The Best Restaurants on New Orleans’s Magazine Street Uptown | Eater New Orleans

"Chef Aom Srisuk opened Pomelo in 2021, a small jewel box of Thai cuisine that she followed up with the seafood-centric Good Catch in the CBD last year. But Pomelo is special, a Valentine to her home country that includes familiar noodle dishes and curries along with specials that speak more to common Thai street food. Pok pok noodles is a frequent special, chewy glass noodles tossed with a flavorful family of roasted barbecue pork shoulder, baby bok choy, peanuts, and chili." - Beth D’Addono

The Best Thai Restaurants in and Around New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Named for the grapefruit-like citrus native to Southeast Asia, Pomelo is a welcoming cafe serving chef Aom Srisuk’s traditional Thai cuisine based on family recipes she learned at her parent’s restaurant in Bangkok. Her Massaman curry chicken is studded with potatoes, onion, and peanuts, fragrant with cinnamon, cardamom, and a hint of star anise. Som yam soup delivers the sour and sweet flavor punch that distinguishes so many Thai dishes. Specials bring Thai street food to the table." - Beth D’Addono

A Running List of the Best New Restaurant Openings in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Run by Bangkok native Aom Srisuk and her husband Frankie Weinberg, I found Pomelo on Magazine Street to be a traditional-leaning Thai cafe serving family-style dishes, street-food noodles, and curries; it is currently BYOB and open for lunch Friday through Sunday and dinner Wednesday through Sunday." - Clair Lorell

Google
Small space with limited seating, but they do have outdoor patio which is really cute. They were able to accommodate nine of us for my bday dinner. Food was very flavorful. I loved all the veggies including mustard greens in my curry. It's BYOB but there is an uncorking fee for wine etc

Matt O.

Google
Aom created such an amazing atmosphere with delicious, authentic Thai dishes. Well deserving of a visit if you want some of the best Thai food in the area. Green chicken curry and seafood thom yum wonton soup were incredible

George O.

Google
Thai is my favorite cuisine and this is one of the few Thai restaurants in the Metro area that I'd never experienced. The menu is full of mouthwatering Thai classics but the atmosphere and presentation are a bit more upscale than most of their competitors with slightly higher prices to match but nothing too outrageous.

Nelson Q.

Google
These Thai dishes were awesome!! Full of favor, tender meats, rich broth and yummy noodles! Place is small but welcoming and chill. And our serves was spectacular!! So friendly!! 100% recommend

Google
I ordered a veggie dish, and it was so salty and under seasoned. I went back and told them, and they said that because I ordered vegetarian then it would be bland. I said that’s not acceptable, they kept asking if I want more sweet. I told them I want spicy and they went back to remake. When I pay$21 plus tax for a mixed vegetable dish, I expect authentic and delicious, not bland and unappealing. NOLA cuisine is not like this, seems like are authentic places are becoming focused on clientele that want bland rice and veggies. Update: they remade it and it seemed like frozen broccoli and rice. Cold, bland, salty, not spicy. I appreciate them remaking it, but unfortunately it did not make a difference.

Google
Food was amazing and service was even better! Our waitress & the kitchen staff were so kind and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Google
I got the Tom Kha Soup. A man it was REALLY good. That is my favorite soup and hand down this is some of the best I have ever had. This is definitely a spot I won’t forget on my travels.

Sergio Q.

Google
Great food and service. Their specialty noodles was the best I’ve had in awhile

Janae H.

