The Bun Factory in Doraville, Knife Modern Mediterranean in Buckhead, and Platez Southern Kitchen in Decatur Open | Eater Atlanta

"Opening Friday, August 19 on Clairemont Avenue at the Courtyard by Marriott in Decatur, Platez Southern Kitchen and Cocktailz, owned by Etanya Lucas, plans to serve Southern dishes reminiscent of those she grew up eating and watching her grandmother cook at Neta Dupree’s Soul Food Cafe, including salmon croquettes during breakfast, catfish filets and fried chicken at lunch, and crab cakes and barbecue ribs at dinner; a late-night menu will feature desserts of assorted cakes and sweet potato pie, and Lucas named the restaurant in honor of her grandmother, who used to ask customers, "What plate of goodness are you having today." - Beth McKibben

The Plate Sale Replacing Talat Market at Gato in June | Eater Atlanta

"Replacing the Georgian Thai pop-up at Candler Park’s Gato throughout June, the Plate Sale is a popular a la carte pop-up dinner series led by Mike and Shyretha Sheats (both formerly of Staplehouse), with Mike as chef and Shyretha as beverage director. I note they host dinners across Atlanta and Athens at restaurants like Octopus Bar, A Mano, and B’s Cracklin’ Barbecue and announce each dinner via Instagram. Menus range from homey comfort foods such as catfish with hushpuppies and little gem lettuces paired with Creature Comfort beer to flawlessly cooked beef cheeks with potatoes and dried tomatoes paired with Vina Bujanda crianza wine from Spain." - Beth McKibben

My first time visiting Platez for brunch and I was well taken care of by Tammi and Iman. They were very attentive and wanted to make sure I had a positive experience at their restaurant. There was a live DJ playing. I had the Gouda grits and catfish, collard greens, sunny side up mocktail and a strawberry muffin. The grits and catfish was good and hot. The collard greens were lukewarm but still good. I wish I had a chance to try the blueberry muffin as the strawberry muffin tasted like it was made with strawberry quik. Overall I enjoyed my meal and my service at Brunch.

I visited Platez Southern Kitchen with a large party for brunch. Even though we booked our reservation weeks in advance, the restaurant wasn’t prepared. It took well over an hour and a half after ordering for our food to arrive. I ordered the chicken & waffles, cornbread bites, and a strawberry peach margarita. The cornbread bites with honey drizzle were a nice start, and the margarita was balanced and refreshing. Unfortunately, the chicken—though cooked properly—wasn’t seasoned, and the waffle was overcooked. On top of that, the service left much to be desired. I had to ask multiple times for condiments and waited over 20 minutes just to receive them. Customer service is very important to me, and this really hurt the experience. What made it worse was the bill. A large party tip, an extra “service fee,” and then a regular tip option added up to an outrageous total — especially considering the lack of preparation, slow service, and disappointing food. Overall, while the drinks were good, the combination of unseasoned food, long waits, and excessive charges makes it hard for me to recommend this place or want to return.

I had this restaurant saved on my list after discovering it on social media so one day I decided to visit. When I arrived I had to drive around the corner to the parking garage for parking it was a three minute walk. When I walked in I got seated right away the waitress let me pick where I wanted to sit. The place was clean, looked nice & had outdoor seating that was covered. Our waitress was very nice & outgoing. The place wasn’t crowded but despite only a few people being there I had to wait on my food longer than I feel I should have. The waitress wasn’t sure what was going on in the kitchen but she apologized & did her best with keeping me updated. I also ordered a drink & had to wait on that also because I was sitting in the bar area & the bartender was supposed to bring it to me but my waitress ended up getting it for me. While I waited me & my date passed time by playing this card game the restaurant had available where you & your date ask each other questions. Once I got my food it was good my drink was good as well & my waitress gave me an extra catfish to make up for the inconvenience. My experience could’ve been better but I’ve experience worse but I would go back.

Was in town for work and decided to stop by Platez. From the bartender, to the waitress, Hostess, DJ and Chef it was an amazing experience. The food was really good and the vibes were even better. My steak was cooked to perfection a perfect medium. The greens were seasoned and the treat the blueberry cornbread. Wasn't to sweet just right.

