Austin’s New Restaurant & Bar Openings

"Prana Cafe is a walk-up juice and smoothie shop on East 7th Street in a small building that used to be an El Chilito. The menu has a handful of shakes, smoothies, and cold-pressed juices, plus coffee, cappuccinos, and lattes. There are also a few pastries and toasts, if you want something a little heartier. Prana Cafe Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"We are usually wary of healthy restaurants located directly underneath an Equinox, but even though Prana looks like your classic $10 green juice cliche cafe, it actually has a welcoming selection of health food disguised as comfort food. The counter service spot includes filling breakfast and lunch options, such as oatmeal banana pancakes and quinoa, with easy-to-find indoor seating good for hiding from a scorching afternoon. Also, it's home to one of the few iced lattes under $4 in all of South Beach." - Alyson Penn

Rating: 4.3/5 [take out] Such a cute spot to hang out! They were literally playing a guided meditation while we sat outside sipping our drinks--super peaceful vibes. They have an extensive menu, including daily specials, spring/summer protein smoothies, their regular smoothie offerings, and a hot tea/add-ins menu. It also looks like they've partnered with or opened a Chickpea food truck, which is parked right across from the ordering window. We came on National Smoothie Day, so all smoothies were 50% off--a fun bonus! Since it was our first time, we decided to try their chakra smoothies. I Speak ($12 for 18 oz | $14 for 24 oz): Made with pineapple, banana, coconut meat, blue spirulina, coconut yogurt, agave, cinnamon, coconut milk, and vanilla. Despite all the coconut ingredients, the flavor was nicely balanced--not overpowering. It had a beautiful blue color with a swirl of white at the bottom that reminded me of clouds in the sky. Just the right amount of sweetness, too. I Love ($12 for 18 oz | $14 for 24 oz): This one had avocado, green apple, spinach, banana, lemon wedge, honey, pressed oranges, coconut water, ginger, agave magnesium, and bee pollen. It was very citrus-forward with a strong ginger aftertaste, and the sweetness didn't come through as much. We ended up mixing it with the I Speak smoothie, which helped balance it out.

New favorite brunch spot! The cacao smoothie and pranacavo toast were absolutely delicious. Amazing service too! Such a vibey, peaceful outdoor patio. I will definitely be back!

Beautiful space with incredible smoothies and top notch service. I stopped by to kill some time before my flight and wish I could spend hours here! Great work spot too and chill music.

Smoothie Heaven If you haven’t had a smoothie made by Carla, you’re seriously missing out on a life experience. This woman is a blender wizard. A fruit-sorceress. A liquid joy architect. I walked in thinking I was just going to get something healthy… I walked out questioning every other smoothie I’ve ever had. Carla doesn’t just make smoothies - she crafts them. Every blend is smooth, balanced, and bursting with flavor like she’s got the secret codes to unlock fruit’s full potential. Plus, she’s got this joyful, magnetic energy that makes you feel like you’re not just a customer… you’re part of the smoothie magic. Went multiple times during our visit. Recommend x100

Being all the way from New Zealand it’s always amazing seeing people still working even on Christmas, the staff were very humble, happy to see you and the place has a very relaxing vibe. The smoothie presentation was immaculate, very tasty, filling and vibrant. Best smoothie I’ve had in a long long time. Definitely worth the trip if you are in the area

I was looking for a smoothie juice place because I’m feeling under the weather and was craving something fresh. I was greeted immediately by the owner Mike. He was so warm, sunny, and authentic. I ordered the Cacao Ceremony because it has my favorite ingredients plus rose petals. Mike also gifted me with a Hot Mama wellness shot which is really what I need right now! The smoothie I ordered was rich and comforting. Mike’s brother was working too and he was so sweet to chat us up. He was also warm, sunny, and authentic! My husband ended up getting out of the truck to join me and ordered an I Feel drink which he enjoyed. I can’t wait to come back with friends.

The atmosphere here is so cute. The smoothies are really good, thick, and filling. I enjoy them a lot. The staff was very patient and helped me make a decision about the drink that I should get. I definitely recommend trying.

