Where to Eat and Drink Along the St. Charles Avenue Streetcar Line

"Pluck is the brainchild of sommelier Skye LaTorre, who pairs a spunky menu of Spanish, Creole, and global flavors with her devotion to the grape. Pluck offers indoor and courtyard dining at 722 Girod Street just off St. Charles Avenue. This place flies under the radar but deserves attention for its creative menu — developed by chef consultant Heathcliffe Hailey — and thoughtful approach to wine drinking and education." - Beth D'Addono, Clair Lorell

It's rare that I will eat at the same restaurant twice when visiting a city for a week or less. I made an exception this week - eating here once with my wife and again several days later entertaining clients. Great atmosphere, wine, food, and service. With roughly 400 labels, the wine list deserves its own review. I didn't count but I'd guess there are at least 75 labels accessibly priced at well under $100 a bottle. That's typically where I do my wine drinking. If you're lucky enough to be seated in Kate's section you can simply explain the types of wines you are fond of and let her take you on a journey through obscure and very lovely bottles. This alone is a good reason to dine as a party of six - more bottles, more journey, more fun. Not to be outdone by the wine cellar, the kitchen swings well above its weight-class. The daily fish crudo is a must. Everyone loved the Tamarind Glazed Cauliflower. Charcuterie boards are beautifully prepared and include a nice variety of meats, cheeses, and spreads. As far as entrees go... meat lovers will fall in love with the braised pork shoulder - perfectly cooked meat that practically melts in the mouth. The daily "Market Fish" is served in a bowl with crispy rice, beets, peanuts & chili lime jam - delicious. Enough said. Go.

So I'm in New Orleans for work and I stopped by this place last night after going to Seaworthy to find out they weren't serving hot food. I had passed by this place and thought it had a nice ambiance so decided to go on (mostly because I saw that it has brussel sprouts on the menu). But to be honest, the cauliflower was the star of the show. I actually came by again today because of that damn cauliflower. Highly recommend it! The brussel sprouts were fine, but the bacon they had in it was a bit too hard in my opinion.

Came here for a birthday night out. Very glad we made a reservation because they were really busy on a Fri night! Their selection of wines by the glass is decent and they had a long list of by-the-bottle. We also ordered some food - brussel sprouts, croquettes and the pastrami sandwich, which ended up being our favorite. Our server was well informed about the wines on offer and able to answer our questions. I would definitely recommend for date night or a small group celebration.

The service was really nice. Our server was really patient and knowledgeable about selecting a wine to our liking. The food paired really well with the wine we selected. Intentional on the servers behalf. Definitely will be attending again & recommending to others.

Delightful little wine bar and restaurant in the warehouse district. Excellent bottle selection with a daily tasting. The dinner was very good, I had the red fish special with a romesco sauce. The selection is not expansive but what I have was very good.. I finished it off with the key lime crème brûlée. Definitely worth a visit!

Pluck offers artisanal meals along with a thoughtfully curated wine list making this fine place to dine. The restaurant has a charming patio tucked away in a private courtyard. We had a very enjoyable meal from apps to dessert. Prices are affordable and service was wonderful.

What a fine place to pluck down and enjoy some wine with some good nibbles. I had the beurre ham sandwich which was delicious. A crunchy outside and flavorful ham and cheese … what is not to like. If you have more time you can imbibe in some fine wines. The restaurant is well designed like you are sitting in someone’s living room. Worth a visit.

Everything about Pluck is extraordinary! I had dinner there while in town for a conference on Tuesday, and we all agreed to go back on Thursday to try more wines and food from the menu! They have daily wine offerings and ever-changing seafood for their appetizer crudo and main catch dish, which keeps things fun. It's definitely on my list to revisit when I'm back in NOLA.

Yelp
This is an amazing place right on Girod. Their selection of wines is inspired, the staff is friendly and the ambience is exactly what you'd want from a city wine bar. Their food is very complimentary to the wines they offer and it's affordable. I'm quite impressed with the cheese selection. It's definitely a place to splurge but it's worth it. The little booths are perfect for a date night or catch up with a bestie.

