The Best Bars in Athens | Eater Atlanta

"This newly opened Bottleworks restaurant is already drawing crowds for its eclectic, neon-tinged decor and daily happy hour specials. The modern menu draws inspiration from chef Kenny Nguyen’s Vietnamese roots, and the cocktails follow suit, featuring Southeast Asian ingredients like pandan, matcha, and Sông Cái-spiced Roselle gin. The Pandan Colada is a must-try, though you really can’t go wrong with any of the Instagram-worthy sips. A thoughtful selection of non-alcoholic drinks and a tight wine list round out the experience. Reservations are highly recommended at this popular spot, though you can also order the full menu at the first-come, first-served bar." - Sarah Bisacca

One of the best new restaurants in town! Don’t leave without trying the chicken skins. There is nothing bad on the menu. We went on Lunar New Year and chef Kevin had curated some special dishes. He was adding some of his grandmothers homemade pickled bok choy to one of the dishes that was excellent. Thought and care put into every dish and every guest.

We arrived and we were able to be seated without a reservation, which was very nice. Once seated, we had to wait several minutes to be served probably around 8 to 10. We were offered a free appetizer which was very kind of them. I also ordered a beer and got a glass of wine, which they quickly remedied. As far as the food goes, somethings were good. Some things were OK. We ordered the cucumber appetizer, which was nice. Definitely something to split with 2 to 3 people. Definitely also has a kick. I would get this again. We got the pork skewer as well for an appetizer. It was enjoyable. I would also get this again. The sauce was nice. The pork was tender, and the nuts made a good addition. For the main course, we split the omelette and the drunken noodles. The omelette I would get again and it was my first time trying something like this. We got the shrimp and pork mix. The drunken noodle noodles was very celery salt forward. A little too saucy for my liking. A unique flavor profile that eventually became overwhelming. I wouldn’t get this again. We tried the pandan cake which we both enjoyed. All in all, I would give this place a solid, four out of five. The atmosphere is cool. I really like the music. The food is OK. The service was well trained and I really appreciated how everyone worked together. I would go again

Got the crunchy chicken salad which is pulled chicken with a crunchy cracker also delicious. Ended with a salt of the land drink which was fantastic. The bartender was knowledgeable. I watched her training a girl doing very well. Will go back again

Overall rating: 4.5 stars, rounded to 5. Modern Vietnamese restaurant that’s a welcome addition to the Athens restaurant scene. I tried a number of “small shares” and one “large share”. Didn’t try pho on this occasion though I’ve had it earlier. There wasn’t a single dish that was bad. Some were good and some very good. Their menu isn’t extensive and that I think is a good thing — there are no duds. The rice paper pizza is quite interesting in that it combines traditional Vietnamese flavors and textures and presents it a novel form. I enjoyed the pear salad as well — the freshness of flavors that one associates with Vietnamese food came through well. But my favorite was the monkfish (large share) dish. The prices were quite reasonable too!

I enjoyed myself so much at Pretty Boy that a lady at the neighboring table asked me what I was eating because she could see the pure joy on my face and wanted that too. I know many others won’t necessarily feel the same, but the flavors tasted like home to me. Fresh, citrusy, and crunchy is how I would describe the chicken salad, which was my favorite dish. The street corn was an absolute mess but also yummy. The ribs were sweet, sticky, and savory. They were the highlight for my husband. The banh xeo, though good, was my least favorite. We visited on a Monday night, where there were Happy Hour specials running all day. There is plenty of paid parking in the Bottleworks area and the lot behind it. The tables inside are VERY close to each other, hence my neighbor seeing my pure joy. My husband and I ended up having nice chats with both tables next to us, but this might otherwise be an introvert’s nightmare. The servers were fantastic, the food was wonderful, and I can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.

Wonderful experience. I think one of the better and more unique menus in Athens. Short ribs, pear & grapefruit salad & the salmon crudo being the highlights. Spicy beef ramen was good, the meat was immaculate but the broth had a sweet finish that wasn’t for me and definitely lacked on spice. Overall, a great restaurant. Service was excellent.

Pretty Boy is easily one of my favorite spots in Athens. The monkfish I had on my first visit was next-level, flaky, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The pickle-herb salad on top adds this fresh, tangy kick that honestly takes the whole dish to another level. Most recently I came with a birthday crew and had the ribeye, which was amazing too. The fish sauce caramel? So good I could’ve ordered that as my next drink. Some honorable mentions: always get the Viet Street Corn. It’s one of the best starters, no question. The salmon crudo is also up there, even if it leans on the smaller side. I also tried a bite of the beef carpaccio and it was seriously delicious. Great spice level and bold, well-balanced flavors. I’m definitely ordering it next time. The service is always great and the drinks are just as thoughtful as the food, creative, balanced, and made to match the vibe. Can’t wait to go back!

Pretty boy has some of the best Pho I have ever had. The quality of the ingredients is obviously very high. The kitchen staff definitely know what they’re doing and certainly made my food with love. The high quality experience doesn’t stop at the food, drinks here are unique and delicious as well. I also appreciated the kindness of the waitstaff and how fast the food came out.
