"This ultra-chic, plant-based restaurant in Bethesda serves up a colorful menu that manages to feel both healthful and indulgent. The Bethesda outpost hums with warm Miami vibes while serving a menu of hits like vegan sushi, fresh juice cocktails, pasta blanketed with a rich and spicy rosé vodka sauce, plus a vegan version of Maryland’s iconic crab dip made with fresh hearts of palm flown in from Hawaii three times a week. I highly recommended the spicy tuna roll, bang bang broccoli and bao slider. I do think the broccoli could've needed a tiny bit more spice though. The service was nice. Loved the interior. I'm sure it's packed at dinner time! The 1000 layer potatoes were good, but a little underwhelming. The house burger was also underwhelming but not bad. Our drinks were okay. Bathroom could've needed a good clean though. But anyways, we'll definitely still return for the first three items! so good.

I’ve visited twice now! Once in November and again a few days ago. As a true meat eater, I can say this place is hypnotizing. Every single thing we ordered was filling and unique. While you could taste slight differences, I never felt like any ingredient was lacking. The setting and decor is so warm and peaceful. The servers are always pleasant. My absolute favorite things are the rainbow roll, Hawaiian pizza, spinach dip, and udon noodles. I don’t think I’d ever get tired of this place.

As a vegetarian, it was nice to have an entire menu where I didn't have to think about what I could eat. The food was delicious and didn't even feel like it was vegan. Good sharing portions. Would love to go back and try more! Definitely recommend!

My husband and I love Planta Bethesda and we come weekly. I just wanted to say that we have seen a significant improvement in the servers. There is no more long wait times before servers come over and the food comes out in timely manner. All of the staff and managers are also very friendly and kind which creates a great customer experience. I also want to add that I think the restaurant should keep the crispy Brussels sprouts on the menu and the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake is delicious. I would love that to stay too :-) Just providing some positive feedback. We will continue to return and enjoy the delicious food and we are very grateful for a restaurant with all plant based options.

As a non-vegan myself I was incredibly surprised by how good this place was! The food is mostly portioned/plated to share and my friends all had favorites that they ordered for the table. The sushi was probably my favorite of all the dishes with the watermelon for tuna substitute being a particularly successful concept. Service was friendly and the food came out pretty quick (the table was never empty). The cocktail menu looked great but at nearly $20 a pop none of us ended up ordering any drinks. Overall the cost is probably the most prohibitive thing here; this is not a cheap meal. But, it's good and definitely worth trying, vegan or not.

Google
5 Stars for Planta Bethesda Brunch. The food was delicious. The bang bang broccoli was probably the best. We ordered various dishes and tried each other's. The burger was the only thing that wad just ok. French Toast was tasty. The not-chicken & waffles was good. The waffle was really good and soft. The chorizo pizza was tasty. The breakfast burrito was tasty. The Dragon Power drink wasn't horrible, but not as tasty as I'd hoped. The Lychee cocktail was said to be good. Our server was attentive. The ambiance is nice. Bethesda row is so cute. Especially during the holidays. Parking in the garage behind is FREE on weekends! If you have nut allergies beware. A lot of vegan food has various nuts, like cashews.

Google
The service was great. My waitress was very kind and attentive. She described the dishes well and checked on us periodically. The ambiance is nice and a bit upscale. The whole restaurant seemed clean. The only downside is that if you're seated along the booth wall, you dont have much privacy as there are other people to your immediate left and right so you easily hear each others conversations without even trying. All of the food we tasted was good. The desserts were still the star of the night. I recommend getting dessert, even if you need to just take it to-go. Please beware. The cold pressed juices are a complete scam. They are filled with what seemed to be 90% ice and 10% juice. Check out the photos for yourself. They put big cubes at the bottom and crushed ice at the top, leaving very little room for the $10 juice. Overall, would recommend this place.

Google
For those recommending the Bang Bang Broccoli as a must-try, I honestly feel bad for you. The peanut sauce is overwhelmed by an odd, overpowering ginger flavor, and the broccoli is coated in flour, leaving it with a mushy texture instead of the desired crispiness. The seasonal tofu curry was equally disappointing—completely overpowered by cilantro, with bland tofu and barely a hint of curry flavor. The only redeeming dish was the spicy tuna roll, which was actually decent. Unfortunately, that’s about the only thing I enjoyed.

Yelp
My brother is vegan and has told me about Planta for years. I'm kicking off the year by limiting meat so figured Planta would be the perfect place for a Friday night dinner. My partner and I did not have reservations and even though the restaurant was busy, they were able to seat us immediately. We ordered the bang bang broccoli, 1000 layer potatoes, ahi watermelon nigiri, and two bao sliders to start. Everything came out quickly and was so filling that we decided to split the burger as our main with a Caesar salad. All of the food was delicious and we left both full and satisfied. My favorites were the bang bang broccoli and ahi nigiri. As I drink, we ordered the cucumber mule and I ordered one of the brez social tonic drinks. Both drinks were wonderful sipping mocktails. Service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely return and check out the other area locations. I'm looking forward to trying out more of the 'sushi' menu.

