The 37 Best Restaurants in St. Louis, Missouri | Eater

"If you want to enjoy truly great cocktails, ones you think about days or even years later, head to Planter’s House in Lafayette Square, a restaurant and bar owned by Ted and Jamie Kilgore and Ted Charak. At the main bar downstairs, pair the Planter’s House burger, topped with manchego, pickled serrano relish, and spreadable chorizo, with the Taco Cat: Milagro blanco tequila, Old El Paso taco seasoning-infused agave syrup, lime, and cilantro. Upstairs you’ll find the intimate Bullock Room, named for historic St. Louis bartender Tom Bullock, the first African American to publish a cocktail recipe book in America. Settle into the velvet-lined hideaway for a Down for the Count #2, a combination of Citadelle gin, Salers, Gran Classico, Cocchi Americano, celery bitters, and grapefruit tincture. Despite the exceptional cocktails, the mood is never dampened by elitist snots throwing around the term “mixologist.” Don’t miss the seasonal thematic cocktail menus, which have previously drawn inspiration from a local women’s roller derby team and Ms. Dolly Parton." - Holly Fann

The 32 Essential St. Louis Restaurants

"If you want to enjoy truly great cocktails, ones you think about days or even years later, head to Planter’s House in Lafayette Square. The restaurant and bar, owned by Ted and Jamie Kilgore and Ted Charak, is a true celebration of the storied art of bartending (and a 2019 James Beard semi-finalist for best bar program). At the main bar downstairs, pair the Planter’s House burger, topped with manchego, pickled serrano relish, and spreadable chorizo with the Taco Cat: Milagro blanco tequila, Old El Paso taco seasoning-infused agave syrup, lime, and cilantro. Despite the exceptional cocktails, delicious food, and gorgeous decor, both bars radiate with warmth and laughter, and the mood is never dampened by elitist snots throwing around the term “mixologist.” Don’t miss the seasonal thematic cocktail menus, which have previously drawn inspiration from a local women’s roller derby team and Ms. Dolly Parton." - Holly Fann

A cocktail landmark that nods to St. Louis bar history while pushing technique forward. Frequently cited by national magazines and selected by Sauce Magazine as an essential stop; the drinks and food both reward lingering.

Attentive service, expensive menu. Patio was closed when we were there, not sure why, but apparently that’s the place to sit for it. Average cocktail is $15 each, really good bartenders that guided us to good drinks.

Google
Went for happy hour dinner as one of our first stops in town. The burgers were both outstanding (the duck burger is just a bit more interesting in my opinion). The In a Pickle cocktail is hands down one of the best I've had (and we have our fair share of outstanding bars in Louisville)...this was signature drink material. If/when I am back, I will absolutely visit again.

If you enjoy creative and well-done cocktails, Planter’s House is a great place to delight your tastebuds. The creative naming of these drinks is nearly as enjoyable whilst making your selections. :) Their food menu isn’t expansive, but I believe they focus on fewer items done especially well. I return often for their burger and fries. Sounds simple, but I’d still call it gourmet. Even the fries are magnificent with the option for a dill topping and a side of aioli, they are classically delicious! Besides, enjoying cocktails alongside a burger and fries? What could go wrong? Mmmm… On lovely afternoons and/or evenings, enjoy al fresco dining on their back patio. It’s especially appealing during evenings with their soft patio lighting. Consistent service and food makes this a place to return again and again. (Note: Planter’s House, please find room for the frozen drink machine and serve the Big O year around again!) 😋

This place is a throwback to classic drinks and magnificent food offerings. The bartenders are knowledgeable and will help you find the right drink for you or make you what you like. The bourbon and whiskey offerings are vast, and some are unique. I recommend Purgatory and The Last Word classic pre prohibition drinks that are remarkable, to say the least. It's a good spot for a date or just a place to grab a drink and small bites alone. My bartender was Jeff, his knowledge and love for his craft go above and beyond epic. If you happen to go tell him, Lamont sent you. Enjoy!

Google
Christmas cocktails! Best time to come to Planters House is in December for their Christmas cocktails. You can skip the incredibly overpriced appetizers and enjoy the strong alcohol in a Santa mug. And sure they kick you out after 90 minutes, but you can’t really afford to be drinking here longer than that anyway.

