Postino, Austin, claps, claps, claps.
I'll admit, I had low expectations due to the nature of Postino being a chain. Regardless, I was excited to try the new location here on South Lamar.
Staff was welcoming from the moment we walked in, confirming that parking is free until January 1. Hopeful that parking will be validated after that date...
Cool decor, one side of the restaurant offering a more laid back environment and the other side offering more of a cozy environment (appropriate for both hang out and date nights). Check out the hundred of keychains, hanging as wall paper! Very 90s nostalgia.
Bartenders Timothy and Andrew were awesome. Both very knowledgeable about the menus, wine and food, and providing exceptional recommendations. Without asking, we were offered to try a sample before making our final wine choice. We, honestly, look forward to returning to the bar seats!
The Bruschetta Boards are quite dense (in a good way), meeting the value of the price. It's clear that the restaurant values customer input, as some of the choices were inspired by customer feedback and preferences. Such as the French Onion Bruschetta (my personal favorite).
Favorites:
- French Onion
- Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil
- Prosciutto di Parma, Marscopone
- Burrata, Bacon, Arugula, Tomato
Oh, and don't sleep on the Skewers (served with one steak and one chicken, on top of a bed of house-made Tzatziki).
We will be back to try to the meatballs and other glasses of wine soon.
Pro Tip: Happy Hour until 5 PM, $20 bottle of wines after 8 PM and an end of the season Vintage sale.
Postino makes it a priority to give their guests a good wine experience at an affordable price. If you're wanting wine, they may even have Trader Joe's and HEB beat for the value. Cheers, Postino!
