Postino - Review - Bryker Woods - Austin - The Infatuation

"This Arizona-based wine bar first expanded to Austin last year, with a location next to Paperboy on South Lamar. Now they’ve added a second location near 35th and MoPac with a similar menu of small plates, snacks, cheese and charcuterie boards, and, of course, wine. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Nicolai McCrary

Wine Bar Chain Postino Is Opening in Austin, Texas | Eater Austin

"I'm told Postino Wine Cafe will open a Bryker Woods location at 1612 West 35th Street sometime in 2025, bringing the chain's cafe-style approach to Austin. The menu and beverage program are expected to mirror the brand's usual offering: a global wine list focused on European, Pacific Northwest, Californian, South American, and Australian wines (no Texas), available by the glass or bottle, plus Texas beers, lemonades, palmers, coffee, and teas, and New American lunch and dinner dishes like panini, bruschetta boards, and salads. The chain began in 2009 under founders Lauren Bailey and Craig DeMarco with the Upward Projects group and already operates in other Texas cities such as Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio." - Nadia Chaudhury

The menu was so full of items we love!! We had to try several things and they were all fantastic. We started with the Olives and a Crispy Cauliflower, which had the most delicious Romesco sauce. So well balanced-kissed with sultana raisins and capers. Likely the BEST snacks items we’ve ever eaten! My dining partner chose Nick’s Board-NICK'S BOARD includes a warm soft pretzel, italian sausage, spanish pork link, creamy pimento cheese, spicy peruvian corn nut, sweety drop pepper, & packo pickle. It was a fairly conservative choice but ended up being the perfect choice for someone’s palate that prefers non spicy food! (however I must warn you the two pickle slices that were absolutely fabulous and had a heat level of about nine out of 10 were delicious as well)! Our host Michael, our server Ellie and the bartender Kira were all so special , & sweet and gave us incredibly good service. It was so nice to see such a variety of people all having a great time and enjoying themselves. Postino is definitely a solid addition to the eclectic variety of restaurants available in Austin. Thank you Postino for such a wonderful experience! I’ll definitely be back .

We stopped in for a weekday Happy Hour and had a wonderful experience. The food was fantastic. We had meatballs, mushroom fondue , and the salmon board. Small pitchers of beer are $6. I had a fantastic non -alcoholic rose that was fantastic. Our bartender Andrew was very friendly and made us feel right at home. We most certainly will be back soon. The vibe is really fun. There is an outdoor seating area when the weather cools down a bit. Plenty of parking too !

We’re longtime Postino fans from when we first discovered them randomly in Arizona and have also popped into their South Lamar location in Austin. It's been super fun seeing them expand and try out all their locations across the states, so when they opened their new Bryker spot! And wow — they nailed it! The space is so cute and chic which is their typical theme across all locations. Its the perfect place for happy hour (which, btw, is still one of the best drink specials in town!). $6 glasses of wine and $6 Mini pitchers (basically 2 beers) everyday until 5pm! Our server Matt especially deserves a shoutout. EASILY one of THE BEST servers we’ve had — SUPER knowledgeable about the wine list, didn’t skip a beat when the wine I wanted was out, and even brought a couple of samples so I could pick a replacement I’d actually enjoy. That’s next-level service. We wanted to try some new bruschetta's we hadn't yet (outside of their salmon cause that one is straight a need in your life if you love pesto and cold smoked salmon) board we chose was: Mushroom Mascarpone (Man oh man, creamy earthy delicious!) French Onion (Holy crap this dropped our jaw) Elotes (good, but the hot sauce kinda took over) Salmon Pesto (A favorite because it's so fresh and balanced) Outside of the Elotes being a little too hot sauce forward, every single bite was phenomenal! The bread was so fluffy, all the flavors popped and were dangerously easy to chow down on! We had been eyeballing the OMG grilled cheese for a while now and finally decided to pull the trigger with a little modification. Matt recommended adding a chicken skewer inside cause he knew we were into all the protein and was a go to item for him. Adding the skewer made it more of a chicken sandwich then it feeling like a grilled cheese, but regardless it was super tasty, especially dunking it into the thick creamy tomato soup, so yes, the name fits. Overall: delicious food, great ambiance and place to socialize over fun snacks, some heartier plates, incredible wine options and of course an unbeatable happy hour, not to forget the standout service. We’d 1000% go back again.

We stopped by Postino for some bruschetta and nonalcoholic drinks, and it was such a great experience! The variety they offer is impressive, especially with their vegetarian-friendly options. Each bruschetta had its own unique flavor — the artichoke spread was delicious, the French onion was rich and flavorful, and the classic mozzarella with tomato and basil was perfectly fresh. I especially loved the fig spread and apple butter combination — so unique and tasty! Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and fun to share. We’ll definitely be coming back again to try more.

