The 13 Most Romantic Restaurants For Date Night In Houston

"The Acadian and Cajun restaurant Prey in the Galleria area is the sort of cool and romantic place that inspires you to sit on the same side of the booth as your date. During the day there’s plenty of natural light, but at night the lamps give off just enough light for you to see your date and the spicy seafood gumbo when it hits your table. So canoodle over creamy crawfish fondue and watch the sunset through the floor-to-ceiling windows. On weekends you can stay late for “Prey After Dark,'' where you can listen to live jazz and have a nightcap." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Chef Jonny Rhodes Will Open a New Market in the Fifth Ward | Eater Houston

"I read that Prey, located in the space formerly occupied by soufflé outpost Rise, opened with a menu from executive Chef Justin Kent that draws on his childhood in Baton Rouge, featuring dishes like Jamaican-roasted oxtails, shrimp topped with Cajun cream, and fried oysters on nachos." - Adele Chapin

This restaurant will be a must go anytime I’m in Houston. The lamb chops were cooked and seasoned very well. I also ordered the yams. I did taste all of the sides and they were excellent! Greens were a tad bit salty but edible. I did not order a alcoholic beverage but the server did come with strawberry mimosa “reunion” shots! I cant think of his name but he was awesome!!

This restaurant has quickly become one of my Houston favorites. I ordered the Imperial Cajun Salmon while my husband had the lamb chops, and both dishes were cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The ambiance was spot-on—a chic, lively vibe with a DJ playing great music that really set the mood. It’s an ideal place for date night or a fun outing with friends. Parking in the garage was convenient, the space was clean, and our waitress delivered excellent service from start to finish. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Beautiful atmosphere! Dj was perfect. Loved the strong drink, Food was good could use a bit more seasoning but overall five stars!

Google
Well the ambiance was about the only thing good here. The food was far from the price point they were charging. The rice was semi-hard and dry then the lamb chops were average. My companion ordered the oxtails and mashed potatoes, which were average at best (sorry no picture). The oxtails seemed like neckbones to be honest. I’ll never be back.

Google
This restaurant is amazing from the service to the food. The atmosphere is amazing filled with love and vibes you can’t beat. Our server Noah was very attentive and is great and highly recommended. Now let me get to Demi she was checking in. I’m talking about her last but she is not Least!!!!! She is lovely, really sweet caring and her vibe is unique and unmatched!!!

Google
We had an amazing experience at this restaurant. Demi❤️ made us feel welcome, loved and appreciated with her infectious energy. Noah, our server, was also incredible. He was entertaining and very knowledgeable about the menu. AND LET’S NOT FORGET ABOUT THE CHEF!!! Whomever was in the kitchen did their thing!!!!! The Acadian Pasta, Brussels, and Prey Balls were all delicious. I dreamt about my food the whole night. It was that good!

Google
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday, the first thoughts walking in the place the ambiance was nice but on the Thursday evening it was dead. The service was mid, i told the waitress it was my birthday and she didnt even acknowledge it. We both order the oxtails and shrimp,we picked off our food the whole time. My boyfriend couldn’t eat his food cuz the oxtails was extremely too fatty. I ate my food, the taste of it was okay but later that night i had the worst stomach pain. It made my birthday dinner so unpleasant and for $150 I would not be going back.

Google
This was my first time here and I must say everything was amazing from the food, the atmosphere, the music, the service and the drinks. It’s my birthday and they took great care of us just because . Kalynn was amazing.. she was very attentive and very kind. She came to check on us and brought everything we needed. We ordered oxtail surf and turf, the big cat was great, the fish and shrimp were seasoned and fried to perfection. The Acadian pasta was amazing as well!!! Demi was also amazing. Very welcoming from the time we came and service was fast! I will be back when I return to Houston. We also had the crawfish fondue and the gumbo was spectacular..

Yelp
Nice vibe dining experience! Sunday girls night out to catch up! They do insist on your whole party being present before sitting down which I understand but service was still kind of slow. Food - I had the oxtail empanadas (menu description made it seem like one but you're given 3 mini empanadas) to start and the imperial Cajun salmon as my main with a side of Brussels sprouts. My only complaint is that i wish the mash that came with the salmon was a bit creamier. Other than that salmon was decent and nothing spectacular about the sprouts. Drink - I started with the Golden Hour and ended with a passion fruit margarita. Golden hour was actually worth the price because I was definitely feeling it! Passion fruit was refreshing. This place also had hookah lol i wish they weren't limited on their flavors but still hit regardless.

