Porto Bello Pizzeria Restaurant

The pizza was undercooked and soggy. The toppings were lazily thrown on the pizza and I had to wait a long time for it to come. The table I sat at was dirty and when I asked for an employee to come clean it no one came. The employees are rude and don’t care about their customers they don’t even offer a napkin or utensils when the food is served. The only decent thing I had here was the Pepsi bottle. They definitely had better service and food before but now it’s not so great. Won’t be coming back here if they were giving food out for free. They have a good atmosphere but I wish their service and food matched the energy!

8/6/23 Sunday Here we are again today and the service and food is still the same excellent but today I want to give a big thanks and compliment all servers, Syed Ashley and James they were awesome. Of course I will return and recommend. I love the service music ambience Food it feels like you’re at home! 1/22/22 Had dinner with family. What can I say? Excellent! Rafael our waiter was exceptional ans super attentive. I love the food, ambience, music, staff etc. Had dinner with family on Sat. May 25, 2019. Our server Jose was great!!! We ordered their famous pizza. I had their Veal Marsala it was just what I expected...delicious. Everything was perfect!

The food was so good. I'm from Wisconsin and in town for business. I had dropped a friend off and was in a sweat shirt, so I was definitely under dressed and probably looked like I couldn't afford my food and as a big black man I have a huge appetite and ordered/ate a lot, but I definitely didn't feel my presence was welcome and I apologize if that is not true, but it how I felt. The food was absolutely worth it otherwise.

I have been here a few years ago with a friend. My kid recently moved to the area, so I picked up dinner for several of us to share. As always, Porto Bello has a warm, friendly atmosphere and the intoxicating unforgettable smell of an Italian grandma’s kitchen. The young people working there have the know how and friendliness of old restaurant pros. Everything was packed perfectly for us to carry. The soups and pastas and cutlets were savory and perfectly cooked. My litmus test is always eggplant parmigiana hero. The eggplant was thinly cut, not oily and melted in my mouth. Portions are generous on top of all that. God bless Porto Bello. Hope you are around forever. PS I ll have to drop in on my kid more often! PSS couldn’t believe the size of the rice balls and they were stuffed to perfection.

Good food. Higher side of average cost. So-so service. Order extra beverages upfront servers unlikley to check in during the meal. Adds a processing fee if paying by credit card.

This place is a great place if you are in the mood for some delicious pasta. Great service, too. Every time I come here, I'm never disappointed.

I was here with a friend for dinner a few of weeks ago. We had a wonderful waitress! She had a great sense of humor and cool personality! We ordered eggplant rollatini, pasta with vodka sauce, prosciutto di Parma brick oven pizza. The food was so good and the service was wonderful! The restaurant was cozy and had a relaxed vibe. Love it there. I've been there before a few times and had the grandma slice to go and I've had the grandpa slice to go and the veggie slice to go. Their pizza is always consistent. 👌

Never disappointed! Food is always excellent! I know they won't but if they had a bar, they would be at the top of the world for me. We had a Cobb salad with grilled chicken, side order of meatballs and mussels in garlic sauce. Oh and 2 Amstel Lights. Awesome!

I love this place! The pizza is amazing, especially the penne vodka slice! I love their garlic knots, and they always provide great service.

Review based solely on their Sicilian pizza (in terms of food). I can not say they make THE best Sicilian I ever had, but, as far as my personal experience goes, this is in my top 5. Place has ample seating; both for grabbing a slice or dine in (at the back of the store). The guy who rang me up was nice. Their prices aren't bad. Only problem I have is they charge you for using CC.

Tasty Italian food in a diner like restaurant. Big portions good enough to share. Good service and family friendly place. They serve delicious calamari. Loved the dessert. The shrimp scampi was a bit lemony to my taste. Everything else was good!

Warning do not eat here!!! I came to here today ordered the chicken piccata. The first bite I took I knew something was off. The texture of the chicken tasted unpleasant with a sour taste. At first I thought the sour taste was coming from the artichoke sauce. When I tried the sauce alone, it tasted fine not sour. I took a second bite of the chicken and spit it right out, the sour taste was coming from the chicken which was obviously old!!! I called the waitress over and told her I wasn't happy with the chicken that it was old. She did take the chicken piccata off my bill but charged me for the pasta it was supposed to come with anyways. She never apologized for what happened. I could have gotten deadly sick if I have not noticed something was wrong right away and spit the food out. Food poisoning is no joke!!! I've been coming here for years, and this place has definitely fallen off. How do you serve customers old chicken!!!

