"If it’s rowdiness you seek, this is the destination. Make your way to this Fort Worth pub for a pint or a shot and a brilliant time. It’s got pool tables, live music, and loads of screens to catch some footie on. It is a dive bar, so if you want food, hit up the Velvet Taco next door." - Courtney E. Smith, Alaena Hostetter

Google
Great bar with a good vibe and right next to a velvet taco. Bartender knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the fort worth area. Loved the white Russian and they shared my creative attitude to make whatever I wanted.

Google
Didn’t have too many ppl, which I love. Bartenders were professional. Whiskey selection was pretty good. And best of all they didn’t turn off my music when I played metal! That’s the sign of a good bar right there!

Larry

Google
They show favorite to regulars allow them tho do cocaine in the restrooms fight each other and pick who can and cant come back to the bar by favorite also over serve in pours I feel this bar is full of drugs they smoke weed on patio

Google
Nice bar. Had a good time with my daughter and her friends..

Google
My first time here. Was a nice vibe with great service . Desiree was such a great bartender, very attentive in a busy place. I will be back when I visit Ft Worth!!

Claudia

Google
Did a promo here, love how the bar was big and spacious. Great music and vibes! Can’t wait to come back on my days off!

Candice A Young

Google
Bar atmosphere. Great bartenders. Go check it out

Alex Purviance

Google
Chill bar compared to the club vibe across 7th. Older crowd vs college age crowd which I prefer. They have security and door guys on the busy nights as well as a damn good hot dog vendor. All the staff are great at what they do and they do it with kindness! Love this place. Would give it more stars if I could.

Natasha K.

Yelp
A haiku review for you: Smells like piss always Not enough pool tables here Extremely sticky

Tyler L.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a hot minute. I love bringing friends to Poags to hangout or go after I'm done with work. The staff is great and do a good job with their service. I know they have to put up with some folks but they do a great job!

Alex P.

Yelp
Was there last night and Henry was sloppy drunk and couldn't even afford to tip his bartender. Then continues to embarrass himself and spit at a woman. Poags is a legit pub. I'm there often and am never treated with ANYTHING but respect and kindness. The funny thing about respect is you gotta give it to get it. Don't take the opinion of some drunk broke loser. POAGS IS LEGIT!

Matt T.

Yelp
Was in last night... saw the jerk that's complaining in the comments below. He was unnecessarily rude and hard to deal with but the bartender held her own. I love this place . Been coming for years. These girls put up with a lot and don't deserve the disrespect.

Kody N.

Yelp
Me and my friends used to come here every Thursday until they kicked us out for being "too loud". We thought they were joking at the time because there was probably 30 people total in the bar and our party accounted for 12 of them. Not only that but the bartender called my buddy over and asked why he didn't tip more after they kicked us out. There are plenty of bars in area...my recommendation is to spend your money elsewhere!

Jeremy W.

Yelp
Good little local bar. Stopped in, service was fast despite the fairly crowded Thursday. Will definitely be back

J.M. R.

Yelp
I've been coming to Poag's for years. Like a decade and a half. If anyone asked me what my favorite bar was, this was the one. Recently, it seems to have taken a turn. A few of the bartenders are nice. But my review here references one bartender in particular--blonde, tats. My experience here would be different if not for her. While I understand that the role of a bartender dealing with drunks is a tough one, everyone else behind the bar seems to have the ability to be courteous and congenial. I get it. Sometimes you have to be tough with an ornery patron. However, this bartender is often crass and rude for no reason. If she doesn't like what you paid to play in the jukebox, she'll skip it. Might even scold you over your choices. Generally, she sets an overall vibe that isn't inviting. Sometimes I wanna go where everybody knows my name. It used to be this place, but I'm done.

John K.