I had the pleasure of dining at Platez restaurant, and I must say, Ms. Tammi provided an exceptional experience. She was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Her warm and friendly demeanor truly enhanced our dining experience. I highly recommend Ms. Tammi for a raise—she’s a true asset to the team! Thanks

If you’re in the Atlanta/Decatur area, you’ve got to try it. We had the “Veggie Platter” which is basically any four sides from their menu. We chose collard greens, Brussels sprouts, Mac & cheese, and yams. For dessert we had the peach cobbler and the bar tender (Nicole) whipped up an awesome virgin strawberry and pineapple piña colada. We met the restaurant manager and had the best server (Chris). Great experience for singles, couples, groups, or families.

Google
Loved loved loved it here! The atmosphere was great, the food (catfish and grits plate)was amazing!! I had the strawberry lemon drop was to die for! Tammy was our server and her customer service was amazing! She made sure we were comfortable and taken care of. We also met Chef Von, he was dope as well. He most definitely got us right!

Google
WOW! I'm speechless! I'm visiting from Ohio and my husband and I decided to stop in for lunch. First let me just start by saying that the low rating occured prior to the new owner, Chris taking over. He has turned this place into an amazing experience. There is no way this should be below a 5 star. So with that being said..Let me tell you..when I say it was great, that is an understatement. Tammy treated us like ole friends stopping by. She made us our drinks and then Chef Jones stopped over and took our order. I ordered the ginger glazed salmon with candied yams. Superb! I'm a stickler on my salmon and this is by far THE BEST Ive ever had. If I could bring chef Jones home with me I would! He takes so much pride in his meals and it shows. Emon is doing a beautiful job at running this establishment. He is friendly and helpful and even came over to greet us. If you want a nice vibe and the best food I highly recommend this establishment. I wish I could give it a 10 star..or maybe I just did! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yelp
The food and atmosphere was top notch. I highly recommend. Iman , Natasha and staff treated us like family. The food was sooo tasty. I will definitely

Yelp
This place was a pleasant surprise! It's connected to the hotel that we were staying at and we decided last minute to come here for brunch. Going in, I didn't have super high expectations but was pleasantly surprised. The inside was larger than I thought and had a patio. The decor was grass wall and gave that it converts to a lounge in the afternoon but was very clean. Our waitress was very attentive and immediately dropped drinks off. She gave us a few options and we settled on the grits. My friend got the fried catfish and I got fried shrimp. Both were absolutely delicious and very well seasoned. I would definitely come back and recommend

Yelp
I really try to avoid negative reviews, but this experience left me no choice. We had a reservation and were seated on time, but service quickly went downhill. Our server never introduced herself or checked on us--she simply walked up and asked if we were ready to order. Appetizers and drinks took 20 minutes, and the chips for the spinach dip were hard. We then ordered drinks and, after waiting 10 minutes, saw the bartender casually standing around. I noticed my margarita sitting on the bar, made incorrectly, and by the time our server checked, it had been given away. After an hour of waiting, we were told it would be another hour for our entrees due to a party of 50 --something that should've been communicated earlier. Since we had a show to attend, we decided to cut our losses, pay for the drinks and apps, and leave. No one apologized. No manager checked in. The lack of communication and service was frustrating, and I wasn't the only one noticing it--several tables around us were visibly upset and leaving.

Yelp
Would not recommend this place at all.. Party of five and they didn't have most of things we came for on menu..Drinks where terrible and costly from a mix..Chris was our server and he did his best but it wasn't enough..GM tried to help but no it still wasn't enough..

Yelp
Super great food and friendly servers! It was a great first place to eat in Decatur. Wish we could have gone back for drinks!

Yelp
Worst service ever!! Half the menu was sold out at 7:00pm I had to ask for silverware TWICE only to have to go to the kitchen and ask someone FOR silverware!!!!