Yelp
Such a quaint place. I've driven by so many times and finally decided to stop in. This is a walk up with only outside seating and there's quiet bit of seating. I can imagine during warmer months this would be a great morning hang out to enjoy your coffee or smoothie. They are dog friendly too. I went with the I see which just so happened to be the Special of the day and got $2 off! Sweet! The smoothie was delicious and on the thicker side. Got a bit harder with the peanuts going through the straw, but that's ok. I'd love to try other versions as they all sounded delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Dare I say these are my favorite smoothies in Austin? I really like what Prana has to offer. Not only do they have delicious smoothies, but they also have juices (which I like), tea, pastries, and coffee. While you're waiting, and it won't be too long, you can sit at their pink picnic style tables. Outside of what they serve, they host fun events like yoga for you to enjoy. This is great place to get a healthy treat and enjoy the weather.

Yelp
My new go-to spot for coffee and smoothies. Walking distance from my apartment! I am not a morning person but... Showing up here on any given morning makes my attitude go from grumpy to smiley. There's just such a welcoming and chill vibe. The outdoor patio is like an oasis in the middle of busy 7th! Relaxation/yoga/meditation area. Spacious tables, motivational murals, books, signage. Loving and caring staff who just give off a warm, zen vibe. Coffee, juices, and smoothies that'll knock your socks off. The iced tiramisu latte is literally a liquid version of the traditional dessert. Absolutely nailed those flavors. I love that they have seasonal offerings. The pumpkin spice latte is the cat's meow!

Yelp
I was craving a smoothie after my workout this weekend and saw that this was a relatively new establishment, so I came to check it out! Each smoothie has a unique mix of ingredients that I haven't seen before, but I will say the cheapest smoothie size (18oz) starts at $12, which honestly is above my price comfort level for a smoothie. Although my "I See" smoothie was delicious and blended well, this might be a once-in-awhile treat for me due to the price. The staff made my smoothie drink very efficiently and the overall ambiance and patio space was very cute -- tons of benches and chairs for groups! I'd definitely give this place a try for your next coffee/smoothie craving!

Yelp
A very aesthetically pleasing smoothie and juice shop on the east side you really can't miss the bright pink shop. You order at a walkup window and there is only outside seating but it's shaded thankfully. The young lady who took my order was very helpful in helping decide what to get since it was my first time. I ended up getting the "I speak" smoothie which was $12. She was so nice and also offered me a sample of their cold pressed juice which I gladly took. The smoothie is really good! Like better than I thought it would be because I'm not sure how good a smoothie can be for $12 but was pleasantly surprised. Would I come back? Probably but it wouldn't be frequent. I'd say it's worth a try.

Yelp
It's very cute place to relax and get some coffee, smoothies, and small bites. Their drinks are good. I also got their avocado sandwich and it was pack with flavor. It was $13 so a bit pricey for the size. There are only outside seating. There are some outlets, but the wifi is slow. I would come back for the drinks and catch up with friends but not to do work.

Yelp
This is such a cute walk-up cafe with plenty of outdoor seating under umbrellas, flowers growing in planters, murals painted on the wall. And the most gorgeous neon sign that looks amazing at night! There's also enough parking in its private lot, so that's welcome too. They serve smoothies, sandwiches, coffee, and more but I just tried the iced coffee with lavender and cream which was good. I appreciate that they have self-serve simple syrup since it always takes forever to dissolve granulated sugar in cold coffee otherwise. While I miss having indoor space as a customer that just means the interior is roomy enough for several employees to do their work at once and everything was quick despite having a line of patrons eager to check out the new place. And I appreciated the friendliness of the cashier too. I'm glad to have this new spot!

Yelp
Heard many great things about Prana, so I decided to come here with a friend. The place was so lovely in person. We ordered an ice peach tea and yogurt drink (not pictured). Although it was midday in the heat, the sprinklers and big shared umbrellas really helped cooled us down. We stayed for quite a bit as it felt very comfortable and relaxing. Kate, the owner then dropped by with scones on the house for us. It tasted delicious! Overall, I really think this place is wonderful for a morning or afternoon drop by with friends. The light pink ambience and the touches to it makes it great for instagram shots, but it also is a chill place to gather with friends and enjoy refreshing, organic drinks. We will be back!

Yelp
Great little spot when it's not hot outside. All the seating is outdoors but it's a cute spot and my matcha latte was fairly good.

Yelp
My friend and I checked out Prana one morning after a workout class and had a good experience! We each ordered smoothies, and we shared a tomato toast, which was absolutely delicious. Smoothies and toast were ready pretty quickly, and there were a bunch of tables out front to sit at with fans and misters set up. The only downside to Prana is the limited parking, so we had to find paid street parking, which was frustrating. Seems to be the trend now in Austin, though, so not super surprising! Nevertheless, good experience!

