hands down the best morning buns I’ve ever tasted and at great prices too But to be honest, the ONLY reason I’m taking the time to write this review is because of Devin. He’s genuinely one of the nicest people I’ve seen during my trip to San Diego I go there almost daily, and Devin NEVER fails to amaze me with his kindness and warmth Thanks for always brightening my mornings, keep smiling, Devin!

Serving maybe the best baguette I had outside of France which on every visit I enjoy as a ham and cheese sandwich. The other items I tried, such as chocolate croissants and other pastries, are good as well; but I really come for that sandwich. The only slight downside is that a while back they started slacking on putting out their seats and tables. They still do upon request, but some of the employees in a “How dare you ask!” manner.

Prager Brothers is hands-down my favorite bakery in town! Every loaf and pastry feels like a labor of love. My go-to breads are the Olive Rosemary, French Baguette, Focaccia, and the Sea Salt Flatbread—each one packed with flavor and the perfect texture. And don’t even get me started on the sweet treats! The Fig Walnut Bar is one of my all-time favorites.

Walked in to the Prager Brothers off University. I was greeted by a not so very polite employee. Very snarky and passive aggressive. I finally asked if he was having a good day and he said he was sick and no one could take his shift hence the attitude. Personally, I don’t believe you should be taking your attitude and bad manners out on your paying customers. I put a call into the manager up in Carlsbad and have not heard back from them. This is the second time I’ve walked into this location and they have not been very pleasant. Very disappointed with this location. I don’t want to drive up north all the time to Encinitas or Carlsbad, but those location employees are so much nicer.

After hearing rave reviews about Prager Brothers Artisan Breads, I finally decided to stop by their Hillcrest location—and I’m so glad I did! This charming bakery lives up to its stellar reputation, especially when it comes to their sourdough bread. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the mouthwatering aroma of freshly baked bread, and it’s impossible not to get excited about the variety of options on display. The sourdough here is truly something special. It has the perfect balance of tangy flavor and a wonderfully chewy texture with a crust that’s crisp but not overly hard. We picked up a loaf of their classic sourdough as well as a multigrain option, and both were absolutely fantastic. Whether you’re eating it fresh, toasting it, or pairing it with your favorite spreads, you won’t be disappointed. The staff at Prager Brothers is friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even better. They’re happy to answer questions and offer recommendations, which is great if you’re overwhelmed by all the delicious choices. In addition to bread, they have an impressive selection of pastries, and their croissants are next on my list to try. This place is definitely a new favorite, and I’ll be back regularly to stock up on their incredible baked goods. If you’re in Hillcrest and haven’t stopped by yet, don’t wait as long as I did—you’re missing out on some of the best bread in San Diego. Highly recommend!

Google
One of the best bakers in San Diego! Their salted shortbread cookies are addictive. Excellent bread including multigrain and baguette 🥖 Some premade sandwiches as well as cookies and pastries. Love that they also sell artisan flours for home bakers.

Google
ginger molasses cookie was perfect! great taste and chewy/fudgy center 😍 very reasonably priced. the chocolate croissant isn’t the best texture wise (check out izola, canele bakery or enclave {sourced from sui in LA}) but the chocolate hit the spot.

So happy they have cardamom pastry but need to add more cardamom in it. That aroma when you open the bag is not there.

Yelp
Pretty neat lil shop!! Went on a Weds am, so no crowds or busy queues to worry about. The case was stuffed w a wide selection of baked goodies from savory bagels & baguette sandos to cookies, croissants, and cakes. Tried the ham & gouda sammie & was very good! Baguette, while very fresh & yummy, could've been softer for my liking, but personal preference. The mustard was fantastic. Also snagged a cheese danish & the best I've ever had. Had to try an almond & chocolate croissant, and wasn't disappointed either. Very flaky. Overall, very yummy & very fresh. Staff was super helpful & nice, and gave his recommendations & made this a nice morning. No coffee bar or much in terms of seating, so prolly best to take to go, but really enjoyed this!