Yelp
Cool vibe here at this Irish pub close to the West 7th region. The playlist is always playing something fantastic! And the beverages are reasonably priced. The vibe is what you'd hope for a laid-back Irish pub. And the atmosphere is complimented by a friendly crowd. Talked to a number of strangers when ventured down there. Give them a peak next time you're in west 7th. Ideally, it's a great spot to close out your night after going somewhere louder.

Chance V.

Yelp
Went here to start my bachelor party weekend bartender about an hour in would not serve one of my groomsman because she said we were not taking care of her.... My logic was, we haven't checked out yet . If I was the owner their I would not tolerate someone making me lose out on money. Wouldn't recommend this place.

Peter G.

Yelp
Always feel welcome when your visit Poag Mahone's! Whether you are thirsty for a very fresh tasting Guinness or sip on a whisky while watching a game, P.M. is like your neighborhood bar where you are among friends. Pool and darts, aas well as, many large TVs.

Makayla M.

Yelp
We went here for a party and had reserved the back patio. There was people coming and sitting out there that wasn't apart of our party. We didn't exactly mind the people, however we did have to pay to reserve the area and we felt it wasn't right that we had to pay when there was no structure to keep people that wasn't apart of our party out. Drinks were always way over priced.

Angel T.

Yelp
Worse service ever for New Year's Eve. Bartender (a woman) was drunk, I handed her a $100 bill in her hand and somewhere between me handing it to her and the register SHE lost it or misplaced it, mind you, she was drunk. She had no business bar tending. After she sorted her issue out, she gave me my drinks I ordered and demanded a tip. On a open tab? Was she serious? She wanted me to tip her every time I got drinks. The reason for an open tab is so I can give you a big tip at the end. She said " you can leave and don't come back." I didn't even finish my drink and walked next door to the mad hatter and had the time of my life. Bartender there got a $100 tip thanks to her and her rudeness. Never Visiting poags ever again. A lot of bars to choose from on 7th with great service for her to act like that. Sober up sweet cakes and leave your personal issues at h

Amy D.

Yelp
It is a smoke bar, so if you don't like smoke, I don't recommend coming here. Have fun with friends by playing pool and darts. Large atmosphere that is very chill. Tends to be an older crowd.

Marianne C.

Yelp
Typical bar with younger patron who live around W.7th. Kudos to the management for it letting the patrons smoke inside. Great selections of beers and comparable prices.

Aaron S.

Yelp
I enjoyed visiting this place in the W. 7th St. area of Fort Worth. I think it has a great beer selection and the bartenders are quite friendly. I favorite part is all the games they have including pool darts Golden tee as well as my favorite, big buck hunter. Overall this far is fantastic however I give it four stars instead of five because they allow smoking in here which is a major detractor in my viewpoint. Overall I find this bar very satisfying and I will return due to their wide selection of video games

Sam V.

Yelp
It's a decent dive bar with plenty of bar games (darts, billiards, couple of video arcade games). The mixed drinks are decently poured. There's a small patio out back with a food truck apparently. It was pretty dead this past Saturday. Someone's dog was walking around too...?? The smoke level can get unreal here. My eyes were watering by the end of the night. At one point, it smelled like burnt diapers in there. Seriously. Is this this only place with pool tables around here? If it is, that's the only way I'd come back

Joy C.

Yelp
Get your tacos at taco heads outside and then bring them inside to eat and drink some beers! Poag mahone's gets very lively! They have a great selection of beers and lots of games - golf, darts, and my favorite - big buck hunter!!! I never plan to come here, but somehow always end up here with some beers and tacos! Can't complain about that!

Caleb C.

Yelp
Great Pub atmosphere. A year ago I would have put this at five stars. First I am a non-smoker, which will make this review a little surprising. When they were able to allow smoking inside the atmosphere and crowd was much more laid back and chill. The kind of place that you could pick up a dart game with the majority of people just hanging out enjoying their drinks. This was the go to spot when the question in the group "where should we go" remained unanswered for more than ten min. The few times I have been back since they had to move the smoking out of the pub, showed a drastic change in the atmosphere and clientele. The staff is still great, professional, and responsive. They still have pool tables and dart boards and the taco stand out back. Go in, get a drink, and have a great time. Maybe it will be your go to spot.