Yelp
This place is delicious and incredibly popular, so make reservations at the busiest times or prepare to wait. They have a bar area, too, so if you're going in solo just for the incredible offerings, that is an excellent choice. Their libations are plentiful, as well as seasonal and festive. The staff are well versed in all the ingredients to help you navigate personal preferences, predilections and prohibitions. The prices are steep, but the food quality is on par with the prices, service and contemporary offerings. This is not your boring vegan cafe with burgers and salads. Their pizzas and sushi are maybe the most popular table items. The pizzas can be made gluten free. My only concern is I always want more, and pizzas can only be ordered in one size. They have many options to choose from, but sometimes the simplest seems the best - Vodka pizza! I've had it twice and just don't want another one. Their appetizers are fabulously flavored. I noticed almost every table orders the bang bang broccoli and /or the kelp Caesar. The broccoli is deep fried tempura style if you ask me, but the sauces are very different with a peanut spicy duo sauce smothering these florets. When you bite in, the bright fresh green of the broccoli balances the rich sauces. The 1,000 layer potatoes have a sweet touch to them that we weren't expecting, but it's a creative dish, so, enjoy the unique plating. I have yet to try the pasta offerings, but am dying to do so another time. Having tired a bunch of sushi, I'm happy with what they have from torched and pressed to spicy tuna and crispy rice, they are delicious. This is a great choice for a fancy evening meal or a treat yourself lunch. The food is so good, that I cannot ever just order the normal meal amount, which is why I can't just go her for a normal meal but must make it special to justify ordering twice as much food as normally eaten for my meals. Bonus: leftovers!

Yelp
I've been to the Planta in Los Angeles. From what I heard, they all have a different concept. This one was cool. I ordered the pizza and a sushi roll. The chorizo pizza was harsh and spicy. Over all, I'd give it a 6/10. The sushi roll was really good. This is a nice dining experience. They also serve alcohol of you're into that. Parking garage next door so that's cool. A bit expensive for my taste, but glad I came to check it out. Presentation and service are 10/10

Yelp
I came here while my car charged and am glad I did! I am allergic to seafood and am dairy free. This is a great alternative. The sushi was so good! The chai latte was a bit too spicy. It took them a long time to make it but the waitress comped it. I give them a 4 because I was there alone, and it took them a good 20 minutes to come and take my order. Everyone else seemed to be attended to right away. So that was weird. Other than that I will return. The food was just so good.

Yelp
Planta - A Vegan Lunch That'll Wow Anyone! I hit up the Bethesda location of Planta with a friend, curious to see what they'd have for us. We walked in around 12:45, and it was already buzzing -- clearly, we weren't the only ones craving some good food! The host was super welcoming, and shortly after, our server Daniel came by with recommendations that did not disappoint. I'm not vegan, but my friend is, so we went all in on the plant-based picks. Daniel suggested we try the Bang Bang Broccoli and the House Burger, and wow. The broccoli was crispy, spicy, and perfectly sauced -- it's like they made it for people who say they don't like veggies, because after one bite, you're sold. Then came the House Burger, and even as a non-vegan, I was impressed. Juicy, flavorful, and stacked high with all the right toppings, it could easily compete with any regular burger. We also added the Spinach and Artichoke Dip to round things out, and it was creamy, warm, and great for sharing. By the end of the meal, I was fully converted to Planta's take on vegan food -- fresh, creative, and genuinely delicious. If you're vegan or even just curious about plant-based dining, Planta is worth a visit. Trust me, you'll leave happy, full, and maybe even a little surprised!

Yelp
I've been to Planta in DC before but I recently went to the one in Bethesda for brunch with a couple of friends. It's a very nice area and we opted to sit outside. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. My friend was raving about the French toast but I decided to go the more savory route and selected the loaded breakfast burrito. I also got a turn it up (juice) which was very refreshing. The burrito was good but I tried my friend's French toast and immediately wished I got that instead. Arguably one of the best French toast I've had. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
This review is mainly about their unlimited Maki Mondays. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated and very modern with nice cutlery. The bathrooms were gender specific but very clean. First off their service was good but not great. Our server kept forgetting to bring us water in the beginning and kept forgetting what we had coming as the night progressed, although, he was nice about it. And WOW! FOOD WAS DELICIOUS ! I also just learned they have a night happy hour too. So, how was the sushi you may ask? Here we go!: Torched and pressed: umami central! This roll is incredible! Dragon roll: delicious broccoli with umami notes and creamy avocado. My table thought that the broccoli could've been crisper though. Crispy rice roll: crispy and sweet ! Firecracker roll: this was an experience! The moment this roll hits your tongue you feel a BOOM, CRACK, BANG! The crispness of the potato, the creaminess of the avocado and the chili salt to top it all off was both beautiful in flavor and presentation. Spicy "tuna" roll: watermelon instead of tuna, this was probably my least favorite as it lacked a presentation of flavors like the other rolls did. I personally thought the toasted coconut was weird but my table mates loved it. My least favorite... Baked "crab" roll: palm of hearts instead of crab, this roll was delicious! It tasted like crab but had notes of carrot to mimic that seafoody taste. The mayo probably had some kind of old bay seasoning to help it out? Not sure but it was definitely my favorite out of all the rolls! We were sooooo full by the time we ordered our 16th roll! Dinner with tip came to $37 per person. I would definitely say it's worth the price with how they usually are priced á la carte!