Came here with reservation and seated at the round table with very cozy chair. Love! Came here with my son. This is the third Postino review for Yelp event I did! But this Postino has that classier cozier feel. We had the bruschetta board: choices---prosciutto, fig and mascarpione, smoked salmon with pesto, burrata, bacon arugula and tomato, fresh mozzarella with tomato and basil. Had the novia azul wine-smooth yet strong. We also ordered the smoked salmon board because this is one of my faves in Postino. Shout out to Matt as he was very pleasant---checked on us regularly. His service really made us feel at home! The notes you can write and stick on the wall was a nice touch. Clean restrooms with that almost Tuscan feel handwashing area. The lighting, food, wine and the service was superb. A little bit crowded---but not loud. Parking was not easy at peak times I gathered. Highly recommended:)

Google
Loved this place! Stumbled across it just looking for a new lunch spot and I’m so glad we did. Food was delicious! Make sure you try the bruschetta taster- all the flavors we picked were delicious! (Salmon, prosciutto, artichoke, and French onion). The staff was so friendly and the service was quick. Will definitely be back for HH again.

Google
Let's see: Postino is what you'd expect from the current wave of "social dining" spots: it's airy, industrial but cozy, with a patio for when Texas weather decides to be cooperative. The wine list isn't mind-blowing, but the Antioch Red Zinfandel stole the show for me. It's fruit-forward and honestly the only red I'd go back for when dealing with "by the glass" options on the menu. Onto the bruschetta board: my options were (you get four) the artichoke, the Caprese , the date & pistachio with ricotta, and the mushroom with mascarpone. Flavor? Super solid. Everything you would expect from the combinations of flavors they put together. The caprese one could have used a balsamic drizzle or something, but I enjoyed my selections. The presentation, though? Tame. A little boring. And I'm used to sliced ciabatta for bruschetta, but the sort of rustic country bread slices they use are hearty and they hold up nicely to the toppings. Just know each slice of toast is very petite... then it's cut even smaller for sharing. Translation: don't come starving. Come to socialize and be cute. What I paid for: the potato leek soup was divine. It was creamy and savory with a lovely hit of caramelized onions. The hazelnut/peanut mousse bar was cute. It's made for more "solo indulgence" than for sharing because it is SO so small...which sucks cause it could be a good sexy sharable dessert for date nights but that size won't cut it Crushed hazelnuts on top would have also been nice. Parking? Slimmer than Kendall Jenner. Get creative and find spots adjacent or around the area during busy hours. They have quite a few spots to offer the public but this place is way too popular for the limited number of spaces. Happy Hour: this ends at 5:00 pm sharp. BOOOOOOO!!!! You know most of us get off at 5pm, right? Don’t do that. People need at least an hour or two of extension time before dinner. Cmon. Be nice and extend happy hour. You’re only going to make MORE MONEY with it. Shoutout to Madeline, my server. She was attentive, warm, and on point. And kudos to the sweet host with the long curly chestnut hair. Both made the night even better. Overall, Postino is a good option for late-night light bites, date nights, or a casual glass of wine and catching up with friends and S/Os.

Google
We were able to swing by during their Happy Hour and sample the bruschetta board, cauliflower, and a few glasses of wine. The board was large enough and toasts were cut for sharing - we selected the artichoke, brie, mushroom, and pistachio - and they were all delish. As veg-forward folks we enjoyed the cauliflower too - the sauce was buffalo-leaning but creamier! And we had to try the donut dots - it wasn't anything too wild but was a fun treat at the end of our meal - piping hot donuts. The team works in groups and we always had someone stopping by to check on us. They were so kind about helping with a wine selection, too. We will be back. Tips: *plenty of parking *$25 bottle of wine + board Mondays and Tuesdays after 8pm *You can make a reservation. It wasn't too full at Happy Hour before 5, but was pretty full even on a Monday after 5pm

Yelp
Postino on 35th is new and it's already a hit. Happy hour is unbeatable with $24 bottles of wine and $6 glasses every day until 5 PM even on Sundays. Came in Friday late afternoon and Amiri at the bar crushed it with service and hospitality, friendly, quick, and spot on with wine recommendations. The charcuterie board was fresh, generous, and a perfect pairing. Great spot to end the week with good wine, tasty bites, and top notch service. Can't sit to come back and try more bites! Also, a great laptop/work posting up spot!!