Yelp
Took this when we were almost done but omg everything was DELICIOUS!! The pasta was so good and the Green Curry and it was the best curry I've EVER had. The flavors from both dishes were beyondddd good. If you don't like spicy things these dishes may not be for you but we loved it. Can't wait to go back ‍

Yelp
Pomelo was Thai food heaven. I'd been wanting to come here and I honestly can't believe it took me as long as it did. The dining room has limited seating but it wasn't overcrowded when we were there. Don't let the quaint space fool you, the food is absolutely superb. To start we ordered the spicy pork dumplings and every bite was a flavor explosion in my mouth. Next, I had my go-to the Khao Soi curry with shrimp. It's really hard to describe but the flavors are so well put together in this dish. It's truly just one of the best things ever. I literally order it at every Thai restaurant and Pomelo has truly perfected the flavors and proportions of the ingredients. *Chef's kiss* We didn't have room in our tummies for dessert but I will be back again soon to see what options are on the menu. I can see myself going to Pomelo on at least a biweekly basis for my Thai fix.

Yelp
A friend of mine (NO native, who still visits the city often) recommended this place and I'm so glad I got to try it during my short stay (April 2024)! It's not your run of the mill Thai restaurant with extensive menu (noodles, soups, salads. curries, stir fried dishes with different protein choices..) It has some interesting menu options and the price seems slightly higher than average Thai restaurants, but what you get is a uniquely different experience. My favorite was the spicy wontons- the sauce on top was like crack..I basically drank it. lol really distinctive flavor, slightly sweet and tangy with enough heat! Pok Pok noodle was fun. The pork was a little over powering but it was overall a satisfying dish with interesting texture, slight heat, and nutty flavor. My friend got Kai soi, which was delicious. I wish I could have ordered and tried more dishes. I'll definitely visit again! * We went there when it was close to the end of their business hour. Our server was friendly and his recommendation was good!

Yelp
Keep calm & CURRY on! My wife & I love Thai food, so we decided to see what New Orleans has to offer. During my (extensive!) research on the best places to dine this trip, I stumbled across Pomelo Thai Boutique Restaurant. Pomelo is located on Magazine St & specializes in authentic Thai comfort food. We started with the Salmon Tsuke featuring house-marinated sashimi-grade salmon with ginger, garlic & chili served with seaweed wrap & seafood sauce. The plate of salmon we were presented was a work of art. You place the salmon & some rice atop the seaweed wrap, add your desired amount of sauce & enjoy. The salmon was fresh with a magnificent punch of umami & fiery heat from the chili. Delectable! We also tried the Thai Herbal Sausage served with pickled ginger, fresh chilis & greens. The sausage was meaty & complex with a strong presence of garlic, which I loved. Pleasantly distinctive compared to your standard conecuh, smoked or Italian sausages. Moving on to the Pok Pok Noodles featuring glass noodles, roasted bbq pork shoulder, shrimp, bok choy, peanuts, chili & added wonton in a robust broth. This dish's flavor was incredibly unique. The broth is tangy with an essence of peanutty sweetness & VERY spicy. My wife said it was at the top of her spice tolerance. As a "hot head", I was perfectly content. I particularly enjoyed the roasted bbq pork shoulder. It was incredibly tender & flavorsome. Pomelo is a gem! Its atmosphere is adorably cozy. Owned by husband & wife team Frankie & Chef Aom who are a pleasure themselves. Chef Aom has created a beautiful, creative menu. No cocktails, but a small wine & beer selection. As a tourist, you have to do a bit of digging to know about this place, but I've HAPPILY done the digging for you. #eatingwithamy approved!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my meal at Pomelo! A friend and I came here to eat around 6pm on a Saturday night and we were able to be easily seated. We had the Chicken Satay to start and I loved the peanut sauce that they made to eat with it. For our main dishes, we had the Green Curry w/ Chicken and Krapow. My friend isn't able to eat seafood, but they were so kind and accommodating that they made the Krapow with Chicken for us. The Green Curry w/ Chicken was really delicious and had a great balance of flavors. The Krapow was also really great and has a sudden hint of spice towards the end of the bite. For dessert, we had the mango cream cheese cake and it was one of the greatest highlights of our meal. It's made in passionfruit sauce and it was created with absolute perfection. The service was also really great and her waitress was able to help with certain eating restrictions and food was also quickly served. The ambiance is also pretty nice and they have both indoor and outdoor seating!

