Plateau Restaurant

"Getting called one of the best restaurants in Canary Wharf can be a bit of a dubious honour, sort of like being the kid in class with the fittest mum, or being the star player on your Quidditch team. But Plateau, is a truly good restaurant, and deserves some of your attention. When we first visited Plateau, an upscale fine dining restaurant in Canada Place with a nice view over the main square, we were expecting a room full of suits abusing their company cards over plates of mediocre food. Although we weren’t wrong about the first thing, the food here is anything but mediocre. The modern French food is pretty damn flawless, and the steak tartare and beetroot salad will make you remember why these dishes were popular in the first place. There’s a lengthy tasting menu in the evening, but we like it best at lunchtime, when there’s a great value set menu that won’t leave you feeling out of pocket (so long as you go easy on the booze). There’s also a more casual grill and bar serving simpler food, but you really want to be in the main dining room where the room’s filled with daylight and the food and ambience is better. With its location and pretty view, the truth is that Plateau doesn’t really need to try very hard, but the food here is good enough it would easily be one of the best restaurants in any neighbourhood it was in." - David Paw
