"Backed by the team behind Okiboru Tsukemen and Ramen and chef Sean Park of NoriFish, Prefecture Japanese Steakhouse pays homage to the various cattle-raising districts in Japan with a six or eight-course tasting menu centered around wagyu-breed beef and its spread across the world. Rare cuts and unique preparations tell its story, from Zabuton chuck center with Fuji apple ponzu, garlic oil, crispy shallots, and chives to a New York strip aburi with caviar and a truffle wagyu slider. Add-ons and self-designed tastings are also available at what is only the second steak omakase in the country. Reservations highly encouraged." - Su-Jit Lin

"This isn’t your grandparents' steakhouse. Electronica tunes coming from the speakers reinforce that, but the omakase-style Japanese steakhouse should cement a slot on your big steak dinner rotation. Prefecture in Buckhead offers a tasting menu of all their best dishes, including lobster rice, a cheesy wagyu slider, and three other steak dishes. The “I’ll leave it up to you” doesn’t work quite as well for steak—we wish we would’ve been able to select the temps ourselves. But the quality and tastiness of every dish earns a solid A (or should we say A5). " - nina reeder, juli horsford
"Prefecture Japanese Steakhouse offers a tasting menu featuring cuts of wagyu beef prepared in a variety of ways. Think course after course of Zabuton chuck center with Fuji apple ponzu, garlic oil, crispy shallots, and chives, New York strip aburi with caviar and chips, and a truffle wagyu slider for $175 per person. Prefecture also features a la carte dishes of wagyu beef, pork belly, and fresh fish flown in from ports around the world, as well as sushi and sashimi." - Beth McKibben, Sarra Sedghi
"Omakase restaurants are having a serious moment in Atlanta right now (we’re talking Mujō, Omakase Table, Hayawaka, etc.). And Prefecture in Buckhead hops on that train with Japanese wagyu beef courses along with the more traditional fresh cuts of fish. A tasting menu provides a sampling of all their best dishes, including lobster rice, a cheesy wagyu slider, and three other steak dishes. The “I’ll leave it up to you” doesn’t work quite as well for steak—we wish we would’ve been able to select the temps ourselves. But the quality and tastiness of every dish earns a solid A (or should we say A5). The sleek interior has minimalist decor aside from hanging lights that look like fireworks frozen in midair above the tables. Electronica tunes coming from the speakers further reinforce that this isn’t your grandparents' steakhouse." - Juli Horsford
