D.C.’s Newest Ice Cream Shop Features Presidents’ Favorite Flavors | Eater DC

"Projected to open Friday, July 27 at 11 a.m., I note Presidential Scoops (1450 G Street NW) is a tiny, patriotic-themed ice cream shop serving 16 politically inspired flavors favored by U.S. presidents, including Lincoln’s Salted Caramel Pretzel, Obama’s Strawberry Jubilee, Nixon’s Cookie and Cream Crumble, President Donald Trump’s preferred Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and JFK’s America’s Birthday Cake. I report that orders come as one to three scoops for $4.95 to $6.95 (sprinkles are 95 cents extra), with a “double scoop” option — reportedly the portion Trump requests at meetings — and that the product is sourced from the longtime family-owned Bassetts factory in Philadelphia. Owned by Jim Warlick, who also runs nearby White House Gifts and Presidential Gallery and collects extensive JFK memorabilia (including the last car JFK rode in in Ft. Worth), the shop will have six-year-old presidential scholar Zachary Tzegaegbe do the ribbon cutting, and ice cream will be free for about the first hour on opening day." - Tierney Plumb

Great ice cream. I just wish they had more flavors. But ok prices and good flavor.

Fun concept, solid ice cream, DC-high prices. The waffle cone was average but the ice cream was good and they give generous servings. There were plenty of chunks in the ice cream too (I got cookie dough and moose tracks). It's a tiny storefront with no seating, but they do have standing counter space if you want to eat in the AC. I'd stop by again if I was in the area.

Great service. Good ice cream and milkshakes. No place to sit but standing tables outside that keep you out of the sun

I love the whimsical flavors and nod to the presidents - Marilyn Monroe's singing happy birthday to JFK and Moose Tracks to Teddy Roosevelt's passion for hunting. With over 20 flavors, it's quite a feat to choose! Although it's a bummer that the ice cream isn't locally sourced, it's from the national chain Bassetts. I'm glad I landed on the decadent Guatemalan Ripple based on Jefferson's love for coffee. Every lick was divine with a swirl of mocha fudge and a sea of chocolate truffles in a deep coffee base. The sweetness of the chocolate cut the bitterness of the rich coffee. True to its motto - Making American Sweet Again with every delicious lick! This hidden gem is tucked away from the bustling touristy crowds. Perfect way to cool off in the sweltering summer heat!

New ice cream shop close to the White House. A bit overpriced but that's to be expected in DC. Not a huge variety of flavors but enough to find something you'd like.

Great ice cream, friendly service! Cute tumblers. Definitely would come here again.