The overall vibe was relaxed and comfortable. Service was good. I expected more in terms of taste from the 'Fancy' drinks. Overall ok

9/24/2022: Had reservations for 2 at the bar. Really great cocktails. Ordered the tenderloin and lamb. Both very delicious! FYI for out of town visitors. We were visiting from out of town so we had to take a Lyft to the restaurant from downtown St Louis. It was really difficult to get a ride on a Saturday night, there weren't any drivers out. Took about 30 minutes for a ride.

I was in St. Louis for just a few days and didn’t get nearly enough time to explore this city, but I am so happy I stumbled across this little gem! Very unassuming exterior which created and awesome impression when I walked in. Warm, cozy, inviting space with outstanding cocktails! I had two, one was “Winter Isn’t Coming” and the other was “the Janmer”, which was served hot (think hot buttered rum). Wow! The banana runts candy on the Winter drink was such a sweet touch. Gorgeous presentation, each drink we had was unique and the bartender was really thorough in explaining the menu, the cocktails and what cocktails were on tap, and which were hand crafted. I’d be a regular here if I lived in STL. The kitchen was closed when we went but we had already had dinner and went in specifically for a night cap. Thank you so much for a lovely experience, Planter’s House!

Yelp
Was able to check Planters House out for Sippin Santa this year and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience! Friendly staff and experienced bartender made the event even better. From the moment you step in you are transformed into a Tiki Oasis! Drinks were top notch! We had crab ragoon dip which was tasty and they even gave us extra wontons when we asked and was appreciated! A cozy corner well established drinking place when it's not the holidays, Planters is a must on your pop up bars this season.

Yelp
Great food, service, and setting. I ordered the pork belly poutine and my wife ordered the mushroom fried rice. We split the house fries with cacio e pepe. The fries and dipping sauces were fantastic. It came with a homemade ketchup and a ranch sauce. The pork belly was amazing especially with the cheese curds on top of it. I also ordered the yard sail drink. It came in a copper cup and was great. My wife ordered a non alcoholic drink which came frozen in a tiki cup, she enjoyed it. Overall, amazing time and worth it.

Yelp
I've been to Planter's House many times--mostly for cocktails--and haven't been disappointed yet! We recently visited in December, and they're "operating as Sippin' Santa" through December 29. They do not mess around with Christmas decorating! The place is thick with festive lights, trees, and other decorations. The usual cocktail menu is available, plus seasonal specials with a "keep the glass" option for an upcharge. Service is always friendly, and this time the bartender advised us which of the holiday offerings were his faves ("Frosty the Merman isn't going over real well but folks love the mug!") Most are fun drinks on the sweet and fruity side; after a couple we switched to the classics. Drinks have been consistently well-balanced and interesting at Planter's. It's a great place to sit at the bar for cocktails or a beer, or grab a booth with friends and enjoy dinner too.

Yelp
Stopped in for pre-dinner cocktails without reservations. Thankful we arrived a little early so we got a table. Celebrating a birthday, it was the perfect vibe we were looking for! Comfortable! Drinks were tasty good & our server Anita was knowledgeable about the extensive drink menu! Fun place.

Yelp
I came to Planter's House for their holiday pop up and it was so great! Very colorful lights, tasty drinks and delicious meal options. The staff was friendly and very helpful when deciding which drinks to try. I really enjoyed myself and look forward to visiting again in the future.

Yelp
Let's talk COCKTAILS! They are so impressive! If you are wanting a unique cocktail that is delicious and clever, go to Planter's House!!! Food is also very good. We got the cauliflower, happy house deviled eggs, and happy house nuggets and dill fries ..no complaints.

Yelp
Planters house is one of the best spots in St. Louis for a great custom cocktail. They are fantastic. Greatest ambience and friendly staff too. The food is solid, especially the fries! If you haven't been, give a try. You won't be disappointed if you love a good cocktail.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the patio vibes. This restaurant is pretty chill and has a laidback ambiance. The waitress was nice and patient while I was deciding what to get from the drink menu. The dish I chose was the roasted cauliflower. I didn't expect to get soup, but it was really good, nonetheless. Be mindful that there is street parking and is located next to residential houses for this restaurant.

Yelp
This review will mostly cover the cocktail section of the menu as that is the focus of my visits. Although, I have gotten the house fries many times and they hit the spot--especially after a couple stiff drinks. Planter's House is, in my opinion, the best bar in STL. Whether you're seated in the main area or intimate Bullock Room, there is a warm, rustic atmosphere with beautiful wood/brick accents all around. If this a date night event, the tables all around are ideal. However, if you're a cocktail enthusiast, I would recommend sitting at the Bar as the bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly. As for the drinks, the quality goes without saying. The menu is both diverse and rotates seasonally--of course, there are staples that never leave like the Planter's House Barrel Picks-which are my personal favorite (try the PH Black Manhattan)! Little side tip, go for a stroll around Lafeyette Square after dinner or as you wait for a table to see some of the beautiful architecture from the oldest historic district in STL!

