Pret A Manger opens at McCarran International Airport in Terminal 3 - Eater Vegas

"Pret A Manger, based in the UK, just opened in Terminal 3, across from Gate E4. The new grab-and-go location offers sandwiches, salads, wraps, and hot items, including vegan and vegetarian options as well as juices and organic coffee. Customers can eat in, take meals with them, or eat them on board the plane. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sweets make up the menu. The restaurant already has locations on the East Coast and in Chicago, and plans to open new outlets at Los Angeles International Airport’s Tom Bradley International Terminal, as well as Charlotte Douglas International Airport in the coming weeks." - Susan Stapleton

Experience: There was a line of two people ahead of me which went really quickly. When I got to the front, I asked if the teas were just a tea bag and water, not lattes, and she said yes, so I ordered a coffee. I paid and she handed me a cup. I turned around and there was a coffee station where you pour your own coffee into your cup and add your cream/milk, and put on your lid. Drink: I my light brewed coffee around 3pm. The coffee was a warm. Now, I don't actually want to scale myself, so warm is fine, but not this kinda warm. This is like just over room temp. When I added cream, it was room temp. The flavor was okay, but I question how often they fill up the coffee. I blame myself for not saying anything at the time, but there was a long line of people after me and I was in a rush to get to class, so I took my warmish coffee and left. The staff: Seemed unhappy to be there. The girl behind the counter seemed annoyed at my question about tea. The cost: I think the cup of coffee was about $3.45 or so. This seems a bit much when you can get a fresh cup from another place on campus. I'm not sure why the drip coffee is more expensive here. Some other items- like some of the sandwiches seemed more reasonable.

If you’re in a rush, I recommend this place for lunch. It’s a great restaurant to take your quick break, and you can enjoy a nice view from your table.

I've always seen Prets downtown but never actually went to one until they opened a location in Reynolds Club. It's a great place to grab a quick bite that is conveniently located—right across the street from the library and within a 7 minute walk from anywhere on North campus. Prices are a bit expensive relative to other on-campus locations, but I appreciate that they use organic ingredients, freshly prepare their food items each day, and also donate any food items that are left unsold at the end of each day.

The spicy Caesar salad wrap was amazing. I had some chips and a spindrift. The service- I’ve not seen this level of unprofessionalism, rude, disrespectful, uncaring “employees” in a long time. They were talking about the customers, cursing out loud at each other. I advice: get your stuff and leave and don’t expect any level of customer service, these people have no manners and don’t care for their jobs or customers.

The staff in this place has always been cold. It was fine to me as nothing went wrong. But today, when I used my credit card to pay, the staff did not see the card on my hand and kept asking which payment I chose. The environment is noisy. I intepreted as I stood in front of the wrong credit card machine as this place had several (the fact that I, who is at the same position every time, kept being ordered by staff to use different card machines are also ridiculous; one machine for one position; why it isn't the rule here?). So, I kept switching places and felt confused as I never saw a payment on the credit card machine. This was a problem that could be solved until the staff questioned me, suggesting I was the one at fault. I should really just leave as I am so pissed that I feel full. I will never go back to this place during my time at Uchicago. I always keep my word.

Fairly good and quick but expensive; OK given it was crowded with a bunch of busy students. Chicken parm wrap was alright but I almost burned my fingers taking it off the hot shelf. They could clean up the tables more often, that would be nice. Additionally, the service was only OK, took a bit to get my coffee order straightened out, but still a good spot for meeting people.

Google
Really extravagant location to eat at at University of Chicago which feels more like you are eating on the set of Harry Potter than in a college dinning hall. This is contrasted against the very collegiate atmosphere of students eating and studying together with computers at relatively new feeling tables and attached eateries. Would have loved to see this location at night all lit up on the inside or with the fireplaces going.

