"Thanks to the large Brazilian immigrant population here, Astoria has one of the highest concentrations of Brazilian restaurants in the city. That means an abundance of specialized spots whether they’re suco (juice) bars or grill houses – and friendly rivalries of loyalty among locals. Point Brazil is one of the top “kilo,” or by-the-pound, places in Astoria. The buffet bar has a substantial array of traditional fare – feijoada, oxtail stew, shredded collard greens – that gets churned out fast for solo diners on a lunch break, parents feeding their kids, and the gym bros stacking up on protein. Do not miss out on the barbecue corner next to the cashier counter. The juicy, salt-encrusted short ribs are extraordinary." - Caroline Shin, Paul Schrodt, Melissa Kravitz Hoeffner

"Show up to this Astoria Brazilian spot on a random day and there’s a 96.7% chance that you’ll leave feeling like the feijoada and linguica could’ve been saltier, or you should’ve opted for extra picanha instead of the beef rib. But come on the first Saturday of the month and you’ll leave feeling like you know exactly where you’ll be 30 days from now. You’ll be back at Point Brazil for their next “Taste of Bahia” monthly special, when the two sister-owners cook a bunch of dishes from their native Bahia in northeastern Brazil. That includes fantastic, filling acarajé - a deep-fried black-eyed pea fritter stuffed with shrimp, bacalao, and vatapá (a rich, creamy, seafood-y paste) - for $6, and a sampler plate with vatapá, moqueca, and okra gumbo." - Matt Tervooren

Finally got the opportunity to come to this place and I'm salty I didn't come here sooner. It's been a minute since I've had some Brazilian food so I came here for lunch. I'm not even gonna complain about pricing in certain restaurants because it pretty much normal now. I settled on some roast beef, seafood fried rice and some veggies for the pallette. The food was heavenly, especially that cut of beef, it should be a sin for it to taste that good. The seafood fried rice was also enjoyable as well. Probably could've went with some plantains food but by how much my plate was already, I decided to forgo it for next time. The food wasn't the only good thing here, quite a good number of divine ladies on this hot Summer day was a treat for the eyes as well. Very much captured the Brazilian essence of the joint. LOL Anyway, next time I come here, I'll give their fish fillet a try. The breading looked superb on that.

Google
As a big fan of Brazilian food I must say that this place is truly a gem, the food tasted just like you were eating in Rio de Janeiro, homemade recipes and family owned restaurant, is definitely one of my favorites now. Their Coxinhas is definitely a must!. Place was clean, organized and staff super friendly and welcoming 10/10

Point Brazil is not only the best Brazilian restaurant in Astoria, it is one of the best restaurants period. Especially for what you’re paying you are really getting a super deal. The second you walk in you’re greeted by the genuine smiles of the amazing servers RAFA and ANA. You can tell that Rafa and Ana love their jobs and love serving up the amazing cuisine of their beautiful country. Ana’s genuine smile is the definition of hospitality! The food is beautifully presented with every detail cared for, and the entire place is kept sparkling clean and the gorgeous decor on the walls takes you on a trip to Brazil🇧🇷. The rice is perfectly fluffy, the pao de queijo is just like what you’d have on a chilly morning in Minas Gerais 🔺, the croquette is perfectly crunchy on the inside but soft and pillowy on the inside, the vinaigrette salsa is extremely fresh with the perfect kick of acidity. Practically all of the desserts will have you going for seconds. I could go on and on and write essays about Point Brazil but you get the point: if you’re reading you simply must go. If you’re really ready to feast then go for their all you can eat buffet option. Only $39.99 for that level of quality is really a no-brainer and a deal that is practically impossible to find in NYC these days. I would give 7 stars if I could.

Google
I had a terrible experience. I’ll never make my own plate again, and I ordered a natural juice that was basically just water. I ate normally, and it was my only meal of the day. Hours later, I started feeling sick, vomited several times, and had a horrible stomachache. I probably ate something from the restaurant that wasn’t fresh and was spoiled. Aside from that, the service was just okay.