Yelp
I've been here a couple times now and I'm excited to try other locations! I love when a place has a vegan menu that is enjoyable for me, someone who doesn't identify as vegan, and has excellent options and variety for a vegan customer. I'm always interested to try new dishes from the menu and see how creatively the ingredients are used. Going at happy hour is an excellent idea to get a lot of bang for your buck and try a ton of items on the menu, especially if you share some of the dishes. Some of my favorite items include the mushroom and tuna hand rolls and the lumaconi pasta.

Yelp
I always love vegetarian restaurants! This restaurant has dishes from different cuisine, such as Japanese, Italian, etc.. I loved everything we have ordered here. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Meridena K.

Yelp
It's just really really good. Been here a few times now, I get hooked by the emails with photos of the seasonal items. This time it was the coconut cream pie. Anyway, it was excellent, and the crust was a date and pumpkin seed blend, a bit soft and not really a crust like I normally expect, not overly sweet, ever so good. Of course, everything was great. The cauli tots with truffle aioli were delicious. The volcano roll was great! Hot mulled cider was outstanding-with rooibos and pumpkin-very mild and I have committed to try something new each visit. Turm it up drink with mango and turmeric was perfectly sweet and tart. Food was fast, hot, and the atmosphere was and has always been really friendly.

Yelp
It wasn't very crowded the day we went and we were seated quickly. Knocking off a star because we had some issues with our food but our waiter, Moe, and the GM were very understanding and helped us get things sorted quickly. The spinach artichoke dip and bang bang broccoli were great and we'd order again. I'm glad I got to try the ahi watermelon but not sure I'd get it again. The crispy mushroom hand roll was good.

Yelp
I chose Planta for Mother's Day since my mom is vegetarian . This was my family's first experience at a Plant Based Restaurant. The decor was really cute. Restaurant smaller than what I thought based on the pictures. Our service from the hostesses was great but our server was not so great. We ordered a lot of shareables, cocktails, and entrees to get the full experience. My top 3 dishes were the bang bang broccoli, spaghettini carbonara, and the chick'n waffle. The hot agave on the chicken waffle, the carbonara tasted so amazing, and the crispness of the broccoli with the sauce oh so good. My least favorites were the Dragon Roll and 1000 crispy potatoes. The portion size for 1,000 crispy potatoes for the price was ridiculous & the dragon roll was cold when it had tempura broccoli so I was confused. Our server was mediocre to the point I don't remember her name. The running staff was bringing out food pretty fast so it started off great until It took 45 mins for my carbonara to arrive to the table after everyone already ate their dishes. We also ordered a spinach artichoke dip that we asked for 4 times and never got. The cocktails were misleading too based on the glassware & how the cocktails are normally prepared. For the price, they were weak and a waste of money. When we received the bill, our server didn't even think to look it over. She never took the dip off that we never received and she even had an extra item we never asked for on our ticket. The fact my carbonara took 45 mins to come out, she didn't even think to accommodate that. With all this said, for our first visit to a plant based restaurant, I was underwhelmed.

Yelp
I enjoyed it so much I went back twice in three days! Well... I was spontaneously asked to go one night and then my sister came into town after raving about it so... and there was much more to try, so I had to do it! Anyways... let's get into it. First time was with a party of 4... which imo is perfect if you're trying to taste multiple things -- folks paid for their own drinks, and that only left ~$20/pp! Here's what I tried that night... -Spicy tuna roll - the ahi watermelon looks JUST like tuna -- and it doesn't really taste like watermelon, which is good for me. The roll as a whole was incredible, with the avocado and coconut really setting it off. -Bang bang broccoli - ....It was bangin', that's all I can say. Great texture, great flavor, delicious sauce. -Zucchini eggplant fries - a March exclusive. My least favorite of all the items, but still very tasty. They didn't give a lot of fries, and the way it was served, the only way to use all the sauce was to spoon it on the fries, which would've made things extra messy. Everything tasted great though... vegan tzatkiki?! -Chicken & waffles - YUM. The fluffy cornbread waffle, the flavorful mushrooms, the hint of hot agave... Could've had way more of that. -Spicy chorizo pizza - Okay so let's talk about the crust... it was BOMB! A plain slice is fine with that crust -- all the toppings here were just a bonus. Also realized I'm a huge fan of potato chorizo. I returned with my sister a few days later. It was the tail end of brunch, and I got there first and I wish I ordered the burrito... I'll have to go back for it next time! It has tajin in it! It's okay... but here's what I did have. -Unagi eggplant & ahi watermelon nigiri - sushi is always a beautiful presentation, and this didn't disappoint! Each one was only a bite for me, but well worth it! -Lettuce wraps - DIY wraps! They came with brussel sprouts, tofu & pickled ginger. My advice -- cut up the tofu... put a whole cube in the lettuce and it takes up half the thing and really weighs it down! -Bao slider - those yummy mushrooms again, but in bao bun form. It was a good size and tasty! -Spicy lumaconi pasta - It was a beautiful, rich orange color, and it was indeed spicy. I never had that specific noodle before and I'm totally a fan! Great flavor profile. -Olive oil cake - another March exclusive, and again, my least favorite. It was a lemon flavored cake topped with lemon sorbet. The cake wasn't extra lemony, so it wasn't an overload. I thought the texture was a little tough... I loved the sorbet more than the cake itself. It just didn't blow me away like everything else. All this to say... I tried a lot of things, and yet there's still so much to get through. They seem to have a special exclusive menu every month -- but for March, those were my least favorite items. Otherwise, PLANTA has an amazing menu and food. Can't wait to return for brunch properly and ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI MONDAYS!