Yelp
A cute little spot! We went on a Wednesday morning and there was plenty of parking and pastries to choose from. Chocolate croissant - 8/10 I LOVED the chocolate, definitely a good quality chocolate bar. Almond croissant - 6/10. Not bad, I've definitely had better. It needed more almond filling and it was over baked. Sausage croissant - 4/10 this was the only thing I really disliked. The sausage was cold and salty, maybe if it was heated it would be okay. Cheese danish - 9/10 SO GOOD! Perfect amount of filling and the pastry wasn't too dry. This is what I would recommend getting. I think this is definitely a bakery that you stop by to get things on your way home to heat up and eat, as they don't warm the pastries there or serve coffee. There are two small tables outside but not a ton of room to hang out. The service was amazing! The guy at the front overheard it was my birthday and he gave me a pastry on the house - made my whole day.

Yelp
Immediately when I walked in, the gorgeous fresh breads caught my eye. I had a butter croissant and a chocolate chip walnut cookie. Both were fresh and delicious. The service was fantastic. We were greeted right away with an invitation to take our time and just say when we were ready to order. The bakery is beautiful and clean. I would definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
How are you serving your hot sandwiches cold or room temperature. You double down on this too!

Yelp
GREAT bread store! I purchased a dozen ciabatta rolls for a panzanella salad--they were perfect!

Yelp
Best bread in town! Try the épi if you like the best part of the baguette, the end ( crouton in French).

Yelp
Firstly, they use organic flour. Some of their flour is raised and harvested by them in Washington State. WOW, talk about dedication to quality. They start with first-rate ingredients and do not stop there. Their baked goods are delicious. I had friends visiting from France, they had been in the States for over a month by the time they came to San Diego. I didn't hesitate a second when I came home with fresh Croissants from Pragers. Our guests LOVED them and said they were as good if not better than what they get back home. That alone is one heck of a recommendation. Our chiropractor is around the corner from here, and we plan our visit to him to end with the opening time of Prager's, so that we can go home with freshly baked goods. I am so happy we do not live close by, I would have not been able to go past here without stopping in for some goodies. BTW, you want to come early because they can, and do, sell out of their favorites. Definitely take home some scones!!!

Yelp
Pretzels are soft and delicious again, been here thrice since the last poor experience. Super friendly and helpful staff, always a smile, great parking.

Yelp
Came in for sandwiches with a friend. The space was not sit down friendly - they didn't have bathrooms for customers either. But they did have premade sandwiches for sale and some DELICIOUS bread. I would recommend to stop in pre-picnic!!

Yelp
Great bakery!!! After dining in several restaurants that feature bread by Prager Bros - I finally showed up ready to experience their product at the source! I was blown away!!! Friendly staff, fabulous bread, lots of choices and a good location is about the best way to explain!!! I am sucker for sourdough bread, and if it's a mix of sourdough and rye even better! Of particular note I want to mention happy staff - that was eager to let me know how great their bread is, and were willing to sample few things for me! I will make these guys my go to place for bread!!!

Yelp
This is the 4th Bakery we visited today . We have heard Prager Brothers Artisan bread before just didn't have a chance to drive by . 2 gentleman greeted us when we came in . Not much of selection when we came because we came late . We order a few like their Olive Flatbread , Danish pastry , Savory scone . Theres no table inside so this bakery only do order to go . We found one table outside and thats it . My wife Sat at the table we found and started to try the food . I would say among the 3 item we tried, we like the Olive Flatbread the most, very fresh , savory , good size for the price , very tasty . Not much of selection of the drinks yet so we just ordered Starbucks right across the Bakery . Food was ok , and while eating we saw a lot of customers going in and out with Bags of breads or Baguette. I will try this place again to see what else they had baked in the early morning they opened .