Google
Happend to be really hungry and passing by and decided to go. Despite the fact that we ate way past lunchtime, food was good. Great Brazilian flavors. Def will consider coming back and will recommend it. Optimo! Unfortunately I did not have time for pictures. #nexttime

This is one of my absolutely favorite places to eat in Astoria! So grateful my dear friend referred me to Point Brazil. Quality meal - home cooked, nutritious, simple ingredients with lots of flavor! Sabroso

Yelp
Always yummy food from this spot. Their Coxinha is my favorite! Always flavorful and full of chicken. The empanadas are great as well, never skimpy and fried well.

Yelp
Great food, once a month they have acarajé there. Amazing service. It's a go. It's a delightful food very well made.

Christos A.

Yelp
Been a patron of this place for years. A decent Brazilian style rotisserie type place on a budget. Great location, but parking is tough. $8.99 per pound of food is always a great parameter for grilled meats. Delicious food, but sides could definitely be improved.

anindita s.

Yelp
Food is great. Portions are smaller than before, but we still love the place because you still get a lot of food for a reasonable price.

Floating H.

Yelp
Just came for the acarajé, since they only make it for 6 hours on the first Saturday of each month. It was good enough. But I'm so accustomed to the way it is prepared and served in Bahia. This is acceptable though.

Checkmeout176 ..

Yelp
Best desicion ever !!!! I tried the a bit of almost everything on the buffet, churrasco, stew beef, chicken rice, beans. Wow food was delicious here.

Youngsun B.

Yelp
I ordered food from here for the first time and had really weird/unpleasant experience. I went in and I saw there was only one order ready to be picked up. So I gave my name to Spanish girl at the restaurant. Then she asked to show her "MY ID" I felt weird but I did to just get my food and leave. But after I left restaurant, I felt it was obviously unnecessary and aggressive process to ask customer to pick up "food" I had never this kinda experiences before, so almost felt like it was racism

Brianne H.

Yelp
I used to live across the street from this place and used to frequent it a few times a week. The food is fantastic. We moved to LI in 2018 and this place is one of the few things I miss about the city. I have yet to find a place even comparable on the island. The food is seasoned perfectly and the meat is so flavorful.

Jolly C.

Yelp
Food was okay. I got some cuts of the steak and ribs but they were tough and pretty dry. It was either raw or well done. Nothing in between. The buffet bar was good I love the plantains and the beef stew.

ElleDee S.

Yelp
They should have someone at the front taking temp. We took our own temperatures. There are also gloves to use when serving yourself, which makes perfect sense. However, many people weren't using them and no one said anything. The buffet/salad bar is smaller than I expected. We were mainly there for the BBQ meat that is behind the counter, so it didn't matter too much. I had paella, cheese bread, maduro, pork sausage, 2 types of sirloin and bacon wrapped chicken. The meat is delicious! The cheese bread is so good but not enough were ready. The sauces available on the side of the counter are a great condiment. We enjoyed the garlic one and the chili oil. Lastly, they allow people to sit too close to each other. We had people eating right next to us, no plexi glass in that spot. The staff is very nice! We will be back but we may take our food to go.

Albert K.

Yelp
Wish i had a place like this near me.. Cheap healthy Brazilian food, BUFFET Salads, proteins, salmon steak rice, they have everything for a decent price/lb Their brazilian specialties are my fav, like the Feijoada!! AMAZING (Feijoada - brazil's national dish, pork black bean stew) Tres leches is bad, flan is decent Definitely stop by Point Brazil if you want a quick, healthy affordable meal!

Tom D.

Yelp
A friend wanted to try this Brazilian spot for their lunch special, priced by the pound. The guy carving the meat that day was super friendly and helpful, unfortunately I can't remember his name except that has was kind of tall, great service though. The food and selection was fine, nothing special. I guess if you have a hard craving for Brazilian then check it out, otherwise maybe not.

Carlos O.

Yelp
This message is for the owner. I know this place for a long time, it was always my place to go, but after today not anymore. The kid on the barbecue grill barely knows how to hold the knife - even a child could cut better. He even couldn't' understand my friend's question. I ordered a medium well and he gave me an almost raw meat.

Michele A.