Yelp
Delicious vegan food bursting with flavor! You can score some great deals during happy hour (cocktails and 1/2 dozens apps for under $10) or the power express lunch on the weekdays ($28 for entree, app, and cookie!), otherwise the food is a bit pricey. I've been here 3 times and twice to Planta Queen. The Bethesda location has more American cuisine and southern comfort foods ex. chicken and waffles, spinach artichoke dip, and loaded burrito, pizza as well as some Asian dishes like sushi, bao buns, etc. There's outdoor seating in front of the Bethesda restaurant (great for people watching!)The DC location Planta Queen is more focused on Asian cuisine. All the dishes are made from scratch with a bold earthy flavor from mushrooms, broccoli, eggplant, and cashew cheese. I've explored the menu and enjoyed trying all of these dishes and most of them hit the mark. Udon Noodles (5/5) - Hands-down the highlight of dinner The creamy dish tastes like fettuccini alfredo with al dente udon noodles with mushrooms and truffle oil. Loaded Breakfast Burrito (5/5) - My favorite lunch dish, hits the spot! The burrito tickles my taste buds with sweet veggie bacon, chorizo, egg, spinach and topped with shoestring onions wrapped in a warm grilled tortilla. It's very filling and flavorful! I wish it came with a side of home fries! Cauliflower Tots (5/5) - The crispy bite-size were tasty topped with the flavorful truffle aioli sauce. Even our picky toddler enjoyed some of the tots! Bang Bang Broccoli (5/5) - The battered tempura broccoli was fun to try smothered in spicy peanut spice. 1,000 Layers of Potato (5/5) - The bite-size of a thick stack of square scallop potatoes topped with yogurt and chia seeds resembling sour cream and caviar was fun to try. A truffle aioli dipping sauce would have also paired well. Spinach Artichoke Dip (5/5) - The creamy spinach dip with artichokes hit the spot! It was hard to tell the dip was vegan and made of cashew cheese. It's on happy hour, even better! Zucchini and Eggplant Fries (4/5) - The battered tempura veggies fries were tasty and part of the March menu specials. Sadly, they couldn't be used as an app for the Power Lunch. Mez Call Me Maybe (5/5) - The Mezcal combined with passionfruit and ginger beer hit the spot! It was so good that I didn't even mind paying full price for it during lunch, will come back to score a happy hour deal on it! Lychee Please Cocktail (4/5) - Beautiful pink cocktail that has a bold gin flavor with a mild mint of lychee. The Notorious OBG (5/5) - Fresh squeezed juice with orange, beets, and ginger was refreshing. One in a Melon (5/5) - The watermelon, cranberry, Eldenflower mocktail was sweet and refreshing. Eggplant Rollatini (3/5) - While I enjoyed the juicy eggplant, the spinach cashew ricotta filling was a bit dry. I saved more room for the Udon noodles! Planta Veggie Burger (3/5) - The house-made patty made of mushrooms, lentils, oats, and blackbeans is quite mushy with crispy edges. I wasn't a big fan of the housemade dijon mustard sauce or the vegan American cheese. While the classic raw thinly sliced onions, tomato. lettuce, pickles toppings helped to elevate the flavor of the burger, it didn't hit the mark. The truffle fries with a side of miso aioli sauce was the best part! Spaghetti Carbonara (2/5) - I was really rooting for this dish, but sadly not a fan of it. It was very spicy, tangy, annd the creamy sauce has a funky taste with the tempeh resembling pork and the mushroom bacon. While the flavors blended well, I didn't settle well in my stomach. Bianca Pizza (2/5) - While the white vegan pizza with bacon and leeks looked promising with garlic cream, sadly I wasn't a fan of it. The flavors are very similar to the Spaghetti Carbonara dish with mushrooms mimicking bacon and the cashew sauce had a funky flavor. After eating the pizza in 3 sittings, I vowed never again. Cucumber Mint Lemonade (3/5) - The lemonade was a bit tart with a strong cucumber flavor. It was not sweet. Big Cookie (4/5) - While the power lunch typically comes with a smaller cookie, the nice waiter/waitress treated us to the Big Cookie (both at the Bethesda and also Planta Queen in D.C.). I def wasn't able to save room for dessert and glad I tackled them at home! Great tip from our server - warm them up in the microwave for 45 sec, they are so gooey and delicious! Download the app, you can get rewards and I scored a $10 off coupon. Will be back for happy hour!