Yelp
wow ;( today was a sad attempt at getting the vegetarian sandwich AGAIN, they won't offer to make you one , bec it takes a whole 15 minutes . ( Oh No) and I encountered a very nonchalant cashier that seemed he didn't really care or offer any assistance . Today's service was thumbs down , compared to other visits . Massive disappointment for me , i've been a loyal and long time customer of this location . Feels like a very lazy non caring environment the last 2 times i've visited and i'm rethinking my patronage .

Yelp
Prager Brothers Artisan Bakery in located about 10 minutes away from Balboa Park in the HillCrest neighborhood of San Diego. You need to go there early if you want to enjoy one of their delicious sandwiches. All sandwiches are made fresh on freshly baked Artisan bread. Outside of their sandwiches, they also have freshly baked breads, cookies, and other delicious pastries. This is my go to for breakfast pastries when I'm in San Diego. The Staff are always friendly and helpful in explaining any of the ingredients or items you might want to purchase. The cost might be a bit on the higher end but to me it is worth it. Note: This is not a coffee shop or a cafe. You won't be able to sit and relax at this location. This bakery is more of a grab and go. But, since Balboa Park is only a few minutes away.... Keep up the good work Prager Brothers !

Yelp
Got the blueberry scone and a chocolate almond croissant, both very tasty. The croissant in particular was crisp and perfectly chocolate-y with distinct layers. Service at the counter was good. We went in the afternoon and they were completely cleaned out of bread, so probably better to go much earlier.

Yelp
Has a bit of a chain vibe, but delivers high quality baked goods like it's a solo mom & pop shop. The bread seems to be the main star while the pastries can be a little hit-or-miss. Though I suppose once you figure out what you like, it's a great regular morning stop. Ham & Cheese Baguette: Kinda reminded me of those simple baguettes you'd get in Paris with just ham and butter. Except theirs also had some delicious cheese and a little mustard to offset the richness. It's a great savory idea for quick breakfast nosh. The baguette was perfectly crunchy and chewy. And the ham was hearty and tasty. Sticky Bun: Not the best. Felt very bready and with not enough filling in the inner rolls. So a bit dry. Kinda thin for a sticky bun too. Probably my least favorite of what I tried. Apricot Danish: I love when you don't have to choose between cheese or fruit in a danish. The big piece of apricot added a great sweet and tart complement to the rich hearty cheese. And the pastry shell was buttery and flaky and delicious. Probably my favorite sweet item I tried. Fig Walnut Bar: Kinda like an adult fig newton, expect with more figgy tasting center and much fresher buttery pastry. Ginger Molasses Cookie: A comfort classic. Perfectly chewy and spicy. Makes you feel like Christmas all year round.

Yelp
Food---Absolutely best baked goods, esp croissants, handmade sandwiches & lemon cake/bread. Speaking of breads, enormous variety, some can be sliced to order (others cannot). Always fresh & so very delicious. Service--fast & efficient, knowledgeable staff. Ambiance--Luv the ease of shopping here, no inside seating but take out is kewl. Highly recommend this necessary (don't ever close!) spot in heart of Hillcrest.

Yelp
I walked in and it was carb heaven. Their case was filled with beautiful pastries and it was hard to decide. I chose the morning bun and a loaf of country sourdough. I heated the morning bun at home and it was perfect. Very soft and not too sweet. The loaf had a crisp crust and chewy texture, but I couldn't taste the hint of tanginess that is characteristic of sourdough. Service was quick and polite. There is no place to sit and it's all takeout. They have limited drinks, especially coffee since Starbucks is across from them and they may be prohibited from competing.
google avatar

Tanner G.

Yelp
I usually come for their pre-made sandwiches, it's quick and easy, I always get the ham and cheese. Occasionally I get their pastries, all have been good, but do enjoy their short bread cookies. I wish they had Challah Bread, but everything there is still tasty. Everyone that I've interacted with has been nice.

jane m.

