The line was super manageable, took about 10 minutes. I came in about 7:15 and got out by 7:28. Sophie S. was super helpful and had great customer service even with my last minute add ons, super patient. The pastries are super delicious and the cake is my brother's favorite!

Elegant and Spacious atmosphere. Active and usually crowded. Yet very attentive staff and quick. Food was delicious well seasoned not overcooked. Outdoor sitting. Lots of parking. I would return again.

We stayed in Downey for our Disney trip, and Porto’s was recommended to us. Prices were amazing, the besito cookies, pumpkin and chocolate items, food and drinks were all delicious. Staff was super friendly, it’s close to walking to distance.

Google
Just had to review this location at Downey because I was really impressed with the customer service from each staff we encountered! From the greeting at the door to the last person going above and beyond. There were 2 lines but didn’t wait much at all after arriving just after 10 am. I haven’t been at Portos in a few years, but the food and pastries are always a classic especially the cheese rolls. Was a little sad to learn they stopped making them mini size. Tried the pumpkin sweet cream matcha and ube matcha latte for the first time. Both are delicious but quite heavy.

There are no 2nd competition like Potos Bakery. Cuban families had dreams and their dreams definitely came through. Best bakery intown. Their bakery quality outstanding , service excellent and atmosphere awesome. I would strongly recommend to visit this place and test it out. Keep up the great work 👍

My friends and I had brunch here on 9/18/2025. Although it was crowded and there was a long line, it did not take that long to get our food. I had their Torrejas (Cuban style french toast). It was delicious and the serving was big. Coffee was good too.

My family and I love the amazing cheese rolls from this place! Even with the long lines, it's always worth the wait. We got there after 7 and it was still packed. This one's bigger than the others, and it's got such a great vibe. You gotta try it.

Google
It’s always great to come back here. Awesome food and great service Despite the long lines, you get your order pretty fast at all times. And the desserts are absolutely delicious (like everything else in this place)

Yelp
Huge shoutout to Cynthia and Brittney from the Cafe side of Portos. Absolutely amazing customer service, great attitudes and amazing recommendations. Victor was also very helpful and friendly to me and my partner. All three made our visit extremely pleasant and made our dining experience more memorable. We'd definitely be coming back & we hope to be helped by them every time we stop by!

Yelp
I usually don't leave reviews for big chains unless something really stands out--and this time it definitely did. Yesterday, I stopped by Porto's to grab a midday pick-me-up for my coworkers. While waiting for my order, I noticed an employee making a drink. Out of curiosity, I asked what it was. Not only did he introduce himself as Hector, but he also took the time to explain the drink to me step by step. Then, since he had a little left over, he offered me a sample to try. It's small gestures like this that remind me why people keep coming back to Porto's--not just for the amazing pastries, but also for the genuine, thoughtful service. Well done, Hector!

Yelp
Porto's never disappoints, but my most recent visit was truly next level thanks to both the food and the outstanding service I received from Orlando. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of fresh-baked pastries, Cuban sandwiches, and perfectly brewed coffee set the stage for what I knew would be a great meal. I ordered a mix of my usual favorites--cheese rolls, potato balls, and a Cubano--and everything was spot on: flaky, savory, and full of flavor that only Porto's can deliver. What really stood out, though, was Orlando. He went above and beyond to make the experience warm and welcoming. He was not only attentive and efficient, but also genuinely kind, with the type of energy that makes you feel like a valued guest instead of just another customer in line. He offered great recommendations, made sure everything came out quickly and fresh, and carried himself with the type of professionalism that leaves a lasting impression. It's one thing to come to Porto's for the food (which is always phenomenal), but when you're treated with the level of care and enthusiasm Orlando brings, it elevates the entire experience. It's rare to find service that matches the quality of the food so perfectly, but Orlando embodies that balance effortlessly. I'll keep coming back to Porto's for the incredible Cuban flavors--but thanks to Orlando, I'll also be coming back for the incredible hospitality.