Yelp
Came to Prey and sat at the bar for 2. Bartender was super sweet and we ordered a lychee martini and it was delicious. The ambiance was nice and they were playing great rnb music for the night. There was hookah available for outdoor seating which you have to walk by all the smoke/hookah to enter into the front entrance. (Probably not great for kids or babies to breathe in) Let's get into the food. (I've dropped photos for reference) - We ordered the oxtail empanadas and I was super excited for these until I broke one in half and I see 99% air and 1% oxtail. From the oxtail I was able to find, the taste was good so I was disappointed on why more than half of the empanadas were close to being empty. Mind you this dish was $16... for air. - our main we ordered the filet king. This was a surf and turf with crab meat, shrimp and scallop. Once we got our dish delivered, we noticed there was no scallop. We ask our bartender to check in with the chef and she comes back to tell us that the chef informed her that they ran out, so he's making us more shrimp. We were thrown off by this because we weren't told about the dish missing scallop until after we had said something/noticed it. The food runner who delivered the dish didn't mention a word about the missing ingredient. We didn't want more shrimp so we politely declined and asked for the scallop to be taken off the tab for the night which they did. Steak was on the thinner side but the flavor and sauce on the steak was delicious. Price was $75. - Side of Truffle Mash, great mashed potatoes, but there wasn't even the smallest hint of truffle.... Price: $11 Truthfully the food wasn't bad in terms of taste. It was just disappointing because the food was not as advertised. The food runners looked like they weren't approachable. And forgot to mention, the women's bathroom had no light switch. So it was completely dark with one toilet stall wrapped in a trash bag. We even tried to activate the light sensor by walking around and jumping throughout the bathroom but nothing happened. There was also an auto 20% gratuity which made no sense for 2 people at the bar.. we were not told of the auto grat until we checked the receipt. All in all, very overpriced for the way the restaurant operated.

Yelp
My first time here at PREY . Drinks were A1 . No complaints on that . But let's get into this food . Starting with the crawfish fondue - literally it gave Velveeta with a can of rotelle and crawfish with melted mozzarella on top. The mozzarella cheese that was actually on top was barely melted.. I'm gonna rate that a 3 out of 10. For the oxtail empanadas when they walk out the plate, the oxtail empanadas didn't have any oxtail meat in it, but overall the taste was about a 6 out of 10. I really don't have high expectations. Don't label something as a fondue and it's not a fondue. They definitely could've did better with the empanadas but overall the drinks were the best part if I were to come back, I would literally just come back to sit at the bar for the drinks. See photos . Now, as far as service, our waiter was amazing and the ambience was on point, but I just need the food to match the energy .

Yelp
I visited PREY in Texas for my spouse's birthday, and while the atmosphere was very cute and romantic, perfect for a girls' night or date night, I don't think it's the kind of spot you bring your family to. They play live R&B music with a DJ, which definitely adds to the vibe, but the restaurant itself is very small (about 15 tables), so reservations can be hard to get. We arrived early but couldn't be seated until our actual reservation time. The prices are definitely upscale, but the space and food quality didn't match the price point in my opinion. I ordered the King Cat, which came with catfish, shrimp, and boudin rice. The catfish was cooked perfectly, crispy and not too salty, but it lacked seasoning. I didn't mind since I'm not big on salt, but others might. The shrimp was fine, but the boudin rice was mushy and honestly pretty awful; it didn't taste fresh and had the texture of mashed potatoes instead of rice. For $39, the plate felt overpriced, especially since we waited an hour for our food. Other dishes at the table were also just okay, we all agreed the food was around a 6.5 to 7 out of 10, but for me, it was closer to a 5 out of 10. We spent over $200 total, and it didn't feel worth it compared to other upscale restaurants I've been to. For example, I've had better experiences at places like 51fifteen, which is truly high-end but doesn't overcharge for something as simple as catfish. Customer service was decent (about a 6.5/10). Our waitress wasn't at fault for the long wait, and she did refill our waters, but overall, the service was just okay. I respect that this is a Black-owned business, and I encourage people to try it at least once, maybe during happy hour, but for me personally, I don't see myself returning. My overall rating would be a 6 out of 10: great vibes and music, but food quality and pricing don't match up.