Yelp
Real European style bread-great ingredients. The pretzels taste like you're in Nuremberg. Great pastry too-selection isn't big, but high quality. Not a sit down place- just plan to grab and go. Selection is best early in the day.
google avatar

Liza N.

Yelp
If you find yourself in Carlsbad and is craving delicious freshly made pastries, please consider going to Prager Brothers. The service was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bakery is small but you can see where they make the breads and pastries from on scratch. There's a great patio to enjoy the pastries where you get a tranquil view of the wild flowers. It was a great find.

Yelp
Got here just when they opened on a Monday morning. The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful with my questions about the breads. I ended up getting a Country sourdough loaf, a chocolate croissant, a regular croissant, and an almond croissant. My favorites were the almond croissant (totally flaky, wonderful layers, and perfect amount of sugar and almonds), and the country loaf (perfect crunch crust, soft and chewy center, and a subtle yet noticeable sourness). The regular croissant was also amazing! The scone and chocolate croissant were great as well. Next time I hope to be able to get a sourdough olive loaf!!

Yelp
When I first walked into Prager Bros I was struck by the clean and minimalist look and feel of the storefront. I took me by surprise because when I walk into a bakery I always expect this rush of high energy, chaos. It was so calm here, yet you still get that beautiful overwhelming smell of fresh bread and know that you're in for something delicious. There were just a couple people ahead of me in line so I had only moments to make my impulse picks from the display case. I went with the two things that stuck out first and allowed me the chance to try a bit of sweet and savory options. I went with the spicy salami sandwich and the Pear Danish. I had skipped breakfast so I took a bite of my sandwich on the drive home. Game over. There was no sandwich by the time I pulled into the driveway minutes later. That sandwich bread was soft, chewy and fresh. There was the perfect balance of salami, prosciutto, a spicy spread, arugula and pickled onions between the bread. Too good not to devour immediately! What I also loved is that it wasn't heavy. I could have easily been content with that alone as a meal, but also okay with finishing the meal with a sweet treat. Enter pear Danish. They know how to make a Danish at Prager Bros! The outside of the Danish was so buttery and flaky and the middle of the Danish had these delicately sliced pears with a creamy filling, topped with brown sugary crumbles. There is so much more than meets the eye of this unsuspecting bread shop. Do yourself a favor and get here ASAP.
google avatar

Cari A.

Yelp
What a delicious place. Pros: -free parking lot -everything I've tried is delicious. Would recommend the almond croissant, savory scone, and spicy salami sandwich-their bread is fantastic. Cons: -this is more of a grab and go establishment so there really isn't seating here Other: -sandwiches were not ready until 10am

Yelp
Was in the hunt for a fresh baguette, not a grocery store baguette but a fresh crunchy on the outside soft on the inside kind of baguette. Prager brothers did not disappoint I'll be back for sure.
google avatar

Christopher T.

Yelp
Prager Brothers in Hillcrest is a nice little shop with friendly staff. I tried two of their sandwiches which tasted OK but they barely had any meat in them which was VERY disappointing plus the originality of the sandwiches is non-existent...who hasn't done Ham & Cheese before. And the fact that they make a bunch ahead of time rather than to order is very disappointing. I'll NEVER have another sandwich. I tried their croissant which an employee is made the French way. I can't speak to that but can say that they're not flaky nor buttery. I could barely count 10 layers to tasteless dough before I gave up and gave the rest to my friend. IZOLA is by far the BEST bakery around and their croissant have the layers/buttery taste that everyone loves. I will say that their Sticky Buns are good, not great but good.
google avatar

Yelp
Setting/Service: Casual and clean counter service with all the items displayed in the window. Food is already prepared, so service is super quick. Staff was friendly and inviting. Food: I ordered the Turkey Chimichurri with a chocolate croissant. The sandwich's standout feature easily is the bread. Great flavor and texture to the bread. The ingredients in the sandwich are not too distracting or overpowering, so the bread is appreciated more. With that said, I would've liked a touch more moisture to the sandwich with either more chimichurri or a little bit of Mayo. The Turkey, cheese, arugula, and chimichurri all had nice flavor. The croissant was good. I liked the chocolate used because it had a nice bitterness to it. The bread was flaky, but I wish it had a touch more moisture or butter. They have an assortment of desserts though and I want to come and try more. Overall: Easy spot to grab lunch or stock up on bread. I had a good experience here and will likely add this to my rotation.