Yelp
Needed a break from Cajun NOLA cuisine, this Thai restaurant was highly recommended, delicious! They use local seafood incorporated into their dishes with Thai spices and ingredients that the results are unique and delicious- such as the seafood with glass noodles (fresh mussels, shrimp, calamari, crab) deliciousness! Chicken massaman curry, delicious curry and spices. Spicy won ton appetizer, the waiter forgot, so no comments. Vegetable laab fresh and delicious. Food 5 stars! Service, well we were probably his last customers and he wanted to go home, so a bit neglected, ambiance, was seated outside ok.

Abraham L.

Yelp
Amazing food, fast with great service and ambience. We had the Khao soi and green curry both with chicken.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Cute and homey spot on Magazine, service was good, and food teetered from amazing to subpar. As for apps we got the chicken satay (pictured) and salmon tsuke. The chicken satay had an absolutely delicious curried peanut sauce but noticed a few pieces were undercooked. My partner couldn't get enough of the sauce so ate around the undercooked chicken. The salmon app was good! We got green curry and the seafood tom yum wonton soup. HIGHLY recommend the curry - the seafood soup, not so much. It lacked flavor all around and had an overpowering smell and taste of seafood (obv labeled "seafood soup" but this was just OFF). No flavor profile of tom yum at all, came out relatively cold, and just felt like we were eating boiled seafood that was sitting in water. Not rushing to go back.
google avatar

Courtney K.

Yelp
All the 5-star reviews are accurate! The flavors in this tiny little restaurant are huge! I can't remember the name of what I ordered but it had tofu and egg noodles. My friend got a chicken curry. Everything was delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more things and get carry out too! Service was not rushed at all. It's BYOB which I didn't realize- but the Thai Tea was fantastic and satisfying!
google avatar

Nicole Caridad R.

Yelp
Pomelo has some of the freshest Thai in town!! I often get takeout here and I've never been disappointed!!
google avatar

Swati S.

Yelp
The food is always tasty and quick and the service is always pleasant but highly disorganized. Ambiance is nice and quiet if you come early and noisy if you come later as the space is small. It's cool for a casual dinner I guess, but that's it.
google avatar

Anthony Z.

Yelp
I was so impressed by this restaurant. I had the Seafood Glass Noodle as my meal and the Chicken Satay as my appetizer. These noodles were so flavorful and tangy while being topped off by an assortment of seafood including mussels, shrimps, and squid. Didn't know I could eat glass noodle stir fried with such intricate Thai flavors! The chicken satay was so tender and juicy with a separate sauce that was tangy but had mango pieces in it to make it sweet. I poured that all over my chicken, making each bite a huge burst of flavor. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Welp...nothing bad to say about this place. It's small but the food packs a punch. I wandered in after shopping on magazine and ordered the green curry with shrimp. It has fantastic flavor and a nice kick of spice. It comes with a side of rice. Minimalist but nice decor. My food came out pretty quickly. I was full 3/4 of the way through but the greedy devil on my shoulder told me to keep eating bc it was THAT good. Looking forward to returning and trying something else on the menu.

Yelp
The charming, quaint restaurant exudes a delightful ambiance. Despite its small size, it delivers an explosion of flavors in its dishes. Every plate boasts a distinct and intricate taste, ranging from spicy to creamy, sweet and spicy, and rich. The Thai iced tea served as a perfect palate cleanser between each delectable bite. Its smooth, refreshing, and delightful quality added to the experience. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem, offering exceptional food and service. I eagerly look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Food was delicious but the service was very strapped. We had to keep asking for everything. Our water, our drinks, our silverware, an order we made after our food was so delicious that we wanted another that we eventually took to go. The food had amazing flavor. The green curry was delicious and the salmon dish sushi like dish was so good we had to order another. We just decided we would need to oder carry out to fully enjoy our experience from there in the future. And we did. The flavors were so good we needed to experience them again and then ordered pick up.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Thai place on Magazine. Great service and I highly recommend the pork & shrimp wontons and sweet corn with shrimp. We also had the Mii Kiew and the Pomelo curry noodles, also good. Just go!
google avatar

Spencer B.

