Popston’s Popsicle Storefront Offers Doughnut-Flavored Frozen Treats in Houston’s East End - Eater Houston

"Popston, Delgado’s Houston-born popsicle, and gelato company, officially opened at 3401 Harrisburg Boulevard on Saturday, July 23 in the Plant, East End’s mixed-use development hub. The 1,000-square-foot retail space, or what Delgado refers to as his “popsicle factory,” features a colorful walk-up window for customers to purchase their popsicles, which come in rotating flavors for anywhere between $2.50 and $7 each. Seasonal favorites include pistachio and rosewater, while guests can expect mangonada Tajín, fresh watermelon, passion guava mango, orange-salted lemonade, and blueberry mojito year-round. Google
I wanted ice cream, and I also wanted something sweet, light and refreshing on an 87° April day in Houston. So, I found Popston on Google maps and decided to give it a try. Arrived and had a chat with the owner and settled on a fruit popsicle, the multiflavored best seller for the last two years. I enjoyed the flavor and the freshness. Sad, it was over so soon. I'm also pleased they had dairy & nondairy (fruit) options. A great first date spot with seating outside (a small rustic wooden picnic bench) and two bright yellow (chrome) metal tables w chairs. It was the refreshing dessert I didn't know I needed, but wanted more of. While my popsicle reminded me of the red, white and blue bomb popsicles we all grew up on, this on wasn't as sugary sweet as that one, definitely smaller, but artisan crafted. So, I highly recommend Popston as a dessert date spot. They also have a 10-pack for families for $15. Great healthy sweetness for Houston blazing summers.

Google
We found this little spot when we came back to the area to visit family. Love this place!! They have a variety of flavors to choose from. The man serving us was very kind and helpful! Ice cream was a 10 out of 10!! Must try. 💕

Google
We just happened to drive down Harrisburg on the way to the taqueria and saw this place and decided to come back later for dessert. We're so glad we did. My friend tried the Mexican Banana Foster and I tried the Toasted Marshmallow. Both items were fantastic. The Toasted Marshmallow was not too sweet. It had a subtle hint of marshmallow, but the flavor was delicious. This is a nice shop with plenty of unique flavors. I plan to return in the future.

Google
The place is fully outside, but they have tables with some shade. The popsicles are delicious and creamy. I had the Oreo and peanut butter one and it was devoured in like 5 minutes. Can’t wait to try other flavors.

Google

Google
This place is a gem! They have everything. Paletas and ice cream, both classic and new flavors. The service is great and the prices are unbeatable.

Google

Yelp
Folks are super nice. First time here and they recommended which ice cream to try. They have sorbet & gelato. So I got the Rodeo Clown (sorbet: strawberry, lemon, mango, pineapple, guanavana (?) and the berry cheesecake gelato pop. They were delicious and not as sweet as I thought. So soft and just the perfect size.

Yelp
Because I'm never too old to enjoy a popsicle. On a stroll through the second ward my cousin and I stopped by and grabbed a treat. Love the art work on the building as it stands out with all the vibrant colors. Service was great and our attendant was very helpful. The menu consists of both gelato and sorbet pops. Today I tried the blueberry mojito and I was in love. You can tell they use only fresh ingredients that you can taste in every bite. The popsicle was refreshing and if it were a much hotter day I'd definitely grab two. If popston doesn't already, please sell by the box. The community needs these delicious items in store.

Yelp
This place is nestled in a busy st in second waqdi. You have to find Street parking. There's no indoor seating, only outdoor. We walked up to the order window and had to knock several times as no one was manning the front window. They should have a doorbell or something. We finally got someone's attention, had it been easier I would've given 5 stars. Staff was friendly. The strawberry cheesecake was good but the Mexican bananas foster will have me Dreaming about it until I get another. It was so creamy and deliscious with a cookie in the center and small chunks of chocolate. I will definitely return to try more flavors!