Yelp
Great food, cool vibe, and Teresa is the best! Definitely should try the catfish and grits

Yelp
My family and I visited yesterday and the pleasure of being served by Cherelle. She was very sweet and accommodating. I ordered the strawberry mimosa carafe and catfish and grits and eggs. The catfish was fried to perfection. And the grits were creamy and delicious. My cousin ordered the red velvet waffle and tenders; my sister had the chicken and red velvet waffle. Both said the waffle was missing something. Not pictured was the steak & eggs. My cousin's steak was overcooked but he still ate it. Overall it was a good vibe. Great music and nice feel to the restaurant.

Yelp
Since a "1" star was the lowest rating I'll just leave it there. Father's Day brunch encountered half empty restaurant. Should have known :( Drinks were watered down, food was burnt. They still charged a 18% gratuity, Plus I paid $13 to park. This is a joke, save your time and $$

Yelp
Best food! Ginger glaze salmon and candied yams. So flavorful and chef Jones takes so much pride in his cooking. Tammy treats you like a best friend. Emon and Chris are doing an amazing job with this place.

Yelp
This restaurant is located in downtown Decatur and yes I had to pay to park. I feel like anything with downtown in front of it I just need to be prepared to pay to park anyhoo upon entering this place was very festive and beautifully lit with Christmas lights and decor. Our hostess was great gave us good advice on drinks and menu items. I ordered the lemon drop and shrimp and grits. I have to be honest I was disappointed in both. The lemon drop was extremely sour but I still finished it now the shrimp and grits was literally grilled shrimp on a bed of grits smh ‍ the shrimp was seasoned and grilled to perfection but my grits just plain grits. I was expecting the shrimp to have a nice gravy to dress up the grits but that's just me. The prices were reasonable and I will definitely be back I just won't order the shrimp and grits. Check out my video and until next time SYOY!

Yelp
My daughter and I popped in from the hotel next door and I am so glad we did! The service is impeccable, the food fantastic and the music?! So much fun. We had Shrimp & Grits, Mac n Cheese, Crab Cakes and fries and holy moly, everything was outstanding!

Yelp
I loved this place!! The food was great. We can between lunch and dinner so there weren't too many people there. The inside is absolutely beautiful. Nice bar, seating and staff! The salmon croquettes were delicious! The wings were amazing and the conversation starter cards truly kept us engaged and welcomed. I'll definitely be returning!!

Yelp
I had a beautiful five star experience here from start to finish. The service was friendly and quick, our food came out hot and delicious. I love the way other servers check in on us while dining to make sure we are good. I call that great team work! It's not everyday you see fried ribs on the menu, so had to order the fried ribs and they did not disappoint. The mac and cheese and yams went very well with this entrée. My sons enjoyed their dishes as well, we bragged on the southern flavor of ever dish. I also enjoyed the lemon pound cake for dessert. I can't wait to visit here again very soon.

Yelp
We entered into the restaurant at 9:20pm and the manager told us the kitchen is closed so they cannot serve us any food. She was somewhat rude about turning us down to eat too. We are out of towners, looking for good southern food in Atlanta, and it was our first day in town, so it was truly disappointing to have this experience.
google avatar

Yelp
The fried chicken wings are amazing. So much so that we got an additional order. However, mimosas are not tasty and the rum punch needs work. Service was good. The restaurant including the restrooms were very clean when we visited.

Yelp
The fish and grits were good. My wife pork chops and grits were good. The waitress was entertaining and nice.

Yelp
Love the area!! Downtown Decatur village vibe.. looks trendy and cool. Place is cute, dim lights, nice music, high end feels. Service was great! Super friendly staff, wide range of food options (dinner menu). Love the patio! Can't wait to have a large party here! Great cocktails- Moscow Mules and mojitos were perfect, one of the best bar menu selections I've had in the city! I tried the crab cakes, my friend had the salmon. Everything was delicious! I also made a to go order for my rest day at home (chicken and waffles!!Since I heard a few people ordering). Prices were cool, high quality choices and I will definitely come back again and try out a few more options and cocktails. If we get too lit, there's a hotel upstairs and just make a night of it!