Yelp
Food is always amazing. Cannot recommend the curry enough. Friends got the Tom yum and had two uncooked clams each in dish. Service was subpar. Food is 5 star, service is something to be desired. We did sit outside.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
I loved their wontons, but I was not a fan of their Tom Yum soup at all. I truly don't know what was in it that made it different, but it tasted like straight sugar. I also did not like their Thai Curry Puffs. It tasted like Indian food, and I do not love that cuisine. love panang curry, and they do not make that so I got a green curry. It was OK just not exactly what I wanted. Service was eh.

M L.

Yelp
This is nothing like true Thai food! I have no idea how this place could be raved about so highly. I went with their so called special dish Sum Tom platter. The pork was flavorless cold and tough. The shrimp had zero spices, not even soy sauce and lemon grass or anything that is used in Thai cooking. No tamarind, no ginger... NOTHING! Pork rinds... REALLY? The noodles... you guessed it, zero flavor! I love salmon but I'm pretty sure this is farmed salmon from Scotland! And the flavor wasn't spicy or even Thai once again. The only half was decent was the green papaya salad which is normally spicy. The place was empty so I think the reviews are false.
google avatar

Madison W.

Yelp
you MUST GO HERE. The Yelp reviews won't steer you wrong trust me. The entire menu looked incredible so we did the chef special for 2 and the curry, the chicken, the flavors were so on POINT! A true mom&pop place you feel right at home food fresh from the kitchen and the staff was unbelievably kind and attentive. This place is one of the more memorable meals. They let us know they don't have a wok due to the the size of their location (but they're opening up a second location) so don't expect a pad Thai or stir fry's- no less this place has incredible flavors and fresh catches you have to try!!!
google avatar

Tiffany H.

Yelp
I ordered through uber eats. I ordered the khao soi chicken and it was really good! I honestly would order it again in the future. It was plenty flavorful and I encourage people to try this place out! I was surprised at how good it was because the khao soi from where I'm from is soup based but this was more like wet curry noodles.
google avatar

Khai N.

Yelp
This is truly authentic Thai food. Khao Soi is a must try. The restaurant is very small. There's probably enough seating for about 15 people. Service was great. I would highly recommend!!!
google avatar

Yelp
A Thai restaurant in Uptown, we went when it opened on a Sunday morning and it was empty but within the hour it had virtually filled to capacity. Everything was fresh and cooked-to-order. The mango salad appetizer, excellent. On special was an eel dish which was unique, I've never had a large piece eel quite like that (I've always had small pieces in unagi) - it was nicely marinated and flavored - it did take a while though but worth the wait. It came with a spicy rice and a sliced yellow vegetable, ginger and kimchi. The coconut curry with shrimp was light and creamy and had a tinge of heat.

Yelp
Another fantastic lunch at Pomelo NOLA. Determined to try every dish on the menu. SO much delicious flavor! Mii Kew- pork & shrimp wonton with egg noodles, bbq pork, bok choy, chili & peanuts Chicken Massaman curry- chicken thigh , potato, onion, cinnamon, star anise & cardamom Previous review was for : June 3rd - Delicious lunch at Pomelo NOLA , 4113 Magazine Street. Definitely my favorite Thai restaurant in the city. So much flavor in every order. Pok pok noodles, papaya salad with salmon, sweet corn and shrimp salad & a homemade fudge brownie.
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
I saw good things about this place on Yelp and decided to check it out. It COMPLETELY lived up to the hype! I got the Som Tum Platter, and it was one of the best things I tasted on my trip to NOLA. Pomelo will certainly be on my list of must-visit restaurants whenever I come back the city. Also, the service was wonderful, and the restaurant had a cute ambiance. Five stars all around!
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
The food we had was great and they're able to make plates pescatarian if you ask. Glass noodles were delicious. Spicy dumplings were so good I will get that every time I go from now on. The curry was delicious. The serving sizes are not too large so order multiple dishes and share. No liquor license so bring your own.
google avatar

Vince P.

