Cute, small, cozy place. My espresso martini was good and strong, but a bit sweet for me. But I liked the vibe here. It was super chill. The music was at a good volume and I would definitely return.

Google
A pricey venue on the drinks they have a up stairs and down stairs bar. A chill place to just find a place to sit and enjoy a drink. Music was actually country for a change worth a visit.

This bar was all decked out for Christmas. We went around 3 pm when the upstairs was also open. We went in the afternoon so it wasn't too busy. We had two holiday drinks that were great. It was fun..

I appreciate Porter's a lot. But the little things make all the difference. I like the atmosphere. It's a unique setting. One of the bartenders is really nice, always pleasant and seems like a great guy. The owner is usually present and always smiling and friendly with customers. It's a good place, and typically the service there is excellent. Unfortunately I was in there for the first time in awhile this past Saturday, and had a bad experience with a newer bartender I hadn't seen before. She was rude and dismissive to the point where I told the other bartender, I won't be back, at least not anytime soon. I don't share this to rip Porter's. People make their livelihood there and I wish them the best. And I'm disappointed because I really enjoy going there. But the treatment by one bartender towards me after a brief accident and an apology is not something I can't look past. Customer experience is massive. How we treat others, is very important. What is more important than that? I can't think of anything. In a world where phones and screens and AI dominate, people go to places like Porters to connect with others and to feel good. The service industry is very hard and anyone can have a bad day. I always appreciate and thank people in food & bev, and in retail. They have very hard jobs. But how you treat people, in good times and in bad, matters.

1 word: FUN. I’m a local & live nearby. Great drink pours. We love sitting at the window pointing at tourists. (Nuf said 😝)

Well this place was awesome. It was super packed after the spring training game but was still able to get a drink quickly within a few minutes of walking in. Beth a blast from the past served us a few cocktails. Rooftop was awesome as well.

The service and atmosphere was awesome. Great selection of bourbon and whiskey. Santa's old-fashioned .

This review is actually for the bar that is above Porters, called The Post (which I'm sure are owned by the same person, and to get to the Post, you have to go through Porters security. The Post is more of a whiskey bar, specializing in rarer seen cocktails. Cool place. Above all the noise from downstairs, while still maintaining some ambiance. Very relaxed. Almost secretive, and the sign advertising this place isn't all that large. It's a sidewalk sign behind Porters' security. Once you upstairs via the exterior staircase it's starkly different. The bartender was even able to make a boulevardier, which not many places have the ingredients for, or don't know how to make it.

Yelp
I stopped here with my dad and stepmom while we were bar hopping. It was right after Christmas so they had this cute decor up! It was very busy, on a weekday afternoon even! Maybe holiday break? But it had a fun vibe!!! The bartender was very nice! We were at a table, and just had cheap beers but he would walk over and check for refills before they were even empty! Great service!!!!

Sabine T.

Yelp
Went to Porters Western Saloon to enjoy the Christmas decorations. The decor was really fun and festive, both in the regular bar downstairs and in the North Pole pop-up upstairs and I enjoyed that part of it. I really wanted to love my time at Porters but sadly I wasn't impressed with the service at all and it really soured my experience. We first grabbed a drink downstairs. It was early afternoon on the Saturday before Christmas, so it was a bit crowded (but not so crowded that there were no tables available - we got a table right away) and I can understand why service was a bit slow. I asked the lady at the bar which drink from their Christmas menu was the prettiest and she kinda scoffed and said that all the drinks were festive, which was not helpful. My friend and I ordered different drinks, and they both came as plain cocktails. They tasted fine, but there was nothing festive about the presentation. We then asked what time the pop-up upstairs opened, and were told a time that was an entire hour later than the actual opening time. We only figured it was open because we saw people getting in and out. Upstairs, the north pole pop-up was super-cute but same issue with the lack of friendliness from the staff. I'm disappointed that it was so difficult to get a smile as a customer, especially in a Christmas pop-up. I asked again to get the most festive-looking drink on the menu. The drink I got simply had a little santa toothpick and a few mini marshmallows in it. Again, it was good but it was surprising to think this was the most festive-looking option they had. My friend's drink turned out to be a regular cocktail as well. For being such a festive place with a specialized Christmas drink menu (and I imagine, inflated prices for these drinks - they were $15 and more per drink), the plain cocktails were a bit of a letdown.

Holly K.

Yelp
Super cute old Western salon, still has Christmas menu January 21. First drink was Rudolph illegal package which I did not like (but I'm not a big drinker) taste like Vic vaper rub but waitress changed it for me to the kranberry jingle which was much better

Susie O.