Yelp
Since I'm from the Bay, it's been awhile since the last time I had Porto's. I was happy to find out that a Porto's was a 5 minute walk from my hotel during a recent trip to Southern California. I arrived on a late Wednesday evening an hour before closing. The bakery is located in a nice area in downtown Downey. There is parking accessible on the streets and in the parking garage. This Downey location is the last Porto's location that I have been to now. The decor is nicely modern and clean. It looks fairly large and well organized inside. I have been a huge Porto's fan for a long time. Their pastries, sandwiches, specialty drinks, etc have been consistently high quality and the prices have not gone up with inflation. The loyalty and devotion with customers is tremendous. I ordered my usual favorites, guava strudel, guava cheese strudel, cheese rolls, potato balls, meat pies, and chocolate chip cookie, Everything is always so delicious, fresh, and scrumptious. The guava strudel is my ultimate favorite. The combination of the guava and crunchy flakiness of the pastry is delectable. Overall I enjoyed my experience at Porto's Bakery Downey. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cafe vibe was inviting and bustling. It was so nice to be back and indulge in some of my favorite pasties.

Yelp
I love this place. I enjoyed everything I have ever eaten here. The service is always great the staff is friendly and detailed. It was after 5pm and the place was busy but moving fast. It's always a good vibe when dining in or picking up.

Yelp
I'm a Porto's groupie. I have been to several locations over the years (Downey, Glendale, Buena Park, Northridge, and now West Covina). I appreciate Porto's consistency and quality of their food, drinks, and pastries, without compromisng customer service or cleanliness in their environments. This location is in Downey off of Firestone Blvd., Let's jump right into this review. Everything is good in my opinion. I'm just saying. Somethings will be a palette preference but it's all good. Look good. Taste good. Smells good. Here are my favorites: 1. Meat pies - Puff pastry filled with Rosa's original picadillo (Cuban-style ground beef with onion, bell pepper, olive, and Spanish seasonings. 2. Empanada - A hand pie filled with Cuban-style chicken fricassee (slow-cooked chicken breast, carrot, raisins, peas, onion, tomato sauce, and Spanish seasonings). * other options available * 3. Potato balls - A classic and signature treat that consist of potato puree filled with Rosa's original picadillo (Cuban style ground beef with onion, bell pepper, olive, and Spanish seasonings) with a crispy panko crust. * other options available * 4. Fruit tart - A buttery tart topped with a layer of Rosa's original sponge cake, vanilla custard, and an assortment of fresh fruit including locally grown, California strawberries and blueberries, imported mangoes, and other seasonal fruit.  5. Smoothies - Guava and Mango are my top choices. Given the quality of ingredients and portion size; I find prices reasonable. Pros 1. Food is delicious 2. Presentation of items is superb. Glass displays are kept clean and given the volume of traffic - I don't know how it is done. 3. Reasonable prices. 4. Clean establishment from inside to the outside surroundings. Tables are clean quickly and put back into rotation given the foot traffic. 5. Has vegetarian/vegan options. Cons 1. Busy. Busy. Busy. Always a line. Note: The lines are moving, but, sometimes you want to walk into a place and not have to get into a line wrapped around the building. True testament to the quality of food...people willing to wait. 2. Parking is a challenge. Hopefully luck is on your side or you visit early. There is a lot and street parking. I recommend Porto's to anyone. Go ahead, satisfy your taste buds.

Yelp
I popped in on my birthday to get myself a cake (Parisian looks nice and tastes good) as well as a bunch of pastries to try. Things I enjoy getting -- guava strudel, Napoleon, tiramisu cups, and dolce the leche kisses. Service was fast, as usual. A bit disappointing that they don't have any birthday discounts. The place was crowded, as it usually is, but lines move fast. Overall not a bad experience.

Yelp
Love Porto's! There is a parking structure available, but also street parking and another parking structure walking distance from Porto's. There may be a long line to get in but trust me, it goes by quickly!! You can order online to pick up if that's easier but I usually write what I want on a note and show it to the person helping so it's easier since it can get loud in there while everyone talks. My family and I love their cakes and desserts and breads! I tried the iced Ube matcha latte and it tasted good would rate it a 3.5/5.

Yelp
Not bad. I don't completely understand all the hype, however it ain't bad. Beautiful place though, and quite the variety, it's just not my thing. I'd say it's definitely worth stopping by at least once though.