Yelp
Seriously... the only bad thing about this place is that we'll like the location to be a bit bigger. Everything else is perfect!! The owner and staff are generous, authentic, and a great soul; and the vibe of the restaurant matches the owner. So let's get down to business and talk about the food: we ordered plenty of different dishes: Khao Soi, Mii Kiew, & Seafood Glass Noodles. The Seafood Glass Noodle is such a refreshing start to the meal, an appetizer meant to share for the table. I always get a Khao Soi or Chiang Mai to compare between restaurants & Pomelo hits the spot! The Mii Kiew is an egg noodle dish featuring two proteins: shrimp & pork. If you're craving Thai, definitely come through and eat this place up! @phidingthefam
google avatar

Brianne C.

Yelp
I came here for dinner with a friend. It was a pretty busy Saturday night but we managed to get seated quickly and not have to wait for a table. The restaurant is on the smaller side with maybe 10 tables if that! You have to pay and order at the table with a scanned menu (which I am not a fan of scanned menus but there were pictures of each dish). I decided on the Pok Pok noodles which were delicious. It's a glass noodle/soup. And the broth was out of this world. It is a little messy to eat so be prepared but overall, I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back to try some of the other items!
google avatar

Zabrina R.

Yelp
Came in here at 2pm on a Saturday and there was no wait. We went with their two popular dishes, the green curry and the chicken massaman. Both were deliciously seasoned! Coming from someone who can't tolerate spice that well, I thought that the green curry had a decent kick to it, without sacrificing the flavor and consistency of the sauce. It came with pumpkin, corn, other veggies, and a small side of jasmine rice. Same goes for the chicken massaman, which was my personal favorite. It was a milder spiced thigh and drumstick elegantly bathed in warm flavors. MY BIGGEST THING about Thai places is the thickness of their sauce, and Pomelo's was 100% on point. Every bite was heavenly, and the massaman came with potatoes, peanuts, and onion. The ordering system was pretty efficient, you sit at the table and order from a QR code. Even so, the waitress made themselves available and was helpful in offering recommendations. My only request was extra rice, and maybe a bigger table for two, but otherwise this place hits the spot if you are craving a fast but special lunch option.
google avatar

Draia F.

Yelp
OMG... I can't say enough great things about Pomelo! I was walking on Magazine Street and saw a Thai restaurant and was about to go inside until I looked at the Yelp reviews! The reviews were decent, so I decided to look at all the Thai restaurants nearby and saw all the great reviews for Pomelo, which was a 20-minute walk away! It was a beautiful day, so I decided to sit outside, and Judy took great care of me; she was amazing! I cannot express how fresh and delicious the food was! I had the Som Tum Platter, which is a Thai national favorite dish: papaya salad, spicy salmon crudo, BBQ pork, shrimp, and pork rinds! I will definitely be back when I visit again!
google avatar

Esther G.

Yelp
Food was fresh and flavorful! We had the spicy wonton appetizer and the curry noodles with shrimp and Tom Yum Hang noodles - so good!
google avatar

Erin A.

Yelp
Terrific and authentic. The Pok Pok soup was delicious on a cooler day. I plan to return with more people to try more of the menu!
google avatar

Sontaya L.

Yelp
My first time at Pomelo, and it was one of the best places i've tried. The Pok Pok noodles was perfection in a bowl, it was very comforting. Also the salmon tsuke was delicious. Customer service was top tier, the atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic. I will definitely be returning:)
google avatar

Michele N.

Yelp
This is now my favorite Thai Restaurant! It was so good I went twice back to back. Second time around I was able to conversate with Chef Aom and her husband Frankie. Nice folks. Can't forget about chef Judy too! Y'all need to go see this sweet staff and get you some amazing Thai food. I couldn't decide what was my favorite thing to eat there because it was all that good. The space is a little small but we didn't have any issues getting a table with out rsvp. They do have a few front patio tables. Put this place on your list to try if you haven't already. Trust meeee.

nicole g.