Yelp
OMG I went to this place twice in two consecutive nights and it's sooooo good. There are lots of flavors, fruity and nonfruity. Each popsicle is $5 which is fairly priced. No inside seating but a couple big tables outside in a really cute block of restaurants and shops.

Yelp
I have tried Popston before when they were just selling it from their little cart at a park. I was happy when they opened their brick and mortar. Their popsicles are still delicious just like how I remember it. I got the Passion Fruit Guava Popsicle which was apparently a popular option for customers. It was dairy-free, light, refreshing, and perfect for the 100 degree Houston weather. They have gelato pops and popsicles for dogs. They also sell ice cream pints. The popsicle was delicious and I would definitely go back but I'm docking 1 star just because it was $5/popsicle and for me it was expensive but also understandable because it's gourmet popsicle in East Downtown Houston. When you arrive to the place, you can park next to the plant store. My husband and I were not able to go inside the store but they have a walk up window where you order and they have chairs outside with umbrellas if you want to stay and hang out.

Yelp
It's great to see paletas get the love they deserve. One of my favorite childhood memories is eating paletas in Mexico This place not only offers your staple mexican paletas but also other flavors that you always thought should exist. There were so many delicious sounding options, the hardest part was just choosing 1. This may not be your traditional Mexican paleta but the modern twist is definitely still a win!

Yelp
Popston is the place to go to beat the Houston heat! Treat yourself to dairy-free or dairy rich. The flavors are what they say they are. You can go back every day and never run out of goodness to try! Service is quick and friendly! There are plenty of umbrella-covered tables on the patio next to the stand. This place does Second ward proud!

Yelp
This delicious place never disappoints. I found them on instagram, visited their location and immediately fell in love. I have taken in-town AND out-of-town friends to this location. Just today I took my work buddies. The people are incredibly friendly. The treats are so fresh and always hit the spot. The locations is easy to get to by car or train and of course walking. Parking is easy and FREE. Highly recommend and obviously will be back.

Yelp
I love these popsicles. They even have a pupsicles for your doggo. They have so many options for so many type of diets, from gelato pops to dairy free sorbet pops, there is something for nearly everyone. They also have gelato and pops to go, so you can enjoy the pops again or later!

Yelp
They have Dog popsicles available it's has peanut butter, yogurt, and local honey. There's mixture between Italian and Mexican, like imagine a paleta but also creamy like gelato A lot of natural ingredients are used, and the sorbets taste pretty damn good for non dairy products. They have strawberry lemonade that is FULL of flavor. A lot of local businesses are incorporated into the ice cream like they made a Buc-ee's and flying saucer pie. A small local business that likes to collab with a lot of local artist. He started pushing carts at the museum district. They have a window with menu outside, right next to how to survive. Beautiful outdoor area with mural. Outdoor seating available with canopy, you can also sit inside of how to survive. They have pints for sale inside of Little Red box grocery, popular flavors are: rodeo clown, Mexican banana foster, roasted hazelnut, and mangonada. Pints are available and subject to change seasonally. Sometimes weekly, you'll just have to drop by. Jonathan the owner is super hospitable and Naara the manager is super sweet, you'll most likely see her when you come! Highly recommend, may see y'all there!

Yelp
This is one of the best local places to go for handmade original ice cream. The recipes are so creative, and it got a great staff

Yelp
Window shop located in East Houston. No indoor seating, outdoor patio tables available. They have a wide range of creamy and fruity flavors to choose from. Got the orange honey lemonade popsicle, it was fresh and not overly sweet. Quality was similar to Steel City Pops but less expensive. Great service too.

Daniel A.

Yelp
Yelp ok. Ok. That's far enough. I am reconsidering. I have no pop I'm so Shiesty. Nike just do it.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place and OMG so good! The nice person who helped us was very excited to talk about all the flavor options and offerings and it was so hard to choose just one because it all sounds very good. I had the Mexican Bananas Foster and I absolutely loved Will definitely have to go back soon to try more flavors--I was really wanting to go back for a second pop and try the Honey Lavender right away.