Yelp
Such a cute place!!! I had a seasonal coffee and it was perfect. The cashier was a sweetheart and made sure I was taken care of.

Yelp
Everything is in house made, including syrups, they have and interesting approach to avo toast but quiet amazing , as well as their friendly staff and service and super cute patio. OF course pet friendly !

Yelp
The food is healthy, tasty, refreshing! I love this place so much, there's great seating, and all the people that serve you are so nice and kind! Parking is easy to find, great area to walk around and enjoy yourself while you drink your smoothie or whatever else you ordered. I highly recommend this location, I bring my friends here all the time!

Yelp
The "kid again" smoothie was one of the absolute best I have ever had My gf got the "I am" and it was extremely refreshing and perfectly blended Consistency on point Cameron was great and our pup loved his time here too. We will be back!

Yelp
Beautiful space, friendly staff and good variety of drinks to pick from. Will be back.

Yelp
drinks are off the charts good! such a cute space, with the nicest workers! will definitely be coming back

Yelp
Super cute outside but I drove across town to try their Pranacado, was charged full price and they were out of micro greens... which is why I came. Sucks they only told me they were out when I asked for some to add per the description (and what I paid for)! I would not have ordered if I knew they were out but anyways, high price low stock without accountability/honesty to their menu and dirty dog water bowls without the ability to clean them but cute looking.

Yelp
Went to Prana this morning with my cycling club and right off the bat they got my friend's order wrong. He ordered a Cortado and they gave him something resembling a cappuccino. This was largely because of the sheepish cashier who didn't do a very good job of communicating. That's lame for a $7 coffee but forgivable. The part that really sucks is that all the milk based coffees tasted bad, like really bad. I thought it was just me and I thought maybe they pulled the espresso too cold but other people thought the milk was spoiled. I didn't put this together until after I'd had half the drink and the line was too long to try to rectify the issue etc. We'll have to see in a couple hours whether I have latte coming out both ends or not. There are enough coffee shops in East Austin that this one should be skipped.

Yelp
The smoothies are okay but super overpriced in my opinion. I ordered the "cacao ceremony" and didn't taste the cacao. I would've enjoyed the experience more if we didn't have to sit outside in the heat. It's too hot not to have indoor seating. I don't think I'll be back even though I love the aesthetic. Good luck keeping this place open!

Steven Y.

Yelp
Friend and I checked out prana cafe. Incredible experience. Got the cold foam ceremonial matcha mocha and a mango cream smoothie. Felt like a Greek god after consuming both. 10/10

Nicole E.

Yelp
if I were a smoothie shop, this would be me. the smoothie menu is curated around the 7 energy centers called "chakras" from the ancient East Yogic traditions. all ingredients are intentionally and locally sourced with highest quality while supporting the surrounding Austin community of local farmers, independent small business and purveyors. the atmosphere feels like a big hug. prana has gone back to basics focusing human connection over profit. It's all about good nutritious food, good people, and good energy. after post covid culture, having a place that is outside, comfy with lots of different seating styles, surrounded with Jasmin trees and beautiful people, is a breath of fresh air.

Yelp
It was serendipitous we ended up here on the morning of my birthday. It is a cheery, happy spot for breakfast. The staff could not have been more friendly and their recommendations were spot on. I had the "I Feel" smoothie with goji berries and then to top it off, they brought us complimentary pastries with a birthday card. My husband now calls it the Ted Lasso of smoothie/coffee shops.

Fati L.

Yelp
I got the vitalize pressed juice. It was pretty good but not worth $8. The workers were friendly. The place itself is super cute, including the outdoor seating area. There are some shaded spots to hang out.

T N.

Yelp
I was excited to try out this new place, but it's yet another new establishment that cares more about style than substance. (You pick up food at a window that states: "Believe in yourself.") Two smoothies and two toasts cost more than $60 with tip, which should be a crime. For that money, we were not even left sated. What we really need on 7th is a new easy (and more importantly, affordable) lunch spot that offers actual meals. This cafe currently only offers "toasts" and pastries. It's a wannabe L.A. spot. But if you're going to charge Erewhon prices, you should at least be making Erewhon-quality smoothies.
