Pop's Italian Beef & Sausage

Classic, Chicago beef sandwich shop. Small and bustling. Got a beef sandwich with red sauce, sweet peppers and provolone --WET-- to go. Sandwich was bussing. It was wet and definitely needed to be eaten with fork and knife. The bread was barely together and it reminded me of a soup almost, like the bread texture in a French onion soup. SUPER TASTY! I am 5'3" and ate a whole 6" --and it was a little too much food. I probably could have done well with 4in if they had that option. We waited for maybe 10-15min for our order. It was Sunday around 2pm.

Had the beef and sausage combo meal. This location on Kedzie is slowly going downhill. The bread is soft, and not crusty like it should be, and fall apart. The red sauce is to pasty, and has a dull flavor. Fries are still good. Place is getting dirty and run down, not being kept up, or cleaned.

I have been coming here for many years. I always loved the beef, unfortunately I've had 2 bad experiences in a row. Normally I'd call a place and give them a chance to make it right if there's an issue. Well, I did but it never rang. Phone was off. Anyhow, a few weeks ago I came and got a super beef with provolone cheese. The cheese was old and smelled so bad ... I tried scraping it off but still ended up throwing half the sandwich in the garbage. I called and explained the situation to the girl who answered, telling her the provolone had started turning nasty and they should throw it out. She said sorry about that. No offer to make it right. I let it go. Went back yesterday, ordered another super beef... Ordered with whatever the most popular cheese was (knowing that would be mozzarella) I then added sweet peppers. I drove home and opened up a drenched beef. (Didn't ask for dipped but that would've been okay) There were no peppers and the bread had red sauce on it. I have recently been diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer. I cannot eat pizza or anything with red acidic sauce. I didn't get what I paid for again. I wasn't going to drive up there since I was short on time and "I'm sorry" wasn't going to make me happy. There's plenty of other places nearby for a good beef where they give a damn. It's a shame because they used to be fantastic. Not paying almost $14 for a sandwich that's not made right.

Always looking for a local spot and this was a great find so many menu items didn’t know what to choose- friendly staff suggested the beef sandwich and it was delicious juicy and a lot of food - large fries was LARGE I definitely recommend

This is the second time in a row that pops on kedzie messed up my order. The first time it happened I called them and the girl i spoke with told me to bring it in but they would have to charge me extra. Extra for what? They messed the order up. Second time was last night. I ordered the beef, wet with red sauce. Where's the red sauce? Literally none. Wet? Umm, nope! I'll be going somewhere else.

I had to come back and change my review. Although I previously gave this place a 5 start rating, they've since changed their crew as well as their prices. Neither are helping bring in new customers or keeping regulars. By the looks of these review I am not the only one noticing the quality of this place diminishing. My usual order has more than doubled in price withing the last year with the portions getting much smaller.

The food here is unparalleled. It's a quick stop in- super limited seating / no public restroom, but the food makes up for it. Order ahead if you're in a rush.

First time going there and it definitely was a plus and We must go back there as many time's as possible We ♥ their Super Italian Beef Sandwiches one of the best in Chicago Illinois and Ik they're definitely on the first top 10 best restaurants in Chicago Illinois so delicious I'm hungry now for one 😂 👀 ♥!!!!!