This place used to be good, but has fell off dramatically. Food comes cold often. Priced way too high for low food. Search elsewhere.

Went for dinner with a friend and his family. The service was outstanding everyone was very nice from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. They started the table off with some garlic bread which i think could of had a little more flavor, but it was still good. I ordered a margherifa and added prosciutto and it was ok I've honestly had better. My friend ordered his favorite chicken parmesan but he wasnt a fan it was however a reibig portion. The others are regulars at this place and its their all time favorite so they loved their food. I would recommend though it's definitely popular because all tables were taken, so maybe We were picky lol

I recently had a small house party and ordered a good mix, including appetizers and hot sandwiches. Everything was fresh and delicious and the portion sizes were extremely generous. My guests were so complimentary and appreciative. Thank you to the staff for making my party a success! Mel S.

I've been coming to Porto Bello for years, it's a great family spot and good food. You can eat in or take out. Right when you enter is their pizzeria with high tables to eat, and if you keep walking you will meet the hostess to seat you. If you're in the mood for quick, casual Italian food then this is the place to go. Not a fancy place, super casual. This is definitely a family place, as your'll see its all families who eat here, or elderly couples. Not authentic Italian food, but it's pretty good. Located in a shopping center with free parking there also is a parking lot in the basement for those super busy nights. Their waiters are super attentive and always checking up on you, huge plus for me. My favorite dish: Rigatoni Fiorentina

lately the service has been terrible i've been a customer since 2015 but i'm going to stop now they keep raising prices and service getting worse like i said. workers are rude especially the new girl who takes orders on the phone she's got an attitude ALSO $17.50 for a salad .... these guys lost there minds i work in upper west side and it's $12 there... doesn't make sense.

Just had dinner with my family here. amazing atmosphere and delicious food. Service was great just a little confusion with sitting down for a table. Other then that a beautiful time!

I don't care what anybody says. I know Porto Bello is not a five star restaurant, BUT when you are eating like a king or queen quality fresh Italian, I have to give this restaurant their due. The menu is abundant, but well thought out. The quality of all these dishes are really good for such a vast menu. Fresh Italian food served in large portions is what it's all about and Porto Bello delivers. Wifey had her usual favorite penne Madeira. I had the Filet ol Sole Italian style with zuppa di Mari and a side of garlic linguini. Left super satisfied. Porto Bello will always have me going back.

I've ordered from here one too many times, the food is always late, the prices are always different but the latest order is what is getting the review and caused me to throw away their menu. 1 Large pie with Sausage - The pie was a disgrace, The dough was not cooked...RAW DOUGH, you could pull it off and use it as paste. The cheese and sauce were all over the place and not even cut into slices. Why? because the DOUGH WAS RAW and wouldn't hold all the sauce and cheese. 1 Lasagna - DOG FOOD rejected by my dog - a plate full of slop, couldn't even find the lasagna in the mess and the few noodles and bits of meat that were hidden in the sauce and cheese tasted like absolute garbage. i tried to pawn it off on my poor dog and she ran away from it and the stray cats and raccoons didn't even touch it for the 2 days it sat outside by the trash.

Hello new takeout spot! Don't get me wrong, I love me a good Greek salad, and being in Astoria you can find one at any corner...but there's a difference between a Greek salad, and one of those diner-style "Greek" salads...and sometimes, this chick wants the diner version. Porto Bello to the rescue! I got a greek salad with chicken and it was huge, with a hefty portion of chicken (yay protein!). It was fresh, delicious, and I have so much left over I can feed another person. I also got the eggplant sticks and they're great! A sinful side dish to an overall healthy dinner. Get marinara on the side and dip away. What I like about Porto Bello is it's one of those half-pizzeria-half-sit-down-restaurants that's family run, and you can totally feel it too!

I stopped by here to retry their pizza slices again. Boy, are they so disappointing The restaurant still has a nice ambiance, but two square slices including one square Sicilian was very disappointing. I decided to eat inside to check out how well they were implementing vaccine checks, and the server forgot to ask me if I had been vaccinated. When I found a table and had started eating, then a member came rushing over to check my vaccine status. A bit late as I had eaten most of my meal.

I've ordered twice from this place and it hasn't been the best. I'll start by saying the delivery both times takes FOREVER !!! Took 50 minutes to an hour, never less but they will tell you 30 minutes for delivery. Not like I order much either. Both times same thing. I figured I give it a second chance but I got the same results. The chicken parmigiana is good in flavor but they don't give you much sauce on the over cooked Spaghetti which results in dry and clumpy pasta. I ordered two slices one of the white ricotta cheese and another of the grandma slice with pepperoni. I'll have to say it was such a disappointment !!!!! They were rock-hard extremely cold slices. Not only were they cold but they were so so thin. The grandma slide is suppose to be nice and thick. Probably be the Last time I order from them.