Yelp
Yummy food! We have been ordering food during the pandemic and we have been happy with the food quality from this place. Despite the Brazilian dishes, this place offers healthy side options which is a big plus for people who are on a diet and still want to eat tasty food. Pastel de carne (beef empanada) is so good! We also like to order the Salmon with lemon and the Combination steak

Hadessa M.

Yelp
This is a nice place to go for a many times with family and friends. We are going almost every night for dinner because Is cheap, good food, delicious, varied menu. The indoor decor of the restaurant is very nice and decor with Brazil stuffs. There were so many different selections of meat like skirt steak, sirloin, chicken, ribs, all of them delicious. The service was excellent very attentive and nice environment. It's not to loud and you can enjoy your food as you're in you home. The "salad" bar was great too it's not just a salad bar. They have lots of wide variety of things too as different cuts of cold cut Italian meats, cheeses, potato salad, greens, salmon, etc. Highly recommend for everybody. I suggest some TV to watch game or news, but its fine.

Reggie M.

Yelp
Point Brazil in Astoria offers great Brazilian fare by the pound. They serve hot and cold buffet from breakfast to dinner. The favorites are bacalao with potatoes, olives and peppers, Feijoada and Tropeiro beans. They also offer various grilled meat on a skewer (Churrascaria) such as fraldinha, picanha, sausages and pastries with fresh vegetables salad bar. If you are overwhelmed by the extravagance of a buffet set up, the à la carte menu is available by request. This place is pristine and spacious. The tables are set for the customers to enjoy the outside view. There's very little interaction with the staff here since you get to grab your own plate, serve yourself and the lovely lady on the counter will weigh it for you. I am a regular at this place as my check-ins can testify.

Genesis E.

Yelp
I love this place the food is fresh is confortable serving just I want to eat , i am pescatarian every time I found food for me, the cake is delicious

Pierina Z.

Yelp
This is a good place for Brazilian food, price and quality are very well balanced. It's a self service place. I got the Feijoada, cuscus, mash potato and maduros. I also got guaraná drink!! It's delicious. I really enjoyed here, the food was great and service was super attentive. I'm going back to Point Brazil because it's a small piece of a Brazilian paradise in Astoria.

Farah R.

Yelp
I have no complaints about this. It's a little spot in Astoria, Queens. I only went here twice and both during lunch. I think it's perfect for lunch. Plus the big glass windows give out lots of outside light which I like. You basically go in and take your own food on the plate from buffet. It's a small buffet consisting of different types of salads, fish, meat, rice and beans You can eat just from the buffet or get fresh steak of ur choice from the guy behind the counter. I usually get the potato salad, some greens, maybe some fish then walk over to the counter and usually get some fresh skirt steak. I've also tried the ribeye and the beef ribs both very good! Brazilians know their meat! Love this spot try it out

Paul S.

Yelp
My son found this place on Yelp while we were looking at colleges in the NYC area. it is good for a buffet, but not quite as great as we had hoped it would be, so i just gave it 3 vs. 4 stars. Items that were below my expectation are explained below. I would still recommend it, though, for the following reasons. 1. The folks who work here are friendly, sincere and just great. 2. It's fast. 3. The Brazilian BBQ beef (Picanha) and the sausage (linguica) were both very good. stick to these as the centerpiece of your meal. 4. Fresh veggies in the buffet. 5. Economical. I would avoid most of the "cooked and sitting there" stuff in the buffet. My son tried some of the roast-like meat that was there along with some of the other stuff and it was dry and buffet-like. Granted, we were there after 8pm and perhaps this is not the prime time to hit the buffet as turnover seemed to be low. Nonetheless, the gap between the meats that were fresh off the Churrasco (sp?) grill were the bargain here. Since your meal is charged by the pound ($6.99/lb. at this writing), you really want to optimize for the "good things" which are the aforementioned meat and fresh veggies. Of course, it's a bargain at this price so you could just tank up and leave the undesirables, but why? Another thing to avoid are the fresh juice drinks in the tanks near the counter. We found them watery and not very flavorful. Once again, perhaps it's one of those end-of-day issues, or perhaps we just don't get it when it comes to authentic Brazilian fruit drinks, but for my money, I'll take a water or soda next time. I have posted a photo of our plates captioned "Paul S dinner at PB". The restaurant is small, and decorated with items memorializing the homeland. I imagine if you came here while it was busy, you'd have trouble sitting inside. Overall, fast, cheap, friendly and reasonably good food if you pick the right things. Come here, but follow the narrow path to the BBQ.

