The Best Holiday Markets in Portland, Oregon, 2023 | Eater Portland

"Planned below the Morrison Bridge between Harvey Milk and Morrison streets, Woodsy Winter Village pairs an ice rink with a holiday marketplace offering concessions, hot cocoa, and pop-up shops; I can buy skate tickets for $20 for adults and $12 for kids, though details remain limited." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

We has a great time. We were on the ice right after a break/cleaning, and it was awesome. It is a small rink, so go on a weekday or weekday night, I feel like the crowds are manageable. We went on Tuesday... 1/2 price. The staff was super nice and helpful. There are no lockers, so leave as much stuff as you can at home. The rental stakes are better than I remember back in the day.

Way too small. There’s no crowd control and the ice is very bumpy. They didn’t clean the ice for our whole session. Lloyd center is much better for the same price. I guess it’s fun if you have kids, but if you’re going on a date here it’s kind of disappointing. They do have food carts which is nice

Super fun we arrived at 6:00 p.m. the ice was just resurfaced on a Tuesday not too busy fantastic! The people that needed skates really appreciated the fact they were sharp and easy to put on and were in good condition.

Ice skating right back into childhood memories! This was so fun, and the pricing is really fair for the amount of time you get. Staff is friendly and the ice is in great shape. We had so much fun skating and watching others of all ages enjoying themselves as well. The hot apple cider we had after getting off the ice, sitting by a fireplace, was the perfect ending to a great time.

We went on opening day and it was a fun way for the family to spend a weekend morning trying a new activity down by the waterfront in Downtown. We likely wouldn’t have been Downtown that day if it weren’t for this event/activity. We saw the Portland Pickle mascot ice skating (they’ve got skills), as well as a few local elected officials. Things we liked: plastic animals to rent so that younger kids can safely skate with their parents pushing them (we used a blue seal), the skate rental is right next to the ice with adjacent seating area, local vendor tents and food trucks for food/drinks, tables/games for sitting and eating, super easy parking right next to the rink entrance (can pay with parking kitty).

Really fun ice skating rink, open for the winter of 2023. Gets really busy, be prepared for big crowds. But IMO, that is part of the fun. Cost is $20, regardless if you bring your own skates.

I'll start with the good: parking is easy and staff are super friendly! Unfortunately the skates are extremely dull, and combined with the ice being bumpy and wet despite being freshly resurfaced, it was extremely difficult to get any kind of traction. Overall a pretty disappointing experience, but maybe my expectations were too high? Lloyd Center is a better option imo!

I was excited to finally try this place and was heavily disappointed by the establishment’s condition as well as the condescending treatment of the staff. I arrived before 4pm for the upcoming skating session and was met with subtle attitude by an older gentleman on checking out 3 tickets ($60) for myself and my friends as we had not filled the waivers yet. We headed over to rentals and I noticed that the skates were plastic Ice World skates which were notorious for being insanely uncomfortable as they were loose in some areas and tight in others. Nevertheless our group gave it a chance and did not last 10 minutes without wanting to be done. The condition of the rink was terrible as well however I do understand that it was an outside skate rink but a grooming of the ice would at least help curb the amount of accidents bound to happen. We decided to end the session early and inquire about a refund on the way out. The cashier did not know how to refund the tickets and brought her manager over who came in strongly with a negative attitude. I informed that the reason we were wanting a refund was because we skated for less than 10 minutes and that the skates were uncomfortable. The older gentleman had stated that they “had been opened for several months and have only heard this complaint from my group” followed by “these skates were ordered by Kristi Yamaguchi’s coach who knows a thing or two about skating”. These statements were condescending and made it clear that a refund was possible however they were wanting to avoid accountability by wanting to assume the responsibility of a horrible experience to us for our lack of skate knowledge. I wanted to leave immediately so I accepted them offering a partial refund of one person’s admission ($20) out of the ($60) bill. My experience would be a lot less horrible had the older gentleman flat out stated that they offered no refunds. Instead, they tried to curb the refund by berating me and my friends which overall bestowed the honor of this business receiving it’s generous one star review.