Yelp
BEST THAI FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD. CURRY IS THE BOMB DOT COM Extremely friendly staff that helped me figure out what I wanted and try the curries... which was a plus Will definitely come back again.
google avatar

Simon L.

Yelp
The great reviews this place has is really well deserved. The two of us had: - Tom yum soup (4/5) - Amazing, intense flavors paired with several large, delicious shrimp. - Pok pok noodle (4/5) - Sweet and fragrant noodle soup with delicious chunks of fatty pork and large shrimp Service was great, and the place was really casual. My girlfriend thought this was the best Thai food she's ever had, and I'll definitely be visiting again the next time I'm in New Orleans.
google avatar

Nandi A.

Yelp
When I say RUN do not walk to this restaurant! I ordered the chicken patay for an appetizer, the veggie glass noodles and the Salmon Ka Praw. I must admit I didn't have the best expectations for the Chicken Satay because I'm not a fan of peanuts, but the dish was amazing! The perfect combination of flavors and the peanut was not too overwhelming. The Salmon Ka Praw was also outstanding and super fresh, I really love the unique combination of flavors that they incorporate. Be mindful that the dining area is small so reservations are helpful to guarantee a table.
google avatar

Alexander W.

Yelp
This place SLAPS. Mouthwatering food. Friendly proprietors and staff - walked in on Christmas Eve and everyone was so welcoming. Chic decor. Absolutely a must try. Chicken Massaman - fall off the bone tender chicken, fragrant sauce, aesthetically plated Friends loved the vegetarian green curry and pok pok noodles Smaller storefront on Magazine street, probably about 8-10 smaller tables. Some tables out front as well. Seems like you may be able to make reservations, so if able to would definitely recommend that With that being said, they do have a smaller menu, but they have both meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. Moreover, IIRC the menu said something about constantly rotating items. Definitely will be back to try the rest of the items on the menu, and will absolutely be on the lookout for new items to try *** Also it's BYOB***
google avatar

Yelp
Very cute and quiant spot, feels like a mom and pop shop! My top favs were the spicy wonton (we had 2 orders of it) and the seafood yum woon sen(I was hoping to have the big mussels like a prev. review & it couldve had a bit more flavor to it+ removing the giant peanuts it wasnt doing much for the dish). First time having Khao soi and it was good, the broth was so flavorful, but my chicken was a little tough, no biggie. Tom yum is typically sour to me however, this one wasn't so much. I actually really liked how this one had such a good balance of spicy, savory and js a perfect amount of tart. I love having it w a bowl of jasmine rice makes it even more fulfilling. At the end of my meal I got the iced thai latte, it wasn't what I expected.. I probably should've stuck with just getting the thai tea. I gave them a 5 stars based on food but the restroom could use a little more attention.

Candace V.

Yelp
This place is absolutely batting above its weight. Every dish is carefully curated, and the chef was willing and able to accommodate food allergies. The room itself is intimate. We stumbled upon an open table, but you should really make a reservation. We barely got a table, and it was a rainy Christmas Eve. The Salmon appetizer is an explosion of flavor. The Mango salad had perfectly cut and cooked pork medallions. And the Lemon Thai Tea was the most perfectly balanced I've ever had. For once the spices weren't overwhelmed by sugar. New Orleans is not the place I'd think to actively seek out Thai food, but we're definitely coming back when we next visit!
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
Good food and friendly service. Bit small however. Spice level was nice too. I really want go back to check out some other items but what the waitress recommended was spot on
google avatar

