"Po’ Boys and Pies, a longtime pop-up, has opened a permanent location in Salem at 101 Lafayette St. Owner Todd Bekesha serves Southern-style sandwiches, including the restaurant’s namesake po’ boys, as well as muffalettas, for which he has the bread shipped in from New Orleans. There are pies on the menu as well, with sweet versions like pumpkin and chocolate pecan and hand pies filled with meats or veggies. The restaurant operates Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday and Saturday." - Dana Hatic

It may have been an off day, but the bread and catfish in our po'boys was dry. I was also surprised by the small amount of mayo on the sandwiches. The Cuban sandwich was excellent. I'd go back and get one before another po'boy. Also - the cucumber salad is akin to an overnight pickle. Excellent by my taste, but may not be for everyone if you don't love pickles like me.

The Po'boys were excellent. The Nashville chicken was nice and spicy, great heat. The portion on the beans and rice was almost a meal in itself, but went well as a side. Definitely someplace to go for great southern food.

Literally OBSESSED with the blueberry cobbler. I had only ever had peach cobbler that I’ve made before trying their blueberry and I’m legit HOOKED. Their derby pie is phenomenal too! Their food is good as well like their po boys and wings. I gotta try the meat pie soon. Their customer service is the true reason I always return. They’re always polite, pleasant and in a good mood.

Ordered the Nashville chicken and the mushroom poboys. Both were messy and amazing. Tried meat pies and broccoli bites from the starters menu, also wonderful. Great service, reasonable prices, killer tape collection.

First time here today! Cute little space, no tables or chairs but some counter space to eat at although we took ours to go. My husband got the Nashville chicken poboy and I got the catfish poboy... SO PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!!! The bread is crispy on the outside and nice and soft inside, the catfish was exceedingly fresh tasting and crispy with local Maitland Mountain farm pickles. The Nashville chicken was soo tasty, with a smoky bbq flavor and the chicken was tender but crispy-crunchy on the outside. We also got the meat pies to try later, which I HIGHLY recommend... these little savory flaky empanada-type pies were like nothing I've ever had before and hit the spot. These are very authentic poboys if you've ever been to New Orleans and I would dare say better than any we've had there before...we will definitely be back!!!

Finally! A place where you can get authentic, blue-collar New Orleans grub. Not a place serving boiled seafood out of plastic bags, not a pretentious chef serving "playful interpretations" of southern food, but the real deal. Fresh shrimp and catfish flown in from the Gulf, fried chicken, roast beef debris, red beans and rice, meat pies, and more. I've been to New Orleans and can confirm that Po'Boys and Pies would be right at home there. (Trust me, this place could give Parkway Bakery a run for its money.) The fried shrimp po'boy is simply the best sandwich I've ever had in Salem, hands-down. Can't wait to try their other options as the menu expands!

I just had the most delectable sandwich of my life. The meatloaf sub, WOW, so moist and tender, the compliments of the onion relish and overall alchemy was ecstasy!

This place is the shiznit. Amazing sandwiches (esp the Moonbaby and Mushroom bites) and pies are so tasty. Can’t wait til they expand their vegan options!
