Love coming here a quick bite! Great prices. I always grab a slice of pizza. Always delicious. 😋

It was so hot today, we wanted something light and cool to eat before we came up the mountain. What a neat place in town! The patio in the back is a refreshing get-away in the city! The pita plates and ice tea hit the spot. The food and service were great!

Google
Iconic downtown eatery and bookstore. Great menu with a good variety of options with multiple choices for individuals looking for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. A variety of daily soups as well but honesty I’ve never ventured from my first meal there years ago which was the #1 pizza special with a 3-topping slice of your choice, a top notch house salad and a drink. It’s consistently amazing! Also theres a hidden patio in the back when its nice out!

Google
Best meal I've had in a while. Best pizza in colorado springs hands down. The side salad is banging as well. Most highly recommend 👌

Google
Charming spot with tasty food. Be warned the pizza slices are like 1/4 of a pizza lol. I ate both of mine but didn't know what was coming my way! The food was good AND there is a coffee shop and book store attached so after all that pizza go grab a coffee lol. Recommend this place if you're in the downtown area.

Google
The house salad was the best item on the menu we tried. The pizza was nicely done. I had a Ruben sandwich, they were out of the marble rye, so I chose the wheat bread, it was just ok. Not enough meat or thousand island dressing. Big place books, puzzles, jewelry, greeting cards like ten flavors of tea, and baked goods that we did not try. I had the hibiscus tea and it was delicious. No sweetener but still satisfying.

We stopped in on a Sunday after enjoying the day walking around the downtown area. We ordered 3 large pies, a large salad with chicken, and 6 six drinks. Our total came out to about 150 bucks. It was pretty pricey, even though one of the pies was part of a family deal. My husband didn't care much for the pizza. He said it lacked sauce, but the kids liked it, and I can see that the cheese was very fresh. The salad was very big and filling with lots of veggies, but the chicken did lack a little flavor. Overall, the service was good and the food was ok.

I've never been in a store (all three book store, Cafe and toy store) that had so much negative energy. The heaviness of it was a little to much. On top of that, I was in the book store for 20 minutes before anyone spoke to me. Yes, I still wanted to look around, I just prayed as I did so. The cafe was full of folks with most tables occupied with singles on their laptops. The toy store was full of people making the tiny space very claustrophobic. The female employee was very loud and a little bit obnoxious. I finally left and sat outside to get some much needed fresh air. When a business carries so much negative material, and the customers are buying into it and bringing their negative energy, it will accumulate making it very uncomfortable for those who have a positive energy. Customers who enjoy this place and this small business, carry on. I will not be one of them and don't recommend it. I understand businesses want and need to cater to the public in order to keep it's doors open but like I said the negative energy in this place is just to much.

Yelp
If you're looking for good pizza with some healthy options, this is the place to go. They also have sandwiches and soups. Great place with healthy options. They also have a gift shop where you can walk off your meal right next door and ice cream place right across if you want some dessert.

Bailey A.

Yelp
Poor Richard's has such a huge menu - you can bring anyone here and they will find something to choose. My favorite is their deals on pizza because you get this huge slice it's basically like two slices! I also ordered an Italian soda today, which you pick up in the cafe/bar area (Rico's). They also have a wine bar there and tons of events and live music. The four businesses of Poor Richard's are all connected, so I like to order my food, then walk around the toy store and book shop while I wait. However I'm here all the time because I get all my gifts at the book store! (See bookstore review) The staff is so friendly and helpful. I know three of them now because I see them so much!

Felicia T.

Yelp
Neat restaurant/bookstore! We came for a late lunch on 4th of July and didn't realize they were closing early. However, the staff were super friendly and let us stay to finish our food. We never felt rushed or unwanted. They have a nice little play area in the back that the kids loved. My husband and I shared a BBQ or Bust pizza- it was HUGE! Wow!! Our son had a single slice of cheese which was plenty, the side salad was yummy, too! Wish we had come earlier to check out the bookshop...we'll have to come back next time we're in CO.

Therese S.