Yelp
The atmosphere of this vegan restaurant is absolutely gorgeous! There's even a bar in the corner, which is so lovely, and I'd love to come back for a cocktail sometime. High ceilings, beautiful decorations, the clean look, and elegant dishes and cutlery. All the servers are polite and friendly as well, and knowledgeable about the menu, especially allergen information. They're also helpful with recommendations! Though the menu items are a bit pricier than expected, there's a special $28 lunch option where you can get a starter and meal AND cookie! For our starters, we chose the bang bang broccoli, which has rave reviews. I found it a bit over coated in sauce and though it was lightly tempura fried perfectly, I thought maybe a plant based restaurant would have broccoli tasting more fresh in its natural form. It was still delicious though! Our other starter, torched and pressed was aptly named as the avocado was nicely torched and the rice was pressed. There was a bit of miso paste on top, which added nicely to the taste. For the main meal, we had the spicy lumaconi pasta, which had a rich cashew mozzarella, and it was very tasty with just a hint of spice. The lime avocado tartare - freshest mix of beets and avocado! Instead of the chips, we got the option to use lettuce cups to be celiac friendly! The lime cheesecake was dairy free, gluten free, and soy free and it was SO delicious!!! It was creamy and tasty! The chocolate chip cookie was a little bit tough, but the chocolate tasted really delicious, it wasn't too sweet either.

Yelp
Decided to try out Maki Monday where they have a selection of maki rolls of $8 or unlimited for $28. I did takeout but loved the super hip and aesthetic interior of the restaurant when I went to pick it up. I tried the torched press roll and the spicy tuna roll. The rolls were good, not great. The spicy tuna roll was a nice rendition of the original but definitely needed the spicy mayo sauce to add flavor. The torched press roll was more interesting with miso truffle glaze, but the rolls where missing the wow factor. They lack creative flavor combinations. I like the concept of PLANTA any may come back to give other menu areas a try but right now its not a priority.

Naa P.

Yelp
PLANTA is a very warm and welcoming environment. It's a restaurant with lots of natural light and friendly servers in the busy Bethesda shopping district. I came to the power lunch, which is a great deal! I got the kelp Ceasar and "torched and pressed" roll. The torched and pressed roll is delicious. The miso truffle glaze makes the flavor decadent and savory, but the dish is small so you'd need something else. Still highly recommend The kelp caesar is tasty. The mushroom bacon is good but not incredibly mind blowing. The flavors all combine quite nicely. I had to add a little salt, pepper, and lemon to bring out the flavors a little more, but still delicious. The cookie was also very good! To drink, ordered the mezcal maybe. Fragrant with light ginger, it was not very strong but refreshing nonetheless

Yelp
Food is way over-priced for what you get. Basically junk vegan food: highly processed, fatty, without fresh fruit or vegetables. Taste is bland and mushy. This is NOT WFPB (whole food plant based). Server was very inexperienced and difficult to communicate with. (Asked me when I ordered Tempranillo if that was red wine.) Music was loud rap or rock music entirely inappropriate for a restaurant where people want to converse. To top it off, I experienced gastrointestinal problems the next morning. I do not recommend this restaurant. Note that I had eaten at Planta a couple of years ago and was underwhelmed and wanted to give it a second try. Nope!

India L.

Yelp
Planta seems to never disappoint. Very filling the location Is very convenient right next to a park garage.

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Inside is what drew us in, fresh-feeling and calm colors pairs with greens and woods. I didn't know it was a fully vegan restraint until looking at the menu once seated at the bar. Husband ordered a beer while I The First Stand - a very refreshing strawberry and mint nonalcoholic drink. My order of the lettuce wraps arrived faster than my husband's breakfast burrito, but the vibe was nice and relaxing, so waiting for him to finish wasn't exactly difficult for a normally restless person like me. The lettuce wrap was amazing in flavor - the right amount of crisp to chew on the tofu and Brussels sprouts. I'm not exactly the cleanest eater with lettuce wraps, so my fingers frequently got messy, but such is the life of lettuce wraps. This was a lovely spontaneous trip that I would do again!

Yelp
I'd been hearing rave reviews about this vegan spot for literally years but for only made it here a few weeks ago (most likely because my partner is decidedly not plant-based). I love that this spot provides an ambience that most other plant-based restaurants do not, so 5 stars for that off the bat. The service was also friendly. This would probably be the go to spot to bring a vegan date. We ordered the bang bang broccoli as an appetizer and I got two sushi rolls as my dinner, whereas my partner got the spaghetti bolognese. Soo... the bang bang broccoli was honestly a bit of a letdown after so so soooo many rave reviews for it. I mean, of course anything tastes great when battered up, fried and drenched in sauce. I personally love vegetables and would rather enjoy their natural qualities rather than fried up beyond recognition. As for the sushi, the spicy tuna roll was a very decent rendition, but it definitely needed the spicy mayo sauce, which was provided on the side. The other roll I got, the dragon roll, I believe, had a lot of ingredients in it but didn't really do much for me. It was pretty bland. I'd like to see the chefs visit some other vegan sushi spots and bring some new rolls in with more creative flavor combinations. My partner's spaghetti bolognese was very good, but honestly not something I'd need to have again. So food wise, I'd give this place a solid 3.8. Everything was good, but nothing was truly amazing that I'd remember and want to come back for. I may still come back later to give other areas of the menu a try.

so modern and chic!! This place is excellent for plant based and vegan foodies. The service is attentive and the menu has plenty of options. Garage parking is nearby..and is typically free on Sundays. And even though the cocktails are phenomenal, they make excellent mock-tails as well.

