Google
Solid spot for ice cream! I’ve had a hard time finding some good quality ice cream in Dallas and Pokey O’s is definetly in the top 5. We got the cookie dough ice cream with the state fair cookie in a bowl. The cookie was super moist and chunky with m&ms, nuts, chocolate and oatmeal. Their sugar cookie was also soft and chewy. We tried their chocolate and vanilla malts and they were made perfectly! Some places don’t put enough malt powder in but I’ll definetly come back for theirs as there was the perfect amount.

Google
First off the reviews and picture online look amazing! Once walking into the shop it looks run down ice cream looks old , cookies look old, Tupperware containers full of cookies. I should have went with my first instinct to turn around and leave but I really wanted ice cream. We god the cookie bowl the guy taking our order was not very welcoming I asked him what should I get he seemed to have an attitude. There was another gentleman getting off shift that recommended us what to get . Don’t get me wrong the idea is there but the quality is not ! The ice cream does not taste like blue bell and the cookie was old . I’ve tried many ice cream shops in my life and this one by far is the worst . Sad to say please serve fresh products and throw out old ice cream.

Google
☆ZERO STARS!!!!!☆ Customer service was TRASH. 🚮‼️ I'm unsure if the AA guy is the owner or just the server, but he was extremely dry, unwelcoming, and uninterested in engaging with my friend & I. She was trying to have a conversation and asking him how his day was going, and he barely made eye contact. I asked him about the doggy treats, and it was just as if he wanted to hurry us along. Moving fwd to the checkout counter, as I was getting ready to push the tip button, he very quickly removed the option to tip as if he assumed I wasn't going to tip, which I was. It was simply a horrible experience, and I will NEVER be back. Ever! They serve 1-star cookies & Blue Bell ice cream, which you can get from anywhere. There are plenty of ice cream parlors who HOMEMAKE their own ice cream with the "sweetest" customer service. We didn't even feel welcomed to dine inside. We went next door to the Roly Sandwich joint and sat in their outside dining chairs and fed the birds the cookies. Don't even know if I should give my dog their treats!! Never again, chile. 😏✌🏽

Google
Just the cutest ice cream shop ever. They make custom ice cream sandwiches and you can buy a bag of broken pokeys. I would bring everyone I know here. I got a single scoop with a cookie for $5. Unreal pricing. 100/10 I’ll be back every trip up here!!

Google
Stopped by after a run on a hot and humid Tuesday afternoon. I got an ice cream sandwich with Salted Caramel ice cream and two Tuxedo cookies (white and milk chocolate chips). It was fantastic. The staff was friendly too. I definitely recommend and would go back again

Google
Awesome people great ice cream We got stuck in traffic next to these fine people and let’s just say that had ice cream and shared with us

Google
This place is phenomenal! I drive 45 mins just to bring my daughter here. I get the cappuccino chocolate chunk cookie, which by the way is to die for! Their cookie dough ice cream is the shiznit combined with the cappuccino cookie. I wouldn’t be surprised if they started making shakes here one day and blew up even more. Although I wish they sold milk in general to enjoy with the cookies. Just a thought, but I’ll continue to come out here’s very friendly and helpful staff, every single time it’s someone different but always the same chirpy attitude, seems like you guys are building a great work culture.

Google
Really yummy. They had my favorite flavor of bluebell ice cream (red velvet) that i havent been able to find in stores. The cookies were warm and yummy. Employee was kind and fast

Yelp
Their variety of flavours you can choose from is very basic, but their portions, price and the fact they nail the basic flavors they got cannot justify a rating lower than a five- their pros are too strong. Ice cream parlors like this place is nowadays very uneasy to find.