Renato M.

Yelp
I went back to Point Brazil and although the overall food is ok their Picanha is still really bad. It's an offense call that piece of rubber Picanha! Someone from Point Brazil should visit their competitors Copacabana or Rio Grande and see what a good picanha tastes like! (and no, Rio Grande and Copacabana are far from being perfect but they know how to cook a picanha!)

Owen C.

Yelp
The food are amazing and affordable, everytime i come here feels like i want more, and the meat grill i cant describe it. Overall its great easy food and easy place. Very recommend!!

Kelly -.

Yelp
I ordered a catering for Christmas and i can thank them enough! First of all so much food, quality, so tasty all my guests ate and it was a success! Fair price and all impeccable! Definitely ill order again!

Rad G.

Yelp
I never wanted to walk into this place before because I am not a fan of buffet style serving. My daughter turned me on to it and ever since I just love their food. The quality and price are both amazing.

Bruna J.

Yelp
Great food and great staff Always a fresh food and a fair price Close to my current work and I go everyday to breakfast and lunch

Billy V.

Yelp
Point Brazil good and tasty. Reasonable. Options. Great service. Clean. What more can I say about Point Brazil. Everything that I like about a restaurant was said in seven key words: GOOD, TASTY, REASONABLE, OPTIONS, GREAT SERVICE and CLEAN. Point Brazil is one of the 3 or 4 "Eat By The Pound" restaurants in Astoria. You know the deal: pile the plate with food and pay at the counter. Easy. Now, what set these guys apart from the others are the small things about the experience. Friendly smile. Helpful in assisting customers. Food in smaller plates, pans, etc. to keep temp; (hot food hot and cold food cold), presentation of food (looks good), options (while you have the standards, different options day to day). I GET THE IMPRESSION THEY WANT THEIR GUESTS TO HAVE A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. Say whatttttttttt..... In all my visits I feel welcome, special and appreciated. I feel they want me to stay and enjoy, oh yes, and come back. Meats are always tasty. My favorite sirloin. Always good and tender. I usually tell the guy give me the whole piece. Why waste time. It is rare, tasty and delicious. Hot and cold food selections to many to list, but if you are a veggie person (plenty of options). They have the standards: salad (4 or 5 items), rice, beans, stews, etc., etc., etc. You can not leave hungry here. There is something for everyone. Point Brazil does a very good job. I know there will be some that will say that they are not as good as "Villa" or the other one on Broadway. To each their own, but I can say that you will find the quality to be better and doing the small things like busing your table while you enjoy your dessert. These guys have good food with great service. Always busing and cleaning. I mean everyone in this place is making sure you feel WELCOME, SPECIAL and APPRECIATED. I will miss you Point Brazil in NJ. Till I visit again:)

Ruzi K.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite place for lunch/dinner, but lately this place has such a terrible odor that I can't stay in and enjoy the food! Also, the food is super salty sometimes that's barely eatable. I feel terrible to post this review because I love people that work there, they are super nice but this review is really message to the owners, if they care at all. Disappointed

Andrew J.

Yelp
Stopped for some no frills dinner with some guy friends. The interior isn't much to look at but the food is good and the price as well. They have grilled meats on a spit behind the counter and you ask for whatever cuts of meat you like. I had bacon covered sausages, sirloin, roast beef and skirt. The skirt was a little dry but still delicious and sausages and sirloin was good. The roast beef was actually my favorite. It was cooking on the spit so I asked for a slightly rare cut and it was beefy delciousness. The hot food bar is great. I don't know the names of the foods available but there was this vegetable stew thing that you could ladle on to rice which was amazing. The cold food bar was also great. The collard green salad wasn't seasoned as other Brazilian places I've been to but it was still delicious and made me feel slightly better about myself with all the meat I was eating. You pay everything by weight and a good plate came out to around 7 or 8 bucks.

Aslihan D.

