Pop Up Pizza New Mural Pizzas | Eater Vegas

"One of the first gourmet pizza restaurants in Downtown Las Vegas recently received a Brooklyn-influenced mural titled “The New Style” by Derek Douglas (SNIPT), inspired by a Beastie Boys track from Licensed to Ill, and added a renovated seating area as part of a rebranding. Chef Michael Vakneen, who will compete next month in the U.S. Caputo Cup national pizza competition with his new Old School Cheese, revamped the menu; the Old School Cheese pays tribute to New York brick-oven pies with shredded mozzarella and provolone, homemade plum tomato sauce, fresh Aiello mozzarella, Sicilian oregano, Genovese basil, and grated Italian Parmesan. Five other new pies include the Suprema (spicy Italian sausage, Ezzo pepperoni, hot capicola, roasted mushrooms, and red bell peppers); Mike’s Hot Pepperoni (onion-and-garlic cream sauce, freshly shredded cheese, Ezzo pepperoni, finished with a drizzle of Mike’s Hot Honey from Brooklyn); a creamy white pie of onion, spinach, and mushroom on a garlic-and-onion cream base; and a Detroit Special made with a 13-hour proofed dough that yields a crunchy, parmesan-like cheese crust and a soft, pillow-like interior, with toppings that vary daily. Reviewers praise the use of fresh ingredients, homemade tomato sauce, and a perfectly baked crust that make the pizzas worth every bite." - Susan Stapleton

Little lacking in the atmosphere, but makes up for it in service and food. All the staff I have encountered have been friendly, polite, and accommodating. During our 14-day stay, we visited Pop Up numerous times. The pizza is larger than usual, and the veggie pizza is deep dish style. Just realized that they offer 3 varieties of hand dipped ice cream.

Had just checked in and needed to get something as dinner was going to be later. It was later afternoon. Very happy with the pizza and fries. When ordering, we were offered a combo to save a few bucks. It’s Vegas, much appreciated. Great place to grab a slice.

Edit! New review: I had to take a star away. We liked this place so much we went again and ordered a NY pizza with pepperoni mushrooms and spinach and a drizzle of hot honey at a respectable 1am ish time. We waited in line for about 10 minutes, got to the front to find a little card that said cash only. No other visible signs or communication from the staff. Had to leave to go to an ATM and then get back in line. LATE NIGHT CREW does not put the same love in making the pizza... This pizza we had was wet, soggy, falling apart when picking it up, the tip was like raw dough. Flavors were there but it was pizza soup... Not executed correctly. I get it, It's kind of late, busy, you get a bunch of drunk people... But we were patient and we had just had this place at 3pm and loved it so much, we wanted it again 10 hours later. The afternoon, gentleman Hector, He made a pizza I will leave Vegas thinking about and missing. The pizza we had 1am will be a big sigh of disappointment. So the flavor is wow, but depending on the time of day, I can't say you're going to get a great pizza, or a soggy soup with crust. My original review: Inside the Plaza by the parking lot. The Best New York pizza I've had in a long time. Including even from NY We ate a pepperoni mushroom New York style with mushrooms and hot honey. The guy who made it, made it with love. About 20 min wait for a whole fresh pie. Oh and we got fries and fried pickles. So fresh and hot. And the ranch was delicious too! Highly suggest if you like NY style pizza.

Went today for a quick slice to go. Pizza was so thin and seemed undercooked. It literally folded on top of itself. Cashier didn’t even acknowledge me, she was so busy holding a conversation with previous customer that she didn’t ask me to sign my receipt. Then yelled at me to come sign from across the room. If she would have been paying attention, this wouldn’t have been my experience. Most of all. LOOK AT THIS SLICE. WHAT A WASTE OF INGREDIENTS AND MONEY.

Pizza was good. Service is messed up. First of all - it takes more than 10 minutes to just warm up slice of pizza! We ordered Vegan pizza, and they placed it into the same box with chicken wings scattered all over this slice of Vegan pizza. When we asked to replace slice of pizza, they were super dramatic about it.

Had friends who recommended this place so I went to go check it out. I got three different slices of pizza with garlic knots. For a pizza place in Las Vegas, it’s cheap and it’s really good pizza. I would recommend someone, especially the garlic knots. Plus the crew that was working there when I went in were really chill.

I ordered a veggies slice that "looked" good to the eye, but was under-cooked. I had to throw out 1/2 of the slice. The garlic knots were a great size and worth the price and the marinara was decent, but the knots needed MORE of a garlic taste. Most of the staff acted like we customers were doing us the favor, by providing service.. I didn't even receive the customary, "Have a nice day. " I couldn't return my food because I ordered it "TO-GO". I believe there is potential there, but they need to tweak some things. Prices are very fair.

Great little spot on the corner of the casino right near the door going out onto Main Street - I come in here all the time, it's a more affordable pizza spot than some of the other 'flashier' options like Pizza Rock and Evel Pie. The pros are the pizza, they have a selection of different pies that are always being made fresh - the location, right on Main Street makes it super easy to get in and out, there is never as much traffic as the other pizza places on Fremont or Ogden. Open super late, 2 AM on weekends - get Mike's hot pep, or just grab a regular slice and ask them to add a 'Mike's Hot Honey Drizzle'. Awesome!