Yelp
Came to Planta on a Saturday for a late lunch/borderline early dinner. We ordered 1 cocktail each in my group of 5 and they were all well presented and looks enticing. The herb your enthusiasm was herby (obvi) and was a well balanced cocktail. The bang bang broccoli was pretty tasty, but it came out Luke warm. That was my only judgement about it. Otherwise, the flavor was great and the texture was crispy and exactly what you would want with fried foods. I also ordered the eggplant rollitini. It was also a well balanced dish and something I enjoyed. Overall, this was a nice meal with friends and I would recommend planta to even meat eaters!

Yelp
Food was pretty good for a vegan restaurant. Service was AMAZING! Inside of Planta was super hip and cute! Love love love It was actually my first time trying Planta and it was a success. I would def go back there some other day. The only thing was the Bao Slider bun was hard and crunchy. I'm pretty sure the bun was supposed to be softer. Other than that, I give it an A+. My cocktail was good (Mez A Me Maybe. I believe that's what it's called. If not, I apologize for messing it up). It was more on the tart side but very flavorful. Overall, was a plus in my books! Thanks Planta

Yelp
Planta is my favorite vegan restaurant! I've tried their locations in NYC, DC, and Bethesda, and they never disappoint. The menus offer a variety of creative options that always deliver. Whether you're a fan of plant-based food or just looking to try something new, Planta is definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
I finally got a chance to try Planta and it was a good first impression. I was in the area and decided to drop in during happy hour at the bar. The bartenders were attentive once I sat down. I wasn't hungry enough to order an entree so I ordered their rolls: crispy mushroom and spicy tuna hand roll. I also ordered their unagi eggplant nigri.I enjoyed each item but my favorite was the spicy tuna. You will not miss fish after eating this! I love that the spicy tuna specifically gluten free. The ambiance is great for a friend's outing, date night, and families. Would definitely recommend to non vegans and vegans to try. I want to try their pasta next!

Yelp
I had lunch at PLANTA this past Sunday when I was in Bethesda for a facial. I enjoyed the food and the service at the bar since I was having a solo lunch! I ordered sushi since I wanted a healthy, light lunch (unagi/eggplant nigiri and tuna/watermelon nigiri, and a crispy mushroom handroll). The food was good. FYI PLANTA is 100% plant-based. So the "eel" is eggplant and "tuna" is dehydrated watermelon that they rehydrate in soy sauce and other seasoning). I really enjoyed the nigiri (both) and the handroll (although it was a little hard to eat). I would absolutely go back for more vegan sushi (my server at the bar recommended her favorite roll - a pressed roll) that I would love to try. I also had a great non-alcoholic drink (Spa Day Rose) and a good coffee (oat milk cappuccino). The service at the bar was great. The worst about it is just that's pretty popular - and I definitely waited a while to speak to staff about getting a table or a seat at the bar (there were plenty of seats at the bar so one I was able to confirm, they were open, I went over there). The menu is vegan and healthy and I'd like to try more of it. Definitely a place I'd be happy to return to.

Yelp
Bao sliders were very tasty. Pillowy bao with flavorful sauce on the lightly fried mushrooms. The pizza was very good too, although I had mixed feeling about the honey drizzled on top. Maybe a little too gourmet for me pedestrian tastes, but good nonetheless.

Yelp
I stopped by Planta for happy hour and I really enjoyed it! This was my first time going to a fully plant based restaurant so I wasn't too sure what to expect but I enjoyed just about everything I tried. The space is very nice, bar seating was easy and the staff was extremely kind. The highlights for me were the spinach artichoke dip and chicken fried mushrooms but everything was really good including the drinks! I will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone that wants to explore different plant based dishes.

Yelp
I ordered a key lime pie to go and it tasted just oaky with a fresh slice of key lime and whipped cream but the portion was terribly small for the price. I wouldn't order the dessert again.

Yelp
1. Ordered a mocktail off the menu and it was delicious- fresh and coconutty. 2. Ordered the appetizer of fried oyster mushroom with sweet chili sauce. Mushrooms were perfectly fried and the sauce was a perfect pairing. We loved this appetizer 3. Tuna and oyster mushroom hand rolls. The oyster hand roll felt redundant and i felt like it didn't pair as nicely with the eel sauce. The tuna hand roll was a nice palate cleanser and I enjoyed that one a lot. Wish I had ordered more tuna rolls! 4. The Cesar cups were so cute! I did not expect them to come in a little lettuce leaf and thought it was a nice touch. The first few were so nice and gave some moisture and veg to the meal. Cool ambiance. Seemed like a great place for a date or a cute night out with friends!

