Pork Slope

The tasty food at Pork Slope is just one part of the experience. The bar is stocked with every kind of brown liquor you can think of or have never heard of. My favorite eats: wedge salad with sirracha ranch dressing and bacon, buffalo shrimp, chicken nuggets and the ribs are amazing! The service is spotty, sometimes good and sometimes you have to try hard to get someones attention. The food makes up for it though!

Excellent addition to the 5th avenue food scene. First come first served seating. Everything we had was exceptional. Crispy tater tots made you long for middle school. The vinegar Cole slaw was sweet and refreshing. The pulled pork sandwich was tender and meaty with a tangy BBQ sauce and pickles and was served on pan fried soft Texas toast like bread. It was hard to put down. Simple in conception but executed with care. Service was friendly but a little slow. The mixed drinks were a little unbalanced but they had well stocked bar with a solid beer and whiskey offering. Dale was there keeping on thing, so top chef fans keep an eye out.

I went to here last night with a friend. We couldn't decide where to go and thought let's give this place a shot and we were so glad we did. The food was amazing and the drinks were incredible. The wait staff was attentive and quick and provided their feedback and were very helpful. The server we had was Amanda and she was phenomenal. She is funny and personable and just all around the cutest. So if you are ever in Park Slope definitely check out Pork Slope.

You cannot have such a great name like Pork Slope and NOT have RIBS on your menu. OK I get that the Burger was supposed to be the best thing on your menu, BUT I went for the BBQ, and they didn't even know how to handle a pulled pork sandwich (it wasn't bad but coleslaw was crap). Plus they ran out of their house beer, and they didn't have the Jello shots made.

Photos to come, but this was a solid meal. Grabbed the porky melt on a friend's recommendation, added a few pickled jalapenos and savored the spicy combo. The tater tots and onion strings transport you to a quality roadside diner, just really well done side items. You can sit at the bar and order or place your order and grab a table with friends. Either way, say hi to the bartender (they're ready with recommendations) and sample their wall of whiskey or over 15 beers on tap.

I arrived the day of the snow storm 2/10 with my 9 year old son who was very excited to play a game of pool. The manager, Billy could have been hungover because he was dismissive and rude. He would not even have a conversation with me. He just spoke over his shoulder telling me we could not play pool. I had been in two weeks earlier during the day to teach my son the game and their wasn't a problem. The owner's number was unavailable to discuss the matter, (I hope there wont be a real emergency, LOL). I had their pork sandwich which was fair. I was disappointed because I love a good pork sandwich. It was terribly sweet and the pork was too wet for the bread which became soggy. I will not return.

Just one block away from, makes for a convenient and cheap place for lunch or a quick bite! Honestly wish they were 24 hours. I've been there a couple times for lunch now, and you just can't beat $1 for 4 (decently sized) pork and leek dumplings. Get 2 orders for a filling $2 meal. For some variety, get one order of dumplings plus a $4 noodle soup dish for a Amazing. There is a small amount of seating inside, and also adjacent to the main ordering window. I haven't actually eaten inside, but it seems cramped, hot, and doesn't have the cleanest feel. The wait during lunch time can be on the longer side given its popularity.

At first glance, having a Chicago style hot dog on the menu is wonderful, and a welcome addition to the neighborhood. But upon further inspection, there's a whole bunch of stuff wrong. 1. The hot dog is grilled 2. The pickles are not in "spear" shape 3. The relish is not bright green. 4. There is no celery salt. Dale should know better. He put the item on the menu because he is from Chicago. This is not a proper Chicago style hot dog. This makes me sad. I also had the porky melt at Pig Island and was excited to try it at the restaurant. What they served on the Island was not what I got... The restaurant version was on marble rye (not griddled pumpernickel) and had mustard. it also tasted beefier, rather than porky. Maybe that's how it "normally" is, but I fell in love with the version at Pig Island and want it again. Also worth mentioning, the shrimp "Po Boy" is more like fried shrimp on Texas Toast and their coleslaw is sub-par. Lots of little things that should improve.
