Had an opportunity to visit PLS on Post on a Monday evening with two friends around 8:30pm. We were coming from another dinner but we had heard about this new spot specializing in smash burgers, with a bar, so we wanted to check it out. It wasn't too busy, given that it was Labor Day, so we were able to just grab any seat we wanted after ordering at the counter.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is casual, but thoughtfully decorated. While they're selling burgers, cocktails, and milkshakes, there are notes of blue, brown, and green (plants) all around which makes for a nice earth-like ambiance. I especially loved the salt and pepper shakers which looked like Coca Cola bottles.
To try one of the smash burgers, I opted for the Koren smash, which consisted of sharp cheddar, korean cucumbers, and gochujang bbq glaze. Objectively speaking, this was a really good smash burger but the one thing that threw me off was that I couldn't taste the Korean inspiration. The cucumbers were there, but the intensity of the flavor seemed low, and we could barely see the glaze. It ultimately tasted like a very good American smash burger, but i do just wish the Korean flavors were amplified. I also tried one of the groovy shakes. The come in at $14-$17, which threw me off at first, but when it came out, I understood why. These shakes are LOADED. The cookies & cream shake consists of a crushed oreo rimmed glass, chocolate chip cookie dough, hot fudge, and housemade whipped cream. Not to mentioned the giant cookie on top! This is a shake that can easily be shared by two people and was seriously delicious.