I have no issues with the service here, but as an on-and-off customer for decades, the food went downhill heavily since years ago. The pizza is oily and I can tell the ingredients are lackluster, it literally gave me nausea when I tried a pie last year, which has never happened before, and I have avoided them since. There are simply way better options in the same area for both pizza AND pasta alike. I know it's not just me because their pizza used to be killer. Even if I lived nearby I'd probably walk further away just to get better food.

This is what they cal a pepperoni roll a calzone ... I bought a pepperoni roll the other day and it was skinny and flat all cut in four pieces today it was perfect ... today I receive this !!!!!! This is a huger pepperoni roll than any other pepperoni roll I have ever seen in my life !! The service was disgusting ... they said they didn't have people making deliveries through cash so I went out in the cold to them far btw and asked for this ! I get home and call them and tell me that no worries they are going to send someone to give me the right pepperoni roll 1 hr passes and nothing , I call back and the same lady is like yeah the guys said we gave you a pepperoni roll and then pass me to a guy that keeps asking me did you cut in the middle and I answer it's already cut he's like people don't complain over something being bigger ... then they have the never to say they want me to go to the cold and to return this huge thing in 9 degree weather these people don't care about your welfare oh your time or respect .

My go to place for delivery, we always get the plain pizza pie, it's delicious! The delivery guy is super nice & also the staff in this place are always polite & welcoming. I honestly don't think I would order from any other place, keep it up :)

Order from this place at least once a week, usually over $100 each time. Last order was a mess, mussels closed, mozz sticks not cooked, chicken raw, amongst other minor issues. Called to explain situation and the girl told my wife call back later when we aren't busy and hung up! I called her back and she said like I told your wife "listen to this" and hung up strongly. Food getting worse and customer service is an absolute nightmare.

Great local pizzaria that had dine in options. Fresh sauce & dough. Good quality mozzarella. Small party room available for private events. Love the spaghetti bolognese and the Sicilian pies.

I'm not too crazy about the regular slices but then again I'm hard to please with those. However, the margherita and grandma pizza is really delicious. I can tell the ingredients are high quality especially the sauce. Do come here for that. I do find though that the pies to order suck compared to what they serve by the slice under the glass.

I don't know why I keep coming back, maybe it's the fact it has a parking lot or my order is already pre programmed on my Eat24 app! But damn this place sucks! The pizza is just ok or someone's below ok, depending on witch non Italian makes your pizza. Sometimes it's over cooked or under cooked or way to much dough or not enough sauce. In my younger years I use to enjoy this spot, not no more! Huge amount of indoor seating... On a few occasions, I have seen customers yelling at employees, in pure dissatisfaction of this or that *Free Entertainment* No more being lazy! I will definitely not be returning for a very long long time!

The Woman who picks up the phone is VERY RUDE . I almost hung up the phone to call another pizza spot. She sounded as if she didn't even care and just wanted to get off the phone. I WILL not be ordering out for delivery anymore just because I wouldn't want to talk to her again

I specifically called the restaurant before placing my order on Uber eats to ask for a dish that was not on the menu ( veggie lasagna ) they told me to go back to uber eats to place my order and leave a note for the kitchen. So I did . They did not read any of the notes. They did not send the veggie lasagna they sent pasta with sausage. I told them that I'm a vegetarian on the phone and in the notes !!!!! I asked for spaghetti with lemon butter sauce / they sent spaghetti- dry ass spaghetti. No sauce ! I paid $50 and then to be told they can do nothing about it !!!! F&@$ this place It's not what it used to be , high-quality food high-quality service, now you get shit ! Just some guy that answers the phone who sounds like he's got a pair of balls in His mouth and can't get anything done right !

We ordered two pies and one of them had a sharpie in it! Absolutely disgusting. The girl on the phone agreed to give us a refund and said she will call back once she figures it out. Of course we never got a call back so we called them and the manager talked over me on the phone when I asked for refund. He demanded we give the pizza back which is disturbing and bizarre. Quality of pizza was poor overall. Never ever ever received such horrible service. Any other place would have offered a refund AND a new pizza. This place yelled at us and left us with NO refund or new pizza. Still shocked.