Yelp
I attended an event in the hotel this restaurant is attached to. My freind and I did look at the menu and brunch option before attending the event but decided to go to another place. Since we had already wanted to try to restaurant we decided to give it a try. Very rough start when walking in, no one was attentive and we had to ask multiple people if we could be seated. Once we finally were seated, no water was given for about 20 minutes. We asked our server twice and finally she brought us a glass. We were started with corn bread, it had a sweet glaze on it. The flavor was nice, the cornbread was tasty. Due to the lack of water for the time we waited we were not able to continue eating it due to its sweet nature. I ordered their chicken tenders and fries, I just wanted a small light meal. Unfortunately the tenders were very dry and flavorless. The fries , though they looked seasoned they lacked flavor as well. Somehow after waiting close to an hour the food was cold and felt just heated up and plated. There was no reason for the food not to be fresh or hot when brought out , I think the other meals were made after mine and instead of bringing them out as they finished they held them together to bring out at once. A member of my party ordered their felices eggs as an appetizer, she loved them but as she continued to eat she felt a strange film form in her throat and there was an after taste. She ordered the fried salmon and Mac and cheese with potato salad. She described the salmon as well mad, and hot ( unlike mine) but flavorless. She asked for a box and took the items home to recook herself. The last member of the party ordered fried chicken, which was not hot nor warm like mine, dry and flavorless. She ordered sweet tea witch was great in her opinion. She also asked for more of the corn bread which was never replenished even though it was promised. She hoped at the minimum some would be brought out before we left and it was not. Overall, won't be choosing to come back. Glad to support black owned businesses but this one lacked the flavor I'm accustomed to. They are great at sweet foods but lack flavor diversity. I may give their brunch a chance but no time soonZ
google avatar

TeErica P.

Yelp
The food was a 9 out of 10. I don't think I would have stayed if it wasn't for Tammy going above to get me some cornbread that's only served after 5pm. I'm like, I have to have cornbread for my greens( which was fye). She kept us in the seats from leaving. The atmosphere was chilled and laid back. Overall, if you come to Platez, make sure to ask for Tammy, she will not disappoint you!!!

Nancyjo H.

Yelp
I went to Platez for the first time- I can't say enough good things about my visit. I was instantly greeted and sat at a table- so exceptional customer service! I had catfish and grits- WOW real down home cooking! They also served cornbread which was so good. I was so full i could not even think about dessert. I didn't see a big selection, but would have liked to see cheesecake on the menu for the next time. Thank you for having a great restaurant! I will return and recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
The service was great and we both enjoyed the food It was my Godmother's birthday I had the shrimp and grits and she had the fish and grits The grits were very creamy and flavorful! C. Mackey

Yelp
Chicken fried thigh sandwich. Does this sound appetizing? For $15 your Chicken sandwich better stand up to fast food at the minimum. Yet you used a cheaper cut of chicken, charge more and manage to completely mess it up in every way possible. I didn't enjoy the surprise of biting into a molten hot greasy gummy piece of unseasoned fried chicken thigh meat that did not have a chance to rest first. The chicken tasted like bland fried flour and grease. Why do you not use a chicken breast like almost every other restaurant? What a disaster. My side salad was ok, but I don't like being handed a couple packets of store brand salad dressing to rip open and junk up my table with extra garbage. Salad dressing needs to be put into a small cup, especially at a nicer establishment that I'm sure yours wants to be. It's a shame too as my iced tea was wonderful, the Cajun mayo tasted great and the staff and environment of the restaurant are very nice. The sweet cornbread as a welcome serving is a nice touch. Fix these other things please.

Yelp
The location of Platez is convenient! This place is a full vibe. Our server Bree was amazing. The restaurant had a DJ and played old school RnB and line dance music which added to the aesthetic of the restaurant. The drinks were strong and the food was out of this world. The cheese grits and Mac n cheese were my favorites! I see myself visiting Platez again. You will definitely get your money's worth here! I could not find anything to complain about.
google avatar

Ashlynn L.