Yelp
Service was weird from the host to our server the whole vibe was a little "to cool for school" aloof. The drinks were well crafted and definitely the stronger point of our experience. We had the imagination library and the PH old fashion. The fries with cacio de peppe seasoning were great! The Korean brisket won tons were good but the meat itself was not very hot it was clearly heated up and not fully. Cheese on top wasn't even melted. Flavor of meat was good though. She misrung in our general tsaos chicken and they first brought out a salad we hadn't ordered. When chicken did arrive it was tough and slightly chewy not tender at all. Our server wa almost non existent and way more focused on her other tables. I was expecting a little more for the price and ambiance.

Yelp
Went for drinks after dinner, we got a patio table and weather was perfect for it. Great patio. Ordered the Whiskey Business after it was recommended by friends. Excellent drink. I live in the area and will return to the food here.

Yelp
Drinks on a Friday night and first time visiting. We were able to get a seat at the bar and were happy with our service. Tried one of the cocktails and also tried one of the spirit free options. I would definitely come back to try different drinks off the menu and maybe next time I may also add one of the snack items.
google avatar

Yelp
Well balanced and delicious cocktails. Great ambiance, indoor and out. This is a great spot for after dinner drinks or even a date night dinner. Great range of food options and all are delicious.

Yelp
Fantastic neighborhood AND destination bar with top notch mixologist, top-shelf selections and elevated gastropub-meets-bar food (maybe gastrobar!?). Strongly recommend the outdoor patio in a nice St. Louis day or evening. Recommend reservations on a busy evening. Here's what we drank on this visit: - Fool for a lifetime: Normally, I am not a fan of mixed drink with scotch, but this one delivers. Tasted like an elevated Manhattan. Rating 4.0 - PH Sazerac: this classic hits! Perfectly crafted. Rating 4.3 - In a Pickle: I got this because I thought it would pair nicely with the burger and the dill fries. Score! It did! Rating 4.2 - Vieux Carre: Currently my favorite cocktail and the bartender nailed it! Rating 4.4 Food selection: - kale salad: three of us shared this. It was very tasty. One of the best kale salads I've had. Rating 4.0 - Planter's House Burger: Well seasoned, perfectly cooked patty. Conservative amount of toppings delivered a ton of flavor. Bun was served untoasted and room temperature, which seemed a bit off to me. Fries were terrific! Garlic aioli option is worth a try! Rating 4.0 - Ribeye: Decent cook on this nice sized ribeye. Enjoyed the romesco sauce. Would have preferred the Brussels cooked a bit further. Rating 4.0 - Barbecue Shrimp Po'Boy: GET THIS! Best taste of the evening. The shrimp were packed with flavor. Really enjoyed the potato salad too. Rating: 4.3 - Chocolate Fudge Cake: yummy! Love the cherry sauce! Rating 4.2 Julia was our server and she was fun. Very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Overall, one of the best bars in St. Louis. Menu is a bit small compared to many other places, but the they nail every dish they serve.

Yelp
Planter's house is a local restaurant and cocktail bar located near Lafayette Square. I was in the mood for a refreshing cocktail and decided to venture out this way for one. Planter's house has tables for dining, bar seating, and outdoor patio seating. My party decided to stay inside. The overall atmosphere is very nice, our waiter was very attentive to our needs, and our food and drinks came out very quickly. Their cocktail menu is geared towards rum, scotch, and bourbon cocktails but does contain a few gin drinks as well. I ordered a mint julep and it was both smooth and refreshing. On the food menu, various snacks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts are offered. For an entree, I ordered the cashew chicken. For the price paid, the portion size was relatively small and there were very few pieces of chicken. The meal felt warmed up to serve and I left feeling still hungry. Overall I would come back but would stick to their cocktails!