Yelp
I love Poor Richard's, but I have one recommendation, the coffee is very weak. Just get a better quality coffee, like hold fast or building 3 roast.

Sophia G.

Yelp
Pretty good place. There are quite a few vegan options. The lady at the register seemed well versed on allergies and what the food here contains. I have a family of various different allergies in each person and she was able to answer all of our questions easily. The customer service is absolutely amazing. The whole pizza is big. Two slices was enough for me. So we even have pizza to go. Parking is all metered. And there's a toy store connected to the store itself. It's a nice place to grab a bite especially if there's different dietary restrictions.

Gabrielle B.

Yelp
This restaurant is connected to the coffee shop, bookstore and toy store (you could spend hours at all of the stores!). I like that there's a variety of vegan/vegetarian options here, even the pizza. You're able to build your own slice which is practically unheard of! I did a salad and slice combo, which yielded me a free house wine for spending over $10. I got light cheese, mushroom, olives and bell peppers on my pizza and it was really good! Honestly not the best slice I've ever had, but tasty, good crust (medium thickness, not floppy) and personalized. The salad was unique in that it had green beans, chickpeas and other less common salad veggies. I got the vegan sesame dressing and tbh it was pretty flavorless. I tried a bite of a salad that had balsamic and that was very good so get that one! The ambiance out on the patio is amazing. It looks like a cute Italian villa with murals and flowers. This is a great place to dine in esp outside. The guy helping us was super nice and helpful as well. I can't wait to try more items in the future.

Shannon C.

Yelp
The bookstore is really cool and they have a great patio out back which is very secluded and peaceful! Lots of shade even in the summer months. However, I have never liked their food. Everything I've had here has been bland and really unremarkable.

D D.

Yelp
Very neat place. Just not impressed with the who LGBTQ thing. Food was fair. I got the Ruben sandwich. For the cost of the sandwich, there was not near enough meat. Much potential, but I won't be going back. Just not worth the high cost. Ambiance is very cool, but as I said. Not into the LGBTQ thing that is certainly displayed. Service was fair. Nice employees but there is not much service to it.

Elliott B.

Yelp
That might have been the worst food I've ever eaten in my entire life. The food was TERRIBLE. The pizza was disgusting, the pizza tasted fake, and my chicken pita had genuine frozen chicken. Terrible.

Dan V.

Yelp
Love the outdoor seating and the ambiance inside was welcoming. Great service by our cooks and order taker. They made sure we were comfortable and asked if we needed anything else. The food was delicious also!!! Made to order, custom pizza slices and fresh salads...good stuff!

Diana C.

Yelp
First off this is for the vegan cheese pizza. Pizza was thin but thick crust. (Which I like). Pizza was pretty good, as they put the mushrooms under the cheese. (Small pieces of pepperoni). Service was quick and the workers are nice. This place is pretty cute as it is connected to all the stores next to it. So it kind of confused us when looking for the place. Whoever put a toy store connected to this place..... Smart move, my son was super happy

Scott L.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite here while visiting from out of town and it was just the ticket for us - fast service, well made, tasty food and generous-sized portions. Gluten Free Pizza was delicious and the modestly named "House Salad" was so much more than it's name suggested - lots of variety on the ingredients and crispy veggies and attractively presented -- all very well done and would definitely stop in for a return visit!

Barb D.

Yelp
First time Yelp reviewer and first time Poor Richards eater. Today (3/21/22) I ordered a take out rice bowl...smelled good, even tasted good...and then much to my dismay, a LONGish human hair in my rice bowl! let me say, that when my 54 yr old eyes can see it, you know it's bad!! Very poor Richard...one and done here.

Stephen B.

Yelp
Unique options that are worth trying. Great place to bring kids, where they can play before and after a meal.

Colin A.

Yelp
This might be the second worst food I've ever had. Congratulations on the silver medal IG. Steer far away.

Happy Vegan T.

Yelp
They have quite a few vegan options, which was really nice. I got a vegan southwest bowl that had impossible meat in it. When I got it there was no impossible in it. When I asked about it, the woman who helped me was so kind and helpful. She offered to get me something else. She gave me lots of choices. I ended up with the curry lentil soup and a salad. She made it and brought it out. It was one of the best experiences I've had when I've had a problem with my food.

