This was our first time back since the new owner (who is also head chef) took over. Let’s just say that our food was wonderful. We loved it all. However, id you’re looking for an overall 5-star experience, this is what we found a bit off:
-server training was lacking. I do understand that staff is hard to find, but both servers in the dining area were clueless about specials, what was in each dish, and didn’t seem too eager to seek out the info they didn’t know
-This location presents itself as somewhat upscale (for this area). Great menu items with a high price tag for example. So when our server comes over with a dirty shirt and a backwards baseball hat, we were taken aback a little. The other server had a fluffy hot pink hat on which seemed out of place and unprofessional. ***I would like to note that both of them were super friendly. I just think maybe a dress code and a little staff training could go a long way to make this place extra special.
-The cardboard menus were dirty. Mine was crumpled and crusty. Just throw it out and use a new one :)
-We sat by the window and there were a lot of dead flies. It’s an old building so that’s inevitable, but we got there right when they opened. Just vacuum a little before you open.
Again, the food was wonderful. The chef came out to talk to us, which was a nice touch. Desserts are home made and delicious. I’m just nitpicking for those who are nitpicky…
