Great pyzy and Hungarian pancakes (placki ziemniaczane)! I highly recommend! The tripe soup (flaki) was mouth-gasmic! Run to this place!

I had a very enjoyable lunch here. I got the sampler to go with boiled perogies and kielbasa. The Kielbasa was very flavorful, the stuffed cabbage was loaded with meat, and the perogies were so moist. The sides all had distinctly different tasts. Tart saurkraut, sweet carrots, earthy sweet beets, light cole slaw, and strong purple cabbage. Can't wait to get a perogie sampler and some borscht next time.

This was magical gem in Bay Ridge for polish food. We ordered the fruit compote drink, cucumber soup, pierogi, and nalesniki (rolled crepe) and it was delicious! The cucumber soup should be renamed Sour Delightful Soup because it was absolutely to-die for. It has sliced pickles, celery, carrots and potatoes. It was incredibly rich and creamy and wonderfully sour. A must have for fans of sour foods.

If you’ve yet to try Polonica you’re missing out! The food here is absolutely incredible. It’s truly the best Polish food I’ve had in Brooklyn! They make a delicious Beef goulash that includes all the fixings at a price that’s hard to beat considering the great quality. The staff is always so warm and welcoming. Delivery is quick and the food travels well. Not much more you could ask for.

Such a great experience the food and the service were amazing. It was nice chatting with the owner to very friendly. Took the time to have a nice conversation and make sure all of our needs were met for a great dinner. Thank you fabritzio

Good for what it is, affordable prices and basic menu. Delicious but a bit salty. Got the boiled potato and sauerkraut pierogis, chicken meat balls, potato pancakes, and plain borscht. For beverages I tried the Kompot and it was really tasty. I would definitely eat here again.

I ordered take out. Chicken meatballs with double mash, let just say it was so good! It was delivered within 40 min and was piping hot. Truly a gem in Bay Ridge

Pierogis get 5 stars! Best I've ever had. We had the mixed serving - potato-cheese, potato-mushroom and potato-spinach. One order friend and the other boiled (SERVED W/ FRIED ONIONS & SOUR CREAM OR APPLE SAUCE) we chose the sour cream. We also ordered the house salad which came served as an array of different colorful and tasty choices. EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious. The ambiance is cute and cozy - lots of free pure oxygen with all the plants around which made it feel very organic. Service was friendly. We will be back!

One extra star for politeness of the host but pirogi mix I ordered to go were only potato and some kind unknown substance ones with no flavor or taste at all .Unfortunately way to bland, generic version I can get in my local Supermarket for $5.95 instead of $12. Very disappointing!

Small unique restaurant with amazing food. The service is very fast. The barley soup was a hearty filling soup. The pierogis fried were a crisp crunchy bite every time. Lots of vegetarian options. Will be coming back to try more.

Polonica is great. Hands down a great option for comfort food in the Bay Ridge area. They are very consistent with their food quality and service. Portions are great and the menu is expansive and worth exploring. The restaurant has great veggie options as well as all the Polish classics. I have been coming here for a while. Here's what I usually get: House Salad (don't miss this) Mushroom & potato pierogi (served with sautéed onions) Red Borscht With Croquet (chicken croquet) Beverage: Kompot - Homemade fruit punch. + A blintz if I feel like waddling home Think crepe with filling - super yummy and sharable

One of my most favorite restaurants in Bay Ridge. Comfort food at its finest. Whether you are dining in or ordering out the service is always great. My personal favorites are the stuffed cabbage and potato dumplings, but everything on the menu that I have tried is delicious.

Delicious just so wonderfully delicious don't sleep on the gravy! They give you so much the next day I used it in my dinner I made. I had the potato pancakes drool and the steamed dumplings assortment and they were all so yum. Will definitely order again!

The food is good, never did dine in, usually I just get take out. My favorite is the red borscht and stuffed cabbage.

The food doesn't taste fresh, is not great and it is pre-prepared. And have a rude service.