Una B.

Yelp
After finishing up a college football game at another bar, we headed over here to round out our night. It was still fairly early so there was no issue with crowds and we had the dart boards at our disposal. Don't play darts? They also had golden tee and 2 pool tables. Not to mention quite a few tables and chairs if just standing up starts getting hard for you. Bar tender was fast and good natured, and beer was 2.50 domestic bottles. This was on a Saturday night, so I suppose that's the normal going rate. Solid little bar.

David I.

Yelp
This area is very quickly becoming one of my favorite spots. In walking distance you have Pour House, 7th Haven, and Poag Mahone's. And rumor has it that The Shamrock is coming back soon. On to Poag Mahone's. This is your typical college type bar, but with an old school kick. Deep woody colors and an old Irish pub feel make this a great place to just sit and chill, play Golden Tee, or head over to the pool tables or dart boards to show your skills. (btw, if you like playing darts you might want to bring your own if you have them, theirs suck) They have a jukebox that is usually playing good music, but I didn't get the chance to check out what all is on it. They have several beers on tap that are out of the "norm" like Fireman4 and Smithwick and a ton in bottles. Oh, and they actually sell PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) in a can for about $1.50. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgable. Several have been there since before they moved to the new location. You can find many friendly regulars sitting at the bar chatting with the bartenders or talking to anyone around. While this bar does lend itself to TCU students, we didn't feel out of place at all while we were there. If you do, just move over to the bar or pop next door to 7th Haven or across the street to Pour House.

Yelp
Random fact - I learned poag mahone means kiss my arse in Irish! Nay for having such a small lot! Nay for being towed if parked in Montgomery Plaza! Nay for the crowd that fills up this bar! Nay for being smokey! Yay for whiskey! Yay for tacos in almost every direction of the bar! Yay for atmosphere! Love the patio during good weather!

Elaine M.

Yelp
Uuhhhh ya, just because you call a place 'Irish' doesn't make it Irish. It's a typical American bar to me. As an Irish person living in America who is always looking for good Irish bars, I went there but i don't get the Irish connection except the name. There's nothing wrong, it's just not really Irish. If you have ever been in a real Irish bar, you know what I mean. They have a deck....that's nice.

Nicole C.

Yelp
I was introduced to this little pub back in February and have found myself there a few times since then. I love the causal atmosphere, the people are generally very laid back, they have a great door man, and a good beer selection. They have pool and darts if you're in the mood for more than a seat at the bar, and I believe a Buck Hunter game also. There is a taco stand outside on the patio that smells amazing and the bartenders are great. Womens bathroom is always clean and there are Lyft codes on the back of the door in case you need a ride home. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that even with the doors open, the smoke in here can be overwhelming. They allow smoking inside, so no matter how long you stay, you smell like a 50 year old chain smoker who just had 2-3 packs in their car with the windows rolled up. I still enjoy it here, I just make sure it's my last (or only) stop for the night. :)

Zac U.

Yelp
Lots of douchebags 'park it' at this spot. The drinks are plentiful, and the space is spread-out. A typical Pub with booze enough to float back into the Prohibition days on the Boardwalk. There are a multitude of places nearby that are much better, honestly.

Joseph G.

Yelp
This place is always solid in my book. I mean it's average, but in a good way. When friends can't decide where we should drink, I always say poags. Bottom line it's got reasonable prices, great service, good vibes and banging tacos in the back.

Roy G.

Yelp
Cool tunes and brews, bartenders are hip. This is definitely a spot to check out. Huge back patio and they have a great taco truck right on the patio. Pool tables and darts what more can you ask for.