Flagged Content: We know things are tough due to the pandemic but it's more reason to take care of those who are supporting the business. D-for customer service, F- charging a credit card payment fee when paying cash. A paying customer should always be advised of any additional fees before being charged. Food was not good Pizza tasted as it was reheated, crispy doesn't mean burn it. I travel a long way for some good Astoria food and this time it was not worth my time. Hope someone else has a better experience.

Wow. Lately I've been experiencing a hit or miss with Porto Bello, sometimes the pasta isn't seasoned well enough, or there isn't enough sauce in it. But I just ordered my usual dish and it's amazing. Wow! I don't know who's working the kitchen tonight but please high-five yourself because I love you. Self-five yourself. The sauce is plentiful, the pasta is cooked perfectly, my no spinach request was met, the breaded chicken is incredible, the flavor punches me in the face every time I take a bite and that's just what I'm able to utter when I'm not too busy falling into a world of deliciousness. I never write reviews but this is SO GOOD today I re-downloaded Yelp just to express myself. GREAT JOB PORTO BELLO!

The owner should of done a better job informing a party of almost 100 people there wouldn't be any AC. When I confronted the owner he said he knew the night before the party there wasn't going to be any AC. Not the right thing to do letting a 100 people sit in an un air conditioned room full of seniors celebrated a 80 birthday party.

Portobello has been one of the best since they opened 20 years ago? I believe its 20 years ago! Everything from their pizza to their other dishes is fantastic! The owners are amazing, MOST off the staff is amazing and friendly! You wont ever be dissatisfied when you come here and if you are, you must be very difficult to please generally lol Portobello is also one of the very few restaurants to open a long time ago and still remain using great quality food/ingredients....most places these days do not do that, the go cheap on a lot of things to make more money! Not this place. They are always very consistent and that's why I give them 20 stars all the way baby! Xo, customer of 20 years & counting ! (Absolute favorite dish: Greek Salad w/Grilled chicken) ughhhh soooo good, better than all of the greek restaurants!! How? Idk..but it is!!

I have been coming too Porto Bello since they opened. Never disappointed, great sauce, Excellent sized portions, fresh innovative salads and great service. Every other Italian restaurant is a disappointment after PortoBello

This is a solid spot to order from. Their delivery service is ridiculously fast and the food is good. They always forget to bring the requested drinks, which can be annoying. The pizza is always piping hot and has a great sauce to cheese ratio. Prices are comparable to other places in the area. They have a sit-down restaurant, and I went once about two years ago. Honestly, I don't remember anything specific about it either way. This is good because it means I didn't have a bad experience, but it also means nothing about my dinner was memorable. Good pizza is a dime a dozen in NYC, and while Portobello is good, there's nothing extraordinary about it. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here; it's just a nice place with consistent food and service.

Really what happened to the pizza overpriced overrated there's no more Italian Flair in there I'm surprised they're still open

Love love love Portobello....Until now. It's normally a ridiculously tasty menu and surprisingly well priced. I am a fan of their Zuppa de Mussles and I had ordered them yesterday... While I was eating them I came across the cutest thing I have ever seen. I found 2 muscles the side of a pumpkin seed!!!! Never saw that before! I posted a pic. However, when I ordered the garden house salad, it has always been just mixed green leaves salad and these 2 salads I ordered, were mostly mixed with Iceburg lettuce?!!??!! Iceburg is the cheapest lettuce you can buy. At what point did they start to cheapen their reputation and menu? VERY disappointed and won't be buying salads anymore from them. On top of that, the salad also was like 25% smaller than usual...got that people need to make money but this was crazy. Portobello: update your menu description and price so when returning customers know they are not getting what they normally have gotten before. Still disappointed and sad you went down the Iceburg route:( Also your Pasta Fagioli soup has kiddy ring pasta?reminds me of spaghetti "O"'s!...really? The texture of the pasta felt like it was put in simmering hot water rather than hot boiling water that made the gummy texture unappealing. Same thing with the Minestrone soup. Never had pasta in it before...it's strictly a veggie ingredient soup? What's with the pasta in it now? Also the wait staff must have hired new people...ordering over the phone was painful this time...She did not know the menu or items I tried to place without putting me on hold to ask. Yo! It's American style Italian food! Not much to understand. I had her repeat my order and it took like 3 tries to ensure she understood. Makes me NOT wanna order from them anymore. Horrible service, very bad attitudes. Still surprised how they still open and not closed. If they hate their jobs so much, they should just close and retire cause they suck and their food taste plain nasty. Never again!!!!!