Yelp
Food was pretty good! I really enjoyed what I got (salmon croquettes, Mac and cheese, and collard greens) and I definitely come back to get it again. Our sever was kind and the service was pretty good as well. The one thing I didn't care for was the ambiance of the place. The vibe is nice but the DJ had the music super loud (and it didn't help that we were up front near his booth). I don't mind music being played while I'm eating, but I mind when it's loud to the point that I feel like I have to scream at the top of my lungs just so the person in front and beside me could hear me. There's no reason why I should be shouting just so the person directly in front of me can hear what I'm saying. Other than that I enjoyed my time here. There's areas for parking next to the restaurant and across the street. Parking cost depends on how long you stay (I paid $12 and some change in the lot across the street.) but they do have a designated $10 parking with a few spaces available for that price. All in all the food was good and I'd only recommend going here if you're looking to turn up. If you're looking for a calm, quiet, and intimate spot this is not the place to go.

Yelp
I had the chance to check this spot today with a friend. Located in downtown Decatur, I was lucky enough to find street parking right across from the restaurant but my friend had to park a few blocks down at nearby parking garage. Upon arrival we were immediately seated and greeted by our host. He was kind and explained how the restaurant was new and that they just opened up 2 weeks ago. Overall the food was decent to good. It could came out hotter/more fresh. I ordered their red velvet waffle with a side of eggs, sausage, grits. Eggs and sausage was as expected taste wise. I do t think you can really go wrong with that. Same with the grits. The waffle was okay. The extra stuff like pecan and whatever cream that came with it gave it the extra kick of flavor that it needed. The pancake itself wasn't too sweet which was good. Again just wished the food came out hot and fresh. My friend ordered steak and eggs and she said the steak was okay but could've been more flavorful. The only other thing/complaint I have that the server/service was at times forgetful. Too many times we had to remind him that we're still waiting on x,y and z. I get it's a new establishment and they still trying to get things figured out so I'll give the benefit of the doubt there. Nice place overall and will recommend.

Chris P.

Yelp
My first time here and I had a pleasant time. We were seated immediately and the interior was very cute. They give you this little basket of warm honey butter cornbread and it was delicious! However, after ordering it took 30 minutes to get our food. The coffee also tasted burnt and it was inedible. The chicken and waffles were crispy and flavorful, but I do wish it had more peaches. Its a "specialty" waffle so I expected more peaches than this. It also took a very long time for someone to bring us our check after we requested it. The staff is very nice but the wait times made my experience a lot worse.
google avatar

Shireen J.

Yelp
Good food. 18% Gratuity was included in bill which was not disclosed prior to ordering. We would not even have known it had we not requested to see the screen showing details of bill. Since the service was less than par, we would not have left 18%, but we just paid and left. Not surprised that we were the only patrons in the whole place.

Yelp
8/27/2025 while staying at the Hampton inn, decided to try plate, i just ordered catfish cooked soft it was soggy, fries & Mac &. cheese horrible, taste like a doctored up box, this place definitely needs a real cook! charging that much for food, needs to improve! no seasoning in the Mac & cheese. to use classification of soul food! was definitely disappointing! will not recommend wasting your money!

Yelp
Ugh, I'm a little sad to do this, but I have to be honest. We came here on a Saturday evening and we're sat right away. Our server wasn't horrible, but didn't introduce herself, smile, engage us in anyway. We didn't get water refills without asking. We had the fried chicken, fried deviled eggs and salmon croquettes. The eggs were horrible. The thick layer of batter is wayyyy too much. I was able to pull off a thick layer of batter that was at least 1 inch thick, tasteless dough. Everything fried seems to be fried in the same thick batter with little taste. The yams were decent. I had high hopes but the food disappointed us greatly and very much overpriced for what you get.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was ok, the food was served cold, the owner quickly responded and returned with warm food. The food took over 45 minutes to be sever but the owner again returned with warm cornbread which was very delicious. The overall experience was ok. Pro's Clean bathrooms Well seasoned food Good amount of food but not enough to take home Con's No parking you need to have $10 cash to park across the street. Long wait to be served Staff unable to recommend anything too new to have any recommendations or drink selection to advise. Very pricey not a good value I expected a better quality of steak for the price. Recommendation Train the staff Lower the prices because it doesn't match the quality Don't rush ppl out we would have order dessert but felt rushed

Yelp
Don't let some of these reviews block your blessing! This place is a HIT! Everything was phenomenal! The chicken, the waffle, the fish, the greens, the cornbread, the mimosas! The service was superb! And the DJ was playing all the right tunes! If I had anything I wished was better about the experience, it would be the parking. You can park on the street, but I had to circle around about 20 minutes before I got a spot! Make your reservation now!