Tracey B.

Yelp
Came here as they are allergy friendly. First time visiting and had a great experience. They have this awesome "hidden garden" in the back that is so peaceful and relaxing with flowing water into a little garden pool, and it connects to a bookstore....who doesn't love walking around a bookstore?!?! Food was great, prices fair to the food and area, and service was great!

Don T.

Yelp
What a great place to meet and socialize! A restaurant, a book store, a bar, a toy store and a coffee house. Plus it has events such as live music, (board) game night, open mic... I'm sure there's more. It's one of those places that has all the elements that make it a great place to go to unwind (the bar), to jump start the senses (the coffee house), to recharge your energy (the restaurant) or just to feel good (the toy store). The staff is great! They treat you like a loyal customer even if it's your first visit because they seem genuinely happy to be there! I can't say enough about Poor Richards Read and Feed! If you happen to be in "The Springs", it's worth the trip to downtown. Great menu with healthy, light and vegetarian choices. The hot drinks what you'd expect from specialty house and libations are micro brew qualityThe only drawback is parking. It's typical urban diagonal metered street parking. At least the parking is free on Sundays!

Ryan S.

Yelp
SO GOOD. Quick, tasty, fun, you name it. The chicken salad sandwich was phenomenal, the chicken soup was amazing, generous amounts of chicken. The house salad was big. The Richards Pistrami Reuben was out of this world. Devine. Would 100% recommend. Service was great and the ambiance was immaculate. Such a cool spot. Loved it.

Robin S.

Yelp
My only regret is that I discovered this restaurant and shop area on my last night in Colorado Srings! I was really wanting a veggie style burger and was not disappointed. The price, super friendly staff, environment and food were beyond AMAZING with zero complaints. You are also able to walk through to a coffee shop and a book shop (toy shop was closed) that is all connected. Do not pass up walking around the book shop since I am sure that everyone in your group will find some sort of trinket or book that they will want to purchase.

David P.

Yelp
Friendly staff, wait time was low and food was tasty but... the portion sizes are just too small for what they are charging. In this town, an $11.50 sandwich should be sizable, more pastrami on the Reuben... for around $15 with a tip, I shouldn't already be thinking about my next meal.

Jocelyn M.

Yelp
Turkey and cheese sandwich was very good as well as the chicken noodle soup. The focaccia bread was so good. Friendly stuff and quick service

Velnette J.

Yelp
Loveee poor Richards! Not being able to eat gluten is hard sometimes, but it's places like this that make it so much better! There are plenty of options for seating inside, in the coffee shop, out front and on the back patio! Inside is quaint and relaxing with many options to choose from. I love the back patio in the summer it is so beautiful! The used books section is such an awesome place to find good books! I love the soup bar and gf pizza here! I ordered some pumpkin soup and cheese pizza this visit. I love the new big menu! There are also vegan options as well!! Definitely a place to make everyone happy!

Jose B.

Yelp
We had a couple of Reubens and they were delicious. I would recommend to all my friends. The coleslaw was also fresh and tasty.

Varden L.

Yelp
Great little set of 3 divided stores all linked by corridors. Not only is there a little restaurant to get your grub on but it also offers a little toy story and a quaint bookstore for your reading needs and purchases. Parking can be a bit tricky at least this afternoon but not too much trouble if you circle the block a bit. Another very nice feature is the free WiFi offered. As for food I ordered the Swiss black bean burger with red onions lettuce and bell peppers which was really good. It came with either chips and salsa or coleslaw and I got coke. The total price was around 13 for a solid lunch which I'm happy about. The only negative I have to say about the food was the salsa had a strange tang to it not horrible was a just off from what I'm used for to. But it's a slight misstep and I won't fault it m too much for it. I like this place a lot and will be back for multiple reasons!!

Erica R.