Yelp
The servers were so sweet! Also, the decor is so cute at this location. As a meat eater, I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. My favorite dish out of the things I ordered was the leek bianca pizza. The dough was cooked to perfection! I miss white sauce pizza so much since I gave up dairy, and this near hit the spot for me.

Yelp
I am obsessed with Planta and will explain the 4 stars. I'll start upfront with the missing star - it's expensive and some items are a miss. We have not loved any of the sushi we have tried. For the rest of the stars, the kelp Caesar salad has been brought to us from another planet time space continuum because it is so out of this world good. The flavors and textures are so unique and delicious- what a dream for it to be not dairy yet so creamy! My next love declaration is for the bang bang broccoli. Gluten free yet so epically crunchy and flavorful. The sauce has a minor kick to it and the entire bowl is addictive. Finally, the pizzas. Creamy, cheese pulley pizza but vegan cheese. They also have GF crust. For people with food allergies to eat a pizza from a restaurant is so amazing. Shout outs to the eggplant rollatini and key lime pie, also dairy and gluten free and delicious. Thank you, Planta! You created a space for people with all kinds of food considerations while making it insanely yummy!

Yelp
First time at your place, the food was great just didnt arrive in order. Two people ordered appetizers as their meal, but they were brought out as appetizers and the timing was off. One order was double billed, then fixed in the end. One order never arrived until we asked another server to go check and the order had not been placed. It did not seem to be a very busy day so we were left a bit baffled about the inconsistency. Staff was good at continually refilling water, but not asking if we needed anything or how things were .

Yelp
Delicious food! If you have vegan haters in your group bring them here! Creative vegan dishes and options for everyone. We have had lots on the menu - bang bang broccoli is a MUST. The udon, tuna sushi/crispy rice, and mushroom chicken are great, too. Happy hour/specials are great too, otherwise a tad expensive. Drinks are delicious too! The rosarita and September special coco royale were both unique flavors. Food comes out fast, service is sometimes a bit slow, try to make a reservation

Yelp
Service is garbage. In 10 minutes with the restaurant 1/3 full, nobody acknowledged us or brought us water. Every table around us was attended to, and servers were even bussing tables that didn't need to be turned over. Even the host didn't acknowledge us on the way out, when we said we were leaving because nobody came over. Clean house and do better, Planta.

Yelp
Yes, technically vegetarian, but depth and authenticity are missing. Very much feels like a vegetarian restaurant by people who aren't actually vegetarian. Wanted to like this place, but I found the food to be more "novel" than "gourmet" as sushi and pizza make up more than 50% of the food menu. While I like sushi and pizza, those are meals you can find anywhere in the world in vegetarian form, why waste an entire "vegetarian restaurant" on something you can get literally get across the street at a run-of-the-mill restaurant? Granted, Planta may drizzle truffle oil instead of sesame seed oil or serve watermelon instead of cucumber sushi...but it is still "sushi" they serve about 10 different ways. On top of that in vegetarian form, pizza (rice flour) and sushi (rice & fruit/veg) tend to be extremely low protein and lacking nutrition (sushi servings are tiny) - things that real vegetarians/vegans have to master in order to survive. In short, as a renewed vegetarian who ate three dishes, not only was I underwhelmed but I was still hungry afterwards.

Yelp
Amazing for, service and ambiance. Chenelle was great to us even though it was her first day. She made excellent recommendations for food and drinks. We got the dumplings, broccoli and spicy lumaconi pasta. All were amazing. We also got the herb your enthusiasm and kombucha mojito. Definitely try herb your enthusiasm. Overall, loved it! They even gave chopsticks with the dinner plate! Can't wait to try more items.

Yelp
Love love. Ambiance - Not bright and airy given the area it pretty tight but it might because it was super busy. It cute thou, right in downtown Bethesda so have to pay to park in the garage Service- Top notch great service from the bar. The host girls a tad bit struck up maybe because i have gym clothes that was coming from the chiroprator. Food unagi Eggplant 5/5 $6.25- 2 piece of rice with eggplant and sweet soy sauce. vegan version of a eel roll, I love it because I use to eat the ell roll until I know it actually eel Ahi Watermelon 4/5 $6.25- yummy dupe to tuna on top of rice Inari 3/5 $6.25- Ok this one didn't look that good. honestly it look like a dog turd but it so good with mushroom flavor. It really filling and dense Bao Slider 5/5 $6.25- My fav mushroom in bao bun with hoisin sauce Easy being green juice 5/5 $10- Refreshing green juice I would definitely come back to get bigger plates next time but even the couples pieces of sushi I was over stuff since it was a lot of rice

Yelp
We visited all 3 DMV Planta locations and loved them all, but this was by far my favorite one. So much so that we visited twice. They all have the same sushi options but I felt they were executed best at this location. The first night we had the carbonara and it was fantastic. Dessert was also wonderful. The second day we tried the leek pizza and it was probably the best pizza I have ever had. The crust was crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. Perfection. I so wish PLANTA had a San Francisco/Bay Area location as I would be a regular visitor! Staff here was also very nice and the restaurant has a great atmosphere and clean. Parking is easy in the garage right behind the restaurant.