Yelp
Whether you come in for a quick pick-me-up, a sweet treat, or for a large group gathering, Porto's never disappoints!! This location definitely holds up!! There's plenty of parking for this spot between the garage in the back and a few closer spots out back (just note those are 1-hour limit with signs in front). Inside, it's spacious with two floors of seating, and everything is super clean, plus it smells amazing as soon as you walk in. The café has a great selection, though not all of the drinks are listed on the menu, so it's worth asking if you're looking for something specific. Drinks were made well, and the prices are really affordable for the quality you get. I also noticed quite a few people studying with laptops, so it seems like a nice spot if you want to get some work done, too. Clean bathrooms are also a big plus! Overall, a great branch with fast service, good energy, and all the Porto's favorites. Definitely one of those reliable places that delivers every time.

Yelp
TL;DR Red velvet cake is delicious. Dulce de leche kisses and cuban crackers are great. Nutella kisses, chocolate moussse cake and breakfast wrap are okay. Staff is friendly and efficient. Stopped by a few days ago for breakfast and went with their wrap. Thought it was decent, but not something I'd personally reorder. Didn't enjoy the combination of the ingredients. It had eggs, pork, black bean spread, guacamole, cotija cheese, and salsa verde, but the cheese was the only thing that kind of stood out. The pork wasn't very flavorful and the beans, eggs and guacamole were a bit bland. Even though breakfast wasn't great I still love this place. The red velvet cake is delicious. I also grab their cuban crackers and a few dulce de leche kisses sometimes. The Nutella Kisses and Chocolate Mousse Cake are okay. Prices are still pretty fair. Pastries range from 2-5 dollars and whole cakes like the red velvet cost $35. While this cafe gets busy often, they are efficient and the line goes by quickly. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. I'll always come back for that cake!

Yelp
7:30am on a Friday morning and the crowd for a Porto's never disappoints! We got here and parked at the back parking structure since there were many cars parked already. We came in and lined up at the cafe line to order ourselves some drinks (matcha tea lattes) and a fresh fruit tart. You can choose nondairy milks such as soy, almond, or oat. The interior of this Porto's is clean, organized, and I see staff picking up small bits of trash on the floor if needed. For pick-up/online orders, you walk in to the left. If you don't know though, there are staff to help guide you in which direction to go. There's no pets allowed inside but you can still bring your dogs out and enjoy in the ourdoor patio seating. We waited a while to take our order, since there was only 1 person taking them, so despite only 3 people in front of us on line, it took quite a while. However getting our orders went by quickly compared to taking them and we got to lounge and enjoy! The drinks were smooth, creamy, and they also have paper straws but I'd much rather prefer sipping through the lids. You pick up the drinks from the coffee bar area by the way. I also noticed that there's servers with trays that hand out drinks or your food to your table so I don't know what constitutes getting that service VS waiting next to the bar to hear your name getting called.

Yelp
Porto's has great choice of pastries and cakes. This place always has long but fast moving lines. There are separate lines for just cakes and for everything else. There is plenty of seating inside and on the outdoor patio. The ambiance is lively and welcoming. You can also order ahead for pick up. From the savory section, the potato ball, cheese and spicy potato ball, meat pie and sweet corn croquette are all delicious. From the sweet section- cheese roll, guava and apple strudels are great. You can't go wrong with milk n' berry or the Parisian chocolate cake.

Yelp
This Porto's Location has always been one of my favorites and nostalgic one for me. I remember coming by here when it first opened and it was such a nice spot. The parking garage nearby is a plus since all Porto's are ALWAYS busy. The location here runs very efficiently and the lines move quick. The customer service from the staff is phenomenal. The location is spacious. The inside has plenty of tables. The outdoor seating as well has table all around the building. Porto's is constantly adding new food items and drinks. There's so many items to choose from in terms of pastries, cakes, sandwiches and drinks. There's gonna be something for everyone! On a recent visit, we decided to dine in and try some new things. The line moved fairly quickly for busy Saturday evening. This trip I tried the Clam Chowder inside the sourdough bread bowl. I'm not sure if this was a new item, but I wanted to try it. The clam chowder was freaking delicious! The presentation looked good and the taste of the chowder was luscious. The bowl reminded me of the Disneyland Clam Chowder bowl. The chowder wasn't too salty and the bacon was delectable. The sourdough bread was airy and crispy. No complaints! Porto's Downey is a top tier location!