Yelp
This meek but bright Magazine gem is getting the buzz it deserves! Go here before it's impossible to get a table! I've been looking to drop in here for awhile after seeing the strong reviews it's received, and to say I wasn't disappointed would be a gross understatement. It's now one of my favorite places in town! The three of us decided to order several things and shared family-style. A great idea if you're in a small group since you're gonna wanna try it all! Everything was so balanced and delicious! Favorites of the table included the spicy wontons, sweet corn and shrimp salad, pok pok noodle, and the chefs special which was a delightful bbq eel (unagi) with a basil rice. If you've never tried Unagi as an entree like this, and it's still on the menu, I recommend you order it without hesitation. We tried the desserts, which included a warm sumptuous brownie and a cheesecake with mango and a passion fruit drizzle. Both were, again, very balanced and executed perfectly! Overall, the service was very warm and professional. We met the chef/owners, Aom and Frankie, striking up various conversations over the course of dinner. The wait staff seemed happy to serve us. We left with full bellies and warm feelings. Don't pass this joint up!

Yelp
Small restaurant on Magazine street. The owners and staff are so nice, talked with us at our table. My mom wasn't feeling the sweetness in a dish and they took it back and prepared something for her ! No issues, great service. My dish was delicious. Definitely will return !
google avatar

Ellie M.

Yelp
I cannot overemphasize the depth of flavors that every single dish this place serves has. Truly some of the best Thai food I've ever had and very authentic. The green curry was the star of our table and the chicken massaman was a very close second. Be sure to pair your meal with a Thai iced tea or Thai lemon iced tea because there's a kick to everything!
google avatar

Kimberly E.

Yelp
Food was AMAZING!! Atmosphere was super cute and intimate. For apps we spicy wanton and the Tom yum soup. For meal, we got Mii Kiew, Pok Pok Noodles, and Green Curry. Everything was so amazing, can't wait to come back. Amazing service.
google avatar

Tyeria E.

Yelp
My friend brought me to Pomelo to try for the first time. The restaurant is small but cosy with very friendly staff. Our waiter took our order - We got spicy wonton, pok pok noodles, and chicken mii kiew! FYI - this restaurant is BYOB so we brought a bottle of wine. After a while, I noticed that the bottle was half gone, we hadn't received our food, and our waitress hadn't been back to check in. We didn't say anything, just kept waiting. When our food finally did come, my order was wrong. The waitress quickly addressed it and the food was really good. I would come back - probably just order for pick up instead.
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
The shrimp in the Mii Kew and the Seafood Glass Noodle Salad are white and have zero flavor. The shrimp should be cooked and pink. These taste like someone defrosted them and threw in the dish without cooking them. The texture is slimy! Awful! However, the roasted pork in the Mango and Pork Salad is very tasty. It's also good in the Mii Kew. I can't even eat the Chicken Massaman. The peanut sauce is so think and rich. It's just too much peanut! A little broth would dilute the sauce and make it palatable. The chicken has zero flavor... blane . A little salt prior to cooking would help.

Yelp
The green curry is perfect. Aligned with how they make in Thailand. We also enjoyed the "spicy" wonton app, they split the spicy dipping sauce with standard so biting my boyfriend and I could enjoy. He also had a noodle dish Mii Kiew that had all bits and surprises including egg noodles, meat and more wontons. Table outside was great in ideal New Orleans weather (Oct). Our hostess was so sweet. If you're looking for quality, casual, affordable food this is it. We will be back!!

Yelp
Good Thai restaurant. Nicely proportioned, delightfully flavored menu items. The Spivey Wonton has a magical dipping sauce. Hot at first, but backs off in a few seconds to an earthy specimens. I've never encountered anything like it. Most hot spices build to a point of self-emoliation, but not at Pomelo. Friendly and helpful service. Relaxed family atmosphere without being noisy. This has become a new favorite lunch spot for me! Near other boutique shops and restaurants. Parking takes persistence, as it is in ann adjacent residential neighborhood. Reviewed a family-run Thai lunch place compared to similar "ethnic" restaurants.

Yelp
I am in LOOOOVE with the Pok Pok. It's spicy-sweet and just delicious. I always get the same dish, dine-in or takeout, so good.
