5 of Europe’s Most Authentic Christmas Markets

"Prague comes to life at Christmas as festive markets pop up across the Czech capital. Of these, the biggest and prettiest can be found at Old Town Square, nestled around the Jan Hus statue and surrounded by centuries-old Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Tuck into Czech specialities like barbecued pork, blood sausages, Czech muffins and conkers, and wash it down with local beer, mulled wine and mead. The festival program features folk dance and musical performances as well as an elaborate Nativity scene featuring live animals." - Rachel Tan

Prague has unique Christmas vibe and you should experience it at least once in your life. You can find lots of food, drink, events and shops around. In my opinion It is better to visit in the evening because you can see moon, stars and lights from buildings around. Do not miss It, fully recommended.

The Prague Christmas market was amazing and I would 100% recommend it during Christmas time. It’s open until early January so you can take a Christmas break trip after the holidays and still see it! You can try local food dishes, collect souvenirs and see so many cool things like blacksmiths making iron roses right in front of you!

Beautiful market. Not too big but has an interesting selection, for example chimney cake in the cone shape with filling and cream/ice cream on top of it, waffle in chocolate and sprinkles on the stick, potato panckes, hot honey dinks along with mulled wine and hot cocoa. Few blacksmith boots, Christmas tree decor, polish rolling pins for cookie making and a lot of Prague related suveniers. Expensive- yes, but unique to see and enjoy during winter times. 😉

A must to visit and a must to buy nothing! The atmosphere is magical here. You feel like you are in a fairytale land. It is magical. But here is a tourist trap. There are other Christmas markets nearby such as the one in Namesti republiky which is just next to palladium shopping center and the other one on Vaclav namesti where you will find locals having the fun and feeling of the Christmas together with little tourist and they have more alternatives for food , drinks and handcrafts etc

The Christmas Market in Old Town Prague is enchanting! Twinkling lights, festive stalls, and a magical atmosphere create a winter wonderland. Delight in holiday treats, unique gifts, and the joyous spirit of the season. A must-visit for a truly festive experience!

Love visiting this Christmas market in Old Town. Lots of Christmas theme gifts which you can buy from Christmas decorations to chocolates. Make you try the hot wine and local sausages. It’s an wonderful way to warm yourself up. Apart from the big selection of local food which you can try, there is also a live band performing. Just be careful if you going with kids as it’s pretty crowded and it’s easy to get separated.

The worst customer service ever! ASSAULTED CUSTOMER. Sausage and ham kiosk owner is mocking customers who speak English in Chech language in front of their face. He thinks people don’t understand. I speak fluent English so he didn’t know I’ll understand what he said. When I said I speak Ukrainian and understood it he said won’t sell to me and wants me to go away. I filmed his actions and he told his employee to take away my phone. See a video attached. His location right next to the park. His licence name. If there is any consumer protection board would be helpful. Want to spread this information about these people. If there are any authorities who can help I will appreciate information. I didn’t have time to go to police station had to catch a flight same evening((