Yelp
Although it is crowded, the line went fast. It just gave you enough time to browse the cakes! And the servers are very nice and helpful. And the pastries are always yummmy!

Yelp
Controversial take... Porto's is not the best thing since sliced bread. The food is good but not out-of-this-world. Service can be a hit or miss. But the one thing you can't argue with is the amazing value. Porto's has a cult following and for a good reason. The history is amazing and inspiring. Their offerings are solid and their prices are on point. The one place where you are constantly surprised at how low the bill is which is a huge plus in this economy. Your money goes a long way here and the portions are generous. That being said, I find myself not loving most of the offerings, considering them overly sweet and even sugary. Also, while most can't get enough of the potato balls, I much prefer the ham croquettes. Similarly, everyone praises the Cubano sandwich but I've found myself liking some of their other sandwiches more. Their Mango smoothie would be amazing if it wasn't as sweet; same with the guava strudel. Their fresh fruit tarts are solid but that's hard to mess up. The lines can get crazy. This location has a good amount of seating. It seems like the staff expects you to know exactly what you want and just move everything along quickly without much fanfare and explanation. Service level has ranged from outstanding to pretty poor over the years so don't expect consistency. Over the years, it seems like some of the magic has worn off and the place seems just a tad bit overrated nowadays which I probably wouldn't have said a few years ago. Overall, Porto's bakery has built a cult following for their multitude of generous options at amazing values and everyone should try it at least once.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong: I love Porto's for their inexpensive prices for cheese rolls, potato balls, and sandwiches! However, my experience with this Porto's location was extremely disappointing. How does this location run out of potato balls at 3pm on a Tuesday?! So absurd!! That's absolutely unacceptable, especially when I had to drive over 30 minutes to this location, specifically to get their popular pastries. Knowing that potato balls are one of their more popular items, their staff should have better production management of it for their customers. Do better Porto's at Downey. The wait at this location is also SO long because the workers are so clueless and don't know how to hustle. There's no sense of urgency in them. I definitely recommend the Glendale location more than this one. The workers at the Glendale location are quick on their feet and on multiple occasions, have given me extra pieces of cheese rolls and potato balls free of charge. Even though it is farther than the Downey location, I would much rather drive to Glendale next time for quicker service and GUARANTEED potato balls in the middle of the day. Only pro about this location: free parking, clean and spacious with lots of seating inside and outside.

Yelp
Was in the area for business. First time trying Porto's in person. I've alway's had stuff people brought to parties. Upon entering the door, I was immediately greeted. The place is clean and busy. There's a line on two sides but they move super quick here. There's so much to choose from. Ended up getting the Plata de Lechon. It was very very tasty. It was so good, I wish they gave a little more. Will definitely be back for more!
google avatar

Yelp
In my experience Service is always helpful, attentive, and responsive. Friendly too. Line to get in may be long but don't fret, they're well organized and you'll get to the fri t counter before they run out of the potato balls (or what ever delicacy you're looking for). I must share tho I got scammed by a woman loitering outside of Porto's she was sitting there crying her heart out and it broke my husband and my heart and so I sat next to her and she gave me a sob story about living in a motel and being short $43 dollars. ( I never carry much cash but I gave her everything I had which was $15). I even offered to Zelle her the $43 but she said she had her phone stolen and also her bank was on a hold ‍ glad I didn't though bcz after observing it appeared the woman was either really in a bad situation or a good actress bcz she would continue to sob and then another kindhearted person would sit by her and fork out cash so yeah I guess we should be aware of possible panhandlers using creative tactics to get money, not to say in certainty this woman was swindling all the Porto's patrons but just mentioning so we can all. BE aware .. anyway I have since ordered online for deserts and my husband just went to pick up for me and I'll be back to our favorite dessert and I must add their cold coffee is amazing too!!