Yelp
Love, love, love this place! It's like they took all of my favorite things (coffee + books + wine + good food + toys) and made this place just for me. I was so happy to stumble upon Poor Richard's! The bookstore is a lot bigger than it looked from the outside. I really enjoyed looking at all of the knick-knacks they sell as well. I could have stayed all day but I only had an hour on my meter so I will have to go back when I can stay even longer because this place is so great! Next to the bookstore is the restaurant part. I ordered their vegan tofu and veggie bowl with the ginger sauce and it was super good! Everything was fresh and the sauce was super tasty! I also ordered a glass of prosecco which was super refreshing and was a great deal! I got my own little bottle and it almost felt like two glasses in one. I opted to sit outside on their beautiful patio. It was hot but I didn't care because it felt like being in Europe - it is so nice! I cannot wait to come back!

Zach T.

Yelp
I ordered the Tofu & Veggies plate for pickup on my lunch break and I am disappointed enough to take a break from work to write this review. I hate to be so harsh, it's nothing more than a small bowl of rice with a side of peanut sauce. It's not an exaggeration when I say there was one slice of zucchini, two pieces of broccoli, trace amounts of crumbled tofu, and three carrot slices. All this for $10.

Otto K.

Yelp
i had the Reuben absolutely delicious great service-Richard was busing tables!

Misshelle B.

Yelp
Nice place if you are looking for sandwiches , salads and soup. They offer vegan options. They also have bakery with gluten free options as well. I had the lentil soup that comes with bread. I will definitely come back

Lisa K.

Yelp
This is a very casual place serving good NY style pizza. The crust is thin and crisp and not too much cheese, although I wouldn't mind a tiny bit more sauce. They also have lots of toppings to add to your slice. Some very standard and some very unique (avocado!). The house salad is really good with a variety of veggies, homemade dressing and a little feta. There is a also build your own salads, sandwiches, veggie burgers, soups and some yummy looking homemade cookies. The meal deals are a nice value, for the price. Kind of worth it, since 1 slice with a few toppings is just shy of $7. It's a great place to stop in for a slice on your own or to meet a friend. The patio will be great come summer. Service can be a little slow. I've waited well over 15 minutes for a slice to-go. So, maybe call ahead or throw an extra quarter in the meter...

Laura W.

Yelp
Wonderful little restaurant with lots of charm. Walk from the main restaurant to a coffee shop, to a lovely little toy shop, into a coffee shop and a great gift shop. We have missed the restaurant being open and are so excited it's back open for business! Great for all ages! Our very picky kids love to come here and eat and play in the back area! Food is always good and fresh!

Stacey C.

Yelp
Had a great lunch and had plenty of time to wander around the toy store while waiting.

Casey A.

Yelp
Not much to say other than poor service, poor quality food and over priced. Not worth it.

Hailey C.

Yelp
Great food!! The "you pick two" is a great deal and the chicken soup rocks! Plus, they have a ton of sustainability efforts!

Erica S.

Yelp
Fantastic pizza, and overall awesome ambiance! I came here on a whim while I was on a road trip back to NM over Memorial Day weekend. I was looking for some high quality sandwiches and locally made food to eat on the road so that I didn't have to eat any yucky fastfood, and this was just the right place. I love how they can customize just a single slice of pizza, so I got a chicken, pesto, garlic slice meal which accompanied a fantastic salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese, olives, and a creamy vinaigrette. The pizza was superb and on point. It wasn't to greasy, and was a very generous, but decent sized portion that didn't keep you hungry or make you to full.

Stephanie A.

Yelp
I've been going to Poor Richards for almost 30 years. The service and food has declined so severely that we compared our pizza tonight to gas station pizza. COVID took its toll and this restaurant has never recovered. The cool hip vibe has been replaced by a sterile lifeless environment with subpar food and service. This is heartbreaking but I will no longer be a patron of Poor Richards.

Sullivan I.