Yelp
I ordered BBQ meat. It is $7.99 lb. I paid 12.61 for this delicious meal. I got every meat they have except pork. The place is clean.

Chris L.

Yelp
The meat here were so burnt, overcooked and dry- pretty bad. The hot buffet foods were fine. Def won't be back since there are other tastier brazilian spots in the area.

Ryan M.

Yelp
The food here is amazing and I am pleased to see the precautions they are taking during these times. The tables are social distanced and separated by dividers and they provide gloves to be used when touching shared utensils. If you are a fan of steak, be sure to ask the cashier about the steaks behind the counter. They pull it from a fire stove and slice it to order. Soooo freaking good!!

Hayong L.

Yelp
Absolutely one of my go to's when I just want a speedy and delicious lunch. Point Brazil holds one of the best Brazilian BBQ places in Astoria. Food is always fresh and service is super nice. It is buffet style and have a lot of selection of veggies, hot entrees, and BBQ meat alike. Some of their best dishes are the fish and the BBQ meat. They have a nice variety of vegetarian options which is also pretty nice, ranging from quinoa, kale, and beans. Be aware of the pasta dishes though. They look pretty delicious but most of the time it's not seasoned properly and is overcooked. If you're looking for a quick bite, the coxinhas (deep fried chicken ball) are super good. Sometimes they have the cheese option which they stick a cube of cream cheese in there and it is absolutely delicious. If you're craving some dessert, the passion fruit mousse is the way to go. One of the popular Brazilian desserts out there and they know how to do it right. As the Brazilians say... Chao! :)

Lynn M.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this place!!!! My friends and I needed some lunch and didn't want to go far so we just popped in here, not expecting much. I have had bad experiences with NYC buffet restaurants. They usually have very un-fresh food and it's just nasty. But this place is something different, y'all! Everything is super freshly cooked and so tasty. I almost cried while eating the fried plantains. They have delicious meat, numerous vegetarian options, including a chopped kale salad that was LIT. They have everything and you can try a little of everything, which is something I love to do. Fish, beef, liver, chicken, rice, beans, salad, veggies, more, more and more!!!! PLUS, they have lots of dessert. I honestly haven't tried it but they all look incredible. I am very much looking forward to trying all of them at once. They do not serve alcohol, which is a bummer. But this place is worth it!!!! There is something for everyone!!!

Jasmin O.

Yelp
This place was cool to eat at. You pay by the pound which I don't like when it comes to Brazilian food. I like the all you can eat but I guess if you want something quick then this place would be good to check out. I odds of me coming back are slim but the food was tasty. It's also extremely cold in there which I hate.

Jarod Y.

Yelp
Excellent Brazilian meal for $6.99/pound at lunch. The ingredients were fresh & not heavily seasoned. I tried the picanha & really loved it. It was burst in your mouth juicy & flavorful. I loved how tender it was & how it wasn't overly salted. Grilled to perfection.

Corina S.

Yelp
Yummy food, consistently delicious and fresh, love the salad and the hot bar, with lots of sides to choose from, to accompany the delicious meat of your choice! Do not ask me to name the dishes, I wouldn't know what they are called, all I know is that I see what I like, I put on my plate and happy happy happens! I found Point Brazil on yelp after craving churrasco. No request is too big or small for the people who work there, they are always smiling and very pleasant, being helpful and offering suggestions to the ones that can't decide what to get. All in all, I always make it a point (ha) to go there to appease my cravings and yummy food greediness (did I mention I'm a food snob). Between the food and and people, the pricing which, you can't beat, the food quality and quantity, this is a winner and a keeper for me! Don't believe me, give it a try! P.S Reviewing delicious food places while away from the actual place, brings back yummy memories and makes one hungry

Melissa B.

Yelp
Let me keep this short. I always come here, the food is great, service is on par, and the business is CLEAN!! I usually come here every weekend. Their salmon, pasta, rice, beans, rotisserie chicken, skirt streak, and tres leches are exceptionally good. I am truly salivating just thinking about it. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Queens, I would completely recommend.

KhrystyAna K.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this place and come here as often as I possibly can! Try the ribs !!!! That's my favorite there - very juice and not too salty . It's super yummm

Richard B.