Yelp
Great location. Super fast service, very busy but the staff is aware of busyness that take care of you meeting all your purchases a good experience . Food like always super delicious including the coffee super yummy! They play old fashion cuban music that makes your stay so wonderful , I wish we have one in San Diego !! When I go to LA I have to go to get some of the Cuban foods!!

Yelp
Well, if you know you know! I've tried many different kinds of products from Portos bakery, but this was the first time I actually went to a location! Prior, it was either mailed to me (frozen) or my husband picked it up. When we arrived at 10:30 AM the place was packed and when I say packed, I mean there was a line out the door about 50 people long!! But the reason I gave them a 5-star reviews is because they work like a well oiled machine! That line went very quickly, and then there was a line inside. I'd say from the beginning to someone taking our order was probably a total of 15 minutes! The young guy who helped us was so patient and friendly. Okay, so the way it went was a worker comes to the counter and asks what you want, you give them your entire order, then that person works to fill the complete order. Then, they bring your boxes to the cashier. Cashier will ask you if you want anything to drink or anything else before she rings it up. From the gal in charge of the line, to the young guy who helped us, to the cashier, and the person who brought our food to the table--every single person had a smile on their face and was kind and helpful! The bakery is clean, the cake and pastry displays were immaculate not a spot on them. There's seating both inside and outside. We ordered an assortment of both sweet and savory to go, then we ordered two breakfast sandwiches to eat there which arrived at our table within 10 minutes. Everything was warm and gooey. Yum. The pastries were light and flaky and had the perfect texture and the right amount of filling. The coconut and the guava are two of our very favorite pastries. The chicken empanadas and the meat pies are two of my favorite savory foods. When I order them frozen for delivery, and bake them myself, they always come out perfect as if I bought them fresh at the bakery. I really can't say enough good things about this company--they just have everything that a business should; excellent quality, wonderful service, and a clean establishment! I recommend if you are anywhere near Portos find a location and go-you will not be disappointed!!

Yelp
Based on one visit with i out from family that comes here a fair amount. This is a local chain of about half a dozen locations that has interesting history and roots starting with the founder, Rosa Porto leaving Cuba and moving to California. According to what I read online, She couldn't find a job as a baker due to the fact she was a woman so she started her own business. And so it began. The restaurant we visited in Buena Park is modern, stylish and the largest cafe of this type I have ever seen. It's not quaint or quiet if thats what you are looking for. What it is.....is an amazing machine that creates wonderful pastries, cakes, sandwiches and pretty good coffee. As we are from Ohio We ordered a number of cakes, pastries, coffees and croquettes as we would eat them during the week as we are staying with family here. Everything we had was good to great. What I was even more impressed by was the operations of this place. A massive kitchen with a army if staff working in harmony to produce the food. Wow. There are many places to sit or take it to go like many seem to do. There are a few drawbacks. One, is it is confusing to order and learn how to order. There are three lines, two large and one for a cafe.the large lines have the sandwiches, cakes and pasties and the cafe has coffee and it seems certain (all?) pastries. Our family told us order sandwiches cakes and pastries as well as coffee at one of the two large lines then pick up coffee at the cafe......but if you only want a coffee and a pastry, you can order at the cafe. Would have never figured that out on my own. The other challenge is this place is a victim of its own success: It is CRAZY crowded...even on less busy days. On holidays that lines go out the building and around the block. You can decide if it is worth it as each persons tolerance for crowds varies, mine is low. The parking lot is huge but finding a spot is an adventure. No kidding, they need a parting garage. I have been all over the world and never seen a cafe this large and busy. I must say even if you don't like stressful parking situations and large crowds, come here once. Its a spectacle. The place we visited in Buena Park is basically a cafe adventure park. Modern and with good food. I thinks Rosa would never have imagined her business would become this successful.

Yelp
Big thanks to Hector at Porto's! He took the time to explain a drink he was making - a delicious matcha ube - and even shared a sample because we were so curious about it. Amazing service on top of the great pastries--people like him make us want to keep coming back!

Yelp
Amazing customer service! everything tasted good and had amazing quality. I had Myles help me out with some things I needed when it came to getting my food, and good advice on what to order next time. Job well done! Looking forward to come back again!