This is the BEST restaurant ever !! The food is amazing, everything that we have ever ordered was excellent and super delicious. The delivery is always fast. I'm Russian and my husband is Polish, and I gotta say even he was surprised that our favorite tripe (Flaki) soup is exactly the way his mother makes. The white borscht (Zurek) is delicious as well. The pork chop is super tender and juicy, the meatballs with gravy melt in your mouth, and love the salads that come with everything. And we always get the cheese and fruit blintzes for dessert. We've never been more happy with ordering in. Everything on the menu is delicious and homemade. Complements to the Chef. We order almost everyday sometimes even twice. it's definitely worth every penny !! Cant wait to try their Bigos (hunters stew), it's made with sauerkraut, my mother in-law makes it every winter. This place is definitely a taste of home. God Bless them !!!

Polonica is the perfect spot for comfort food. My friend and I ordered delivery from here after passing by the restaurant a few times. We both like Polish food but hadn't really thought of it as one of our Bay Ridge go-to's until Polonica. The portions are HUGE. I ordered the Kielbasa dinner with Polish sausage (served boiled or fried), topped with onions and mustard on the side. I swapped the side salad for an order of mashed potatoes. My friend ordered the Meat Pyzy, potato dumplings stuffed with meat (unclear what type of meat, but still delicious, nonetheless). We both had plenty left over and were STUFFED at the end of our meal. In reality, we could have ordered one entree to split, but wanted to have 2 different dishes to sample from. We're looking forward to dining in the actual restaurant soon, and will keep Polonica on our list of top spots in Bay Ridge.

The Polish Restaurant Polonica has amazing food & service! My favorite is the chicken cutlet with salad along with the kielbasa. As for the restaurant the decor is really nice along with being able to enjoy a delicious meal in a quiet setting. This restaurant is a "10" to enjoy with friends, family members, significant other or co workers for lunch or dinner!!

Delicate and yummy perrogies - yummy borsch and barley soup. Highly recommend! Worth the trip.

Ordered take out on a hot day. Inside was very stuffy, not enough AC to enjoy a meal on such hot day. Food leaves a lot to be desired. Kooytkq I had better ones frozen. Mushroom sauce tastes like those powders prepared ones. Cheese potato pierogis are just ok nothing I would come back for. Polish chicken meatballs have a artificial tasting binder and aren't good. Potato accompaniment is slightly watery in flavor. Accompanying salads taste like from those jars you can buy in Polish stores. Overall I don't recommend. The place needs a way better chef.

Food was good, especially the dessert blintzes. The service is very poor and slow. The guy who run it also takes orders and maybe bc he's stressed he's very snappy with ppl and gave us attitude. I also saw him reprimand a delivery food worker for not pushing in his chair in front of the customers. Again good food, not great service--maybe just do take out and remember to push in your chair if you don't want to be yelled at in public.

I will come back to Polonica because I love Polish food and it is the closest place to me for it. Their food is phenomenal. But g*ddamn, the waiter last time raised my BP. It was my birthday, so maybe the confounding factor was advancing age, but I don't think so... He screeched at us "no outside drinks" within seconds of sitting down and seeing we had a closed soda (I don't use bags and hold stuff in my hands/pockets). I saw him shouting something at kitchen staff in Spanish/Polish. Then I saw him banging on the door for Carlito (I think another staff member) to come out.. When he didn't come out, he himself BARGED IN. You know. I also get Type A sometimes and need to work, work, work. I get it- the pierogis need to come out hot. Customers can't pronounce "Zywiec". So despite the high cortisol levels running this place, I will definitely come back because they are so delicious. And it was all pretty funny, too.

Known for the best Perogi in Brooklyn. Many more traditional polish dishes on the menu. So many soup choices all homemade....Barley, Mushroom, Cucumber , Vegtable, Ukrainian Borscht, Bean, Tomato, Sauerkraut (!!!!!), chicken noodle, Red Borscht with dumplings or potato croquet, White Borscht & Tripe. Combination platters offer a variety of tasting combos worth trying! You will not be disappointed & will look forward to many return visits.

