Don’t you understand old people take for ever to order there. Also only one old guy cleaning tables. You should also invest a bit on the bathroom they stink bad. Our go to when you can't get to Chicago. Italian beef is great hot dogs are good and now they are serving breakfast.

Amazing Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago dogs, and more! Love this place. I recommend having the Italian beef dipped. Always a must stop in Chicago.

Their donuts are out of this world…!!! (Stan donuts collab w Portillo’s chocolate cake…unbelievably amazing). Breakfast here was a hit for the whole family; croissant sandwiches were awesome, even their coffee was delicious. Will be getting more frequently for our mornings. Highly recommend and hope this is here to stay!

We have the pleasure of visiting the store which is one of only four portillo's restaurants serving breakfast. It's a test of their breakfast menu. The limited selection put the food is really good. I got the pepper and egg sandwich which is smaller than the one they serve during Lent but perfect for the morning. You can see the menu board below. The food was all good and the donuts are great! They're basically selling donuts from Stan's donuts, which is a relatively famous chain of donut stores. We want a little out of our way to get there on a Sunday morning but we're definitely going back! Recommend that if you're near the portillo's in Shorewood Illinois are any of the other three stores in the Chicago area, check them out!

I don’t know what the hype is about this restaurant. Flavorless food, soggy fries even the soda taste like chlorine. Order a tamal to try it but that is nothing but salty meat wrap in dough. Nasty. Order a chicken sandwich that came with a gallon of mayonnaise, nasty. This was my first visit to Portillos and will be the last one.

As always, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great. The service was excellent, making it one of my favorite restaurants when I visit Chicago.

So since I'm not too far from Portillo's in Shorewood, I decided to give their breakfast to go since I noticed the lines have gone down and the wait time probably would be less. Well the portion sizes were kind of small , but enjoyed the chocolate cake doughnut that was probably the highlight. Pepper & egg sandwich was tasty. The cheese was tasty, but there was only one pepper in the bun which was basically a standard size bun cut in half. That was disappointing. I also ordered a bacon , egg and cheese sandwich which my spouse enjoyed . Small , tasted cheesey and there was bacon aplenty which was good. Spent about 15 bucks. Typical Portillos. Quality of food good but portion sizes were small. If I were to go again, Id order the chocolate cake-shake coffee. Need to try the hash brown bites as well.

Their polish sausage and egg breakfast sandwich is darn good! All the other breakfast items aren't worth it, but that one is definitely worth the drive!

I loved Portillo's Chopped Salad so yesterday I went into the restaurant to order one. Before I ordered I asked the girl at the register if they were pre-made and of course she said "no". I asked for it to be tossed in advance and wanted extra dressing with it. Much to my dismay when I got the salad home I had 3 small containers of dressing and a dry salad. I used to like watching them make it so you could tell them what you want on it. I like a lot of dressing on my salad and the 3 small containers didn't do it. It is a good portion and made for feeding 2. I am very disappointed that the order taker lied to me about being freshly made or at least tossed. For the price of $13.07 with tax it's the last time I will be buying one. Portillo's is usually busy but it doesn't take very long to be served. If as I asked that the salad be tossed tell me the truth.

We can literally walk to this one. We visit 2-3 times a month because you can't get enough of a good Chicago dog or a great Italian beef sandwich. Fries are great and the self serve beverages are appreciated. Service is as expected and the ambiance is typical Portillos. Yeah it's a big chain and they had some changes on the way to going corporate. They appear have worked out most of the issues with one major exception. The cake slices are prepackaged and 1/2 the size they used to be

I grew up in the Chicago burbs in the 90's. I always loved Portillo's Italian beefs. Visiting this location used to be one of my favorite parts of coming back to visit my parents. Not anymore. Whoever runs or owns it these days should be ashamed of themselves. Nowadays, they charge double and provide way less. My Italian beef was about the size of a hot dog. The "sweet peppers" was one slice that looked like a small, dark green pickle slice. The "added cheese" was shredded provolone that had not yet melted on the lukewarm beef. Service was ok. Ambiance was a cross between Cracker Barrel and a dirty Chili's. Overall, this was a sad experience.

I have never had a problem with my orders or the staff. No matter which Portillos I go to, food is always good. The staff is always friendly and you gotta love the unique decor. If you are a fan of old antiques, then you will enjoy just spending time reading and enjoying what they have to offer. The beef sandwhiches and Cheeseburgers are always my go to.