Yelp
As someone not even living in California, Porto's is so well known, that I knew this was a spot I needed to visit when I came to town. And it exceeded my expectations! First of all, the extent of the menu itself can already be so overwhelming just because there are so many options. And they all look so good! And then second of all, ok good food yeah but it's California, surely it will be expensive. Nope, I was surprised by how cheap everything was! And thirdly, the food itself was delicious. Nothing is too sweet, the pastries hold up really well the next day, and the savory menu items really hit the spot. Some things to note: It seems a little inconsistent with what they heat up for you, so you might have to say something if you want your order warmed up. The iced strawberry matcha green tea latte was really good. But I didn't taste as much matcha as I did strawberry. The cheese and spicy peppers potato ball wasn't really spicy at all.

Yelp
This was my first time ever here and let me Tell you I will be back! My goodness they have such good food! My favorite was the mango burst and the honey vanilla matcha latte! The service was nice and our lady who helped us was beyond amazing with her customer service! Next time for a full experience I will dine in

Yelp
The place is really crowded with long lines. The food & the pastries are priced somewhat reasonable but taste just so so. I have to wait one whole hour for my sandwich order which is totally UNACCEPTABLE. By this time, the food were cold and tasteless. They claimed the little alarm thing does not work properly but did not offer me even a single apology. I swear this is my last time ever at Porto's. BTW, the parking situation is horrible also. It takes me about 30 minutes to find a parking space.

Yelp
LA's pride and joy, Porto's does not disappoint! It really is the perfect cafe to pick up birthday or festive baked goods from! I love their coffee, their tres leches cake, and empanada. The cheese ball with veggies inside was not good. There was a longggg line but the service was good and efficient!

Yelp
Ordered a couple of my favorite items from Porto's: the Ropa Vieja plate (a stewed beef dish with rice, black beans and fried plantains) & the Cubano sandwich (slow roasted pork, ham, swiss cheese & mustard with a sliced pickle). The sandwich is a decent Cuban sandwich. But the all-star of the menu, in my opinion, is the Ropa Vieja. Porto's makes my favorite Ropa Vieja--it's packed with savory beef and they have more of a tomato base than other Ropa Vieja that I've had at other restaurants. Along with the beans and white rice, it makes a perfect combination of Latin flavors that has had me coming back for years! Definitely a must try!

Yelp
The staff is a well oiled machine here at Porto's in Downey. Service is friendly and efficient, and of course the baked good are delicious! I wanted to walk in and buy a cake for a birthday on a Saturday around 10am. I was not prepared for the long line that wrapped a couple times inside & lead outside. Plus, when I checked their website, online orders were backed up until 2:30pm. I decided to wait on line for a little so see how it went, and I'm glad I did! It only took me about 5 mins to wait outside and about another 8 minutes inside until I was helped at the counter. Getting baked goods to go is quick, but drinks do take a bit longer, since some are made to order. I have never eaten here so I can't speak to that. But the interior is nice and open, and it would be nice for brunch/lunch! If you are taking goods to go and can remember to order online pick up ahead, I highly recommend that, but if not, know that the line does move pretty quick!

Yelp
We got a: - cubano - medianoche - 6 potato balls - 2 guava & cheese pastries - 1 multigrain loaf All for $35! Their prices are reasonable and the flavors are good. The medianoche is good, the bread is solid. I wish it came with more chips. The guava & cheese pastry was very light on the guava though. And the potato balls are probably what they're most known for. The ones are this location aren't the best I've had of the various Porto's. This location is BUSY on weekends. Line out the door, down the block busy. The line moves quickly though & you can order for pickup to avoid it. They're very efficient and the service is good. Lots of seating inside. Lots of free parking nearby.

Yelp
Ah, this review update has been in my drafts for some time so, I had to clear my drafts out. A plethora of reviewers have consistently raved about the food from the savory potato balls, sandwiches, meat pies to the delicious sweets in the bakery. All of it is solid. My favorite reigning champ is the potato ball with ground beef. There is also the seasonal turkey potato ball which I've tried a while back, tasty but not my favorite. As for sweets, the cheese roll pastry is delicious! The weekend lines are long but the staff keeps it moving. Staff that I have encountered are super efficient and nice. Parking in the nearby structure is very busy. If you are not a fan of the structure and okay with walking a block or two, street parking is available. 4 stars.