Yelp
Really good ice cream! Their hours are super convenient and the people working there are happy to answer questions and help to the best of their ability. I got a strawberry ice cream sandwich that was scrumptious. The only complaint is that it's kind of messy, but that's par for the course with ice cream sandwiches. The place itself is a little cramped, but service is prompt so it's largely a non-issue. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Got to try this place at an event a few weeks ago and I was super excited because I'm a sucker for cookie ice cream sandwiches! I got the Tuxedo Chocolate cookies with Cookies and Cream ice cream. Huge, huge fan of this combo ~ Tried this on a super hot day and let me just say, it was the perfect treat and really hit the spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Snickerdoodle and Sugar Cookie with Vanilla Ice Cream Pretty great! The cookies were definitely the highlight, especially the snickerdoodle. The whole thing was too much sugar for me though, kind of wish I just got the cookies alone! Definitely overall pretty yummy though! Super nice servers!

Yelp
I never eat all my ice cream, but their cookie and cream was so good I couldn't help myself. I ordered that with a few cookies, and my only issue with my cookies was the chocolate chip cookies had nuts....booo! It's definitely a personal preference, but what can I say. I'd visit again.
google avatar

Yelp
For price, the cookie and ice cream pack was great for us, people wise. Heat up the cookies a little, top with ice cream, 10/10. My only reservation to not give 5 stars is the price per cookie (PPC), I felt it was slightly over priced for the size of cookies--the diameter, the heft, could be better. Aside from the cookie specs, very good!!

Yelp
Ummm, walking into this place likely added 2 lbs to me and walking out was another 5. I absolutely had no healthy reason for coming in. I had never been here and was more curious than anything. First, the gentleman behind the counter was wildly infectious and EXCITED about his store! There was no one in there but me and so I played along! He let me try this and that and told me why I should order this and that and then it happened. I was sold on what he was selling (and craving it)! I came to the conclusion I NEEDED Ice Cream Cookie sandwiches! Had to have them! So I ordered a few chocolate chip cookie sandwiches filled with luscious and devilishly creamy Blue Bell chocolate ice cream. To get them home, he fixed ice filled plastic bags and put the belt exploding sandwiches inside a bag inside the ice filled bag. The craftsmanship worked as the sandwiches made it to the house. The rest of the story was a cookie and ice cream massacre that the Tasmanian Devil would have been in awe! I would have taken pictures for the review, but my gurgling gut was saying "feed me" and it is really hard to eat a decadent ice cream sandwich with a camera phone in the other hand. I'm giggling as I say this, but those sandwiches were REALLY REALLY good! Easy to find, plenty of parking, options for a breakfast/lunch/dinner walking/crawling distance away, SUPER SERVICE, and if you eat too much, there is a CVS near by.

Yelp
If you love cookies, ice cream sandwiches or just a sweet treat here's a good place to try. Friendly staff, nice place for a family or friend meet up.
google avatar

Leslie S.

Yelp
Helpful and friendly employees. The ice cream is bluebell so you know it's good. Not too many places to sit though.

Mythical_ C.

Yelp
They should add Apple Pay and tap because that's all people use these days. But what they do great is the service ....

Macouryea A.

Yelp
Sandwiches and service A1. Came in expecting just to get served and leaving. Instead I was greater by a wonderful staff who held a very good conversation with me.

Brian H.

Yelp
Came in within 10 minutes of closing. The staff was super friendly. A few others came in behind us, and were treated just as well. Smaller shop with a few tables. Ice cream is BlueBell. We both got a double scoop and a cookie each. Decent selection of ice cream flavors, but the shout out goes to the cookies. Waffle cones did not SEEM to be made on site, but they paired excellently with the ice cream. The cookies SEEMED to be made on site but was not inside long enough to investigate. Definitely will be a repeat customer.

Yelp
The cookies were amazing and buttery. No wait and quick to be helped! Had the chocolate chip cookies and cookies n cream sandwich.