Yelp
Love Planter's House for drinks and apps! Have never had dinner there but the fries are so good! The dill fries are funky but amazing - so fresh and delicious!! Their drinks are always fantastic - the in a pickle is refreshing and great! They're a great balance of flavorful and also balanced with alcohol flavor. They also have great mocktails! My friend got a Aperol spritz from the bar so off menu options are definitely an option! The plantain chips were good - they come in a PH signature bag and the green dip was refreshing and tangy

Yelp
This spot has been on my list for a looooong time, and its just down the street! We finally had a chance to stop in. To start, this place is gorgeous. The style is amazing and so pretty, their designer did a phenomenal job. Even the bathrooms are super nice! And clean!! The patio is huge and perfect for spring and summer time. The drinks - they had so many good options. I'm a whiskey drinker and I'll be honest, some of the ones I tried were maybe a little too unique for me? The flavor's just didn't quite work, BUT, maybe they were made for a different consumer. Others were freaking delicious, also unique, but blended flavors very well. We will definitely be back for nice cocktails. This is a treat as they are expensive, I can't see us coming back for more than one or two drinks at a time. We have not had their food but will need to come try it sometime!!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was excellent and fast! Delicious and flavorful food! Perfect place for date night, girls night, or dinner with your adult children!

Yelp
Planters House has been on my list of places to try for a minute now. Decided to stop by since it was close to where I was. The place is whimsical Christmas decorations where EVERYWHERE and I loved it. We were able to get seated fast without a reservation. My drink was definitely interesting not in a bad way. I had some crab dip and some fries. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a unique experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Enjoyed welcoming spring on the first night that Planter's House patio opened. It was lovely sitting outside drinking their delicious cocktails and sharing a bite to eat with a friend. I haven't been in a while and forgot how intricate and well-made their drinks are. I am indifferent about their food, but I enjoyed my steak and couscous. The sauce was very spicy. Will be back for drinks, without a doubt!
google avatar

Yelp
Waste of money. Pickled veggies: watery/bland Pickled egg: boyfriends words, 'sweaty armpit' Crab cakes: fishy Short rib gyro: like maayyyyybe 1oz of dry cold short rib on a Costco frozen/microwave pita for $22?! Pretty much any street taco or $1 Taco Bell taco has better and more meat in it Fries (dill): $9, good Top it with the fact that it was an hour between the time my salad was served and the rest of our food. The only thing that was 'worth it' were the cocktails. We don't even really care to drink as much as we care about having good food. At first glance the menu looks good- with some seasonal stuff/ingredients, pickled things and fusion cuisine. But upon arrival, the dishes were all disappointing.
google avatar

Michaela E.

Yelp
My friend and I went to brunch on a Saturday morning right at 10 when they opened. It filled up pretty quick. On the reservation we said we had a toddler/baby and they had the high chair set up for us. My friend and I both ordered the breakfast burrito! It was delicious! I would recommend splitting it because we both ate half. The only downside was that the waitress forgot we were her table so other tables that were sat after us were waited on before us. We had to ask someone to send our waiter/waitress over. That was the only downside of our experience. I recommend especially if you want to walk in the park after!
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
First, I love how low-key this place is unless I am mistaken I don't think there was even a sign on the front door. The interior is warm with a lot of nice wood and brick accents. Secondly, the service was fantastic. I was meeting up with an old friend to catch up and our server did a wonderful job of making sure we had drinks and water but without being even a little obtrusive. Towards the end of the night when we were concerned that ordering another drink might keep them there later than they wanted to she was firm but kind that they were happy to serve us another cocktail before the last call. The drinks, which will be a surprise to no one, were wonderful. I got a sazerac that was so well balanced (this is a drink that seems to be easy to ruin as I suppose many alcohol-forward cocktails are), I would have had another one but I am always a fan of a Hemingway daiquiri. Another great drink (and to my palette a different style of cocktail), and I would recommend either of thm to anyone. Finally, the reason this is 4 stars as opposed to 5 and that was the bar snacks. To be clear, we did not have any main courses - we just shared a handful of appetizers to eat while we were drinking and chatting. None of them were really outstanding (trail mix, olives, cheese plate) and maybe I was just spoiled by the bar snacks at Ward 8 in Evanston but they missed the mark. That said? My friend and I both agreed we'd go back there, he is going to start taking dates there for a cocktail. All and all, I really enjoy this place.
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
I came tonight for dinner as I had reservations for two. We came in and they asked if we wanted to sit at the bar. We didn't want to sit at bar so they sat us in the dining area. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable of the dishes. It was uncomfortable cold in there and it was 40 degrees outside and I don't think their heat was on. The menu has just a few entrees listed. We both opted for the burger and fries. The burger was good and it tasted really fresh. The burger did not have cheese on it, which is different but still good flavor. We both ordered cocktails and they were good. You can really tell the difference when a mixologist makes your drink. I see why they are known for their cocktails.