Yelp
One of my favorite bakeries is now open down here. Huzzah! I used to go their Carlsbad location all the time, but down south I was limited to the Sunday Hillcrest farmer's market. But now I can have fresh bread Prager Brothers treats whenever I want. My favorite is the Miche, but it isn't ready until later in the day. So I often go with something else. All the breads are excellent, so whatever you get, you're sure to enjoy it. I've also got some friends and family hooked on this stuff just by serving up a loaf when they visit. I don't get their sweets as often, but those are really good too. Grab an assortment for a dessert party. It'll add up, but it'll be worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
Okay wow this place is soooo good!!!! Turkey sandwich is super tasty - the asiago/pumpkin seeds bread is so flavorful. Any sandwich with chimichurri on it is a wonder. Corn muffin - amaze. Also got the pretzel which is wildly good... layers of flavor, seasoned just right and tastes very classic pretzel. My family and I are picky about pretzels, this one's a real gem. Would love to see them make a pretzel loaf or buns! While I'm making a wish list, please make sourdough bagels!!!! I know these guys could do them justice and people would come from far & wide... pretzel bagel?! Just dreaming out loud... Excited to try everything here!!

Yelp
Applause to Prager Brothers for brining dignity to the art of real homemade from scratch bread! This is a labor of love and worth every penny. I find their bread to be priceless as it provides properly fermented breads and organic quality breads. I brought a loaf of this bread to a monthly luncheon I attend. We make all homemade organic as possible healthy foods that is truly 5 star results. Another person brings the bread from another well known and loved bakery in the area. I was happy when this person tried Prager bread and her eyes lit up. She asked where I bought the bread. We now use this bread and everybody loves it! I only have great results with any of the breads I buy. The staff is great too. I am glad I can buy bread from people who are doing the right things! Thank you Prager Brothers and Team!
google avatar

Kelsey W.

Yelp
The food is good, but I wish they offered another vegetarian option, since I often leave the place empty handed. If they're out of the Caprese--which they always seem to be when I go!--then you're out of luck if you can't eat or happen to dislike their only other option, their vegan sandwich. (I'm allergic to a couple of the ingredients in it, so I can't say whether that one's good or not.) I usually end up going to sandwich shops that aren't as good, just because I can actually find something to eat there. If they added a thing or two I would be here all the time!
google avatar

Dung N.

Yelp
My friend treated me to a birthday lunch here and I was surprised that it wasn't so crowded. The sandwiches were already made, so all you have to do is tell them what you want, which is perfect if you're on a time crunch. She opted for the spicy Italian, while I chose the ham and gruyere. Both sandwiches looked delightful and mine was simple, but delicious. For pastries, I chose the custard bun and almond croissaint. The custard bun had a guava flavoring to it and it was really yummy. The croissant was nice and flaky. She had me try her snickerdoodle, but that was alright to me. They also had some kombucha for drinks, so we got a couple of the raspberry lemonades ones. They were so refreshing!
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
My sister gave me an almond croissant for the first time and I instantly got hooked. I got on Yelp and searched for a place nearby and found prager brothers!! I got 5 almond croissants! They were very fresh. I came in the morning time and they had all their pastries in stock. I'm excited to come back next time to try out their sandwiches and the some other pastries!!

Yelp
Excellent bakery! Their artisan breads, croissants and all baked goods are great and of a very high quality. Staff if nice and friendly. The store is in a convenient spot in University avenue. Pricier than your regular bakery, this is much more of an upscale artisan bakery. Not all things are always available as they bring them from another location at different times, but I always find something I like.
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
Delicious bread and pretzels. A fantastic treat for the family to go with any meal. Their selection is limited in regards to what is available that day, but you will always find something great to eat.
google avatar

Anne D.