Yelp
Terrible service (inattentive, they kept offering to get our check even though we hadn't received our dessert yet) and food was fine. The bang-bang broccoli was excellent, the so-called sticky toffee pudding was an abomination --not a cake bit a dense block that we struggled to cut -- and the nachos were flavorless. Sushi was good. Bao slider was a good idea but way too salty (though I like my food salty). Disappointing.

Yelp
This was my first plant-based restaurant and the experience was outstanding. It's a very popular place...not many empty tables. We were seated quickly. There was music playing but not too loud. I like a little light music when I'm dining out. The menu contained a good variety of food and drink options. Our server was very knowledgeable and was a big help with our orders. I started with the kombucha mojito. It was deliciously different. Next we tried the dragon roll, the crab roll and the bang bang broccoli. They were all excellent choices but my favorite was the bang bang broccoli. I loved the crunchiness and the flavor. I'll definitely try this place again maybe the DC location. If you've ever thought about trying plant-based foods, this would be a great restaurant to visit.

Yelp
Would you believe me if I told you they have "Watermelon Sushi"? Because they do! I heard about this place thanks to Twitter and I had to come try them out. I overheard a guy saying the sushi is good as I entered the restaurant, so I decided to try It out. And I was very surprised. It was super tasty. The drink I had was okay as well, but It could have used more liquor. Overall the ambiance is very nice and makes you feel like your in the jungle. I will definitely be back to try more of there other food options.

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place, but sadly it didn't quite meet my expectations. I adore plant-based restaurants, but there wasn't anything about the food that stood out to me. The only thing I really liked was the spicy tuna roll, but the other dishes were either too salty or under seasoned for me personally. The restaurant itself is beautiful and our server was great at checking in, but this just wasn't my cup of tea.

Yelp
I was starving one day, so I decided to come to PLANTA because I saw they were having their Maki Mondays ($8 per maki roll, $27 unlimited). I had heard about PLANTA before and was intrigued by its concept as being solely plant-based while serving traditionally animal-based food, like sushi. It's very modern inside, with plenty of natural lighting and plants. We ended up opting to order 3 maki rolls- Torched and Pressed, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Dragon Roll- out of the 5 available options (did not get the Crispy Rice or the Baked Crab). I was impressed by our server, who was super knowledgable and knew how many pieces came with each roll when we were figuring out which ones would give us more bang for our buck. I was incredibly blown away by the Torched and Pressed, which was warm and had an amazing rich truffle flavor. I also liked the Spicy Tuna Roll and found that while it didn't taste exactly like tuna, it came pretty close and was delicious! However, I do feel like the dishes were largely hit and miss and that I ended up being underwhelmed by the Dragon Roll. The sauce for the Dragon Roll had a weird bitter aftertaste to it that we couldn't figure out. I would come back to get the Torched and Pressed but also try some of their other things!

Yelp
I had several good meals here in the past, so stopped by hoping to enjoy a nice dinner. But, I was alone and the host wouldn't seat me in spite of several empty tables that were fully set, telling me there were no tables available and they needed to be cleaned (I counted four clean, fully set tables outside). He left me cooling my heels for 10-15 minutes until he finally gave in and gave me a seat. By then the nice meal vibe was shot. A server brought me a menu and then disappeared, attending to party after party until I took the hint and finally left. Do not recommend.

Yelp
Everything was absolutely delicious, and the perfect size to share! I wasn't sure how I was going to feel since I'm a big meat eater, but everything we tried was very flavorful and filling.

Yelp
A group of us planned a Saturday late lunch to catch up. I generally don't seek vegan restaurants, but I was blown away. Planta is located in downtown Bethesda, right next to one of the parking garages; which made it super convenient. We had a reservation, so when we arrive at 3:30pm, we were seated right away. I loved the layout, decor, and ambiance. It was modern, yet chic, and cozy. We were seated in the back corner, and I really liked how the table was spacious and accommodating to our party of 6. Since we arrive prior to 4pm, they were still offering brunch specials. One person from our party ordered the banana waffles, but the rest of us opted to order from the dinner menu. We each ordered a cocktail, which were amazing. I am not a mezcal fan, but out server recommended the mez-cal me maybe. I am a huge fan of passionfruit, so I decided to try. It had a really great taste, and while I did still taste the smokiness of the mezcal, I enjoyed it. I also tried my sister and friend's drinks, Lych please and herb your enthusiasm (gotta love the names). While I am not a fan of gin, the Lych Please was my favorite. The drinks were also super visually appealing, which is a plus. Our server was super sweet and accommodating. He went over some of their popular items, asked about allergies, and even marked off their gluten free menu items and what could be modified. My friend ordered the bang bang broccoli, which was delicious! The peanut sauce was perfect! For my meal, I ordered the spicy chorizo pizza on GF dough. I was a bit skeptical, because not a lot of places have perfected GF dough, but I was pleasantly surprised with how crispy, yet still soft and fresh it tasted. I didn't really get a "spice" from it, so I asked for crushed red pepper, which was the prefect touch. I was also impressed with how good the cashew cheese was. It honestly tasted like real cheese. Overall though, the pizza could've used a bit more flavor. Overall, this was a great place to try and explore vegan dishes. I also didn't feel horrible after eating my meal, which was a huge plus!