Yelp
If you want a bar to catch up with friends and have delicious drinks, then you should definitely go to Porters. My favorite drink is the Jalisco Espresso Martini, but I also love their "Best in the West" old fashioned. The lights in the bar are also simply beautiful and fun.

Savanna R.

Yelp
Fun spot! There are tables if you want to sit, or there is standing room. We liked that this bar wasn't as crowded. Drinks were a good price. Staff was very friendly

Ned R.

Yelp
A basic bar, not great but if you want a basic beer and cocktail it is fine. Bartender was friendly and it was a good time, for one cocktail. More of a local customer hangout.

saray R.

Yelp
Just not my vibe but that's just because I'm old. Personally I thought there would be more holidays drink options but I was wrong. Pretty basic. If your an American 21 year old then this is your place. Not my cup of tea.

Kendra M.

Yelp
Love this place. Hole in the wall country bar vibes. It's an awesome pop up Christmas charade spectacle during the season. Simple drinks are stiff. This is where to go for a good standard drink.

Ric S.

Yelp
Bartender told me she couldn't turn up the music outside. I tried to help her pour a beer because she couldn't get my beer poured without the head. So this is my punishment I assume. I didn't argue though. Just won't be back

Yelp
We recently had friends in from out of town and received a recommendation to try this place from a mutual friend of the owner. The bar was clean, nicely decorated and had a good selection of spirits. One of our guests ordered a few drinks and paid with cash. This person is from a country that does not tip and was their first day in the USA. A patron next to us at the bar, I assume a regular, observed this and told us our kind wasn't welcome and we needed to finish our drinks and leave. I asked him if he was the owner and he said no. He continued to verbally harass us and then started to stare at us in a very strange way. I don't know if he was intoxicated, on something or both. This made our female guests, there were 5, very uncomfortable. I didn't want to cause a scene and figured we would make up the tip on the next round and offered to buy this person a beer. he continued to verbally attack us. He then moved to the back of the bar and continued to stare. At this point we decided to leave as we were unsure of what this person was going to do or capable of doing. It's a shame that a misunderstanding over cultural differences ruined a nice evening. I wonder how many other patrons this person has run off over the years?

Marci K.

Yelp
While in Old Town, we saw that Porter's Saloon has a whiskey bar upstairs, so that's where we spent a few hours on a very busy Saturday night. Vibe is western/industrial. Drinks are handcrafted and pretty potent. Having attended University of Wyoming, I was excited to see that the Desperado features Wyoming Whiskey (with a spicy pear liqueur and bitters)- my husband says it is a pretty solid choice for a whiskey fan. I tried the Cowgirl Cosmo and while it is pretty and delicious, it is strong!! Try at your own risk. This is a fun casual place with good atmosphere and great drinks. We will be back.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Oh, this place was weird. We had great drinks. A great time. Then we paid. My husband got a High West "Double Rye" and the bartender charged him for a double but never mentioned that the pour was a double. So when I asked her why we were charged twice she got extremely defensive, asked me why i was yelling at her and told us we didn't have to tip. clearly. we know that but thank you for being so condescending. We did tip because we're not monsters but with *Double* in the name of the whiskey this seems like it should be a clarifying question. The atmosphere was okay but maybe skip this place unless you want to go home unpacking your bartender's issues. It's the "i don't know why you're yelling at me" when i said, "it's literally called a Double Rye" that got me. I've been in this industry for 20 years. If i was yelling, you would know. I was clarifying and stating the obvious and was actually very taken aback when she accused me of yelling. Anyway-- We also bought their special Elijah Craig Bourbon bottle because we were having such a nice time and then she had to go and make it so weird. This is one of those things where if you're having a great night-- don't end it here unless you want the bartender to gaslight you into overthinking your interactions the whole ride home. Big yikes.

Yelp
Love this Bar ! Have to stop by every time I'm in town to see my favorite bartender and Friend "Birdie "

Dominic K.

Yelp
Sneaky little gem. This bar has a great upstairs and downstairs bar. The drinks are super strong!! This is a great alternative to the rusty spur if it's full. It's only missing live music.

Jamison L.

Yelp
Great drinks and always great service! This is our 2nd time coming here from San Diego, And we will definitely be back!

Anne B.

Yelp
Just had a few drinks at this very cool western bar. They were well made, strong and delicious. It was very crowded on a Friday night and we were lucky to snag a few seats at the downstairs bar. Service was great and enjoyed the experience. Did go back on Sunday night to have one of their great drinks (diablo) and it was very quiet.

Melody H.

Yelp
This well design and attractive bar in Old Town gets high marks from me for the service and ambiance. Add it to your places to visit in Scottsdale.