Yelp
I'm visiting and staying close by so walked here to get breads. Just tried the apple galette and it was perfect! Got a Parmesan pumpkin seed ciabatta and had a sandwich with the sourdough. Everything was so good. Got a croissant to try later. Friendly service.

Ray P.

Yelp
I drove a distance to try this place and when I arrived there were flies in the cases where open sandwiches were being sold. I was also told that the sandwich I wanted had been sitting there for several hours. So I switched my order. I doubt this place will last long with flies in the food!!!

Yelp
"Stop what you're doin' cuz I'm about to ruin, the image of the [bread] that you're used to" -Digital Underground Although they were talking about style and not bread, the concept remains the same. Once you have Pragers, all other bread is changed forever. Let me be the first to tell you, THIS is the bread that Oprah was talking about. We've all seen her famous "I love bread" commercials and Prager Bros is what she was referring to. Now before we get off on a "How I know Oprah" tangent, let me just tell you that she won't be the only one raving about Prager Bros. Your mom, your sister, your best friend, your coworker with the stank attitude, they all love Prager Bros, or at least they will soon. Honestly, I could get you lost in the details of what makes this bread so spectacular but I won't even go there. I'll simply say that when outstanding ingredients collide with love and the delicate fingers of expert bakers, universes are created. The robust tastes and textures will totally have your tastebuds titillating. You see what I did there. But really though, everything I've tried has been down right fantastic. The parmesean fig, ciabatta, and potato rolls are superb and make a great landing spot for a burger. The Almond croissant is heavenly, and the sandwiches are blissful (Spicy Italian I'm talking to you). So stop what you're doing and hightail it over to Prager Bros for everything you never knew you needed. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Prager Bros for putting out an amazing product in a friendly place. Tip: Sandwiches arrive at about 10am daily.

Yelp
Hooray for Prager Brothers Artisan Breads! I love them, specifically their French Baguettes (Epi) , Pain aux Raisins, Morning Buns, and all their croissants. I this visit, to their new location in Hillcrest, I picked up several items. In addition to the above, I also added a Parmesan Fig Roll and the Ham and Cheese sandwich made with "baguette - hormone free Beeler's Ham - cave aged Gruyère - house made mustard - butter." (Prager Brothers, 2021). Everything was terrific. I loved the house made mustard on the sandwich. It was a winner, and you can't go wrong with the texture of their baguettes. The Pain aux Raisins was outstanding and definitely worth the wait at home warming it up in the toaster oven for about 8 minutes. The morning bun, was perfect for the next morning with a warm cup of coffee, and the Parmesan Fig Roll was amazing with my lunch. I can not sahy enough for this bakery and what they bake. Artisan Bakers indeed. Be back soon!

Yelp
I loves me a good bakery! But this one is great!!! I had never heard of Prager Brothers until now, and so glad I did! Came by in the late afternoon and bought a baguette, plain croissant, chocolate croissant, almond croissant, a slice of citrus olive oil cake, and a rosemary sea salt flatbread. Where do I start??? That flatbread is amazing!!! Just the right balance! Loved the citrus cake! The pastries were great...the next day!!! But it was the baguette that really was the test. We ate it with dinner the day I bought it, and the leftover section, I put in a plastic bag. When I put it in the toaster oven two days later, it came out airy and the crust crisped up really nice, just like the ones in Paris. This is a really good sign that they know what they're doing. I can't wait to come back! And the best part is that parking is easy!

Yelp
Ruined the Apple galette on University! Gone is the flakey pastry with the savory seasoned Apple center. Only to be replaced with a tough stiff dough exterior and a mixed filler which doesn't offer the same true pastry experience of just two weeks ago.