Yelp
Really nice upscale casual wine bar that's open later than other restaurants, so great place to stop for late night food with chill vibes. So happy this place is close! Came in around 11 and their kitchen was still open, service was awesome from the moment we walked in. We were sat and had drinks within minutes. Ordered the crab toast and fish collar special. Great late night menu and the food was delicious. Also whatever special sauce they had on the side, I'm pretty sure I asked for two more. Really great selection of wine and the server was knowledgeable and helped guide me to something I really enjoyed. This place seems like a top choice for date night or dark vibey encounters. I'm fairly certain I'll end up here a couple of nights a month.

Yelp
I walk in to a cute looking wine bar. I was walking alone since my friends wanted to get a foot massage. Thanks to yelp, I found this place. At first, I just wanted to look around and see what I can drink here. I was asked to pick a spot and chose the window. Tried 2 types of white wines and they were both lovely with good profiles. It was suggested to get an appetizer that was french white anchovies "Boquerones" and lemon served alongside a cute baguette. It was a true delight. I enjoyed my time sipping on wine having a little date to myself in NoLa. Perfect for a foodie, wine-lover, and a chill vibey aesthetic with a cute atmosphere place. The manager (probably/or owner) was very knowledgeable in suggestions that it made my adventure pallette accommodate such a treat. Great location for small intimate group settings, perfect for a date night, GNO!

Yelp
Wow!!!! Very nice place!!! Wine selection is pretty good. Food was delicious, had the olives, boquerones, cheese board, steak frites, watermelon tuna crudo, duck & the goat flan. Everything was excellent!!!!

Yelp
Excellent food, wine and service. The music is a bit off with the atmosphere - Lizzo doesn't really match the romantic vibe, but as I'm solo traveling, I don't really mind. Great place for dinner. I got the chicken and it was spot on. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Pluck used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The wine is still on point but the options for food are extremely limited for vegans and or vegetarians. I was told they have a new chef but their old menu included divine mushroom dumplings and a few other veggie plates that made it more than worth going to. In my last visit there was one thing I could eat on the whole menu and the only response I got from the server was that it was a new chef with a new menu which leaves little reason to go back. It's a shame because the outdoor space is excellent and brings a nice ambiance as you enjoy food and drinks but unless there are more options added I won't be back.

Brian P.

Yelp
Stopped in here because it was close to the hotel. Seemed a bit stuffy at first, but as we started talking to the staff and read the wine list, things became clear. They are a different type of place. The owner has taken a lot of time and effort crafting a unique wine list. We didn't eat, but the menu looked good.

Yelp
If your looking for a true wine experience look no further. Small & intimate. Service was stellar. Food was excellent. Makes a great date night for wine lovers. Staff so knowledgeable.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Incredibly vibrant staff in a well defined and decorated space, throttled only by server indecisiveness and uncomfortably hot temperatures through the front glass windows. The place is a true gem. The Owner, a pleasant soul. Our food was terrific. The service from a self-proclaimed "occasional staffer" was less than stellar and sullied the experience. We will try it again...perhaps when visiting New Orleans in the fall when the sparkle of the sun through the front glass panes is of a lesser intensity in mid-August.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this intimate cool vibe wine bar walking during the day and bookmark to try it at night. The decor is modern and feels like a NYC spot. The wine list is curated with boutique wines and they also have a fun food menu that offers unique dishes. The staff is all very nice and they all work together as a team to serve the customers. My favorite food items on the menu were the : SMOKED YELLOWFIN TUNA SPREAD ON CROSTINI, $11 * excellent tasting Country Ham; House-Cured- on the charcuterie plate JAMBON BEURRE, $12 House-made pickles I was very impressed with the baguette they use for there gourmet sandwiches. It's pairs great with the wine. They ran out of a few main dishes so we didn't get to try any main plates. I would highly recommend this spot for a wine date or if you love wine.

Yelp
Pluck wines is an nice upscale place to go with a small group of friends to sip tasty wines. I would recommend you come but eat before! The server was very knowledgeable about the wine selection.

Yelp
Pluck wine has great food! The location and the ambiance is lovely. I was in the service industry so ai understand when things are slammed or in the weeds I'll still give a 5 start even tho service was not great my server stood at the bar texting while I was waiting to check out for my ticket to head to the bacchus parade I literally was the only table there at the time and she gladly took her time to bring me my receipt so long I went to to POS and waited for her along with the other two in my party. Other than than that great place and great wine selection.

Shane M.

Yelp
Very cool little spot. Good food at reasonable price. Wine options were extensive and what we ordered all were great. Server was attentive and quick. Would definitely come again. Only 4 stars because we didn't order entrees to give a full review.

