Wine Bar Chain Postino Is Opening in Austin, Texas | Eater Austin
"I'm excited that Postino Wine Cafe is opening in Zilker this summer at 1301 South Lamar Boulevard. The chain will offer a global wine list—mostly European, Pacific Northwest, Californian, South American, and Australian wines (no Texas, unfortunately)—available by the glass or bottle, alongside Texas beers, lemonades, palmers, coffee, and teas. The New American, cafe-style menu includes lunch and dinner items such as panini, bruschetta boards, salads, and more. The South Lamar location will sit on the ground floor of a new mixed-use building with an indoor dining room and a patio, and I expect design touches like garage doors, a walnut wine wall, and midcentury furniture. The name Postino is the Italian word for “postman,” and the concept—started in 2009 by co-founders Lauren Bailey and Craig DeMarco under Upward Projects—already has locations in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio." - Nadia Chaudhury
