20 Excellent Lunch Options in Downtown Chicago | Eater Chicago

"With one in seemingly every neighborhood of the city, poke restaurants are in large supply these days. But this California chain might just be the best of the bunch thanks to its depth of unique ingredients, such as scallops, albacore tuna, seaweed, wasabi tobiko, lotus chips, and more. The possible combinations are immeasurable so patrons can prevent lunch from getting stale by enjoying a different poke bowl, salad, or burrito each visit." - Jeffy Mai

This is a new poke shop that just opened up a couple weeks ago. Had the pleasure of having Star making our poke bowls. Service was amazing and brightened our day. Absolutely delicious options and now my new favorite poke spot. Prices are great, plenty of fresh and healthy options! Ramen base was such a different choice for poke but after star recommended I had to try it! What a great combo! Will definitely be coming back for more! 11/10!!

Tried this location because it was close by and I had a few class pass credits to spend. Couldn’t open up my reservation but the owner was more than willing to help me out to find my reservation. Overall, great customer service, and the yuzu salmon poke bowl was pretty good!! Would definitely come here again and make it a go to spot!

We were in the area visiting friends and stopped to try this new poke place. The fish was super fresh, and there were so many options for sauces and toppings, many of which were free! I found this place to be affordable for poke, and everything was fresh and delicious. Best of all, the server was so friendly and brightened my day. Star was an absolute star! I wish I lived in town so I could come back often!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Poke Works, and I can confidently say it's my new go-to spot for incredible poke. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the fantastic atmosphere. The restaurant has a vibrant yet relaxed vibe, with clean lines and a welcoming feel that made for a truly enjoyable dining experience. It's the kind of place where you can comfortably grab a quick lunch or settle in for a more leisurely meal. But let's talk about the food – it was simply outstanding! The star of the show, of course, is the freshness of the ingredients don’t forget the offer delivery service as well!!!

Great new fast casual Poke spot in the heart of Hollywood. Nice, clean space with indoor and patio dining. They also have parking which is a huge plus in Hollywood. Turn into Gordon St on either direction, and the parking entrance is on immediate left. I like that their menu has meat, veggie, and even vegan options. I ordered a large bowl with spicy salmon, tuna, and chicken, and it was tasty. I would definitely go back.

The poke here was super fresh, as well as the veggies. I really liked the sauces they offered and I ended up building a bowl that I’d probably order again. I got the regular size and the portions were pretty big. Customer service was on point and the line moved pretty fast. Looking forward to making this a regular lunch spot!

Google
Great spot for poke! The food tastes really good and the portions are generous for the price. They even gave me a discount, which I appreciate a lot. The lounge and dining area is super spacious , you can swing by anytime to eat, study, or just relax. Definitely recommend!

This place is absolutely amazing! You have to try the cerano sauce👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥 it's out of this world! The variety of protein options is incredible. While most poke shops offer just cooked shrimp, this one has shrimp, lobster, crab, and chicken. It's a game changer!

Yelp
I've been a regular at their Irvine location for years, so I'm excited to finally get the same poke bowl here in LA. This new spot just opened this week and has plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. I love all the toppings and customization options you can add to the bowl. I got build-your-own bowl where you can choose: - base: white rice, brown rice, salad, or +$1 for ramen noodle - proteins: salmon, spicy salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, shrimp, chicken, tofu, lobster surimi. Large is 3 scoops and regular is 2 scoops. - add mix-ins: add your vegetables or fruits, highly suggest getting their mandarin oranges or mango if you choose salmon as your protein. Such a great combo! - sauce: Pokeworks classic, umami shoyu, sweet shoyu, sweet chili gochujang, siracha aioli, Serrano aioli, ponzu fresh, Hawaiian salt and chili. Tbh I wasn't a huge fan of Serrano aioli based on the toppings I got for my bowl. Next visit, I probably would just go with pokework classic, which is a ginger sesame vinaigrette. - add ons: toppings and crunches are available at the end. I recommend seaweed salad and surimi salad! You can even add avocado for $1 more or masago for $0.50 more. Be sure to add some crunch like dried onions! They give your bowl the perfect texture boost.