Jerry G.

Yelp
Won't be back. We got rushed out. Ordered drinks, then appetizers, then a second round of drinks and were preparing to order more food, when bartender said we had been there 2 hours and needed to leave. Owner came over and said it is policy to push people out after 2 hours. What a shame. Great drinks but cannot continue to support this business.
google avatar

Tina S.

Yelp
Decent selection of eats, very fun and easy to get to anywhere in the city. Great history to this place too.
google avatar

Aswathy K.

Yelp
Very happy to try the pop up bar here for the first time! The Christmas decorations are amazing. Tried the Kris Kringle Colada drink which was awesome, not too sweet or tart and comes in a cool cup. But the best drink was easily the "In a pickle", which had such a pleasant floral taste due to the elderflower. A very memorable drink and one I will definitely want to have again! The fries with the hot & sweet Maui onion sauce were so addicting. The meatballs, however, come in a small quantity and were somewhat underwhelming in taste. Not bad if you want something light to eat. I'm usually not a fan of hot alcoholic drinks but their Undertow Toddy tasted so good and had a strong and sweet molasses type of taste to it which was very enjoyable. The waitress recommended this drink if you like something sweet! Definitely recommend getting reservations to this pop up bar if you get the chance.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, service, and atmosphere. Every time my father visits me from Memphis, he asks if we can go here.
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
*Based off of a visit during their holiday pop-up, Sippin Santa!* They had the cutest cups and tastiest cocktails, all within their tropical/tiki theme. They also had small bites and a few dishes. * Drinks Ordered: Kris Kringle Colada & Sippin Santa * Food Ordered: (V) cremini mushroom & tofu bowl & French fries, because duh. Treat ya self for girls night! The bar was full so we sat at a table and the service was still great -- our server was attentive and also told us when the bathroom was open so we could make a dart for it (haha! Talk about service!) We went on a Tuesday night and called on our way (around 8pm) so didn't have any wait when we got there and were seated right away. If you get a chance to check out their holiday pop up... do it!! You won't regret it -- cheers!

Yelp
Planter's house is a pretty neat place. We came in on a Friday evening, made reservations ahead of time and were seated at a bar tucked around a corner through a set of short stairs. Fine with me but why were we seated at a bar when I made reservations? I didn't ask, there was no one else at said bar. We started our dinner with some plantain chips with aji verde and I wanted to try their sambal pickled egg. My husband and I shared the plantain, he enjoyed it more than I did. I loved the pickled egg though! For our main course, I had the duck and my husband ordered the mushroom pancit. The duck dish was a bit weird to me (like a weird smell) so my husband and I switched dishes. Neither of us is vegan so we were able to quickly rectify the issue. By the way, their pancit is vegan. I wish there was a carnivore version though. I loved the pancit. It was such a flavorful dish and although I couldn't finish it, the dish reheated well the next day. Unfortunately, we skipped dessert as I was way too full. Our server was excellent. She brought over the drinks and food dishes quickly and was very helpful when we had questions or needed a refill. I will definitely be back to try their other offerings.

Yelp
What a great experience at Planter House and their Christmas popoup. Great staff and some fun drinks to experience the area. I showed up right around opening with no reservation, but the hostess was very accommodating and found me a spot at the bar since someone canceled. Great place to start the night, and the Christmas cheer is awesome.

Emmy N.

Yelp
Drinks were PHENOMENAL, food was solid, ambiance was awesome. A great place for a date, and, they have great happy hours advertised on their socials. I appreciate Planter's House for being a reliable STL staple of romantic, creative, exciting food and drink.

Brian W.

Yelp
Ate here with some friends recently. While good, I'm not completely sure it deserves all the hype it has received. To me, it seems like the food plays second fiddle to the bar offerings. I had the duck confit carbonara, which sounds better than it was. I also ordered a non alcoholic drink that was served with an enormous ice cube almost taller than the glass, which left only a few sips of a drink that cost $10. Would I return? Perhaps, but not soon.
google avatar

Juan P.

Yelp
Was here for sipping Santa Christmas pop up bar. Awesome drinks and exit for the holiday. Tiki inspired drinks and light fare.
google avatar

Lucy Y.

Yelp
One of my favorite cocktail bars. The ambiance is great and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. They are busy so I would recommend having a reservation! They have a large menu with a variety of great drinks. The servers are helpful and always make the best recommendations! The cacio e pepe fries are the best to snack on!! Would recommend!
google avatar

Stacy O.