Yelp
We needed a place to eat before the Cowboy Carter concert so we checked out Prey on Post Oak and really enjoyed the experience. The dark, moody ambiance gave it a cool vibe, and the service was attentive and friendly throughout. The menu is on the smaller side, but everything we tried was packed with flavor. I mean, like, really packed. Seasonings and butter, my two favorite food groups. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the oxtail empanadas were good, and the mac and cheese was macin' and cheesing. Prices are on the higher end, but that's expected for the area. Bonus: it's right above Original Ninfa's. Great spot if you're looking for rich, flavorful food in a stylish setting.

Yelp
I went on a Sunday for brunch, and it was a vibe. I will say the service wasn't great. Not that they were mean or anything, but it just seemed a little chaotic--maybe we had a new waiter or something. The food also took a while to come out. That being said, the food was absolutely delicious. The portions were a bit on the smaller side, but the flavors were great. Acadian Shrimp & Grits: 9/10 It was really good! I especially liked the incorporation of spicy andouille sausage and crawfish into the grits. The shrimp were nice and crispy, and the flavor was there. However, I do wish the grits had a bit more flavor and spice throughout, and they skimped a little on the sausage and crawfish. I also got a side of catfish, which was well-seasoned, though it could've been crispier. Surf & Turf: 9/10 It had pretty much the same flavor profile, although it was a lot more filling. The oxtail was mouthwatering and tender--one of the best ways I've seen oxtail cooked in fine dining. Overall, this place is great if you want a brunch vibe and some good food. I'd just recommend ordering an appetizer or side to fill you up. P.S. They also have a lot of great alcoholic drinks lol
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
This place is cute, but I wouldn't go back. The cheapest item on the menu was $47, and the food wasn't great enough to justify the price. The server asked if we were celebrating anything, and we mentioned it was our anniversary--but they didn't acknowledge it at all. It was a bit awkward. I ordered the lamb chops, which arrived pretty cold. They were served on a wooden plate with a bunch of greens, and the fried rice wasn't great--3/10. My husband got the hibachi pasta, which was disappointing as well--4/10. There was nothing "hibachi" about it.

Yelp
Delicious! Very knowledgeable server! And they had hookah!!! An amazing playlist going. The chef came out for a second and he was hilarious. 100000% worth the price very very good

Yelp
Prey is a fine dining restaurant that impresses from the moment you walk in. With a business casual dress code, it sets the tone for an elevated experience, so come dressed accordingly. We chose Prey to celebrate a birthday, and from the start, our waiter was exceptionally kind, offering great recommendations for both food and drinks. I opted for their signature lamb chops, which arrived as a beautifully plated dish of four succulent lamb chops on a bed of seasoned rice. The savory sauce drizzled on top was perfectly balanced, adding a rich depth to the flavors. During the day, the restaurant is bright and airy due to natural lighting, but in the evening, the lights are dimmed for a more intimate ambiance. One unique aspect is the open kitchen, which allows diners to see the chefs in action. However, being so close to the kitchen, it did get noticeably warm and humid in the dining area. While the open concept is interesting, we left smelling of the grill and barbecue - something I wish was less noticeable with a private kitchen setup.

Yelp
The food is ALWAYS EXCELLENT!!! I had the Imperial Salmon, shrimp deviled eggs and Mac & Cheese! The service was great when I came in. We were seated immediately, but had to wait to be serviced. I had to ask twice for a waitress to come to our table. They weren't even busy. This was the only reason I left off one star. The ambiance is super cute. It's great for a girl's Night out or date night.
google avatar

Sydney F.

Yelp
Server was great, but the greatness stops there. First thing I was greated with was a leaky ceiling that dripped water on my pants. Ordered a Sprite to drink because the cheapest non alcoholic drink was a lemonade ($7) or a soda ($4). I assumed free refills--no, they don't have a fountain. They used cans, flight attendant style. You get a glass of Sprite that the first half of the can was used on someone else's cup an hour ago. Crab hash was okay at best. HEB hashbrowns that were soggy and oily and no crab in sight. And to top it off -- 3% credit card transaction fee. Not even gas stations do that anymore. Skip this place.
google avatar

Hang N.