Yelp
As I sit and write this review I'm actually making mental plans in my head to go there tonight lol this place is SO GOOD !!! My first experience with Pokey O's was with their food truck located in Arlington. I've visited the Dallas location on multiple occasions and the quality is 10/10 at both. My go to order has been the coffee cookie flavor with chocolate chip ice cream. The thought of eating two large cookies and a fat scoop of ice cream sounds like a whole lot of guilt, but you really won't think twice when eating here lol. Everything is so fresh and all under $4!! The staff also makes coming here an enjoyable experience. Last time I came there was a really nice and funny guy at the counter. He was easy to talk to and you could tell he was having a blast. As another yelper put it, his attitude was "wildly infectious and excited" lol. SO true!! I hope he's there when I come by tonight. Great location (close to SMU/off the freeway), plenty of parking, and a place to sit outside and enjoy.

Yelp
Nice clean environment with lots of flavors to choose from. I got the cookies & cream w/ Oatmeal raisin cookie. Terrible combo, but it was good. Plus you can't go wrong with Blue Bell
google avatar

Maura W.

Yelp
This is such a hidden gem! For less than $4 you can have a delicious customized ice cream sandwich with the cookies and ice cream of your choice. The cookies are made fresh each day! I've had the cappuccino chunk cookies, chocolate chip and the tuxedo. They were all great! Usually they are soft and fresh, occasionally they are a little overcooked which can make the ice cream sandwich more challenging to eat but it's still delicious. I've also taken boxes of cookies to my clients for work, and they thoroughly enjoyed them. It's a nice change of pace from overpriced Tiffs treats, and it feels nice to support a local business.

Sidney H.

Yelp
Delicious! Quick and we will be back! Great value for the price. You can't go wrong with cookies and ice cream!
google avatar

Megan F.

Yelp
Pokey O's bakes a variety of delicious cookies. I recommend the State Fair cookie! I look forward to ordering an ice cream cookie sandwich the next time I go!
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
First of all, the ice cream was so delicious!! I decided to go on a Tuesday in honor of "Taco Tuesday" I tried the ice cream taco and loved it!! This is a small business with seating inside close to Southern Methodist University (SMU). It's in a strip of business right off Central Expwy. I had three flavors in my taco, vanilla..caramel swirl and I forgot the third one (sorry) but I also added peanuts, whip cream with cherries on top! It was so yummy! They had a variety of cookies and ice cream along with drinks. I'm sure you'd find something to cure that sugar craving!
google avatar

Valeria F.

Yelp
The cookies aren't great. You can better cookies at Walmart, but great service! The chocolate chip is average, nothing special. The snickerdoodle was the best one out of the three I tried and I'm not a snickerdoodles fan. It's not overpowering with the cinnamon.
google avatar

Maddy F.

Yelp
Food: 4 Service: 5 Value: 4 Fun place to get some ice cream and enjoy with a cookie outside. I love Blue Bell ice cream so it was easy to like that part. The cookies were also really good, but just didn't taste very fresh. It's also a little difficult to eat, but when it all crumbles and mixes together it's pretty great! I would definitely recommend for a fun little dessert, but nothing out of this world. Also not too much seating, but a college atmosphere which makes it a nice hangout spot as well.
google avatar

Akisha E.

Yelp
It's cookies and ice cream. Can't really speak much about it. I had the snickerdoodle with pistachio almond ice cream. The cookie was good. The ice cream was good. I think $3.78 is pretty reasonable. Side note: I was visiting from California and was a bit disappointed that they no longer carry Blue Bell ice cream. They said they didn't want to take a chance with offering the ice cream after the recall. I totally understand being a small mom and pop shop.
google avatar

Yelp
Cannot believed I've lived in Dallas 6 years and have only just now come across Pokey O's - ho. ly. crap. are these ice cream sandwiches GOOD! Seriously though it's the cookies. Blue bell ice cream is as good as it always is, but these COOKIES are to die for. I got some sort of espresso/cappuccino cookie that was incredible!! I honestly have thought about it quite a bit since we've been. The ice cream sandwich is an amazing indulgence. I really want to try some of their other homemade snacks next time we're in...because there certainly will be a next time!!
google avatar

Bridget L.