Yelp
I really hate to be the first 3 star review here, but I care a lot about food and quality restaurants, and I live in Bryker Woods, and so I really want this restaurant to be all that it can be! My wife and two of our kids (1 middle, 1 high school) went in for dinner on Friday August 8th. I know they were newly opened, and so very busy, but WOW was it LOUD. I'm not super sensitive on this front but it was not super enjoyable. Later in the dinner a few tables around us cleared out and the noise was a bit more tolerable. With hard surfaces all around, they would do well to apply some insulation to the ceiling or something. I saw multiple customers there that were acquaintances of mine from the neighborhood. One of them had two small children and had to keep rotating time walking outside with them as it was too noisy for their family to enjoy the inside. Given that this location was newly opened, there was no shortage of staff.. if anything, people checking in with us probably every 3-4 minutes was almost overbearing, but still it's better than being neglected. Here is the piece that pushes me down to 3 starts, however... their menu is very bread-heavy. And this is me as a carb-loving, gluten-friendly person. Give me a pastry any day and I love it! But at dinner, I want more than paninis and bruschetta. I was pretty disappointed about the scant options for dinner entrees without a heavy bread component, though the small plates and starters looked good. (I tried the mushroom/cheese fondue which was a little too spicy and very rich, so not sure about that one). Just didn't feel like a very balanced menu. Only 2 salad options as well, if I recall. Given that they have many locations and a common menu across them, I'm not overly optimistic about their ability to pivot there quickly, but I sure wish they would adjust the menu (or add some new items to the menu). I'm pulling for this place, but hope that more people will give some of this feedback so that they can adjust!

Yelp
The girls and I came here to indulge in their "Board + Bottle" night: a board of bruschetta and a bottle of wine for $25 after 8 PM on Monday and Tuesday. We came on a Monday right at 8pm and it was packed, but we did have a reservation and were promptly seated and taken care of. Our server was very attentive and friendly, giving us space to look at the menu and offering recommendations. I wish I remembered his name but he said he worked at the Postino up in Dallas and I could tell he was very familiar with the brand. I ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio from Italy and a board with the "French Onion" "Smoked Salmon & Pesto" "Burrata, Bacon, & Arugula" and the "Chef's Choice" (which was hummus and bruschetta). I would order the Burrata one and Salmon one again, the brie on the French Onion was quite overwhelming for me, but the taste was good when I took off the brie. I can't wait to come back! I love this location way more than South lamar. Parking is free and the interior of this place is gorgeous and spacious.

Yelp
Welcome to the neighborhood, Postino! My friends and I decided to check it out on a Thursday evening and the parking lot was full! We found free street parking and was told there was a 40 minute wait for inside seating, but the bar is first come first serve, and the outdoor patio had no wait. The inside looked spacious and well decorated. Comfy. We decided it to rough it in the heat. They have plenty of umbrellas, but no fans. 2 of us keep mini fans in our purse so that helped. Service was very friendly and our water cups stayed refreshed. We ordered a toast board which is a great price for 4 different bruschettas, only $17.50 and they have so many options. We were able to do 2 gluten free breads and 2 regular breads. We could not choose a favorite, they were all so different, fresh, and flavorful. We also ordered the crisped cauliflower which was great, not deep fried but just crisped on the outside. We ordered the raspberry chicken salad and did not expect it to be half lettuce, half chicken salad! Maybe we didn't read it right, but oh well it was still very tasty. The olive oil cake was the perfect finisher to a grazing, girl dinner! It seems like they have a nice happy hour with $6 wines and drinks, but no food on the happy hour menu yet. They offer a lot of different wines, cocktails, mocktails, and lemonade/teas. When we left, we got coupons for $25 bottle of wine + a board, we will definitely be back!

Yelp
I read the reviews and learned two things that didn't surprise me when I went to the restaurant. It was exceptionally loud. Also, the menu is very bread heavy. The food was good, but not extraordinary or even out of the ordinary. Service was good and friendly. I would say that their charcuterie boards might be the best thing on the menu and perhaps come during happy hour would be a good idea.

Yelp
I loved the South Lamar location so much that I had to come to the North location. Parking is ample, and free compared to the South Lamar location. I ordered a gluten free OMG grilled cheese with a side of tomato bisque soup because it's my favorite! It reminds me of my childhood growing up on Kraft American singles and Campbell's tomato soup, but elevated. I requested no brie because I can only eat low or no cow lactose cheeses now. The grilled cheese contained gruyere (no lactose), goat cheese, and white cheddar (low lactose). Their customer service is really good. The manager asked how my food was. For some reason, the first batch of soup I had was too spicy or peppery with a kick. Even my husband thought it had a kick. So the manager brought out a second bowl for free. The second bowl of tomato soup was on point just as he said. Delicious!

Yelp
Postino Bryker Woods pre grand opening launch. Sooo delish. Must try Nicks Charcuterie Board and the build your own bruschetta. Their happy hour specials are great!!!! I can't wait to take my friends for HH. The food was delicious, the staff wonderful and I loved the ambiance!

Yelp
All was so GOOD!l, especially their bruschetta board. I loved the brownie dessert. Our server, Sakena was super attentive and sweet! Made sure we were happy with our food, stayed on top of our wine throughout dinner. Had amazing suggestions. Their happy hour deal is great! Would 100% recommend!