Yelp
The food was excellent, my only positive is to the chef! If the service from the staff compared to the food, this would be a 5 - star establishment. Please be aware coming to this place in parties as there is a minimum tab to spend. This was not disclosed during reservation. There were servers hanging outside the front of the restaurant and one server doing all the work herself inside. We had a party of 5 and there was another party of 20. We definitely got hidden in the corners as we had to get the waiters attention several times. We had to ask for plates when she served us appetizers cause she left so quickly without making sure we had everything we needed. We had to ask for water refills cause she never looked at our table to see if we needed more drinks. This was not a good experience and I would not recommend coming here with big parties.
google avatar

Maximo D.

Yelp
If it sounds good, get it. This was the best experience. Drinks and food were fantastic. The DJ was dropping nothing but hits. The owner is so sweet and very attentive. We ordered a few things and EVERYTHING was superb. We need more businesses like this. 10/10 would recommend this gem
google avatar

Nikita W.

Yelp
Food was overpriced, spicy and salty. Food did not match the price. Crawfish Fondue was disgusting and salty
google avatar

Ash C.

Yelp
The ambiance and service were great! But the food was lacking. Majority of our meals came out cold and we had to send them back. The food was pretty bland especially the Imperial Salmon. It also took forever to get the bills. The drinks are also very pricey.
google avatar

Yelp
If you want good food and a nice date night or brunch atmosphere Prey is your spot. My husband and I came here last year for a date night. He got the oxtails and I got a shrimp dish. Both were very good I just wish he had more of the oxtails on his plate...he had 1 big 1. This time I came for brunch and got the shrimp and gritts. My friends got everything else on the menu...I wish I would have taken more pics. The oxtails this time was a very hefty portion and very tasty and def fall off the bone. The chicken wings were soo good and a little spicy which I loved. The drinks are very good but a little pricy I think 18 for a hard liquor drink (but was good and strong) and 8 for a mimosa...that's not too bad. The waiters was great. She had our waters and drinks flowing. I will def be back.
google avatar

Jennifer F.

Yelp
The food and drinks were absolutely amazing. The place is beautiful. I loved that it was family friendly. Great music.
google avatar

Ash H.

Yelp
This experience stood out for all the wrong reasons. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was off- the front door was open, letting in the hot muggy air making the dining area uncomfortably warm. The music in the main room was playing, but was drowned out by the loud music from the kitchen. Service was confusing at best. When we asked for a sample of wine, the staff brought us a small carafe with 2 straws- which felt like a joke than hospitality. Also, be prepared for an added gratuity on everything, which felt excessive given the service. As for "ladies night" do not expect much, it consists of a single special: a lemon drop. The redeeming qualities were the DJ which arrived later, & the food.
google avatar

Crystal W.

Yelp
So the D.J was a vibe on Thursday night and the Lemon drop I had that is $7 tasted like a mock tail. Only limited menu for dinner and if you not a seafood fan you would have to get what I ate which is the roasted chicken which is a grilled thigh. This was 4th of July around 9-10pm. Nice place for couples and girl parties cause that's all I saw no men unless the are cooking or the D.j. Our waiter was so nice tho. Adorable.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't know what it is, but this is the 3rd black owned establishment I've been to that I've had the worse experience at. Out of Turkey Leg Hut and Lost and Found I would have to say Prey is right along with it. To start off our reservations were for 2pm, we rcvd a txt 20-30 minutes before to let us know our table was ready, not only was it not ready the hostess or whatever her role was there was less than friendly or cordial and then she disappeared to wherever she needed to get to in the back and then served 2 other patrons at this tiny bar. The aesthetic was very nice, it was small and quaint, but we clearly didn't fit their aesthetics as we had just people staring at us like we were a problem. We finally get seated, we go over the menu, I scan everything as I typically do to find EXACTLY what I knew I was going to find and sure enough the "20% gratuity is included" on an order over $100. Cheapest item on the menu was probably $18.95. Everything else ranged from $45+ and the menu said we have to had spend $300 to what I understood was at minimum. Mind you we've been seated at this point for what seemed like forever and we weren't given water, no one checked on us, and we definitely felt like the odd man out. I will say that the gentleman that seated us was very sweet and kind, but that was practically it. I'm sure this establishment does well with perhaps maybe "like minded" folks or maybe even the more upper echelon type, but 0/10 wouldn't recommend. We kindly took our business downstairs to Ninfa's where they were extremely welcoming, took care of us promptly, and made us feel less like an inconvenience and authentically helpful, actually gave us tips about their other establishments and things to try out in the future. Needless to say we won't ever be going back to Prey. Whoever else they're catering to they can have it.
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
Dined solo at Prey in Houston and had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, the host made me feel genuinely welcome--warm, loving, and so friendly. She didn't just seat me; she made me feel at home, like I was visiting a close friend rather than dining out alone. That kind of energy is rare and truly appreciated. I ordered the Lazy Cat and it was fantastic--rich, flavorful, and beautifully done. Every bite was comforting and delicious. Whether you're dining alone or with a group, the hospitality here makes all the difference. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
stopped by Prey on Post Oak before the Cowboy Carter concert and had a great time. The dark, moody vibe was perfect, and the service was friendly and attentive. The menu is small but packed with flavo, seasonings and butter everywhere. The salmon was spot-on, the oxtail empanadas hit the mark, and the mac and cheese was delicious. Prices are a bit high, but that's typical for the area. Plus, it's right above Original Ninfa's. A great spot for rich, flavorful food in a stylish setting!