Yelp
Decided to give Pokeworks a try and I'm glad I stopped by because their selection is great! Had the lobster poke with chili crisp to spice it up and I think this may be my go to spot whenever I'm in Hollywood.

Yelp
I finally found a new poke place to go to. I crave it all the time but it's hard to find a place that does it right. The sauces, the fish quality, the toppings were are all on point. The bowls are very filling and the price is good considering you can get all the toppings you want. Pro tip if you like your bowls with a slight kick get it a little bit of the chili crisps. It adds a whole new layer of flavor!

Yelp
Honestly the best poke I ever had in my life!! Tried new toppings I never had before and was amazing. Customer service was really welcoming and friendly. It may be a far drive for us but will definitely come back here. It was worth it!!

Yelp
Pokeworks had a solid setup with a quick moving line and a lot of toppings to choose from, but the bowl I got didn't hit the mark. I went with the lobster and spicy tuna, and while the flavors were fine, the amount of protein was disappointing. There were maybe three or four tiny cubes of tuna and barely any lobster at all. It felt like I just paid for a bowl of rice topped with some garlic crisps. Not the worst, but definitely not satisfying. Maybe I picked the wrong combo, but for what I got, it didn't feel worth it.

Yelp
Having worked next to a poke place, I've been tired of that concept for some time now. But this place has restored my faith in raw fish done well. With a variety of tunas, salmons and even lobster (!) it was fun choosing my flavors but honestly I loved the options of sides too including avocado, seaweed salad and kale. I had their house dressing which wasn't overly sweet and pretty perfect. They have designer bowls which I'll probably try next time. On a side note, Mama Musubi which is only available at farmers market will eventually be at this location as well - I remember them being pretty delicious so I'm looking forward to that as well.

Yelp
Wonderful new poke restaurant located in the beautiful iconic Emerson College campus here in Hollywood. Soft opening was wonderful. Super fresh fun make it your own concept. Being from Hawaii I give it a Shakas onolicouus! Mahalo Derek

Yelp
I just went to the soft opening and food was pretty good. I got the spicy tuna bowl and my son got the Luxe Lobster. There is also also have a coffee stand and Mama Musubi for Japanese rice ball. Free Wi-Fi and plenty of space. Since this was the first day service was this a little bit slower, but I'm going to give them a pass because I'm sure this will ramp up as they get used to everything.

Yelp
Came tonight before cinespa! So amazing! So fresh Highly highly recommend Serrano Aioli. Absolutely scrumptious would come back for that alone! Owner/manager was the sweetest! Go visit!

Yelp
I use to go at Pokeworks in OC, and it was amazing. I tried the LA locations for the third time and it was a disappointment. It is very dirty the place. The server pickup the rice spoon and I was a slime white thing in the spoon and she didn't ever notice. It was gross. I can't imagine how dirty that water and spoon has been. She put that dirty spoon in the rice pan. And served that to my bowl. And the floor was dirty. I COULDN'T eat that.

Yelp
Very impressed with Pokeworks! Super fresh fish and ingredients. I had the Yuzu Ponzu Salmon bowl. The salmon was really fresh with a slight tangy sweet flavor. Delicious! Definitely coming back to try the other signature bowls.

Yelp
I was at the location sunset blvd in LA, it was a clean environment but the portions were absolutely ridiculous. $20 dollars of salad greens and rice mainly. I got two scoops of protein, I counted 5 pieces of tuna and around 6 of Salmon. Additionally I got half a bite of seaweed salad and 7 edamame beans. I never count food, but this time I couldn't not. I'm not saying fill up the bowl but give it's price worth at least. I have never seen portions this small when it comes to poke. Don't recommend

Yelp
This is definitely been one of the best pokey bowl places I've been to. they have very fresh ingredients and overall the service is great.