Yelp
Wow, this particular places was PACKED in a Sunday. But dont worry, the lines are fast and efficient. You wait in the long line, once it's your turn, you place all your orders with the staff and they will get everything for you. You the pay and head on your way. Do try their sandwiches. My favorite is their turkey sandwich! It is so devine! Of course, grab a dozen cheese rolls (or two) and dont forget to get some of their potato balls, guava cheese rolls, and them plantain chips!

Yelp
There's nothing like Porto's. This location has the best employees. Ishbak was beyond sweet and helpful. Amaya was quick and patient. Barista Fernando was sweet. Everyone was amazing. 5 stars!!! Highly recommend

Yelp
It was my first time at the downey location and I was surprised at how easy and accessible parking is. Granted we came at 5pm on a weekday and I'm certain it is probably a bit more difficult during their peak hours. Line was quick to order our food and desserts. I absolutely love the quality of the bread. Each sandwich had the perfect softness and crunch with each bite. Fernanda who was working the dining area was sweet and attentive to everyone. They also had latin music playing in the background! I was totally feeling their music selection. Everyone who knows Portos loves it. Tip- take a sweater. It gets cold inside.

Yelp
finally a new location visit for me since I almost 10/10 times go to the burbank or glendale location only. so I was very excited to see this new store front and compare it to the others. When you walk in the same concept as the rest. two lines and barista center right in the middle. Same menu, same lines, same quality tasting baked goods! so of course I got the cheese rolls and guava cheese rolls. Along with the other pick ups that I normally get. However, this was my first time seeing the horchata cold brew so I couldn't pass that up at all this time and ordered it. the horchata cold brew was sooo goood! It had the perfect blend of sugar and cinnamon! I enjoyed every sip of it! Service is great, fast, and very easy! Just say parking sucks here but if your lucky you can find parking in the back in the small garage they have. Thanks portos for another great visit and great tasting baked goods and coffee!

Yelp
Letty made our experience seamless. She patiently waited while my indecisive self ordered and was a helping hand when I needed to gather all the stuff I purchased. She knew I had my hands full with my kids so she tried to accommodate me beyond her actual duties. Thank you for the spectacular service. Food was top tier as always.

Yelp
Porto's is the American dream. It's Cubans making a French pastry that tasted like a Mexican dessert to the masses of LA. It does not fail, does not do too much, does not charge too much, and is worth whatever drive and wait in line it takes to get in the building. Los Angeles has many faults, a large one in fact, but this place is Spider-Man holding the bridge together.

Yelp
I've been going to Porto's for so many years now, and I never get enough of it. Porto's is a family owned Cuban Bakery and Café with roots in Cuba. The first bakery opened in the US in 1976 with the first Location in Echo Park. It is the creation of Rosa Porto, an immigrant from Cuba. The Location that i like to visit is the Buena Park one. Their stores are large and very well laid out and organized, with the coffee shop separated from the Café and from the Bakery. It is always packed. The atmosphere is fun and very lively. As you walk in, you are greeted by a smiley and friendly host who directs you to the shortest of 2 ordering lines. As you walk in, you can also see the bakers through a window, working on their craft. Inside, you feel like you are in a large food court in a foreign Country. They offer delicious fast food versions of traditional Cuban dishes such as Pollo Asado (Grilled Chicken) and Ropa Vieja which are my 2 favorite plates on the Café menu. The Chicken is tender and is topped with a Lemony, tomato and herb salsa. The Ropa Vieja is a shredded beef cooked to perfection in a tomato based sauce. Plates are served with a side of steam rice, black beans and Maduras (fried sweet plantain). And Sandwiches are served with plantain chips. Dip the rice into any of the sauces and add a piece of chicken or Shredded beef for a full burst of flavors in your mouth. They also have really good soups and salads. But what they are most known for is the Bakery. They make beautiful and unique cakes for all occasions. They have a ton of delicious individual french style baked goods such as the éclair and much more. They also have all types of breads including baguettes. They have bite size goods such as guava rolls, empanadas and potato balls. The options are endless. The coffee shop has all sorts of specialty coffee mixes. And they also have really good smoothies. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. And in a world of inflation, their prices are so reasonable. In fact. I don't think that they have increased at all. It's one of the happiest places if not the happiest place that I've visited over the years. I Love Porto's bakery, i highly recommend it and i will keep going back