Yelp
Best bread in San Diego. Walnut Sourdough is our favorite but it's all good. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Yelp
Having a Prager Brothers location in the south part of San Diego sounded like a dream come true! Pre-covid when they came down to the hillcrest farmers market, the line to get their bread was always so long, I rarely was able to get them as often as I'd like. Now they have a storefront that's very close to the farmers market. I went in today wanting to get some of their delightfully sounding seasonal menu items like the earl grey tea cake and pistachio honey cake. I also saw that they had pistachio and vanilla custard buns in store so was looking for that too. Unfortunately they didn't have any of the cakes, but I was able to grab the vanilla custard bun and miche. The custard bun was light, flaky and buttery with beautiful layers swirling around the center custard. Miche was a rustic, hearty sourdough that was great slightly toasted. I just wish the employees there today reflected how great their products are. I remember the two ladies who were at the farmers market were so sweet and friendly..I felt so welcomed and taken care of, which made the bread even more enjoyable when I came home. Today when we went in they looked at us while we were walking down the entrance to the set up table without a single greeting. And when I asked about the seasonal items I were looking for, he just said "it's not here." Couldn't tell me if they ran out for the day, or if they didn't carry it at this location. I definitely miss the friendly vibe that I typically get from Prager Brothers, but bread was great as always.

Yelp

Yelp
This place has the absolute best baguette in San Diego. Their baguette has a crusty exterior with a soft inside and bursting with flavor. I used to have this bread served as an Italian sandwich in modern times flavor dome in downtown. Sadly enough they have gotten rid of that sandwich but the bread that they use was Pragers. So now I come here to get the baguette itself and make my own sandwiches. Let me tell you the sandwiches that I make with their bread is the absolute best. Although I come here for the baguettes, they have other stuff that are absolutely wonderful. They also have sandwiches here, but I was not a fan of them. The bread was there but the ingredients did not do it justice. I wish they made an Italian sandwich with their baguettes. They recently opened up a pizza extension, I am going to try this next. If their crust is anything like their bread, I can't wait!

Yelp
Went into this place wanting to like it, but all the items looked over-baked. I bought an almond croissant, just to see if maybe it was an optical illusion and maybe soft on the inside. Nope, it was definitely over-baked to the point where it was barely edible only in the center. Both ends were dry and crunchy all the way through to where when you bit into it, it was tough but kind of chewed into flaky powder of burnt butter. The place has a lot of potential, the items looked good except for all being significantly over-baked. I would think it was just a bad batch if it wasn't so consistent with all the items I saw.

Yelp
It's now 03/08 and still no refund or correction to the overcharge. This is exactly what I was concerned about.

Yelp
WOW to say I'm addicted is an understatement!! I've been coming to this place once a week for their yummy sandwiches (spicy Italian and pesto). Their sandwiches are priced affordable and makes me feel not as guilty getting these sometimes twice a week for a quick lunch bite. When you walk in it's pretty straight forward, there are food items displayed and just order at the counter. I'm not really that knowledgeable in different types of bread they were super helpful in educating me which bread is best for my dinner. FYI parking is horrible

Yelp
I love bread so much. Prager Brothers does it right. I'm so glad this location opened. My wife and I are seriously thinking about coming here every Sunday to get loaves for our Sunday suppers. Last Sunday we enjoyed a multigrain loaf with some heirloom beans and sauteed spinach. Forget about it! It doesn't get any better. We have German friends who swear by the bauernbrot. I'm sure we'll get to that eventually, but that multigrain is so good! As a vegan, I appreciate that I can enjoy most of what they make. Perhaps even better, they are very upfront about the ingredients of all of their products, unlike some other local bakeries (check out my reviews if you're curious). If you live too far from Hillcrest, check out their other locations. You can also find their various breads for sale at farmers markets and grocery stores. They use mainly organic ingredients. I'm not sure what that means, but they list everything on their website, and they don't use GMO. OK, done! Pretzel, bitte!