S. R.

Yelp
First visit was on St. Patty's Day. We wanted more of a genuine pub feel and decided to check it out. It was busy and smoky, but we expected it to be. We didn't get to try any food items as they weren't serving food that day, but fortunately they had a food truck out back. Even though it was busy, it was great service! We saw a group of older gentlemen get into some sort of scuffle or confrontation with a younger group of gentlemen, but staff very quickly addressed the issue and cleared the area. We were impressed with their efficiency. It was a lively atmosphere and much of what I saw I would expect to see in a pub on St. Patty's Day. We will return on a less busy night - if there is one. I almost forgot, we loved the music - rock/classic rock made us metal heads feel at home.

Casey G.

Yelp
Nice little dive pub off 7th. Reminds me of the good o'l days when 7th was more dive than hip. Drinks are cheap tunes are good. The craft beer selection is great a lot of local brew on tap. We came on a Sunday so it wasn't as packed.

Cortney C.

Yelp
Use to be a cool place. Just customer warning. Make sure you check your bank/ cc account. Went in last Friday after work for 1 beer. Ordered, closed out and tipped $2.00. Checked my account this morning.... that $2.00 tip turned to $7.00 tip. Apparently the young blonde ( apparently drunk at work ) bartender thought she was slick. Mind you, I was on my first and only beer so it wasn't like I don't remember what transpired vividly. But I'm not going to blame the establishment. I did call today and talked to the manager. She was very helpful. Apparently she couldn't find my credit card receipt ( surprise, surprise ) and offered to buy me a few beers. I thanked her and respectfully declined. I will not be back in that place. I'm not giving the bar 1 star, I'm giving the bartender that is stealing from the customers. I am 100% it's not her first time. So please if you're a patron at the place, watch out. If you are a employee, manager or owner reading this...... you have a thief in your establishment which will hurt your brands name.

Andrew P.

Yelp
Quick service, great beer selection, darts, pool tables, multiple golden tee games, big buck hunter, Smithwicks, Guiness... Irish Love in America :) huge bar, tons of tables / seating... Great time!!! I will definitely come back... Thanks Poag Mahone's Irish Pub :) they also serve 3 choices of the local Grapevine Craft Brewery and home of the Fort Worth Rugby Club (est 1971)

Mandy N.

Yelp
From Detroit we went to this bar for a few drinks. We had so much fun we ended up staying for most of the night. I'm visiting Texas again soon and this bar is definitely on our list of places to go back to!

Amanda A.

Yelp
Last night was my first night at Poag Mahones. I will never be going back after my experience. Unless you like going to establishments who employ verbally abusive people, I do not suggest giving these people your money. On my way out the door, the bouncer mistook me as being too drunk to hear what he was saying. We walked out, said good bye and the bouncer called me a whore. I turned back around, asked him what he said, he called me a whore again. I got closer and asked one more time, his response was to smirk and tell me to have a good night. I had a good time, left at an appropriate hour with my boy friend and did nothing to deserve disrespect. The first most important thing that any bar or restaurant should have is respect for the people who pay their bills. Customer service isn't for everyone and this place obviously has no comprehension of the concept.

Alina L.

Yelp
This place has that "home base" feel. Very casual, everyone is friendly. They have pool, darts, and a few other games to keep you busy when not at the bar. Its not a huge place and can get packed but the specials are great and the bartenders keep up.

Lauren N.

Yelp
It's mostly a college crowd here. Smoking. Little patio out back. There's always food trucks in the vicinity for your drunk food needs. Staff is quick. Bathrooms are kinda gross.

Christopher D.

Yelp
They watered down the tequila I had. Never a good thing. Won't return because of that fact alone.

John B.

Yelp
I can't explain it, but I seem to keep returning to Poag's. I don't smoke, but I don't mind fighting through the smoke there, so be forewarned if that really turns you off. The beers seem to be reasonably priced, and there are enough of the off-the-beaten-path offerings to keep my interest, so I think that's fun. I don't usually like talking to people I don't know at bars, but I always seem to find interesting, fun-loving patrons here (don't get me wrong, I consider myself friendly and social, but I usually feel like I'm bothering people I don't know if I talk to them). Anyway, I find the vibe here to be pretty friendly, which goes a long way with me. I'm sure I'll be back.