First time trying Italian beef and I was not disappointed! Portillo's is casual and has a drive thru. If dining in you order at counter and wait for food. Inside restaurant has a fun vibe and seating is plentiful but not the type of place you are going to linger at. Bread was fresh Italian roll and the beef was flavorful and delicious. Onion rings were super good as well. If I was local, I would be back.

Update: I was invited back here by a friend, not realizing I had already been here 12 years ago! Imagine that. This time I again had a beef hot dog and a Polish sausage. I love the sausage. It's big, it's flavorful, the right toppings. A win. The hotdog was kinda "eh" to me, but I had that last time and I don't think much changed. The seating seems a lot more laid back now, and everything happens in a line so I think the ordering has also settled down. Or else my brain has settled down. The server brought our food to our table - once she could find us - and we chowed down. My friend brought some home to his wife and she chowed down. Much chowing. Portillo's isn't exactly my wheelhouse, but it's a good stop for a "Chicago dog".

Love Portillo's. Ordered the two jumbo hot dogs. EXCELLENT Service was great and super fast Inside was super cool.

Every single time I order from this location it is wrong. Make sure you check your order before you leave. I know they will refund you if you call but that's besides the point. I want what I ordered. That's all

Portillos oh portillos perfect charbroiled burger, chocolate cake shake and crinkle cut fries with cheese oh and the Italian beef dipped with giardinara oooooh say less seriously. Everything you order here is made really well with quality ingredients making this the best fast food restaurant in my opinion! The hot dogs are on poppyseed buns and they have the correct Chicago additions but can make them however you like obviously. The sport peppers are on the smaller side but they rock! Did I say Chocolate Cake Shake?!? Let me say it again CHOCOLATE CAKE SHAKE

Had the worst beef n cheddar Croissant ever last night! It looked like it had been dropped on the floor (yesterday) and then served. The bread was dry and most of the cheese was on the outside of the sandwich. I had gone through drive thru. I was so disappointed because that was my go to place. Probably won't go back there.

Always poor service. I typically order a hot dog and fries. Everyone's order comes up and then 40 minutes later, my number is called and everything is cold. Thinking the hotdog guy can't do his job, this time I ordered a beef hot and cheese fries. The order was just sitting on the back counter (again) and my husband had to ask if the order sitting there was ready....it was.....as usual....we just know we have to ask for our order and not wait for someone to do their job. Every table is filled and a booth in the back corner by the garbage can opens up. There is an employee emptying the garbage and my husband asked if he could get someone to wipe down the table (it was trashed with garbage and various sauces and grease from a family with little kids). The guy said "No, that he was busy" and then he continued to say that he wasn't going to have time to do it for quite some time. So, I took the trash from the previous guest and tried throwing it away in the container that he just emptied the trash to and he scolded me. Apparently, I am thinking that I am helping him by not putting it in a container he needs to empty and in his reality, I am doing bad things. Sorry, dude. I'm just trying to sit at the only available table. Anyway, I sit down and open my foil wrap to see a bread roll that was fully closed with nothing sticking out. I thought it was odd, it's usually a mass of beef on an opened loaf. I opened the bread to see one small scoop of beef and then another weird glob! It didn't even cover the entire bread. $7.79 plus another 75 cents for the hot gardinera. Really? The rest of my order was eh. Fries were limp and super salty. The cheese sauce was good but no where near hot. And, btw, while I'm dealing with the disappointment of a beef situation, my friend that does the trash, is perfecting his lean--nice. Once in a while, he paced and dragged his feet (that was pleasant), and then he leaned some more. You can't make this stuff up. How this location is as busy as it is is beyond me. My meals (with no high maintenance requests) are never correct, warm, or priced appropriately for what I get. Do better, Portillo's!

I love the Beef N Cheddar Croissant but where is the cheddar? This is the second time I have encountered this the other time I requested extra cheddar but to my dismay it was no better than this.

It's kinda like going to McDonalds, the food is good for fast food but the portions seem to be smaller. Will I Go back? Yeah the wife loves the place.

A plain Caesar salad with half of it made with wilted lettuce and I was afraid to eat any of it. The quality has really gone downhill.

As I sit in Portillo's enjoying my hotdog size Italian beef, which cost me $38 with two hotdog special, and my fries were dumped over in the bottom of the bag

Starting off the food here is great, love all of it! Although, the past two times I have gone I have gotten chopped salads. I requested to have a few things taken off and both time they did not care to take them off. Ideally I would like to not have to pick apart my salad, so I am just annoyed because to me it does not seem that hard to do.