I spent most of my adult life living in the East Village where there is (there used to be much more) lots of Ukrainian restaurants. I love Veselka (though now it's expensive & fancied up), Kiev (no longer there), B & H Dairy, etc. That's what I was looking for. This place wasn't those, but it was special on its own. I missed the yummy Challah bread that comes with soft butter when you order a bowl or cup of soup. This place served plain bread with hard cold butter. Now to the good part...it's yummy & vegetarian friendly. Ok, no entries were vegetarian, but that didn't matter. I was there for the pirogies (lots of veg choices)& the soup (lots of veg choices). I was too full to try the crepes. At Veselka & B & H I always loved their cup of Mushroom Barley. They only had the choice to order a bowl and they had Barley or Mushroom. I ordered the Barley and it was delicious, filled with carrots & onions and top with fresh herbs. Pierogis were soft (order them boiled) & fresh. The onions they were served with could have been cooked a little more but were delicious. Until back in my old hood this is a decent Veselka / B & H Dairy alternative for me. Next time, I'll try the crepes.

In our effort to support our local restaurants, we went to another great place with delicious food! They didn't have their backyard ready until next week, but accommodated us in the front! Stuffed Cabbage and meatballs. So full. So good. The sides that come with it... So yum!

From start to finish this place was AMAZING. Waiter was so nice as we were unfamiliar with the culture and which dishes to select! He recommended all the best! Such a good prices for huge portions and the food is homemade, fresh and clean! Everything is amazing!!! You won't regret going to dinner here!

I remember going to the older space years ago. The new Polonica is larger and immaculate, and charmingly decorated- especially for the Holidays. And the menu was extensive. Everything looked and sounded delicious. Believe me, it was. I started with the rich barley soup, with a hearty purée of vegetables and pieces of bacon and potatoes. The owner, Elizabeth, asked if I wanted any bread, and that was tasty too. For my entree, I decided to have one of their combination platters, with delicate potato pierogi, kielbasa with robust mustard, and wonderful stuffed cabbage. Of course, that was more than enough food for one person, but the quality and quantity speak for themselves. Everything is flavorful and generously portioned- real comfort food! I took home what I couldn't finish, and had a refreshing kompot fruit punch to help me on my way. I remember one of my grandmothers making those years ago. The service is attentive and friendly. It was a wonderful way to enjoy a pre-New Year's meal. I'll certainly be back next year to enjoy some more!

I had tried their soup. I forgot what exactly what it was called but wow it was a great! I think the prices are fair. I think the owners are nice and friendly! I went here before COVID and seeing the inside was beautiful! They have a lot of potential to do great! I hope they stay open!

I've been here 2 times and each time was a great experience. I think the prices are a smidge high, but for this quality and quantity I can deal with that. The service is always excellent, and most days, early, you can feel like you own the place and just sit back and relax. Open and bright seating. The potato pancakes and dumplings/pierogi's are just amazing and authentic. The soups are also hearty and filling. I need to try some of these "best of Brooklyn" bacon wrapped items that they tout on their chalkboard. Overall, if you enjoy this type of food, or are looking to try something new this is a great spot in Bay Ridge.

I was craving chicken noodle soup, but felt too under the weather to make some myself, so I decided to order some along with some sauerkraut and boiled mushroom pierogies. Both were incredibly delicious. The chicken noodle soup didn't come with any chicken meat, which is fine by me. I'm not sure it normally comes with some or not since it was the first time I ordered it. But I still highly recommend it if you're okay with little to no meat because it tasted so fresh and homemade. The noodles are a thinner noodle instead of your traditional wide egg noodles. Normally, the pierogies comes with fried onions. But they were missing from my order. I didn't mind the missing fried onions, but thought it was still helpful to call and let the restaurant know. They were extremely apologetic and even offered to deliver them for me since I lived in the neighborhood. Small mishaps happens from time to time, but it's more important in how a business responds and treats their customers. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant for both their food and customer service!

Delicious, authentic Polish food. my husband studied in Poznan, Poland and thought the food here was on point with authentic Polish cuisine. Expect a casual laid back atmosphere with excellent service. Our favorite was the chicken cutlet, seasoned and cooked to perfection! It was our son's birthday, and they gave him a nice celebration. We came all the way from LI to try this place and we'd come again! thank you!

Love this place. I've only ever done outdoor dining and takeout but the food is EXCELLENT. I like the stuffed chicken and the borscht. I love the little slaw type salads!

Liked the restaurant better. Amounts are huge! Pancakes were very large, would preys smaller portion.