This is a good food place for a date or a pizza night. I enjoyed the inside and the feel of the place, the pizza and the chicken parm is very very good. Do not get the mozzarella sticks, they are dry and pretty disappointing. Other than that mostly everything else here tastes great. They deliver too.

I've been coming to Porto Bello for the longest time and they have definitely have gotten better over the years. My go to is the pepperoni pin wheel and the salad slice and that's if I'm not sharing the penne vodka personal with my husband. And this place isn't all about the pizza and Italian dishes, they also have wraps--the chicken semi freddo wrap(doesn't come with fries, need to add) is so good! I've had parties here too and they are always done so nicely. The wait staff whether for the parties or just a night out for dinner, always so nice! I will be coming here for years to come.

This place is terrible. Ordered a large regular pie and it was undercooked and the sauce tasted like tomato paste. People are not wearing masks which is also disturbing. Management is very rude. Do not recommend. Go spend your money somewhere that values you as a customer and has good food.

You should be ashamed of yourselves. Food was ok as was the service considering we showed up with about 40 people after a game. What is UNACCEPTABLE is the fact that you wanted to charge $1.50 per person to only CUT a Birthday cake that we were more than willing to pay and buy from baskin robins next door since you did not have any ice cream cake for that many people.

do not order lunch online here! go somewhere else!! i ordered here because its the closest, i figured fastest delivery, i was wrong! i waited an hour and never got my oreder! terrible! now im reading review and tthisis not the only time it happened, they should really improve thier system! and stop waisting peoples time.

I order from here through Seamless all the time. Today I ordered for my entire family. When we received the order they sent us 2 chicken parms , instead of the 1 we ordered. More importantly, we ordered a cheese ravioli which never came. We were told that we had to return the chicken parm, which I thought was odd, but agreed to. However, they never sent the cheese ravioli. We called several times. They kept telling us it was on the way. This is unacceptable.

Their crust is amazing!!! I'm so happy it's so close by! The bruschetta slice is amazing. Grandmas slice is beautiful! I honestly love everything!

We were in the party room midweek for a private luncheon. All in attendance agreed the food was delicious, particularly the chicken francese, veal marsala, and of course the piping hot bread! The portions were generous and the waitstaff was efficient. It is difficult to park since Porto Bello is located in a shopping center. The main pizzeria looked a bit dated and they could use another ladies room. I would definitely go back because the food itself is the main draw.

So upset I cried. I made a reservation here for 17 people on a Friday night. I made the reservation 2 weeks in advance and confirmed the reservation the day before. When we arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time, we were told that there was not a table to accommodate us. I explained that I made the reservation 2 weeks ago and confirmed the night before. Unapologetically, the girl said to me "I know, I see your reservation right here, but we have no tables for you." OK... we left. I will never be back! So upsetting. Especially since I made it known how upset I was and they had my phone number I gave to make the reservation and no one cared enough to call and apologize for ruining the evening.

I've been coming here for over ten years. I live in the area. The food is consistently delicious and the service is friendly and attentive. I grew up in an Italian family so I know what I'm eating. This is the real thing. Interestingly, I never see the same people behind the counter so I'm not sure if the restaurant has changed owners, but whoever owns the place got the recipe right. It's an old- school neighborhood gem.

Average pizzeria/ restaurant probably wouldn't go back. Calamari was not my favorite, garlic bread was awesome everyone loved it and pasta portion was pretty small, flavor was good but nothing to rave about.

This place used to be our to go place it has turned into crap the soup taste like hot water the pizza was disgusting will not be returning here ever again.

This "restaurant" is never polite and never knows how to handle customers when they messed up orders. This has happened multiple times to me & when I call back and apologize that I'm even complaining because mistakes happen but they have the audacity to just hang up the phone & call it a day and thats how portobello handles customers :)

Porto Bello is a decent Italian pizzeria/restaurant in Astoria. My friend and I recently came here to grab some lunch since some of the other Italian spots in the area can be a bit pricey. In the front is the pizzeria. In the back there are some tables with waiter service. We were still in time for the lunch specials and they all sounded pretty delicious. I swaying toward the shrimp ravioli but ultimately decided to get plain ol' cheese ravioli with baked mozzarella. Our food came out pretty quick and the bread they gave us was very good and helped in soaking up the leftover sauce. The raviolis were yummy and the mozzarella melted on top was perfect. Paying the bill took a bit longer than I would have liked but it did give us some time to digest. Overall, a pretty good Italian spot if you want some standard Italian food and nothing fancy to go along with it.