Paul W.

Yelp
Bad service, the bartender wanted nothing to do with serving anyone under that age of 50. She was rude from the beginning after asking for water when looking over the menus, and after that would passive aggressively serve us or answer questions.

Madison W.

Yelp
If you are visiting Scottsdale and don't stop in at Porters you are missing out. Not only was it once Scottsdale's first US post office but it is the best locals bar in the Old Town area. The staff is amazing, the place is clean, and they have amazing craft cocktails. Bonus if you are visiting around Christmas because their decorations are 10/10. Love this place!

Bryan S.

Yelp
Our favorite bar in old town! Great drinks and crowd. Did not try any food unfortunately.

Alyson G.

Yelp
I love love LOVE the decor of this saloon. The horse in the front is so fun! And all the Christmas lights on the second floor just give a great ambiance. The bartenders are pretty quick with putting out drinks especially with how busy the place was on a Saturday night.

Ellorey G.

Yelp
Rude female bartenders and gives very racist vibes. Stay away!!! Didn't try food - I'm sure it wasn't great.

Greg L.

Yelp
Awesome owner, bartenders and patrons for day drinking. Cool ambience, like it better in the summer.

Colleen F.

Yelp
Would leave Zero stars if we could. Was just there and got TWO bugs in a Margarita. Yes two black flys in the same glass!!! The bartender Scooped out the first bug and GAVE MY SON back the drink!!! She seemed totally annoyed and inconvenienced when we asked her to take the drink back and make a new one!! She could not have been more unprofessional. Tourist trap that you should avoid!! Got the bill and was Charged for the "two fly Margarita!" Travel all the time and will not be recommending Porters to Anyone!!

Liam F.

Yelp
Would leave zero stars if I could. I never leave reviews on places but felt compelled on this one, due to how god awful of an experience it was. Avoid this place at all costs if you enjoy drinking and prefer no bugs in your drinks. Was served a margarita and once I received it, there was a bug floating in it. I respectfully let the bartender know, assuming they would just make a new one. Instead, the bartender (female with dark hair and glasses) grabbed the drink and scooped out the bug, handing it back to me. Then, once I got it back, I noticed there was not one, but multiple bugs floating in there! Upon getting it back once I asked again if I could just have another drink (crazy request right?) and the bartender seemed absolutely inconvenienced and annoyed with having to remake this, as if it were my fault. Also, she did not take that drink off of the bill. I'm usually extremely easy going and understandable with this, but her attitude was just unnecessary and unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, literally anywhere.

Ruben T.

Yelp
No food, but a nice place to stop and rest your feet from the shopping, and a nice cold beer, and some great whiskey selections! Fun place in Old Town!

Elisia D.

Yelp
Came in to try the prickly pear margarita! Delicious! Strong and sweet! Staff was friendly and atmosphere fun! It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and felt very cozy! Would highly recommend stopping in if you are around downtown Scottsdale.

Jim V.

Yelp
No Shirts... No Boots... replaced by Great service. Porters Western Wear, a long time old town staple is now just Porters Western. What replaced all the buckles and boots is now beers and booze. Even with such changes some Old Town traditions prevail. Father and son, Sean and Grey local saloon keepers are starting a "new" Old Town tradition. Service is swift and friendly, I must say the beers are cold and the Bud lights are fresh. The Saloon itself is small with about 15 barstools and a few small tables, and they make the most of the small and tidy side patio. So pile in and belly up to old towns newish watering hole, just look for the horse on the roof.

Chris K.

Yelp
The little western bar in Olde Town! Great conversation, Barkeeps and folks around. Once you walk in you feel like a Rodeo is about to start. Good drinks and whiskey, tequila. You name it they got it.

David D.

Yelp
Great selection of whiskey and bourbon. Haven't tried the food. But who eats at a saloon?

Justin D.

Yelp
I've been going to Porter's for the last 5 years... But tonight the bartender on the top floor, mustache and manbun threw my check back at me and said "that's all you're going to tip me!?"... I gave him 20% and it took him 45 minutes to serve me a single drink but I guess my tip wasn't enough for him.

D W.

Yelp
This became our backup on afternoons when the Rusty Spur was totally packed, and it was surprisingly mostly empty despite the huge baseball tourist crowd in town in late April. Nice full bar, a few good tap and lots of microbrew can beer and some creative and tasty cocktails. Seems like a locals place which is always a good find. Sitting at one of the window tables is fun, watch the other tourists wander about and look for parking, then try to actually park. Cheap entertainment. Highly recommend.

Jeff K.