New personal fave.... the mushroom soup is good enough to shove the person ahead of you off the line if they're getting the last serving of it! Hahahaaaa (or a box of tissues)

Finally had a chance to check this place out. Glad I did. I'm no expert on Polish cuisine, beyond having a few favorites in Greenpoint and the East Village over the years, I think this place is doing things right. Commenting on what I had specifically: - House salad was good, and the variety of cabbage on the plate was a nice touch. They include a good mixture of styles, although the portion was extremely tiny, not what you'd expect from one of the cheapest vegetables. I was really hoping for more to balance out the amount of meat, because you get a lot of it. - My sausage was huge (that's what she said!) but jokes aside, the Kielbasa was a large portion of meat, and that's great. It was cooked well, crisp on the outside, and juicy on the inside. Very nicely prepared, not burned or undercooked, flavors were great. Overall: Between the salad and kielbasa, I really enjoyed my meal. My only real complaint is that it was missing something, maybe it just needed more salad because it ended up being extremely one-sided. Just a big portion of meat with mustard after a few forkful's of cabbage. Maybe some potatoes would have completed the Polish Kielbasa Dinner. At $14, I think it needs something else for the price, which to be honest is kind of pricey for a single sausage (as large as it was) and a tiny portion of cabbage. But that aside, the food was good and will hopefully be back in the future to try more from the menu.

Food is good but the service is horrendous the stocky manager/waiter has no manners just throws the food on the table told my son not to put his toy car on the table etc

Picking up stuffed cabbage and pierogis has become one of our go-to take out orders. Also love the generous pickled salad that comes with most dishes.

So glad to see Polonica re-open. The best Polish food we have ever had! Same owners, same great food. The décor is upgraded. New location We always get the Pork chops and the Hungarian pancakes. both just amazing. all the entrees come with a colorful salad. huge portions at a reasonable price! Still cash only and BYOB. the owners did say they have applied for a liquor license

One of our favorite restaurants in the neighborhood with a wide variety of Polish dishes . They have never let us down ! It is downright fine Polish home cooking, with very generous portions, each entree comes with a choice of potato, and house salad which consists of individual little mounds of cole slaw, sauerkraut, shredded beets,red cabbage, and shredded carrots. The menu is quite extensive with a big variety of appetizers, soups , and entrees. The potato pancakes served with goulash, brown gravy and peppers, is probably one of the best things I've ever tasted. And.. they deliver !

The waiter we had was an idiot. I asked him how the tripe was made and he said, "Polish way." When I asked him what spices and herbs were in there he said, "Polish spices and herbs." I am not joking. The man wasn't Polish so I asked him to tell me what are the Polish spices. He said, "The Polish ones." I explained that I hate cilantro and cayenne/jalapeños. I thought I was on Candid Camera. Anyway, I orders the tripe and it was gross. Smelled like feces. I've eaten tripe made in Italian and Jamaican restaurants and it's delicious. Between the service and the flavor I will never go back. My boyfriend had sausage and he said it was good. Never again.

I love Polonica. It's the perfect place for a nice winter meal on a cold night. The restaurant is small and I've never seen it very crowded. They have a few wines by the glass and some beer. They have excellent pierogis. The last time I was there I had the vegetable soup and it was delicious. The portions here are very large and you really get a lot for your money. The food is relatively inexpensive. The entrees come with a salad. The salad consists of carrots, beets, cole slaw, red cabbage and some lettuce with dill. I've had the stuffed chicken breast, beef stroganoff, the hunter's stew and stuffed peppers. They are served with mashed potatoes. I enjoy all of the entrees they have. My boyfriend's favorite is the pork chop topped with mushrooms and melted mozzarella. If you have room for dessert, try the blintzes!

Very tasty food. My family and I go there often, and every time we are greeted by the ANGRY!!!!! face of the waiter. it's horrible! I have never seen such a terrible service. the waiter is never satisfied, he never smiles. DISGUSTING!!!

Their food is so good. The service was fast, the food is clean, fresh, and light; is does not have a greasy feel or taste. Very yummy, and will order from here again. I recommend for sure.

They have relocated and great space with outdoor seating! Food is solid and although it is not BYO anymore the alcohol is affordable. I recommend getting a dish that comes with the assorted salad items.