Mari M.

Yelp
Food was amazing. I got the Salmon and mash. Music was great. The DJ PLAYS the hits. Perfect!

nadia j.

Yelp
wait time for food was long when restaurant was empty, bill was improperly charged on account of the "extended happy hour", and food was mediocre and almost low quality. would not recommend this place if you're looking for more than alcohol. overpriced with small portions as well.

Dekyra W.

Yelp
Do not get the Lazy Cat. 0/10!! Definitely wasn't worth $40. The creamy spinach sauce was gross and too thick. In the description of the dish, it claims that it's supposed to be topped with lemon butter poached lump crab but there was no crab in sight on my dish just overly fried and crispy catfish, thick sauce, and itty bitty pieces of crawfish. When I asked the service to remind me of what i ordered so i could assure that I wasn't tripping she said that the meal came with either crawfish or crab but nowhere on the dish description does it say that. The service was horrible. At least a 30 minute wait for the meal and no apologies for the wait time being so long. The ambiance was nice though great for pics!
google avatar

Yelp
Met a group of friends for a birthday dinner. Service was horrible! There were not many people there but the waiter seemed too busy flirting with the girl at the host stand to pay attention to our table. What was really amazing, as they were talking, I caught the eye of the girl from the host stand and pointed to the waiter as we were waiving our hands franticly trying to get his attention.(She and the waiter were having a very animated conversation with very flirtatious body language). She then actually turned her back to me and ignored us! The bartender was sharing something on her phone with the waitstaff and overall there was no sense of urgency. It seemed like we were interrupting their night by being customers. It was so bad that we paid our check for the appetizers and drinks (I never got mine after waiting 20 min for a Jack & Sprite) and went to Nina's Resturant downstairs below and ate. Much better service and attitudes! It is a shame because I really wanted to like this place and I support minority owned businesses, but it was truly appalling. I think I may reach out to the owner or management.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Even had the chef come out and speak to us. 10/10. It was such a big portion and had left over for days and it still tasted amazing

Glayner R.

Yelp
The food was very good. The crawfish fondue was incredible. Unfortunately, we ordered the Acadian pasta which we could not eat because of how spicy it was. We let the waitress know we didn't eat spicy food and she didn't mention. The pasta was good, just too spicy for us. The Hibachi pasta was good, I'd say for the price they could add more protein, but overall good food. The appetizer and drinks came out very fast. The pasta took a while. They also charge a 20% gratuity already included on every party (just FYI) cause didn't know this and it really surprised me as I sat in a party of 2. First time I see this, and it was not a good impression mostly since the food took so long and the restaurant was not full when we were there. The restaurant is small but very cute vibes. I'd recommend trying, but just be aware

Layna C.

Yelp
All the food was delicious.... Ask for the light skinned biscuits. It was delicious . Definitely will come again

Yelp
This is one of the best dining experiences that I have had in a while! From the drinks, to the service, to the food. I was impressed the entire visit. It is such a cool and chic spot. It looks very modern and new. They have all the trendy things you would see in newer restaurants including the grass backdrop with the light up sign, big mirrors for a photo op, and trendy furniture and art work. On to the food, I was so excited to try brunch here. I had the fish and grits. It was a golden fired catfish with southern style grits topped with creamy spinach, bacon and crab sauce. Now if you have been following my page for a while, you know how I feel about shrimp or fish and grits, so you know it has to be good for me to rate them a 5 out of 5, lol! I also had a side of eggs and was able to try out some of the wings and french toast. Everything was delicious! Of course brunch is not complete without the drinks right? The mimosas are great! They do have a flight available with a variety of drinks. You can choose from the strawberry, blueberry, pineapple, more. They were all good and strong. It's $50, but well worth it. You can also share it as well. If you are in Houston, I would definitely recommend trying them out!