Nicoya W.

Yelp
Meh...is all I can say about this place. Stopped here before a concert last week with a friend. We ordered the watermelon salad, the ceviche, and the mushroom pasta dish. We each had a glass of still and sparkling rosé. The ceviche was not fresh, the fish was over cooked. The watermelon salad was mediocre. And the mushroom pasta dish was pretty good. Service was good. Just not sure I'd be back for that menu.

Yelp
This restaurant was one of my favorites in New Orleans for so many reasons. For one, their team went above and beyond to accommodate our group at the last minute and really saved the night as a result! The service was fantastic from start to finish. Truly excellent, including thoughtful recommendations, perfect pacing, and just a very welcoming vibe. The food was fantastic- many of the dishes we tried were much lighter than standard local fare but still true to New Orleans (gotta try the frog legs and the shrimp entree). The outdoor space is absolutely dreamy. It's small but so sweet and quaint and for our group was absolutely perfect. And another thing- the prices here are REALLY great. The bill was maybe half or 2/3 of what I would have expected based on our ordering and the quality. Definitely recommend this spot and I hope to be back again!

Yelp
This place exceeded our expectations! So cute and quaint-love the romantic ambiance with low lighting, with great food/drink, music, impeccable service. The food menu had more options than I was expecting and everything we tried was delicious! The wine list is extensive and you can order by the glass or bottle. They do also have a few beer/cider/sake options. We got the fig wood smoked nuts and Brussel sprouts to start and both were tasty and well seasoned. Then we got the Apple and goat cheese harvest salad which was awesome-so fresh and light with a perfect amount of goodies to balance out the spring mix. The rabbit confit was fine-not great, and just maybe not for us but would still be favored by others. It was a little dry and the bones were kind of annoying to eat around. We finished up with the escargot, which was a special for the night-it was very traditional, served in I believe a butter sauce and with crostinis on the side-holy moly it was amazing, and eaten with champagne-such a perfect boujee treat! Overall, we were very impressed with this place and had been wanting to try but were even more pleased with it than expected. We will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Beautiful place with a very interesting and inventive wine list. Very knowledgeable staff. The food is also very good. A warm, welcoming spot.

Katherina L.

Yelp
The wine list is amazing and the offerings by the glass are always fun and interesting varietals. Great small plates

Susan E.

Yelp
Outstanding small restaurant, a real masterpiece of a New Orleans venue. One is instantly transported into a leisurely canvas setting, the better to enjoy an expert selection of wines and meals constructed with unique taste sensations. You don't want to miss this hidden gem: a true blend of wine and food.

Shaunice W.

Yelp
My friend and I were the only black people there. The staff literally only talked to us to ask if we wanted another drink and if we didn't, they would not engage with us like our counterparts, I.e. make recommendations, check on us or check on us after our drinks arrivetc. Would not recommend.
google avatar

Forough J.

Yelp
Ok! They are AMAZING!! I've been at Pluck Wines 3 times and every time I enjoyed my experience there. Here is why: Wine options Cheese board options Unique dishes Bot too long and confusing menu Adorable Ambiance Good service Just one suggestion: those round tables are so cute but small for 2 parties. I will be back soon!

Yelp
Great new spot in the CBD! Nice selection of wines and delicious bites. I stopped with a friend and we had some bubbles, the fried goat cheese (a fave holdover from Mimi's), and a cheese board. Asked for more bread which was delivered cheerfully. We ate outside which was a bit too hot - will definitely reserve inside next time. Totally worth a stop! I'll be back!

Yara A.

Yelp
Great service and delicious appetizers and foods, The wine selection is perfect Highly recommended
google avatar

Yelp
Pluck is located in the warehouse district and feels bright and new. It is a wine bar but my experience with the food was equally as good. The ham sandwich which has a much more elegant name was delightfully crunchy on the outside and soft and flavorful inside. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating in this handsomely designed venue. It is a great place for a lunch snack and of course a flight of wine.