AMAZING food! I had no idea about this place even though I live a block away until my mom and her friends had gone there and had left over food. They saved me mushroom soup and a variety of perogies. I had never eaten polish food before and now I'm obsessed! I've literally been back 4 times since I had the leftovers my mom gave me and ordered as well. The potato and cheese fried perogies were so delicious, the mushroom soup is TO DIE FOR GOOD! Potato pancakes with applesauce and sour cream are so amazing! Literally everything I've tried I've been so extremely pleased with. The atmosphere is simple. Blue and white inside and dimly lit. The music is soft radio, not loud, but enough to have a conversation without being over heard. It's small and narrow inside and it's serviced by the owner herself. Definitely 5 star food! Try it!!!!!

Poles have gotten a lot a crap through the years: being victimized in war, the scapegoat of blond jokes; the list goes on. Poles, you KNOW how to make food. I'm not talking, "here is your crab on a lettuce leaf" kind of food, I'm talking about, "let me make you some red borscht and dumplings because you look like you need some tummy loving" kind of food. My food that makes sweet, sweet love to my digestive organ, is blissful to me. Polonica, you remind me of being in my Aunt Danuta's house. The smells taunt me; The Polish singing comforts me; My bowl is empty - I need more! Polonica goes to show you that size doesn't count for anything! Yes, there is only five tables but seriously, suck it up and wait. Wait patiently or babcha will come out and slap some sense into you! From pierogies to stuffed cabbage, everything here provides you all the right ingredients to have a typical "what if" day as a Pole. Don't order a soup, an appetizer and two entrees like me and my beau did; portions are as big as Poland itself! Leave room for dessert! Why come? 1) because it's healthier than Burger Bistro right across the street; maybe.... 2) you can't afford to go to Poland 3) you want an intimate setting to watch your beau greedily slurp your borscht since he didn't know how amazing it really was. Don't share the soup; you'll be thinking about it long after the dinner is over!

Yay!!! Finally got to try this place out. Delicious food, very tasty and flavorful. My friends and I shared the potato and cheese Pierogi. So tasty!! I also tried their stuffed cabbage, which was also delcious. Reasonable price and big portions! Overall I enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Ate here last night for the first time and it definitely will not be the last. I ordered pierogies and salad. My boyfriend had pierogies, salad, and one of the beef dishes. Everything we ate was delicious and we had a fun conversation with our waiter (Sorry, we did not get his name.) whose wife does the cooking. He is from Ecuador. Wonderful, fun, conversation and food. Definitely will be back.

This was one of the best meals I have ever enjoyed. My friend and I walked in on a whim after seeing their extensive pierogi selection. We split the mushroom & potato boiled pierogi which were incredible with a side of onions and sour cream. For mains I had the Hungarian pancakes with goulash and bell peppers. My friend had the kielbasa. Both were fantastic and represented the best of polish cuisine. The side salad was incredible, especially for a dish that is typically an afterthought. The service was absolutely perfect. Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

We've ordered form Polonica many many times over the years. Tonights order was truly shocking. The main part of the meal was good as usually but they really skimped on the side salads. They usually have heaping loads of the sauerkraut, slaw, carrots, etc. Tonight, on all 3 meals ordered, we barely had a tablespoon of the salads. I don't know what changed but that, along with them now charging for a few slices of rye bread, is really disappointing.

Polish restaurants in New York City are often cavernous and rustic, their seating and food sized for families and friends, the more the merrier. So it goes in neighborhoods like Ridgewood and Greenpoint, but not so in Bay Ridge, where Polonica occupies a petite storefront from which to dispense very good Polish food. With several tables for two or four, a large group could commandeer the entire main dining room, a simply decorated and comfortable space. The menu is long enough to have plenty to choose from but their best dishes are the classics: silky skinned pierogies, tender and delicately flavored stuffed cabbage, addictive potato pancakes, tart and savory white borscht, and tasty kielbasa brimming with spices. There's a terrific medley of cabbage and beet salads that come with entrees, beautifully arranged to flaunt their colors, that contrast well with the richer foods. Hunters stew skewed salty, while a generously large fried pork chop is serviceable but not a dish to remember. Their homemade fruit punch is worth a mention: tart, fruity, and easy on sweet. The usual sodas and juices are among other beverage offerings. A lovely place for classic Polish foods in Bay Ridge. Friendly, sweet service makes it just right.