Yelp
For under $10, I got a ton of meat, veggies, fish, and it all tasted fresh and gourmet. Best part of all, I picked it all out! The food was filling, healthy, and tasty. win win win. I would come back here anytime, but these kinds of places are starting to pop up all over Astoria. Competition is growing. I just wish they labeled their meats better. You always have to ask a million questions when picking out the meat you want.

Tyler L.

Yelp
This is a pay per pound Brazilian cafe buffet in Astoria. There is another one called Brasilianville Cafe that is little more south that is very similar. You have a steam table at the side where you scoop up whatever you want (various meats, veggies, rice and beans), and behind the counter there is a guy grilling meats (churrasco). I find Brasilianville to be of higher quality than this place. Here, the steam table stuff varied. Some of things I scooped were only semi-hot and some of the meats I had were hard and dry. I was here in the afternoon as well, so it's not an excuse to say that the food was sitting there all day. I recommend that you go for churrasco instead. They are a better bet, as they are fresher and hot. For a drink, have some guarana juice, a popular Brazilian drink.

Nate R.

Yelp
This place is great. The food is delicious, and the staff is very friendly. The rotisserie beef is so tender and juicy. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Jane S.

Yelp
At first the food was really good. But then we noticed the little pork links they had in the buffet were cold. I knew they were in the danger zone and i had a bad feeling so i only ate one bite. Unfortunately it was enough to give me food poisoning. It was very upsetting especially because the place seemed so set on cleanliness and washing your hands due to the virus going around. Overall, that was my biggest issue

Yan T.

Yelp
Ohhhh, yeah. Give me that Brazilian meat! Another awesome Brazilian slicery in Astoria. They were pretty friendly here, guiding me through the barbecue choices. I particularly appreciated the guy cutting the meats, who pointed me to audience favorites: skirt steak, ribs, sirloin, and chicken breast wrapped in bacon. The salad bar offers some eclectic sides, but you are definitely here for the steaming slice of juicy beef, and don't you forget it.

Cherrelle D.

Yelp
Yes Yes Yes to Point Brazil. So close to my apt. So reasonably priced. Quick & Easy service. And most of all so so so delicious. The food is fresh and offers a colorful variety of fish, chicken, pork, veggies and other homemade goodies. I have tried many things here and it's all very good. My fave so far is the salmon! Excellent! A full tray of food could go for $10 and change but your tummy will be in food heaven. I cannot comment on the authenticity of the food but I do know Brazilian dishes=meaty goodness and Point Brazil has a great selection of meaty goodness. In addition, everything here is damn good so try it when in the neighborhood.

Suanne L.

Yelp
Point Brazil is a pay per pound South American smorgasboard of hot, fresh food. In addition to a hot steam table and cold salad bar, a man serves barbecue/rotisserie in the back left. Point Brazil also carries several types of desserts and house made drinks. The food is good and affordable (I always buy more food than I intend to.) The meats in the back tend to be dry unless you ask for something with a high fat content. The hot steam table is the best value and quality - I had ox tail, grilled fish, and pork chop. (The ox tail was deeeeelish!) They also offer fruit, beets, and a quinoa and barley salad to diversify the cold buffet. Fried plantains and frijoles with rice are always a favorite. Seating here is utilitarian and tight. Nothing romantic. Chances are you might even have to share tables. There are also tables outside if the weather is nice, but scope out the seats before you grab a plate vs a takeout container. Counter service is okay and fairly helpful.

Fabio S.

Yelp
This Place has the best Brazilian food in town ... I love to eat there and the owners are Amazing people ..

Giana M.

Yelp
Just got home to try my takeout and I notice the bread has a really weird taste to it almost as the smell of a moldy house so I decide not to eat it. I go to try the coxinha and its the same exact taste of odor that matched the store it was DISGUSTING. The taste of the food literally absorbed / matched the smell of the store which makes me question everything else I got. Ordered 4 coxinha and won't be eating any of them. Stay away!

Rudy C.

Yelp
Basic little Brazilian comida a kilo but the quality of the food is excellent and the price very reasonable. The have a good selection of meats on the grill. Definitely one i will come back to !
