10 Delicious Things to Eat at LA’s Smorgasburg in Downtown | Eater LA

"If there’s a single food thing I recommend to first time visitors of Smorgasburg, it’s Poncho’s Tlayudas: unique charcoal-grilled, folded tlayudas smeared with rich beans and stuffed to the max with stringy Oaxacan cheese, served with housemade morcilla (blood sausage) and tasajo (beef jerky). Crunchy shredded cabbage balances each bite while an intense sauce provides heat and depth, and biting into the snappy grilled blood sausage gives a smoky finish." - Eater Staff

Food was good, everything was hot and ready to serve. Our waitress was kind and attentive.

We always order takeout. Inside is cool though its fun to sit there and drink those frozen margaritas. The to go service is extremely fast and they have great staff. I suggest the green and red chili burritos.

We came back to try Ponchos after a number of years. They've remodeled and it's very inviting atmosphere. You can make reservations specifically for the Cantina/bar area which has live music some nights as well as big screens for sporting events. Tortilla chips were light and crispy served with delicious salsa. Good selection of standard Mexican fare as well as their house specialties. Margarita was decent and beer prices were very good.

Loved this place especially for the price! It's sometimes difficult to find parking but they stay busy for a reason! Wait time for food can be a bit longer than normal when they're busy, but food and service does not disappoint. Had the chimi platter with rice and beans and it was very good! Husband had burger with beef taco and loved it, but also loves their Mexican food as well, especially the green chili burro. Highly recommend this place especially if you like Sonoran style mexican food!

Our meal was very delicious. Although today there was very Bad service. The lady kept walking away from me when I was trying to put our appetizer order in,so all the food came at once. And she didn't give us utensils when our food came. We had to flag her down to bring them and her attitude was just very nonchalant and dismissive, not hospitable at all. My husband even mentioned how maybe we should just leave because she didn't seem too interested in us being there. Anyway here is some photos of our mean to share. If you've never been to ponchos the service is usually great. And the chips and salsa is always something to look forward to when you get there.

Would not recommend, my fajitas were made with teriyaki sauce and meat was dry. Its suppose to a Mexican restaurant not asian. The sampler platter was terrible as well. Tamales all masa and chimichangas sauce was terrible.

One star because zero isn’t an option. I was really looking forward to trying the albondigas soup here, but I was extremely disappointed. For the price, I expected a hearty, flavorful meal—but instead, I got a watered-down broth with barely any meatballs and a few scattered veggies. It felt like a side portion at best, definitely not worth the cost. If you’re considering takeout, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. Totally not the value or quality I was hoping for.

I haven’t been here in years, so I decided to give it a try again. It did not disappoint. Great food is a very good price. I’ll definitely come back. I had a chicken chimichangas with green sauce and sour cream and extra beans. It’s just the way I remembered it. Next time I’m back in South Phoenix in a couple of weeks. I’ll be dropping in again.