Yelp
I've been enjoying Porto's for some years now, but I haven't had a chance to write a review! The last time I visited this Portos location was on Wednesday, October 9th a little after 9:30 AM to pick up some goodies for my coworkers' birthday. This place was sure packed on a weekday morning. I easily placed an order and paid online at 6:30 AM (right when it opened) for pickup later in the morning. I ordered the following (prices as of October 2024): ++Dozen Cheese Roll - $12.95 - Puff pastry with European-style butter with signature cream cheese filling, topped with sugar. - Buttery goodness, this is so yummy! Definitely leans on the sweeter side. It's tasty when warmed up or by itself in regular room temperature. ++Dozen Potato Ball - $15.85 - Potato puree filled with original picadillo (Cuban style ground beef with onion, bell pepper, olive and Spanish seasonings) with a crispy panko crust - More bang for your buck when you buy in dozens vs one by one. I love these potato balls, especially with some ketchup lol. So good. They also came piping hot so don't forget to air out the box when you deliver them (the box was warped when I brought it out). ++ Chocolate Raspberry Round - $31.75 - chocolate cake layered with signature whipped choc ganache + raspberry jam. Finished with dark choc ganache + white/dark choc curls. - Delicious, this was the first time I tried this cake. Since my in-laws usually order the Parisian Chocolate Round. This cake is decadent, definitely leans on the sweet side. But, I like how this cake is a mix of chocolate with a small layer of fruity raspberry jam. I also ordered separately: ++2x Almond Croissant $5.30 - Croissant made with Euro style butter filled with almond cream and topped wit sliced CA almonds and powdered sugar - This was the first time trying an almond croissant from Portos and it did not disappoint. It was a decent size and hit the spot. ++2x Meat Pie $2.80 - Puff pastry filled with picadillo -Pretty yummy, my husband wolfed it down when I brought it back home. The interior is the same as the regular potato balls ++Refugiado $1.35 - Guava and Cheese Roll - Puff pastry with signature cream cheese filling and guava jam -A classic, I always like guava cheese rolls from Portos. I ended up gifting this to my coworker :) Parking: They have their own parking structure available, which can get busy with people coming in and out. Since this was the first time I came to this store by myself, I actually parked in a nearby lot not too far away. This lot was a little bit more calm to get in and out. Tip: I highly recommend placing an online order for pickup. Unfortunately, you can only do this on the same day, but it saved me a lot of time coming into the store since the pickup line moved faster than the regular line. All in all, I'll definitely consider coming back the next time I'm craving Portos!

Yelp
Great as always! They have much longer lines on the weekends, but on the weekdays it's a pretty short weight very affordable! Great place to catch up with a friend or to cater from. I love their medianoche Sandwich. I also really love their potato balls, cheese rolls, guava pastries you really can't go wrong. The service is also really great everybody. There is really nice and wants to help out.

Yelp
Portos is my go to spot for delicious breakfast and pastries on the go. The items I regularly order are: potato balls, cheese rolls, plantain chips, and the cubano sandwich. For cakes, I really like their mango mousse cake and the milk n berries cake. I recently tried their pumpkin cheesecake... boy is it delicious!! Possibly my favorite pumpkin cheesecake so far! It's made with a chocolate cookie crumb pie crust, the flavor is on point and it's not overwhelmingly sweet. I wish I bought the whole pumpkin cheesecake but that would be a bad idea lol Service is always fast, nice and on point. I haven't had any bad experiences at any of their locations yet. The lines are long but it always goes by quick. The parking lot is busy but I've always had luck with finding a spot since there's a lot of people leaving. Definitely worth the trip!