Yelp
Popston delivered fresh and flavorful popsicles. The cream-based ones had a soft, creamy texture, while the fruit-based pops were more solid. However, in the scorching Houston heat, my kiddos' cream-based popsicles began to melt quickly. Next time, we'll opt for the fruit-based ones, which would probably hold up better. The Elote was authentic and some really great street corn. Overall, a tasty treat.

Yelp
AMAZING SERVICE met the owner! AND love the back story on family-owned and from second ward area. Every flavor is always an exciting experience itself. I tell everyone this is a houston gem and not to be missed. I make it a top 10 for my fav places to grab dessert or refreshing treats! Cute walk up window and excellent location. Parking can be well who cares its worth it! I promise!

Yelp
One of the best Ice Creams in town. They have a variety of different flavors. My favorite was the toasted marshmallows, but I also tried mango with tajin and orange, honey, and salted lemonade. I recommend all of them. The owner is a super nice guy. This is the perfect treat for this hot summer.

Twanda D.

Yelp
Delicious, different and refreshing. I had a mango guava passion fruit popsicle. Very well done. Try this place.

Yelp
Stumbled across their new location as we were heading to How to Survive on Land and Sea. We swung by for a post dinner and drinks treats. You can't miss their storefront from all the bright colors. We got the cookies and cream popsicle. The flavors were good, but my only complaint is I wish they would crumble in the Oreos versus leaving this whole to make it easier to eat. My popsicle was melting, but I had a hard time biting into the Oreo itself cause the cream was still frozen. Nice employees though. They've got some chairs and a few tables outside.

Yelp
Popston never disappoints! Always coming up with good flavors! Worth the drive! Founder is always on site and working hard.

Paxton A.

Yelp
AMAZING!! Happened to stumble on this place from a random Instagram post and now I'm obsessed!

Eric K.

Yelp
Not your average popsicle! We got the mango kiwi and it was so creamy and refreshing. Can't wait to try more flavors!

Yelp
You won't regret coming here! I had the cereal and milk with fruity pebbles and it was seriously delicious, there are many flavors to choose from and there is something for everyone. The service was quick, easy, and the staff are super friendly. This is a perfect place to cool down with a sweet treat and a totally instagramable spot with beautiful artwork.

Yelp
Omg!!! Thought I had revieweddddd!!! Excellent service! Popsicles are so good! Loveeee the mascarpone berry one, it's the best. I also love the zombieyada! I was suppose to share and I went to hide in my room. Told my husband he wouldn't like it. Told him the truth later.
google avatar

Melinda M.

Yelp
Amazing! Worth every cent. I don't have dogs anymore but I luved the fact the even had "pupcicles". Our furbabies will absolutely appreciate this treat with our Texas heat. The selection-Wow! I wish I would have brought a mini cooler to take more home but all the more reason to visit over & over again.

Karina M.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! If you come here, try the mangonada and the kiwi mango! It has some seating outside so you can sit out and enjoy your ice cream. They had several options for ice cream/ sorbet. Also super friendly and explained the menu and what he recommends, will bring my family here next time!

Brenda S.

Yelp
Stopped by while on a bike ride in the East End - so glad we did as it was fun trying out their hand made, gourmet popsicles. We both really enjoyed our sorbet flavors ($4 for Strawberry Lemonade and $5 for Rodeo Clown) but next time I want to try a gelato. We also enjoyed talking to the friendly owner who installed a bike rack so you can park/lock your bikes while checking out the other shops and also provides a 10% discount to cyclists. Looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
Awesome new dessert spot in East End! My wife and I both had to go with a gelato. I got birthday cake and she got key lime pie. Both were cute and tasty! Great little spot!

Coby C.

Yelp
Best craft popsicles in the city! You must stop by and check them out. We had the banana foster and it was amazing!
