Where to Eat Pozole in Chicago - Eater Chicago

"This Belmont-Cragin BYOB establishment opened its doors in August. The restaurant’s offerings already creating buzz include a Guerrero-style pozole with pork meat in the traditional green, white, and red. Also on the menu is a Morelos-style version with a boiled egg. The headliner — pozole Mixteco or mole pozole — a complex, hyperlocal version of pozole from the Huajuapan de León region of Oaxaca. This variation features chicken and a mole sauce made with nearly 20 ingredients. Its preparation entails a very complex and lengthy process, which according to one of the co-owners, Karla Rodríguez, takes about nine hours to complete. This pozole is served with crispy tostadas and sour cream. Pozole Mixteco is a rare dish that is difficult to find even in Mexico." - Brenda Storch

Wanted to try pozole and stopped by this place. The pozole was really good and filling. The chicken taco was also super good. Service was great and they were really helpful with any questions I had.

Have had this place a few times for their pozole verde and the breakfast, and they always are one point with authentic, fresh and delicious flavors. The picaditas remind me of Veracruz, so simple but amazing. The staff we’ve encountered have all been attentive and friendly.

The food was delicious! Portions were very generous. Our server was polite and pleasant. Great atmosphere, they were playing classic Spanish rock songs. Will definitely come again.

It was my first time trying at this restaurant . The Pozole Rojo was very good and authentic . Especially on a cold and rainy day . Love the spice to it . One of the best I’ve eaten !! It comes with a side of onions , lime , radishes and half an avocado . Also comes with chicharrones on the side . Pozole is one of my favorite soups and they make it just right . Their food portion is very large. The staff was very friendly . Will definitely be back here more often !!

I was quite disappointed given reviews on this place. In my experience mexican places tend to have some of the best burgers so I went ahead and ordered their Azteca burger for takeout and the tacos de cesina. The fries were good but the burger was inedible. The meat was a brick and the egg was overcooked. The meat on the tacos was quite chewy and packed with the fatty pieces, although some may be a fan of that, I was not. The pickup experience itself took longer than I was told and it would’ve been worthwhile had the food been good, yet it wasn’t. If you stop in maybe stick to the pozole as it is what they specialize in and be skeptical about anything else you try.

One of the top Pozoles you can find around the city. All the food we have tried has been amazing. The Picaditas are a must try!