Yelp
A favorite spot for creative cocktails! I love how knowledgeable and friendly the bartenders are!
google avatar

Ben T.

Yelp
Food: 2/5 Ambiance/Service: 5/5 Drinks: 4/5 Overall 3/5 Our waitress was very attentive and friendly with good drink recommendations. The burger was average at best with the meat tasting pretty dry. It was served with an interesting tasty ketchup made in-house, but resembled a salsa more than a ketchup. The dill fries were way too salty. The pineapple cake was tasty, but not mind blowing. It was made in house as well, but a little too dense for me. Overall, I would come back for the drinks and service, not the food.
google avatar

Whitney H.

Yelp
The pancit was very good and spicy! The meatballs were a nice shareable snack as well as the fries. The environment was very festive. I have been trying to make it here the past few Christmas seasons, but reservations were always booked so quickly. I am so glad I got to experience this pop up bar this year and it was even better than I imagined. Planter's house always has the best drinks and when combined with Christmas cheer it does not get much better than this!

Lisa C.

Yelp
Outstanding, inventive cocktails. Fantastic bourbon selection. The food menu is small but complimentary. Beautiful spacious patio.
google avatar

J-Bird G.

Yelp
We came Friday for after-dinner drinks, thinking it was a nicer cocktail bar. The bartenders were skilled and hospitable. However, the host was strangely passive aggressive as soon as we walked in. Since we sat at the bar, near the host, we continued to have unwelcoming interactions w/him throughout our visit, which was embarrassing in front of the visitors we were taking out for the evening. Needless to say we left early. Still, the cocktails were delish.
google avatar

Shawn W.

Yelp
Was told this was a great place for cocktails so decided to stop in for dinner. We were seated pretty quickly when we got there and our server was pretty attentive. We started with the You're the Man now Dog and the Johnny Razors for drinks. Both were very good 5/5 for sure! For food I ordered the cashew chicken and my partner ordered the rack of lamb. The cashew chicken had pretty decent flavor but the serving size was pretty small. Very similar to the chicken, the lamb tasted good but they were very small and portion size seemed a bit small for $30. Overall, would definitely go back for drinks not sure if it's the best place for dinner.

Yelp
This place is a must for cocktails. It was rated the top 50 in the US. They have a huge textbook full of cocktail recipes. Their staff is always very informative to help pick out the best cocktail for your taste.

Been back here so many times since my last review. Never disappoint always great service here. Fantastic drinks. They have few solid dishes and fun small plates to share if you are there just for some drinks. Price is great even for their main dishes. Absolutely love the place.

Yelp
Awesome Christmas decorations for a Christmas lover! They also had an awesome menu - they had a Peruvian appetizer (I am Peruvian) and it was delicious! Would go back!

Yelp
Before I get into the "meat" of this review, I just want to say that I recommend Planter's House 100% for their beverage program. If I could rate it just based on that, I would, but we ordered dinner too, and my meal was ok, but my partner's wasn't great. I had the ribeye, and although cooked accordingly and flavorful, there was a lot of fat on it, even for a ribeye. I also wish the romesco sauce was served on the steak, rather than under it. My partner ordered the duck carbonara, and should have sent it back. He ordered it medium rare, which is how the house cooks it, and it arrived gray with pink in the middle and tough. It was hard to cut even with a sharp steak knife, and if it hadn't been for the delicious pasta, mushrooms, and pancetta, would have been hard to stomach. Again, definitely recommend Planter's House for drinks (and appetizers too!), but I would skip the main dish.

Yelp
Great interesting and innovative cocktail list. Bartenders aren't the friendliest. I've been several times at the bar and have experienced this each time.

Yelp
This place has such beautiful little cocktails that will surely quench whatever you might be thirsting for. Quaint, unique, and special.

Yelp
My partner and I took his mom here for dinner, and we were greatly disappointed. Our server was great and mentioned that Planter's House was primarily a cocktail bar. We should've taken that as a warning. We had plans for both drinks and dinner. The cocktails we ordered were great, as expected. However, the food was awful. I ordered the pasta and scallops. The pasta came out cold and gummy. The sauce that they used was bland and mealy. I'm not even sure what it was. We also ordered a cheeseboard that was way overpriced for its size. My partner's mom received her order without many of the items that were provided in the description. My partner got a burger, which he said was average. I'm not sure why they run a kitchen if their food is this poor. Would come again for pre-dinner drinks, and then head to Polite Society instead, for a meal.
