Pollos Asados El Canelo

I recently visited this restaurant and tried their flautas endiabladas. While the flautas were tasty, I found them to be overly drenched in ranch dressing, which overshadowed the flavors. They could definitely benefit from more cheese and a side of sour cream for balance. On a positive note, the restaurant itself was clean, and the staff member who assisted me was very friendly. I appreciated how quickly my food was prepared for takeout, which was a nice surprise. However, I don't think I'll order the flautas again. I felt they were overpriced given the lack of toppings and the heavy ranch. Overall, it was a decent experience, but there’s room for improvement on the dish.

I arrived and Jocelyn took our order once I paid I asked her did it come with a drink she said no but if you do a review you do get a free lemonade or orchata or Jamaica I said ok let me do it. I showed her the review and got posted and she saw it with the address of the place and said my manager is still looking into it so long story short Neither the manager or Jocelyn never followed up with my drink and I was done with my food had to get a Gatorade I had in my truck the food was good but for my First Time Experience coming from McAllen TX El Valle RGV 956 i was a little disappointed ☹️😞 with the service and professionalism manager could have said you know what I see you did it let me get it for you anyways but no my friend had to ask the other waitress about the drink and she was line well at least let me bring you some water but i was done oh well Dont think I will be back to this one 😢

Today my fiancé and I decided to try this place out. We ordered a half chicken and the chicken flautas with a side of salsa endiablada, an agua fresca and a medium drink. Total: $30. The food was really good so I didn’t mind the slightly expensive price. Also didn’t mind it because the portions are very good as well. The half chicken was seasoned very nicely. The right amount of salt. The frijoles charros were authentic, the rice was good and the flautas were also delicious. Will definitely come back and try different menu items. Strongly recommend. It definitely surprised me.

Jocelyn was very helpful at the front desk... The food was amazing 1/2 chicken with 2 side for under 13 buck ...wow Good and amazing.

Don’t know if it was an off day or what but the chicken was hella dry. The rice was also bland. My first time and def my last .

My family and I came here to lunch before visiting the Stockyards. It was a great setting and atmosphere, the service was great and the staff was welcoming. The food wasn’t bad but we’ve had better.

Delicious food and absolutely gorgeous place. As a mexican myself, El Canelo tasted and smelled like real authentic mexican food. I am a very picky rice eater who only eats specific rice made by specific people vut this rice was absolutely delicious! The service was really good and all the workers were really kind! We got our food within 15 minutes or so. I would 100% recommend the food!

OMG the chicken flautas in a cup are soooooo good. Macaroni salad reminds me of my mom's. Yum

It was all cooked to perfection, tender juicy chicken (we got the spicy and regular), with fajita , charro beans, and patatas fritas. They had amazingly spicy sauces to accompany. Very delicious and can't wait till next time!

pedimos ahi el pollo llego super seco hable con una senorita muy amable qu eme dijo que me lo iban a cambiar se llevaron el pollo para atras lo manosearon todo y luego salen y docen que el pollo ya tiene mucho tiempo y por eso esta seco y no me lo van a cambiar o solo me cambiarian uno de los 3 que pedi .... el senor muy grocero me dijo que el era el dueño .... esas no son maneras de tratar a los clientes . nosotros ordenabamos de ahi al menos una vez al mes y es la primera vez que nos quejamos y ordenamos parea toda la oficina ... asi se pierden los clientes .... Super mal servicioo no recomiendo comer aqui

It was ok. It could have just been what I ordered. My husband said he really liked his meal and he got a chicken sandwich (looked like a burger). We ordered 2 drinks and those were not good at all. They were 2 sodas but didn't taste like it. I ended up gatting a water. My food was dry and flavorless. The rice was ok and the beans could have been better. The service was fast and friendly though. Its small on the inside but it's nice and clean. I would probably give it another shot and order soemthing different next time.

First time visiting this location. I came to eat with my family and was yelled at by one the employees that we could not sit unless we had ordered. My wife was at the register ordering food for my family and I. Terrible customer service. Would not recommend unless you don't mind being yelled at by ghetto staff.

Every time we've ordered from here they've taken forever to get us our food. Horrible service

Had to try it since it's been mentioned lots lately but I didn't care for it much. The chicken had a yum flavor but it was not fresh. It was dry and the texture was not soft enough for me. The charro beans were too watery and not flavorful. The onions were over cooked and the black part stuck to the foil. The only thing I liked was the rice and tortillas. I'll just stick to the one I've always liked on Mansfield Highway

Had to come and try their grilled whole chicken with a side of charro beans and side salad! It was fantastic and filling for me and my gf. Service was fast, which bodes well for the drive thru option but we ate inside. The dine in area is cozy but comfortable. Overall, loved the experience and we were so hungry we failed to take a picture! Will be back for sure!

Este es un nuevo restaurante de pollo asados. Pedimos 1 Pollo Endiablado y la mitad del pollo asado. Pedimos 2 lados de patatas porque no sabíamos Que tan grande era la porcion y también un lado de arroz y frijoles charros. El Pollo Asado viene con salsa roja y verde y el Pollo Endiablado viene con 2 ranch. Ambos estilos de pollo asados estaban buenos, pero el que más me gustó de los dos es el Pollo Endiablado con su salsa característica. Agregan mucha salsa y la salsa es realmente buena. El ranch también esta bueno. No era fanático de sus frijoles charros, sentía que necesitaban cocinarse más y también necesitaban un poco de sal. El arroz estaba bien. Las salsas estaban buenas. Definitivamente recomendaría este restaurante si te gusta comer un buen pollo asado bien sazonado y un pollo asado bañado en su salsa especial. This is a new Grilled Chicken restaurant and tried their Grilled Chicken today. We ordered 1 whole Chicken with their signature sauce and half of the grilled chicken. We ordered 2 sides of the potato wedges because we didn't know how big the portion size would be and also a side of rice and frijoles charros. The Regular grilled chicken comes with red and green salsa and the Endiablado grilled chicken with their signature sauce also comes with 2 ranches. Both grilled chicken styles were good but the one I loved the most out of the two is the Endiablado Grilled Chicken with their signature sauce. They add plenty of sauce and the sauce is really good. The ranch is good too. I wasn't a fan of their charro beans, feel like they needed to be cooked more and also needed some salt. The rice was okay. The salsas were good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you like eating a good grilled chicken that's well seasoned and if you like to put sauce on your chicken.

Nothing special about it, not much flavor to the chicken. Hate when a place is over hyped and then your let down after how delicious it looks.

Too much of a hype for regular tasting chicken. Missing flavor. Beans were good, rice was ok.

Such good chicken!! Crispy skin super flavorful! Rice is decent, beans are ok, would prob skip those and get the macaroni salad instead. The green salsa is spicy and so yummy! Bought two whole chickens one was seasoned so perfectly the second one was actually a bit saltier so that was odd but still edible and delish! We took it to go and it was super hot and juicy. For sure worth a try!

I tried this place out recently and so glad I did! I love the set up they have inside. There's portraits hung and makes you feel like you're walking into a home rather an establishment. The staff was so kind and very helpful with offering suggestions on the menu because I couldn't make up my mind. Everything just looked so yummy! The flavoring is not over powering at all and pricing is very affordable. WILL be coming back !

pretty mid but decent, the buffalo sauce is nasty though. rice is plain, chicken alright, idk maybe i'll be back.