Yelp
I dined in about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I believe Emily was waiting on us. Not only was she super personable and friendly but she was attentive and patient with us. Now before I go into this detailed note of a review, keep in mind this was 3 weeks ago and my descriptions are at best..... elementary. Nonetheless, please enjoy!! I was starving but also have eyes that almost always want more than my stomach can handle. For appetizers, we had the tuna toast, it's definitely called something else, way more decorative than just tuna on toast. IT WAS SO GODDAMN GOOD!!! Had I not had eyes for everything on the menu, we wounded ended our meal with a second order. We also wound up getting a cheese plate. I wanna say there was goat cheese as the main with a fig sauce, homemade pickles and a cured ham. If it wasn't goat cheese it was definitely a funky cheese because why would you get anything other than a funky cheese? As a main, we had Shrimp with a pecan and a liqueur sauce of sorts; which I was very disappointed about when I first looked at it. The thing is; I was just complaining about how restaurants will charge you $35 for 4 small pieces of shrimp and here comes Emily with 3 pieces of shrimp and a piece of toast. Now though I can't recall the price I know we paid a fair amount or the plate. Nonetheless, not only were the shrimp a fair size but the combination of flavors paired in the plate to compliment the shrimp were so good I barely notice my "small" portion! We also had quail, which I don't recall ever having before. It was paired with a potato compote along with spinach. I was thoroughly satisfied... with everything. The wine was also crisp and delicious, perfect for a hot summers day! I know there are a lot of exclamations in my review but I can over communicate enough how much I enjoyed the food at this wine bar. Hats off to the chef, who at some point came out with one of our mains. I hadn't had a chance to thank him because I was partly working but Can't wait to go back and just enjoy the ambiance of the space! Sorry I hadn't caught better photos, as I mentioned I was hungry and everything looked so good, I just dived right in!

Yelp
Pluck is a sweet little wine bar in New Orleans' Warehouse district and a great spot for a quiet drink at the end of the night. After spending a few hours on the more wild side of town with friends, we were absolutely dying for something other than a frozen daiquiri, so we snuck off and found Pluck, luckily open until midnight. We stopped in a bit close to closing time, but the friendly staff was gracious enough to seat us on their chic and relaxing little patio. We settled on a couple glasses of refreshing natural wine and sampled their delicious popcorn, and feeling refreshed, were quickly on our way. A perfect and relaxing way to end our night. We hope to come back next time to see more of what Pluck has to offer.

Kenny S.

Yelp
Great intimate vibe, yummy bites and a very knowledgeable and fun staff. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
The food was amazing, we got the civeche, steak, and shrimp. Had to be one of the best meals we ever had. Service was amazing, overall a must dining experience.

Steve W.

Yelp
This place is a gem if you are ready to explore wine on an epic level. Comfortable, tasteful casual and with a great vibe. Tried various wines at the recommendation of the som and paired with an assortment of cheese and meats. All fantastic. We will definitely be back to do more of their menu.

Madison O.

Yelp
Last night was my first time at Pluck. We chose to celebrate a friend's birthday here and am so glad we did. The wine list by the bottle is extensive. Most of their wines are very well priced and they carry a wide selection in every price range. We ordered the Traboules (enjoyed it immensely) and then we happily took recommendations on what to follow it up with. The servers have extensive wine knowledge and our group was happy with everything they suggested. Ambiance is spot on. We didn't order much food aside from the charcuterie and croquettes. Both were great but paled in comparison to the wine (which is supposed to be the star of the show here). We did all forget to eat the birthday cake we brought...which only can mean that the servers are incredibly attentive and our glasses were never empty.
google avatar

Nathan H.

Yelp
Always love Pluck! They have a pluck of the day and excellent food choices. 25 page wine list!
google avatar

MJ L.

Yelp
Had the most delightful late night repast here. Found it by accident. Had mushroom dumplings, cheese and meat board, mushroom grilled cheese, crudo and a crab zaap. Never have we experienced such a piquant, sweet, savory, tart, aromatic and surprisingly completely excellent late night nibbles in our life. Paired with a summery savingon blanc it was a non standard New Orleans life changing meal. Unforgettable. Thank you!
google avatar

Yelp
I came for the Chilean Chardonnay. Such a cute new wine bar in CBD. Love the music. Great outdoor area and open space.
google avatar

Bella B.

Yelp
Small wine bar with a wide selection of wine and casual but chic atmosphere! The interior aesthetic is modern but relaxed. You can roll in wearing scrubs work clothes business casual or leggings. Lots of wine options for reasonable prices and the list is extensive! I could have sat there all night tasting them all. We got the goat cheese bread bites and they were the perfect accent to go with our Scandinavian orange wine! Counting down the days till I go back to pluck great service and beautiful dining experience
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
This place is so adorable. Great bites! Great wines and bubbles. The decor is amazing and the vibe is just right! Very happy with the choice to come here. Service was amazing. Check this gem out!

