"Pretty Dirty opens on November 13 in a small room in the 5 Line Tavern. It replaces the shuttered Room 31, which closed in March. The space seats 14 and offers a cocktail tasting menu designed by Erik Lund, a veteran of Mess Hall and République. Classic cocktails and proprietary blends will be served, with spirits from master distillers and house-made ingredients. Rare and natural wines, as well as snacks including Bub And Grandma’s sourdough bread, are also available. Reservations are recommended and can be booked through Tock." - Mona Holmes

Small, intimate cocktail lounge hidden at the back of 5line tavern. The bartender is deeply knowledgeable about classic cocktails and spirits and has used his knowledge to create some delicious, creatively named berverages. The space somehow manages to blend the feel of speakeasy with a 1970's living room, in the best way possible. The small snack menu blurs the lines between high end dining and after school snacks (Ruffles with trout roe, for example).

-Hidden inside the 5Line Tavern. -the place is very nice but super small. Reservations/tickets highly recommended. When we were there, our reservation was only good for two hours, which was about right. -Pretty small selection of snacks, so it might be a good idea to come here not hungry. A great menu of innovative drinks with really knowledgeable, patient and friendly staff. A little bit of everything for most people. The menu changes to reflect the two special drinks daily.

Pretty Dirty is tucked inside a sports bar; a cozy, intimate microcosm of social interaction where the bartenders are impossibly friendly, considerate, and knowledgeable about their craft. You should be so lucky to taste the cocktails here -- each resplendent in their own unique manner. My concoction tasted like a campfire liquefied and served cold. For one brief, glorious period, Pretty Dirty made us all forget about COVID, and there is no higher praise than that. Please consider giving this bar a shot, it truly is a hidden gem.

If this review was just for interesting, well made drinks, this would be a 5 star review. The drinks were high quality, thoughtful, boozy, and unique. However, there are some serious flaws that detracted from our overall experience. Initially, the rethink on the room misses the mark. We sat under a bright sodium orange light between two mirrors which intensified the effect of sitting in an industrial parking lot. Our various servers spilled our drinks on us, repeatedly. This was hard to clean up because of a napkin rationing issue. My wife was reprimanded for losing her coaster which had fallen to the floor — because it was a thin sheet of paper— and had to find it from under the table before receiving her new drink. The chips are literally just a bag of ruffles in a bowl. Our server was put out that we asked for a utensil for splitting various messy dishes between four people. He ultimately gave us a single knife, but we were made to feel that this was a highly inconvenient and irregular request. The takeaway - come for the very excellent well priced drinks, but certainly know what you’re in for with respect to the mood. Great chemistry is reserved for the drinks, not the vibe.

A great and unique craft cocktail experience in an unexpected part of town. I love the creativity behind the bar, even with regard to classic cocktails. I ordered two of my favorite cocktails, a Daiquiri and Negroni. The bartender quite creative with the ingredients used (rum blends, vermouth blends, etc) while still staying true to what I expected from these classics. Beyond classics, they dive deeper and more experimental on their menu, which I also suggest you delve into. You may find seating difficult especially if you come during prime time hours, but they are a small (read tiny) space. So don’t be turned off if you’re told to wait, because believe me the wait will be worth it. It may be also difficult to find the actual bar, and while a sign of some sort would be helpful (since I don’t believe they’re trying to be a speakeasy), patience and some persistence will ultimately pay off, as the discovery will be worth it.