Yelp
A nice little shop, great for SMU students. The employee was nice and gave me samples. The ice cream is certainly not home-made -- it just comes in big Blue Bell tubs. You can literally buy the exact same flavors next door at CVS for dirt cheap, but I guess it's better to enjoy your ice cream in the shop. It was still delicious. $2.40 for a scoop (or $3 for a whole pint at CVS). I had Krazy Kookie Dough and it brought back memories of childhood. The cookies looked pretty dry and bland, but I'd like to come back for an ice cream taco or a milkshake!

Yelp
When I lived in the Bay Area, I used to go to a place called "Cream", which is a dessert shop that sold cookie ice cream sandwiches. I was really craving a cookie ice cream sandwich and decided to google to see if there see are any similar stores in the dfw area. Pokey O's came up and i decided to give them a try. Their cookie and ice cream selection isn't as extensive as "Cream" and they don't warm the cookie before the cookie before serving it, but I was definitely satisfied! It's around $3.50 per cookie ice cream sandwich, which surprisingly costs more than "Cream" in the Bay Area ($3 for one, but only $2.50 if you pay cash). This place is located in the same strip mall as Barnes and Noble off Mockingbird Lane and 75, and so they have plenty of parking available. Their outdoor seating is limited though as they only have two tables available outside (unless you want to steal a table from the Starbucks next door). So if you're craving something sweet, stop by and get yourself a cookie ice cream sandwich!
google avatar

Avery R.

Yelp
I had been wanting to come here for a while, and it was good! The store smelled amazing and the ice cream is high quality. The cookies were a little on the crunchy side for me, though.
google avatar

Chelsea O.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get dessert. Prices are reasonable and the cookies are delicious! I highly recommend the cappuccino chocolate chunk cookie (i think that's what it's called)! I got it with cookies and cream ice cream and was in heaven Taking away one start because i wish the cookies were softer, sometimes they are a bit too crunchy. Will definitely continue to go here.
google avatar

Kelly O.

Yelp
Got the cookie ice cream sandwich (about $4.00). I got two coconut chocolate chips cookies with blue bell coconut ice cream in the middle. I wanted to add Oreo to the outside. They gave me a generous cup of Oreo crumbs to add myself bc they can only roll the sandwich in sprinkles. They claim to bake to cookies fresh daily. My cookies were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. I prefer a totally soft cookie but overall everything was really good. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I would recommend this place and would come again.
google avatar

Alisha S.

Yelp
This place is good, but nothing too special about it. The ice cream taco was pretty good and it's nice that they let you choose 3 flavors. My friend got an ice cream sandwich with 2 semisweet chocolate chip cookies and cookies n cream ice cream in the middle. Prices are reasonable as well.
google avatar

Jaci G.

Yelp
BIG! Ice cream sandwiches! How can you go wrong with blue bell and cookies? My chocolate chip cookie was cooked just right which made it easy to eat. I am happy with the customer service and the quality of the product! This is a great way to kick off summer and treat yourself!!!!

Magdalena F.

Yelp
My kids love this place! Ice cream and cookies are DELICIOUS !!! The staff is really good all the time, they have amazing energy ( especially one man who doesn't even mind my 6 year old singing haha)

Patti G.

Yelp
The cookie ice cream sandwich was yummy. Such a good variety. The service was fast and we loved it.
google avatar

Mai N.

Yelp
It was okay. We came here because we wanted ice cream sandwich and also wanted to compare with Tiff's Treats. It's located in the convenience area, and there is ample parking in front of the place. I ordered ice cream sandwich (two chocolate chip cookies and chocolate ice cream). My husband ordered ice cream sandwich (two chocolate chip cookies and cookie and cream). I kind of wanted to have different cookies, but the staff was already grabbing chocolate chip cookies even before I said anything, so I had to get these cookies. They DO NOT warm cookies which I didn't like about. Cookies weren't fresh. I can tell they were sitting there for long time. The portions were bigger than Tiff's Treats though. There are tables and chairs inside and outside. The prices and the service were okay. Since my experience wasn't great, I wouldn't probably come back here.
google avatar

Kirk K.