Yelp
One of the best meals of my life. Highly recommend the shrimp, ceviche and a crisp glass of orange wine. Our server was kind, funny and helpful. This place has the perfect ambiance for a mellow evening. Thank you!!!

Yelp
My friends and I wandered in after dining nearby. We sat at the bar and had a great experience. The atmosphere was classy but not pretentious. The employees were friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us a few suggestions and each one was spot on. Also the meat and cheese plate was delicious!
google avatar

Raquel A.

Yelp
This tasted like northerners came to the south but have yet to discover seasonings. You would think the rabbit leg confit would be moist but was extremely dry and again just no seasoning. Also had the pasta and like the basil was cool. I had four noodles and 37 mushrooms in the dish. But like some pepper or tonys at least would have definitely helped. Extremely overpriced for the portion and quality. Took the rabbit to go, my dog will appreciate the leftovers and the lack of seasoning wont upset his tummy.

Bea W.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere but overpriced- ice cream dessert w caramel-sauce tasted bitter and burnt (not because of the dark chocolate) A small bowl of popcorn with season salt- $6- like really?? It's popcorn Wine list extensive but some of the lower end wines significantly overpriced- such as one glass is about the price of the whole bottle retail. Pleasant but would not go back
google avatar

Andrew Z.

Yelp
It's incredibly rare to have such an incredible experience, with attentive friendly service and five star dining in a post-pandemic service world. The rabbit confit was worth the price of admission alone, I also grabbed the pastrami sandwich and a side of brussels sprouts - both bursting with fresh flavor. They were incredibly accommodating to my allergies and everything came out quickly and perfectly made. A hip, modern atmosphere well-suited for date night.
google avatar

Jeremy L.

Yelp
Rare 5 star. The small plates are all great. We got each of the sandwiches off the menu and the rabbit off the entree. This place is about the wine which is all great and the servers know their wine. Ambience and service were 100%. Keep in mind this is a place to drink wine, but the added bonus is the food is well made and portion sizes are decent. Will come back
google avatar

Liz W.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and selection. I agree with another reviewer that it's a casual but chic vibe. Small place but great selection, nicely priced bites and wines by the glass. Note this is a wine bar, so no full bar options, just wine and beer.

michael l.

Yelp
Amazing little wine bar in the CBD. The staff is incredible and super knowledgeable about the wines. They also have a great food menu and the kitchen stays open late. Definitely a plus in New Orleans where it's impossible to get good food after 10. Get the quail or the frog legs. Yum! I hear it's the chef from the former Mimis. If so, he's gotten even better. Plus they play Biz Markie on the stereo and have a nice sofa. I'll definitely b
google avatar

Jeanne D.

Yelp
The wine list is AMAZING! Perfectly curated. Price points for everyone. Friendly and helpful staff. Bites are excellent as well. Can't wait to come back!

Courtney C.

Yelp
Cutest little place tucked away on Girod st. Only noticed it on my walk home one day from work. Sat at the bar (solo)... ordered a glass of Chardonnay, the goat cheese beignets and the lamb! All were great! Lamb was especially amazing... so full of flavor and made me surprisingly full. Only took off one star for the beignets... I love cheese and the concept of cheese beignets but though they were a bit too dense and a little cold in the middle... other wise delicious!!
google avatar

Sheryl A.

Yelp
What a lovely treat to find this place! My friend and I wondered in after a parade and were truly delighted. We're not from NOLA so in our heads, all that we would find post parade would be a loud, drunken bar. Luckily we wandered up the right way and found Pluck. The menu of small plate options was perfect. And great wine by the glass options to accompany our choices. The short ribs and chocolate mouse deserve special mention --- both really wonderful. We had great service as well! The atmosphere was playful yet tame - we really loved it and hope to be back.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
The service here was really wonderful--very attentive and friendly. The wine selected for us based on what we said we were looking for was spot on. And the food (charcuterie plate, mussels, goat cheese croquettes, and olives) was excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
Unique neighborhood spot away from the tourists with terrific food (try the crispy Brussels sprouts and goat cheese and honey croquettes), interesting wine selection and fantastic service. A group of work colleagues had a fun memorable evening here. Highly recommend!