Yelp
This place is housed inside a local hotel with an outdoor entrance as well as a walk through entrance from the hotel. The restaurant is decorated nicely and my party was greeted immediately and sat us. I was excited to try this place as it's in my hood. But when I received my order(salmon croquettes) it didn't look done, so I had to touch it to feel its doneness. It was fully cooked, but it was a bit flavorless. One of my friends ordered the French Toast. I tried it and it was bland. The only person that enjoyed their food was the one that ordered an omelette. It didn't impress me. We had pretty good service but the food definitely disappointed us.
google avatar

Jas L.

Yelp
The food is great! Came here for a Sunday brunch and I couldn't wait to try the food after seeing a video on TikTok! Around the table we ordered a variety of different meals with mimosas and I ordered the Salmon Croquette meal. It came with two house made salmon croquettes, a side of brunch potatoes, two fresh eggs served any style (I got mine sunny side up), a biscuit, and I ordered an extra side of grits. The croquettes were hot and fresh and tasted just like my grandmothers. The eggs and grits were also delicious! The music wasn't too loud but it was a great vibe. I can't wait to return!

Camia M.

Yelp
I came here with my friends for brunch on Sunday. I was excited to try this place out. It is in the city of Decatur. There is street park but it was so busy the we ended up parking in the deck across the street. The deck was $18 which I wasn't a fan of. We missed our deadline by 15 min and ended up having to wait an additional 30-45 min to sit. There is a very small bar (seats 5) so we ended up standing and waiting. There is a bench outside though but it was too cold for us. The waitress was very nice and food was good. It is a family friendly restaurant but the music is a bit loud. They also ran out of champagne, mango and pineapple flavor, and a few other things while we were there. You do get cornbread as a free appetizer which was delicious. And I also recommend the fried deviled eggs. Overall, I would like to return and try their dinner.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to give Platez a try for brunch as we were in the area. There weren't many people there so we assumed we get pretty quick and decent service but boy were we wrong. It took nearly an hour to get our starters (they were tasty btw besides the burnt French toast) and then another 20 minutes to get our entree. I ordered the Catfish & grits which was described as a piece of catfish ,Gouda grits, and a Cajun cream sauce. My wife ordered the shrimp and grits which was described similar , shrimp with Gouda grits and a Cajun cream sauce. Unfortunately what we got were grainy unflavored grits with sliced American cheese that wasn't even melted. The catfish was fried extremely hard and the shrimp certainly appeared to be some frozen cooked shrimped that was sautéed. We were extremely disappointed and when we explained our disappointment we were told that it was due to new chefs just starting that day. We were compensated and did not have to pay for those entrees and my wife was given some chicken as a replacement so kudos to them for attempting to make it right but it was just a complete waste of our time and those entrees were unacceptable.

Yelp
Arrived with reservations Sunday around 2pm party of 6. Didn't need them really but good to have as we sat down immediately. The waiters were kind and pretty attentive. I only saw street parking but it was available. The food was fair. Not terrible but missing flavor. Waffles seemed like I just made them Out of my kitchen but the chicken was season And fried really good. Mac and cheese and grits were bland. My biggest complaint is the music was way too loud for a conversation with table mates. And it wasn't even full. Maybe 3 Parties of people in the entire place. I may try again as I prefer to support local black owned businesses.

Yelp
First of all this place has a lot of energy. We did have some trouble getting a table, but that's my fault for not making a reservation. Once sat we experienced amazing service and the food was great as well. If you're not wanting to indulge in a high energy spot with good food and awesome drink choices, you may want to visit another restaurant. But if you want something a little more social give Platez a try...and thank me with a "like" later. The parking in downtown Decatur isn't bad either garage or paid on street is in abundance. You can stroll through and enjoy the area before or after your visit. We enjoyed ourselves so much...forgot to take photos, it happens ‍ LOL.

