"Poggio, which is a collaboration between Issac Flores of Sammataro and Playground ATX is open now. According to a press release, it also includes 'special culinary contributions by celebrated chef and author Anthony Falco.' Look for a menu including items like big fried mozzarella, house stracciatella, chicken parm, and Gulf shrimp scampi, all served with a list of natural wines." - Courtney E. Smith

This neighborhood place is intimate. It's what you'd expect in a big city. About 15 tables, limited menu, great food, and casual vibe. The wedge salad is a WOW moment and east to share with two people. The chicken parm was cooked perfectly. I prefer red chilly flakes to spice it up, but this was impressive. Due to the large portion, I had half as left over it and it was just as good. The flat iron steak and fries were delicious. Overall, great food, casual vibes, and realistic pricing. Make a reservation and check it out.

Staff was AMAZING! Food was sooooo DELICIOUS!!!! The handmade/homemade mozzarella was soooooooooo GOOD!!! We did the mozz pull and did not have arms long enough - it's so good! definitely a must get! the Poggio steak and fries were delicious! and the wedge salad with the handcut smoked pork belly on top (and the dressing on the side of the plate so the last bite is not coated with dressing) was amazing......so much that we went back the next night - I was craving the mozzarella and we had the chicken parm because it looked so good and it did NOT disappoint! SO GOOD! The table next to us said "This is better than my grandmas!" and the desserts - AMAZING!! We will definitely be back!

Happened to come on the opening night and had a great time and will be back. Laid back Italian American food with a good wine list. Everything we ate was good and the service was very good. Glad they are in the neighborhood.

Our family of 3 had a wonderful experience at Poggio. Every dish we ordered was delicious and the service was impeccable. The standout dishes were the eggplant parm, broccolini and Tiramisu! They accommodated our 10 month old and are so kid friendly! We will be back!

Holy guacamole! I'm from the East Coast, and this place immediately brings me back to my childhood eating at this little Italian place I grew up with. The settings, tables, and smells are amazing. The food is phenomenal. If they came up with a caramel bread pudding I'd demand they let me invest with my own money. Put down your phone, get here now!

Yelp
What a great new spot on Airport! I loved everything! It's no frills Italian with a limited kitchen/menu. DO get either chicken or eggplant Parmesan. DO get the mozzarella sticks. Those are clearly the staple items on the menu. They're building around doing those things PERFECTLY. You can color with crayons on the table cloth, the environment is relaxed even though the food is elevated. Wine list is great. Natural wines but also those that appeal to a less funky palate. I really enjoyed this beyond expectations since I knew it was a casual atmosphere. The only dish we wouldn't do again was probably the wedge salad. Everything else was superb and simple - the way Italian food should be enjoyed with family and friends.

Yelp
LOVE this concept from Playground ATX--experienced restauranteers establishing year long concepts for emerging chefs to hone their craft. Sue, the proprietor is amazing an amount other accolades helped Lettuce Entertain You open ABA in ATX, is focused on helping concepts move from Food truck to bricks and mortar. This Italian-American concept is a great experience. We had the house made mozzarella and white bean and kale appretizers. Then we added the Wedge Salad, the charred broccoli and the garden butter lettuce salad. Each dish was excellently prepared. Service as friendly and prompt. The space is clean and simple--the focus is on the food. We had a rose and a Barbarra wine by the glass and they were nice. This is a great concept. We will be back!

Yelp
The fresh mozzarella is BEYOND AMAZING!!! You have to do the mozz pull! The parm is better than your grandmas! The Poggio steak was perfectly cooked and fries were great! The wine list blew my mind!! So well curated! And the desserts were the perfect finish! We will be back... probably weekly!

Yelp
The chicken parm was so good! The carrots were also delicious and refreshingly different. Don't get me wrong, I love a salad or side of Brussels sprouts, but it's nice to change it up every once in a while.