If you're looking for horrible customer service and wrong orders, this is the place for you! I went to the drive thru and ordered a salad. I asked for the Greek Vinegarette and received the wrong dressing. No big deal I thought since I caught it before getting home. I handed the dressing back and said I received the wrong one. Her response was, it's the same one different container!!!! I said, I just tasted this one and it's not the same. Can I have the one with the purple cap? I said it's the same one!!! She closed the window and said have a good night Ma'am! I went inside and the General Manager Heather gave me the right dressing and apologized for the service. Heather was very nice, but your store can only be as good as your workers. This store has really gone down with customer service, and the quality of their food.

Is it me or is this place getting worse and worse? I always get the chicken sandwich. It used to be good, now it sucks. The piece of chicken has gotten smaller along with the tomato, and even the piece of lettuce. Yes, 1 piece of lettuce. We've had nothing but problems with this place for the past few months. Pretty sure we're done ordering from there. Which I'm sure they won't care, Portillo's owners make more money than they know what to do with. Good for them.

Everybody was telling me that I had to try Portillo's in Chicago. They highly recommended the chocolate cake. It was extremely good and I went twice. The parking lot is big and the inside is even bigger. The large amount of space makes it easy to follow Covid guidelines. You order your food at the counter and then you move down the aisle to pick up your food. I got a hot dog with peppers, chocolate cake, and beef sandwich with sweet peppers with a side of gravy. The gravy is more or a au juis liquid than gravy. Service was fast and food was affordable. The food tasted good. I wish they had more sauces available.

my wife brought home a big beef for my dinner. Dick, WHERE'S THE BEEF? What a ripoff.

We ordered 2 Combos Juicy, One with Sweet Peppers Fries and Rings from the Drive-Thru on Friday night. I have been going to Portillo's for many, many years and never had such a BAD experience. Cold, limp fries, Almost NO Beef on either sandwich! Are you kidding me? Where's the Beef for my $30+ dollars? I didn't order 2 Sausage sandwiches. I'll be going to Pop's from now on. The order taker wasn't listening either - No, Not Hot Peppers! I know you are busy, but keep it up and you are going to lose even the most loyal of customers.

What can you say other than Portillo's is legendary The dogs and beefsteaks are awesome! The deserts are great too If you've never tried them you are missing out!

What has happened to the service at Portillo's because they can't stop screwing up the orders. They never get our drive through order right over the last year. We play a game in the car while we wait in a long line on what won't we get or what will be added. Today they forgot our cheese burger. They read the burger off as they handed us the bag, but it wasn't in the bag. Still good food, but never leave without checking inside the bag especially if you have several items because something will be missing. Sometimes just something small like the cheese for fries , but we paid for it. Actually every time we ordered cheese fries we never received the cheese. One time we received a bag with 10 tamales in it when we didn't order any of them. This wouldn't continue to happen under Mr Portillo's management, so new owners wake up because I'm tired of figuring it out for you.

Got a gift card, so the wife and I decided to give this place a try. The ordering process for the drive-thru is very efficient. Very short wait time for our order. I would say about 5 minutes total from order to pickup. We tried a couple of the beef bowls. They were excellent and very filling. Beef was very tasty and tender. Italian sausage was well charred with a nice fennel flavor. Would definitely order this again.

We were trying to order Portillos tonight for delivery, tried 4 different times with 2 different payment methods kept saying an issue with payment method. Thinking back a couple years ago I think we had the same issue.

Great location! The ambiance is pretty neat! The hot dogs though... not that great. Insta-worthy spot though. More of a Togo spot though.

The food is disgusting the hamburger was terrible actually tasted old and spoiled. The beef and cheddar was soggy and flavorless not on toasted bread at all. Threw up after tasting it. Absolutely done with Portillo's. The cheese fries were good.

Been going here since it opened. The food taste great , but 50% of the time I am Missing something from my order like cheese sauce or A side. DOUBLE CHECK your bag before you leave this location for takeout or drivethru. They do not always repeat your order.

I'm so glad I didn't read all of the negative reviews. I had the Portillo and the Maxwell 50/50 with my partner so we could taste both. These were delicious!! The Maxwell was probably the best dog I've ever eaten. I slammed an ice cold beer while waiting for my order - huge frosty clean glass!! Heaven, I tell ya. My partner and I shared the chocolate chocolate cake shake and the strawberry lemon cake shake. WTF!!! Both were so name good. I've never had anything like it. The line was long but it went fast. The person who took my order was super nice and efficient.