Yelp
This was my second time coming here. First time was for brunch, today was for dinner. I enjoyed the space much more today. I guess they were hosting an event the first time. Today I had the fried ribs with mac n cheese and greens as my sides. The ribs were just a tad bit salty, but it could just be me. The Mac n cheese and greens were very tasty. I ordered the strawberry Hennessy margarita and it was bomb. The cornbread didn't last long on our table because we gobbled it down almost immediately. The service was good, food was pretty good, and the ambiance was very chill and comfortable. The only thing I have a problem with and this is most restaurants is the automatic gratuity when they are only 2 ppl at the table. Let me decide to tip. Don't make that decision for me.

Yelp
This place is fabulous! Casual positive-energy ambiance. Great food, great menu, great wine by the glass - and attentive waitstaff. The crab cakes were delicious. They were on a bed of spinach which was cooked in flavorful oils. The side of grits topped off a perfect dinner. This is a not to miss spot for dinner in Decatur.

Yelp
I wish I could tell you the visit was AMAZING, but sadly I cannot. Some friends were there to celebrate and had been looking forward to the food, drinks, and vibe......sadly no ever even came over to bring us water. I am the first to understand when a place is super busy, but that wasn't the case here! We literally sat for an hour and nothing. What we did notice was that there appeared to be a political candidate there having a campaign event of some type, and while I can appreciate that, you can't just ignore your other patrons.....this is Atlanta, you won't last long with that type of service....there are VIPs all over so you have to strike a balance! I'm not saying I wouldn't return, but management has to do better with their attentiveness to the other customers, not just the important ones.

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance were all GREAT! From entering into the restaurant, the ordering process and the live music...everything was to our satisfaction.

Yelp
The waitress was nice however, I was surprised by the 18% gratuity added to all meals. Then the supposedly Cat fish was fried so hard I thought I was cutting a steak. Not to mention, the fish had no taste or seasoning. My advice, NEW CHEF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH forgot, the sweet tea was unusual!! Never again and Highly Disappointed as a new neighbor!!!! Did I mention the fish was the smallest cut I've ever seen!!!

Yelp
I come here pretty often. The restaurant is under new management so the food menu is a bit different. But the food is good! My favorite is the catfish and grits and also the French toast!

Yelp
I arrived at the location around 11:10am on a Saturday morning (ideal time for brunch).y party requested to sit at the bar which had a nice look to it. Once we viewed the menu and decided on drinks we noticed it had been 15 mins since anyone acknowledged us. After waiting another 5 mins the waitress approached us and said "we don't have a bar tender so we can't make drinks, if you want to wait you can if not it's fine" and she walked away. Me and my party proceeded to exit the establishment and search for a new brunch option. We ended up at FOLKART it's walking distance around the corner and has a very nice BAR and ambiance. I had high hopes for Platez being a African American owned restaurant but as usual it was unprofessional

Yelp
Dinner with a friend and we chose Platez because I heard the food was delicious. The recommendation was correct the food is on point. Our server was also serving as the bartender and she makes an excellent drink. The place is cozy with a nice decor. I will definitely return.

Yelp
The food is decent, the service is awful. We arrived on a Sunday around 12:30. The restaurant was probably 70% full, but we had about a 10 minute wait to be seated and another 15 minutes before they figured out who was assigned to our table. When the staff that was assigned, finally realized they were our server, they indicated that we would need to wait another 20 minutes or so before she could even put in our order because the kitchen was backed up! Fine, my friend ordered a drink and I ordered a strawberry lemonade. Raspberry lemonade only took maybe five minutes to come out, while the alcoholic beverage took another 15 minutes. And, this was only the case, because we kept asking about the drink. Finally, we ordered, and because we were just getting chicken and waffles, the server indicated it shouldn't take long. it probably took another 15 minutes before we received our food which was decent and taste. I like my waffles, more crispy, those are soft waffles. The fried chicken was pretty seasoned. Ultimately, it took a minute before we could get our bill. Because we were in a rush, I didn't get to look at that gratuity was already added. So in advertently, I added another 18% that I'm requesting a refund for since the service did not warrant two tips.