Yelp
This was my first first to a Pokey O's and it was an experience I'll never forget. My wife and I were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and the smell of freshly baked cookies that filled the shop. The employee, Floyd, was undoubtedly one of the most pleasant people I've ever encountered. Floyd was friendly, down-to-earth, and sincere people that I've encountered in a long time. Floyd was not only personable, but he was very knowledgeable of the products and helped me choose the perfect "Pokey O" sandwich for my taste buds. Now for the Pokey O sandwich itself. The Pokey O was soft and had just the right of sweetness to please my tastebuds and blew the traditional ice cream cookie out of the water. There is no doubt that I will return for a second visit
google avatar

Yhara D.

Yelp
The ice cream was good. Cookie was over cooked so it made eating the sandwich messy and difficult. Not sure if I would return.

Melody F.

Yelp
The employee honestly made the experience great!! It's good ice cream - Blue Bell - and cookies. It's a good stop if you are wanting something sweet.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Jamie and I went there after a nice dinner at Trinity Groves (Casa Rubia- see separate review), and ordered a jumbo ice cream sammy to share, built on two large "Texas State Fair" cookies with butter crunch ice cream. It was $7 plus tax, and worth every penny, with the best cookies I've EVER eaten (after 57 years of searching) and very tasty ice cream. We will most certainly be back soon, as we enter the steamy summer ice cream season.
google avatar

Thomas O.

Yelp
Amazing cookies and ice cream! I highly recommend going simple and getting the chocolate chip cookie with cookie and cream ice cream sandwich.
google avatar

Vanessah T.

Yelp
5 stars! This place was amazing! The chocolate chip cookies were out of this world (not stale or too thick, super thin and soft). Their ice cream is also all blue bell so that was very nice. Everything was very cheap for such great quality desserts. Definitely will be back.
google avatar

Bianca S.

Yelp
Two of my favorites...cookies and ice cream! I'm not a huge fan of cookie sandwiches (sensitive teeth) so I got a scoop of choc chip cookie dough in a cup with an iced sugar cookie inside. They use Blue Bell ice cream so you know it tastes good. The cookie was soft and sweet, but I think it was because it was iced---the non iced varieties looked hard and dry. Hubs got a butter pecan milkshake and it was horrible. I think they added too much milk. It had no flavor! No whip cream or cherry either :(
google avatar

Lindsay K.

Yelp
Good ice cream shop! You can get cookies, ice cream, or make a cookie ice cream sandwich. My favorite is the taco ice cream. Because we live in Texas & love tacos : ) The owner is super sweet & nice. Small outdoor spot to enjoy your treat but on a hot day you better eat fast.
google avatar

Meghan D.

Yelp
I would be in favor of giving cookies and ice cream their own spots on the food pyramid, so when I heard I could make my own cookie ice cream sandwich at Pokey O's I knew I had to go. There was plenty of room for creativity with 8+ cookie flavors and 10+ flavors of ice cream. I settled on a coconut chocolate chip cookie and a tuxedo cookie (chocolate and white chocolate chips) with chocolate chip ice cream with the help of the woman behind the counter, which was so appreciated because I probably could've stood there for another half hour coming up with potential combinations. Pokey O's is located right next to the SMU campus in a strip of restaurants and shops. There was ample parking and some indoor and outdoor seating, though what's better than walking around on a warm day enjoying your own ice cream cookie sandwich masterpiece. The cookies were sturdy enough that my sandwich did not become a smushed messed, but also not crumbly, so it didn't fall apart either.
google avatar

Nancy C.

Yelp
Located in a strip mall next to Barnes & Noble and Starbucks. Plenty of parking. The cookies were tasty and so was the ice cream. You can order ice cream sandwiches, ice cream in a cup with a cookie, or just plain ice cream on a cone or in a cup. Many options to get your sweet craving satisfied.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
They serve simple blue bell but why fix what's not broken am I right? It's a big college environment
google avatar

Garrett V.