Zac M.

Yelp
Great place to go have a beer. Tends to get pretty crowded on weekends, but the bar tenders are proficient and don't leave people standing at the bar for very long. Whenever I'm out I always seem to find myself there before the end of the night.

Punkin P.

Yelp
If you want a dive, this is your place. Cheap, strong drinks is par for the course.

Libbie A.

Yelp
Great friendly staff. Music could use some help, there is only a jukebox and there is way too much downer music on it. I always spend about $10-$15 just on Irish bands. It makes an Irish pub much more fun with Irish music. Drinks could cost less too..

Scot V.

Yelp
Great little dive bar, with a awesome taco place out back "Taco Heads"....... Good pours, with a great staff.

Matt T.

Yelp
Great little bar. Good drink specials too. Decent selection of beer. Darts, billiards and golden tee too.

carrie j.

Yelp
We walked over here thinking it would be a cool pub, but we were SO wrong. The sign on the door dubbed it as the pub of the Fort Worth Rugby Association. We thought it sounded fun. We were the only people there not in Rugby shirts/shorts and the bartender would barely even make eye contact with us. The place smelled like a sweaty old locker room.

Naomi T.

Yelp
Love this bar, can get crowded but the bartenders are always super friendly and fast! Never a long wait for a drink. Bonus: drunk darts! What more can you ask for?!

Terry D.

Yelp
Favorite place on 7th street near all the new developments going on! Great dive bar with good jukebox

Lanny B.

Yelp
I really like this place when it's not busy. The pirces aren't bad, and I like the ambience and pool, darts, etc. It is a madhouse when it gets crowded though. Like a drunk will spill an entire beer on your wife then give an insincere apology and stumble away kind of crowded. I hate this place when it's packed, but it's just fine if there's a reasonable crowd.

J Paul M.

Yelp
Always good service; good selection of beer and the DO have out door seating. I am a regular patron and plan to continue, Paul M.

Shelby D.

Yelp
LOVE this bar and have for years! The staff is friendly, the music (Internet jukebox) is awesome, prices are good and the atmosphere is great. Anybody and everybody are welcome so there are a variety of personalities in here. This is more of a friendly neighborhood pub rather than the stereotypical 7th street bar. Taco Heads has a food truck out back and you can bring them in to enjoy with your drink. LOTS of beer choices (from delicious craft beers to 32oz cans of PBR). Check it out if you're out in a Fort Worth!

Patricia P.

Yelp
Best bar in Fort Worth! Come see Marge for happy hour, or Ricky & Darrell at night. Gets packed on the weekends but service never fails. Hit up Taco Heads outside if you get the munchies.

Dan S.

Yelp
Back in the day, when Deep Ellum and Greenville were my second homes, it was not uncommon for me to see preps in Lacoste shirts at an obscure punk show at Charlie's Liberty Hall. Because back then, it seemed, the real "cool" people, were not the one's with earnings, or tattoos, or wearing the expensive clothes, but the ones who were simply being themselves, WHOEVER that was. Because nothing shows so much as someone trying to be something they're not. And this is why Poag's gets four stars, and the new Abbey Pub (formerly the Shamrock) gets three. The crowd is similar, heavy on frat-types, as is the vibe, but the place, and its people, are all simply being who they are. And this is something that should be appreciated and embraced, because it is far too infrequent in the local bar scene. So go to Poag's and soak it all in. Have a drink and a smoke (and you WILL have a smoke, whether in your hands, or second-hand), be yourself, and enjoy the eclectic mix coming form the jukebox - from Lynard Skynard to Outkast to Beastie Boys. Sláinte!