Yelp
What a wonderful, relaxing place. Postino opened it's second location at Jefferson and 35th Street on August 1. For the time being, they're offering an opening special bottle/bruschetta special: a bottle of wine and a bruschetta board fro $25 on Mondays and Tuesdays. Our server also gave us a card that will allow us to enjoy this speciall pricing any night until the offer expires sometime in the fall. The burschetta board is ample and will easily serve four people as an appetizer or two people as a light meal, perhaps accompanied by a panino, soup or salad. Each of the four slices of toast on the board is about 2 1/2" square with ample toppings. We tried the artichoke spread, mushrooms mascarpone, figs & pistachio nuts, and smoked salmon. Not understanding the ample amout we would be served, my wife and I each offered the two-for- something special: a half panino plus a soup or salad. We both ordered the brie & prosciutto panino, she with a small caesar and me with a bowl of red pepper and corn soup, that night's soup of the day. The atmosphere is soothing, and they have comfy chairs in addition to the more standard restaurant chairs. The waitstaff was especially friendly. We enjoyed a bottle of sauvignon blanc throughout. The tab was $72 with tax/before gratuity but we could have ordered one of the panino/salad combos and split it, keeping the tab around $50. It's open till 11 PM 7 days a week, and an excellent place to hang out for a late night snack and vino just before bedtime.

Yelp
My best friend and I stopped here to celebrate with a glass of wine after getting the news that she had beaten cancer after 5 years and happened upon the grand opening! Andrew, Amia, (bartenders) and Bernie (GM) were some of the kindest and most compassionate people. We were so impressed by their thoughtfulness, and how above and beyond they went to make her (our) incredible day even better. I will be back very soon (and maybe a regular WATCH OUT!) We already loved Postino from the South Lamar location. The people make this place stand out. The highest of recommendations to give it a try! The meatballs and goat cheese are what dreams are made of. Happy hour is an amazing deal!

Yelp
Great atmosphere. The music brings a nice vibe. The service and food was amazing. I will be back.

Yelp
Postino is the new IT spot in the neighborhood! Amazing service, food, cocktails and of course, wine. Our servers Jenny and Jane treated us like we were the only customers sitting at the bar.

Peyton B.

Yelp
Jane and Jenny were fabulous! We got in at the bar and they treated us SO well. Bubbly and fun personalities!!!

Yelp
Postino is a fantastic addition to Bryker Woods. We ate there tonight and it exceeded our expectations. First, the service was excellent. Our waitress was Madeline and she provided the perfect level of attention along with the rest of the service team. Next, the menu was pretty much the perfect size offering plenty of great choices but not overwhelming. I could have easily closed my eyes and pointed to something and been happy with it. We ordered a bruschetta plate, Caesar salad and the chicken and petite filet skewers that were each extremely delicious. Finally, the vibe is a terrific combination of comfort and style. I'll conclude by saying we didn't even scratch the surface of all the great menu choices and we'll be eating here regularly.

Yelp
Tobias was awesome he explained all of the bruschetta boards we got! We ordered all the flavors. Wine was great.

Yelp
The atmosphere was welcoming and clean. The food was perfect and served in a timely manner. Sat at the bar and was instantly greeted by the bartender, Kat, who was also very inviting and friendly. Overall a great spot to enjoy a meal, 10/10!

Yelp
Matt made our experience at the new Postinos incredible! He had great suggestions and was very welcoming and kind. Definitely coming back for more of his food recs, hoping he takes care of us next time!

We had Tobias. Great guy and was very personable. Amazing wine and food, plus the best deals. Also shout out to Carolann. She was great. Can't wait to ask for her next time.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and visit Postino in Bryker. The food and wine were amazing and the service from Jane was outstanding. She was so friendly and helpful and insured that we loved everything we ordered. The wine she suggested was on point. We are so excited to have this gem in our neighborhood. Looking forward to watching football at the bar while sipping good wine this fall.

Jenna W.

Yelp
Never been before, and I won't go anywhere else. Kat was an absolute sweetheart and took care of every need. We loved the vibe, the food, and the service!

Michael G.

Yelp
Just opened. Excellent wine bar with great bruschetta boards. Staff is on point. So nice and knowledgeable. Michael at the front door is warm and friendly and an exceptional face for this location.

Yelp
had lunch with my husband at Postino in Brykerwoods today. we both had paninis, his prosciutto and Brie panini was stellar, my tuna panini, was good, could have used some arugula. The side salads were very fresh. our server, Lucian, was great, very personable, excellent service. Highly recommend for casual dining experience.

Yelp
So happy to have this new addition to the neighborhood! Madeline was an excellent server and the food was amazing as well!

Debby O.

Yelp
Food was delicious, service (our server was Madeline) was super and the ambiance is great. Only drawback is that it's very noisy when crowded and conversation can be difficult. Will definitely go back!!