Most of time the Pret here is great, but the past few times I’ve gone have all been ruined by the same employee (she has a lazy eye). The last time I went, I was charged for a large even though I received a medium. Today, I went and ordered a large with oat milk, explicitly stating that I wanted oat milk because I can’t have normal milk due to food intolerances. I noticed as she was making my drink, she put normal milk in it instead, so when she handed it to me, I tried to clarify that I wanted normal milk. She then proceeded to shut me down unnecessarily rudely, claiming that I had never said oat milk, and when asked if there was any way I could exchange it, said no. I wouldn’t have minded if she just said that she’d misheard but couldn’t exchange it anymore, but she went out of her way to argue that I hadn’t said oat milk, even though I know I did and my friend with me also heard me say it. I ended up leaving because I didn’t want to hold up the line, but I’ve genuinely never had such a horrible experience with any employee before. I would give it 0 stars if I could.

Yelp
A reliable, tasty place for a quick meal when you're tired of the dining halls. I usually enjoy the cheddar or egg salad sandwiches, but the wraps are nice too. The options can be limited at times, but that's to be expected on a college campus. The drinks are nice as well, but I've seen the chai latte made, and it's exactly how I used to whip one up at home with the same store-bought syrup. Still good, though, just not worth going out for.

Yelp
After some disappointing experiences during the darker years of my life, I would never have thought you would be able to find me inside a Pret again. But lo and behold, they seem to have opened one in the Reynolds Club a few blocks from my office, and it is open during the summer and adjoins onto a big quasi-shady courtyard, making this an option worth having in the rotation. And somehow the food is a little better than I remember? The salads are almost enough for a light lunch, and reasonably tasty. If you know my previous opinion of Pret, this is loudly applauding with faint praise.

Yelp
Pret replaced Einstein Bros. Bagels at C-Shop inside Reynold's Club. I love Pret and was super excited when they opened this year. I would say I probably spent 95% of all my Maroon Dollars (and all my food money) at Pret. If you're new to Pret, get a salad but don't forget the dressing and the free bread that it comes with. I love the Kale Caesar and the Chicken Avocado salads. For breakfast, I always get the Egg Avocado Breakfast Baguette or the Ham Cheese Croissant (tastes kinda like a pizza tbh). I love their tomato soup and grilled cheese toasts as well!! Ok, I will stop listing all the things I love because I truly love almost everything at Pret. Tips: I would say come before 9:00pm, because they usually run out of food items late into the night. The line can also get pretty busy during eating hours (i.e. lunch time and dinner time). They also don't honor the Pret App free coffees/rewards which is mentioned on the app.

Yelp
DO NOT order hot chocolate here, unless you don't like your hot chocolate sweet. The hot chocolate here is somewhere between tasteless and bitter.

Yelp
Glad to have another on-campus option.. however: Service is crummy. Everyone has a frownie-face and looks inconvenienced anytime they take your order. Food is very good but they are often out of items. Coffee and tea are so-so.. everything sorta tastes the same.

Yelp
I used to love going into Pret a Manger when I spent a summer in London. This place in the Reynolds Club doesn't even deserve to use the name. All the cashiers are as rude as can be, shouting at every customer "NEXT GUEST" with the clear implication that you are anything but a guest in this get-'em-in / get'em out establishment. I bought a bottle of water and a turkey sandwich and was shouted at to pay $11.56 -- clearly there was a totalling error, because during transaction, the cashier was talking with someone else behind the register. And as was already shouting for the "NEXT GUEST" it seemed pointless to argue. Never going in there again.

Yelp
CAUTION!!! THIS LOCATION DOES NOT ACCEPT PRET GIFT CARDS!!! I am so disappointed. I used to love eating at Pret and asked for a Pret gift card for Christmas. I was so excited to be able to use it while at school. HOWEVER, when I tried to use the gift card, it was rejected. I was told that the UChicago location does not accept Pret gift cards... even though it is a normal Pret??? When I spoke to customer service to ask for a refund, I was told that there was nothing they could do (even though I had the receipt for the unused gift card). I don't understand why I wasn't able to receive a refund. It doesn't make sense as most people would assume that all locations would accept gift cards, so you would think that they would be able to rectify this misunderstanding. Now I have a gift card that I don't know what to do with as I am unable to use it, and I am not sure if I will ever go back to Pret :/
