It's in Albert Hawker Centre. Expect a queue at lunch or busy times, but it moves quickly. They do Indonesian food such as soto, gado-gado, satay, that sort of thing. Good portions for the price. Cash or PayNow accepted. Definitely check it out!

Mee rebus was savoury but gravy is light in taste. Gado gado was a big disappointment without much nutty taste and keropok not crispy.

Pondok Makan Indonesia. Right, let’s talk about it — the satay here is unbelievable. I’m not kidding; it’s top-tier stuff. Proper smokey, juicy, melts in your mouth — like they’ve got some kind of wizard back there just grilling magic. I tried another dish as well, don’t ask me what it’s called, but it was decent too. But that satay? Absolute scene-stealer. Honestly, could see myself parked there, couple of bevvies lined up, smashing through sticks of satay like it’s my job. Worth the queue, worth the wait, worth flying to Singapore for if you’re that keen. When I’m back, I’m straight there again, no question.

Lontong Sayur Lodeh (SGD $4) @ Pondok Makan Indonesia. . This stall has been recognised since July 2019 by the Michelin guide, but I've enjoyed their rendition from as early as April 2012. . Their broth is thin yet tasty with earthy savoury sweet spice flavour, with chunky compressed rice cakes that hold softly together with grainy sweet flavour. . The stewed vegetables (cabbage, carrots, string beans, jicama turnip) are soft and chunky too, with pleasant vegetal sweet spice flavour. . A bouncy hard boiled egg with eggy sweet flavour, a spongy tofu bean curd with grainy sweet flavour, and fragrant crumbly toasted grated coconut lending earthy nutty sweet flavour, completes.

First time trying this stall. Ordered mee rebus ($3.50) and gado gado ($4). The mee rebus was served piping hot and tastes excellent. Noodles were perfectly cooked with fragrant savoury sauce. Gado gado was bit disappointing though, ingredients were normal but the sauce was lacking in flavour despite its rich brown colour. Will definitely come back again for it's mee rebus!

Visiting the nearby temple for more than 3 decades, my parents haven't tried the Malay food here until i brought them today. I could only say that they have missed out one of the nicest food here!! Mee Rebus - One of the most affordable and best taste i have ever had! Being a Mee Rebus lover whom have eaten Malay, Chinese, relatives' and own version, i can say that the salty and sweet combi are balanced. At first mouthful, you could already feel like a homely makcik cooking Mee Rebus for you - very comfy taste. Portion suitable for office people, just enough for you to buy an additional afternoon kopi/teh to perk you up. Satay (Chicken/Mutton) - It is hard to find 70 cents/pc satay with meaty sticks in Singapore! (I could only find 90 cents AND with combi of small/tiny chunks of fat and meat per stick) Furthermore, both mutton and chicken meat are soft enough for seniors to bite and chew. My parents like it very much that there is no gamey taste for mutton. The kakaks are very friendly and helpful - they will help to serve the satay plate/other orders to our table without going for second trip. Definitely would come back again for many rounds and other varieties!!

Always here for their tahu goreng signature dish. Great for vegans and diners on a low-carb diet. I purchased the Mee Soto for my family members though they didn't like it as much as the recipe was somewhat different from those found in other states such as Melaka.

Yelp
Came by for some satay the other day and it was a mediocre experience, despite being featured in the Michelin guide. Satays were 70 cents each with a 10 skewer minimum. Pondok Makan is located inside the Albert Centre. Ordered a variety of skewers including chicken, mutton, and beef. After paying, the staff brought out the skewers to my table after a short while. The skewers itself were mediocre. They didn't have sufficient char and were on the drier and leaner side. I was looking for a fattier and charred version...bummer. The satay sauce was good though.

Yelp
Pondok Makan Indonesia 270 Queen Street, #01-123 Albert Centre Market & Food Market It's in the 2018 Michelin Bib Gourmand List. Had the mutton satay which was highly recommended. Think only those who like their satays fatty will like it. I didn't. It's okay but not great. I'm sure I have tasted better. As for the tauhu goreng, the tauhu was fine and soft but the gravy with peanuts was more liquid than I would have liked and a tad sweet. Not a long queue at 11.45 a.m. I'm a bit wary of Michelin Bib Gourmand recommendations. Ann Chin Handmade Popiah is on the list too but customers are not stupid. No queue at all at Coronation Plaza despite a huge advertisement on the ground floor. Cozy Corner is packed with people everyday queuing for their popiahs. Giving it 4-stars more for the tauhu goreng.
