Pompette

"Located in a lovely suburb is this neat, attractive modern brasserie run by an experienced chef and his welcoming wife. There are a few Mediterranean and North African influences on the menu, but the French basis is clear – as evidenced by classic dishes like fish soup with rouille, Gruyère and croutons. The cooking is honest, unfussy and full of flavour, and there's a good value ‘prix fixe’ on offer too." - Michelin Inspector

"Chef Pascal Wiedemann worked at London institutions Racine and Terroirs before deciding to head to the north Oxford suburb of Summertown with his wife to open a restaurant inspired by French provincial cooking. Arguably the most successful mid-price place currently functioning in the city, it serves up an array of charcuterie, along with mouthwateringly accomplished fish soup and lamb chops. A prix fixe menu at lunchtime brings in a crowd who otherwise might pass this fine place by." - Alexander Larman

A beautiful restaurant with beautiful, helpful and kind staff. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and soft. Music was subtle and elegant. Their menu for a Thursday night was delicious. Their menu is unique and tasty. Drinks were brilliant. Loved the atmosphere, and gentleness from the staff was spectacular, they weren’t in top of you but always there at the right time. Thank you for helping make a beautiful evening with my mom and I. I will be back with my Love for a romantic evening.

We had their 3-course set meal — not only was it awful, but a few hours later, both my friend and I ended up vomiting and feeling sick for a long time. Not sure if it was due to unclean ingredients, but either way, steer clear of this place.

Truly great meal last night. Started with a lovely couple of recommended cocktails, before having delicious croquettes, cheese dip and then mussels, and one of the best lamb chops we’ve ever had. One of the things that was so good was our very helpful and friendly waiter who recommended several dishes, including the lamb which he said ‘was probably even better than the steak’. On a bed of garlicky lentils with anchovy butter-smeared broccoli it was seriously tasty. The treacle tart with sweet wine was pretty divine. Great meal, lovely people and nice buzzy atmosphere

The food was tasty and well-prepared. The service was fine, and our waiter was friendly. However, after our second course, no one offered us another drink or dessert. Unfortunately, for the price, the portions were shockingly small. I appreciate the quality of the ingredients, but this felt excessive. If you're going to serve such small portions at these prices, the service needs to be exceptional because the dishes themselves, while good, were not outstanding—just decent. Overall, the experience doesn't match the cost reflected in the final bill.

The best restaurant in Oxford, one of few we love coming back to. Every single dish we tried was excellent. All the ingredients are fresh and we love that the menu changes with the seasons. A true French experience delivered to the Oxford community!

It’s a beautiful cosy neighbourhood French 🇫🇷 bistro in Summertown area of Oxford. Service is good, decent wine list and prices and has something for everyone from vegetarian/ to fish and classic French dishes like the onglet/ Steak Frites / Cote de Boef etc We tried the Quail as a starter and followed it up with a steak / and lamb as a main. Everything was delicious and good. Well cooked and service was excellent. Had a reasonably priced Bordeaux to go with the food. Overall 5/5 Meal for 2 is 150/- easily with wine For more Oxford and London foodie reviews please check my account on Instagram @s50ush

A posh-looking place that's great for more formal events and special nights out. I had the spatchcocked quail for my appetizer (highly recommend!), sirloin for my main (somehow, I wasn't a fan of the juice covering the steak, but otherwise great), and burnt basque cheesecake (a bit dense and not sweet enough for me, but that's just personal preference). The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, although I should warn that the kitchen is closed from 14:30 until later in the evening, which I was not aware of when I walked in at 14:20. I loved the decor and atmosphere. I'd love to go back and try some of their other dishes.

We had a small wedding breakfast in the private dining room and the waiter looking after us could not have been nicer. The private room is beautifully decorated and had Aircon. 100% would recommend to anyone wanting an intimate and lovely space to host something in Oxford.