NOT THE PORTILLOS WE ARE USED TO! So disappointed how far things have gone down. Ordered 2 chopped salads, seems simple enough, right? Oh no, asked for cheese on the side for one of them and extra bread. Didn't get the cheese, didn't get bread and then to make matters worse, only got 1 dressing. We have had several different occasions where things are messed up and each time we wait longer to go back again but now I have to ask if they are even capable of getting it right so why go back. Someone is not paying attention! Instead of moving forward with opening more restaurants maybe you ought to fix the ones you have "whoever is running the show" because it sure isn't Dick Portillo.

Stop by today by chance. I ordered to Portillo's hot dog with everything and it was fantastic. Basically it was a Chicago-style hot dog which is my absolute all-time favorite hot dog. I was greeted by Kate when I ordered my beer and she was The Perfect Host. She greeted me with for the warm welcome and told me the history of the brand. Great people great food.

Portillos is too expensive for my blood. I've eaten better beef sandwiches and hotdogs that didn't cost half as much.

Constantly messing up simple orders. 4/5 of my recent orders have been messed up Asked for a chicken sandwich, got a chicken club with no veggies and only bacon and charged for that. Asked them to correct it, they picked off the bacon (still smelled like it), and forgot the veggies again. Asked for a burger with everything add mustard, got just mustard twice. Hot dog was soaked and the bread was drenched/soggy. Completed the survey for the free fries, told them, and they still charged me for the order of fries. I generally like the food but it's hard to do when 2/3 times, a simple order gets messed up. I get it if it's a big order, but it's literally just for one or two people. They read it back to me the right way, and build the wrong thing. The burgers are still good though if you can actually get a hot one.

Portillos has been a Chicago favorite for my husband and I for as long as we've lived here, and it's always a must go when we have out of town guests. My favorites are the big beef, Chicago style hot dog, cheese fries, chocolate cake and cake shake. The wait is often long when you're ordering in but worth it imo.

Beef sandwiches are very good with a choice of add-ons. Fast service. Their chocolate cake is to die for. I bought a whole cake to take to a Labor Day cookout.

We all work hard for our money and no matter how much we spend for fast food there should be some form of quality. I go to Portillo often and for some odd reason they always mess up the order. This particular Portillos is always crowded, but it's more crowded when they take 1 lane away going to drive thru. I ordered 2 regular beefs dipped with sweet peppers , a big beef dipped with sweet peppers , 2 small fries ,2 hot dogs with everything and a piece of chocolate cake. I ended up after waiting in the drive thru at there window. The kid at the window eventually gave the food repeated the order and I said where's the hotdogs. He said that wasn't ordered if I'd like to add to the order , I did why add when I already ordered it. I said just give my food and said I'm tired of Portillos always f*cling up my order. Maybe Corporate should realiZe how they keep screwing up

My husband and I both ordered cheeseburgers. They were undercooked, and because of that, they were dripping with grease. In my opinion, the grill that they send burgers through was not hot enough . They had just opened. They were covered in ketchup. Probably a quarter cup. They were so disgusting. The burger was sliding. out of the bun. It makes me nauseated just thinking of those cheeseburgers.

Seriously the rudest customer service ever. They forgot to add our FOUR cups of cheese for our cheese fries and an onion ring that we ordered. After spending $60 we were served with disgusting attitudes by the two girls working the drive through outside and at the window. The girl at the window questioned us two times over cheese sauce, literally. Then we were told they had to bring this up to their manager. Acting like we were trying to steal a couple cups of cheese lolllll. Our whole shorewood family spends an awful lot of money here and after this we definitely will not be returning. Shorewood portillos has gone DOWN hill. Wish I could give this ghetto trashy place zero stars. Annnnnd these are the onion rings they gave us after the altercation. omg, don't go through the drive thru, the man was arguing of what i wanted. ended up getting something that wasn't what i said, what is wrong with saying a beef and cheddar croissant? it's been a staple for a long time. he kept saying something else, i gave up and got what he said. i sent it back, of course more money, no offer of any money back! also dah, the kiosks which took some of the old peoples booths, omg i am sure that these people who love to hold seats before people get there, i am sure you are losing business. yes, the kiosks are nice, no signage to say this is new, i seen not a person even looking, while i was sitting closer to them. there apparently was some top brass making comments - lets test it was said, what? one guy talking so loud on his phone prior to the other coming. omg, need a hearing aide or stay away from where people are eating, disgusting! i don't want to hear a conversation so loud that i needed to unplug the jerk. today people even in businesses who should know better are all for themselves and don't regard anyone who is trying to eat! i am done with this establishment as its never improved. never ever see a manager, maybe he or she needs to see what happening!

I just ordered a Maxwell Street Polish beef sandwich and a hamburger it was $30 go somewhere else not worth it and they took 10 minutes to get it