Yelp
I can't recommend this place as a good place to have a drink. The patrons are overserved , drunk and belligerent. Bartenders are ridiculous. Plenty of others places are better choices. The regulars in this place are jerks, one tried to start a fight with me. I just left. So many better bars, why waste your time on an overpriced dump that overcharges you. Customers were obviously overserved, bartender just stood there and watched this guy cause sh!t with me and other patrons . Did NOTHING. This was at 5 pm on a Friday .

Bob S.

Yelp
Looks like a cool place but very expensive. Old Town Tavern just across the street has live music and is a lot less expensive

Brooke B.

Yelp
Andrew is rockin! Total bad boy. Can serve a drink and cut a shirt. Man buns or no buns

Heather C.

Yelp
Used to love to come here while MIKE was working. After finding out he's no longer there I can see the decline of this bar already. I definitely don't recommend talking to the rude female bartenders.

Dan S.

Yelp
Fun, friendly, interesting. Porters Western Saloon offered a nice break, from window shopping. Being guests in the beautiful city of Scottsdale, we had no prior knowledge of this business. While walking by, we were forced to pause in our tracks. The location was beautifully lit inside. This was an immediate draw. I was hoping for some light appetizers. However, this saloon offers drinks only. The drinks tasted great. The staff was friendly and the service prompt. Definitely a fun spot to check out.

Anthony S.

Yelp
Ok this place is what it is, but the BT was friendly, and cordial! The place is small and there's no food , but its still a fun place! Recommended if your in old town!

Tinamarie S.

Yelp
Great little bar, very festive decor. We sat and enjoyed people watching and chit chatting. It was a bit loud but it's a bar and there was a large group celebration. Good drinks.

Patrick H.

Yelp
This bar is a nice addition to Old Town. It's the perfect size - not too big and not too small. A good mix of locals and tourists. Decent craft beer options along with liquor and some specialty cocktails. Friendly service and fun decor.

Alexis K.

Yelp
While visiting Old Town in Scottsdale, my cousin and I stopped in Porters for a drink. We made great friends with the Owner as well as the Bartenders! Grey and Eric are the BEST! They treated us so well and we had a lot of great laughs together. Will never forget how much fun we had at Porters! -Hannah and Lexi

Jenna G.

Yelp
Best modern saloon bar in the area, decorated for Christmas, new upstairs bar. Great signature drinks, I personally like a good cucumber refresher!

Anne L.

Yelp
The team here could teach classes on customer service! They love their regulars and welcome all warmly. Grey always has a smile on his face and is lightning fast with the service. Great to see such a well run family business. We're in Scottsdale about four times a year and have made this a favorite hangout. Five stars all the way!

Courtney M.

Yelp
Happy to Find this place open on a Monday night. The bartender was super sweet. We enjoyed a couple elf the signature cocktails.

Brian S.

Yelp
My uncles & I came here for a beer while my mother & aunts shopped. I love the old world atmosphere & the country music they had playing. The bartender was very nice & like us, everyone was having a great time. I love microbrews, so got a scottsdale blond. My uncles loved theirs. So, for great drinks at reasonable prices in an oldworld atmosphere, Porter's cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys.

Rhonda G.

Yelp
Porters is a great new spot in Old Town to stop in for a few drinks! The patrons in the bar are all friendly (and regulars). The decorations are cozy and make you feel as though you're drinking at home with friends! The draft beer list is limited...not a place to drink if you need lots of craft beer choices! Definitely worth a stop for a drink and don't forget...you're amongst friends so make yourself at home!

Joel T.

Yelp
this place don't answer their phone ! I was there on 1/3/2023 I paid for my drinks on a tab 19.34 and they charged me another 50 on another charge I don't know about! I am starting to think these people are thief's!! I am about to report them if I don't get a call ! do not do a tab at this place! Callec 15 times they don't answer? Do not trust this place!

Nicole H.

Yelp
I was so excited to finally go here since they turned it into a saloon, unfortunately my first time wasn't a good experience at all. I walked in on a Sunday night and the bartender was with 4 of her friends sitting on top of the bar posing for a picture- although I thought it was weird I offered to take a picture and she didn't even look at me or acknowledge me and just said "we don't allow dogs" and kept posing for the picture. I was like okay... and just walked out. We decided to come back an hour later without our dog, we walk in and ask for a shot, it's still only her and her friends in the bar. She then says "we had last call already" in a snarky voice. It was 11:20 and the bar closes at midnight. Not sure what her problem was but I hope to never see her again and have a better experience next time.

Joel T.

Yelp
I had complained about Porters overcharging me 50.00. Finally I got a call from owner or manager. He was very nice and refunded me the money for the overcharge. I have a suggestion though, please answer your phones! Thank you!