Yelp
Tried a new ice cream place. Continently write next to SMU stadium, ice cream was served fast and had a cool, younger college vibe. Free water was a nice plus. Would recommend they ask to warm up the cookies- would be a great bonus
google avatar

Andrea R.

Yelp
We were craving a mind-blowing delicious dessert.. after a short bit of research and brainstorming, we decided Pokey O's was going to be our splurge. You choose your cookie, then your ice cream flavor, and they make you an ice cream cookie sandwich.. sounds like a no fail situation.. right? Well, staff not so friendly, cookies not so soft and ice cream too soft was a bad combination. Taste was great, but execution not so great. I left feeling disappointed and sugar overloaded. I'm open to suggestions on future places to splurge when my sweet tooth kicks in.
google avatar

Helena S.

Yelp
Had a craving for sweets, so I decided to check this place out. Located near SMU campus next to their Barnes and noble book store. We were greeted with an EXTREMELY friendly guy who offered us samples and gave us choices of what to get. I ended up getting the taco sandwich which comes with a taco shaped waffle cone filled with 3 flavors of your choice, we got a colorful one, butter pecan, and cookie dough. The ice cream itself was alright, it tasted normal, but I did really enjoy the waffle cone itself. The guy said all of them were Blue Bell, but idk. The total was less than $4 which I was shocked about, but besides the price being cheaper than other places, there wasn't anything too special about it.
google avatar

Kristin B.

Yelp
Love, love, love this concept. Basically, it's a build your own ice cream sandwich place. Or, in my opinion, an example of total genius. You walk in and are greeted with a wall of cookies about the size of the palm of your hand, of which you can pick two different flavors for your top and bottom halves. I went with a classic white chocolate macadamia nut and some sort of cappuccino/chocolate cookies as my base. The ice cream flavors are your classic Blue Bell options, from which I went with a chocolate peanut butter ice cream. In seconds, my perfectly portioned, custom ice cream sandwich was presented to me in a cute little bag. For just under $4, this is a reasonable treat. Also have to give a shout out to the super friendly cashier manning the place the day I was working. He was so cheerful and made my visit extra pleasant. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the cookies were just a touch underwhelming. It looks like they've fixed their cookie over-crunchiness issues, as the cookies were just perfectly pliable to serve as an ice cream sandwich base upon my visit. However, the flavor was just slightly industrial rather than homemade, reminding me of those Pepperidge Farm giant chocolate chunk cookies. This isn't necessarily a bad thing (I love me some Pepperidge Farm), but if the cookie quality was stepped up ever so slightly, this would be an easy five star review. Maybe they could look at outsourcing the cookies from nearby Village Baking Company? Now *that* combo would be an easy five star treat!

Yelp
GREATNESS IN MY MOUTH. I got the the chocolate chip cookie dough in between snickerdoodle cookies. It was great and highly recommend.
google avatar

Jacquelyn S.

Yelp
This place has a great concept, I loved the idea of a cookie sandwich shop. I definitely wish there was a little more creativity. You walk in, it's cutely decorated like a small ice cream diner. So cute! Unfortunately the Ice cream sandwich wasn't special. I expected the ice cream options to be a little more creative. Very basic, not the best options. Toppings were so so, not very unique. Marble slab and cold stone have much better options because they're an ice cream shop. Cookies were alright, noting special. I enjoyed my cookie sandwich but it was very messy, Ice cream wasn't cold enough to hold itself. Cookie crumbled, maybe if the cookies were a little softer it would have kept its structure and easier to bite. The flavor of the cookie was basic. Let down by that. Another let down-Pretzels. They have pretzels on the wall with a giant pretzel logo (so right away-I assumed they'd be great!), and then I see them on the menu, so I expected them to have really yummy homemade hot pretzels and luckily the guy working told us they weren't good because I would have been upset to waste my money on a crappy pretzel. If the cookies had been rolled in sprinkles or chocolate chips or something on the edges maybe it would have been more enjoyable? Not sure. I personally didn't fall in love enough to say I really enjoyed the experience. If there were changes I would definitely be a returning customer.