Yelp
Fabulous and 100% customizable pizza by-the-slice! Super crispy crunchy crust and a huge list of toppings to choose from. They have a few different meal deal combos so it's fairly economical as well. At a guess, it seems they pre-bake the crust in batches, then build your slices the way you want and finish baking. As someone who loves the crunch of thin crust pizza but hates having to fold it because it's too floppy only to then have all the toppings squish out, this thicker-but-still-crunchy variety was perfect! It's a counter order place and then they bring your food to the table (except the soup is self-served.) They only have two sizes of whole pizzas, and the smaller is only available in gluten-free, but honestly the pieces are so big that the 2 or 3 slice deal is probably enough for most people, and then you don't have to argue with your party about toppings. [visited 4/23/18]

Kristine S.

Yelp
This is an interesting place, 4 stores under one roof. We wanted a place to sit outside and have coffee so we tried this place I had read about. 3 outside areas in front and a really nice patio in the back. We took our coffee and

Bill L.

Yelp
This is our first time here and love everything. Everyone is nice even the owner greeted us and was helpful. We will keep this on the radar and come back again. Thank you Poor Richard's the food is great. Bill

Kyle R.

Yelp
The pizza was very good and the outdoor seating area was very nice, however the short haired lady at the counter was rude from the get go. She had a bad attitude even though we were just ordering food. She rudely demanded that I put on a mask when exiting, shouting across the restaurant loudly "masks are required inside!" Instead of asking politely (I had taken it off when eating and forgot to put it back on.) Other people are eating inside with no masks on obviously! I was literally just exiting the restaurant. While the food was great and good ambiance, I can get good pizza where the staff is more friendly.

Julie R.

Yelp
Excellent healthy food!! I love this restaurant! I highly recommend to anyone who wants high quality healthy food.

Sarah H.

Yelp
We enjoyed our lunch here while visiting Colorado Springs and had a positive experience. It was terrific to have a made-to-order slice without committing to a whole pizza. However, if you're in a rush, you may want to find another stop. Each slice is prepared and baked as you order so it took about 30 minutes to get our food (it was a Saturday afternoon). Pizza was tasty but certainly not the best I've ever had or anything spectacular beyond the wide variety of fresh toppings. Would visit again.

Salleen S.

Yelp
Food is average prices, atmosphere is top of the line, and the quality of their food and drinks is quite a lot better than most places! I highly recommend this coffeeshop/cafe and gift/bookstore for the divergent foods, drinks, high quality of customer service the baristas give each customer, and the high quality ingredients used in both the food and drinks prepared!

Peggy H.

Yelp
We came here for 1st time because we were looking for a gluten free pizzaria. It was good and they even had anchovies. The rest of the family had a huge pepperoni pizza! They liked it. My chai tea was perfect and they even had honey. The play area with a castle, books and toys is just amazing. After we ate we went to the toy store. Amazing!!!!! The coffee shop had live music playing! Great ambient! Staff super nice and friendly. The facility was clean, toilets too! We will be back. Waiting to see if there was a cross contamination.

Scooter C.

Yelp
This restaurant is everything I was looking for! Vegan, clearly marked "no pets sign" and gluten free beer. You make me happy

Amanda S.

Yelp
Pretty good food and coffee, relaxing atmosphere. Friendly wait staff. It's part bookstore, part toy shop. There's a little cafe area on the inside where you can order food.

Ashley W.

Yelp
Always 5 stars. Never a bad experience. Food is always amazing don't mind driving a half hour for it! My favorite place ever!

Natalie Y.

Yelp
This has been one of my favorite haunts for the last 6 years. Everything is consistently good. Sometimes you'll see Richard - the owner - waiting tables and walking around in an apron. This is the best adult and family-friendly place in town. I always recommend it.

Joey B.

Yelp
I love Poor Richards. I've only recently moved to the springs, but between the live music and the quality of the food/drinks, I haven't found a better spot. I always come here to do work, because the atmosphere is exciting, and lively, but tame enough for me to focus. Not to mention they have a full book store, gift shop (for when I need art materials), a restaurant, a toy store, AND a cafe/bar area. Try their Dirty Chai, and the Vegan Paleo Snickerdoodles. They're fantastic. I also love their gluten-free pizza options!!! Poor Richard's gets..... 5 stars because this is my go-to spot in downtown! Check it out for yourself!