Yelp
Picked Prey on a whim for my bday dinner. The food was AMAZING. Legit best appetizer ever was the brisket deviled egg. The sweet bbq brisket on the traditional deviled egg, topped with onion straws knocked my socks off. I also had the Peach Hennessy Sidecar which was one of the most well made mixed cocktails I've had in a restaurant setting. Dangerous how good and smooth it was. For my entree, I chose the Acadian pasta and Lord help me. I couldn't even finish the portion size but it was soooo flavorful. Everything about it was so right. I can't wait to come back on a brunch date.

Yelp
This late night jewel definitely has a distinctive ambiance. The happy hour menu doesn't offer a lot of variety as far as drinks and food, but the Prey After Dark menu has a lot to offer. I'll have to come during this timeframe to see. The service was a little spotty, we waited a while for drinks and someone to take our orders. I had the gumbo, which was spicy but delicious! The lemon drops were nice. I would go back to give them another try After Dark!

Yelp
This was our first time dinning at Prey. The Service and atmosphere was great but the Shrimp and oxtail was an absolute fail. For the price, the significant amount of fat and limit meat on oxtail was the first time I've ever experienced this before when ordering oxtail in general. Unfortunately, the last visit will be my first and last time coming, and it didn't help that the chair I was sitting in came apart the section I leaned back.

Yelp
The food here was great. No issues there the service however is mid and that doesn't mean horrible but unfortunately due to the inc automatic grat the server was unfortunately not attentive at all. She never checked on us but once to ask if we wanted to spend more money. We asked for water 4 times which was very unfortunate which we waited over a hour to get out of the building after finally getting food. I wouldn't recommend sitting and dining but I'd recommend getting food at the bar or to go. I've seen the mixed reviews online and let me be honest your sever matters!! The hostess btw were amazing they were inviting we almost wish our hostess could have served us

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday evening for dinner. I like the ambiance here and thought the light fixtures and candles were very elegant. However, I did not like how the photographer asked everyone to take pics and then presented you with several framed pics for sale at the end. I think that they should have asked if we wanted a pic and told the purpose of the pic (we weren't sure if it was for social media or what). They have a whole corner area dedicated to printing and framing these pics. Service was friendly but the bus staff service was sometimes came short. My dining partner and I did not have a huge appetite, so we opted for the Creole Salmon and Brussels sprouts side. The salmon is definitely enough to share, and so we asked for 2 share plates, but they only brought 1. It took a few mins to flag down someone to ask for a 2nd plate, and then the employee tried to take away the 1st plate, and so we had to ask a 2nd employee and finally got our 2 plates. The flavors of the food were great. Brussels sprouts were a bit undercooked, as it was hard to cut them into bite-sized pieces with the knives presented. The Uptown, mocktail version, was beautiful and tasty.

Yelp
My first here I had their brunch which was delicious. But I had to come back and try their dinner. I'm so happy I did because this salmon was probably one of the best I've ever had! Their customer service is great as well the front of the restaurant staff were very professional and friendly. Our server was polite and offered some suggestions. The food came out fast and was delicious . I will definitely come back again.

Yelp
I visited on Sunday . Was not crowded but people were gathering pleasant crowd : primary black; but is diverse food : I ordered the king cat : catfish over a bed of Cajun rice topped with 3 fired shrimp and crawfish cream sauce . It was good . Flavorful with a bit of spice . Worth $47 ? No . More like a $37 dish it hey the whole menu is about $10-15 over priced. It's filling. Drinks: I stick the same cocktail : French 75 made well. I had 2 ...forgot the bartender name, but she's a slim light skin woman, very pleasant. Ambiance : vibe dinning . Music is playing at a higher volume than fine dinning, while the ambiance is consistent with fine dinning, I would definitely not classify this as such. Now there were a lot of personal conversations going on in the bar area with employees; I can see why some reviews complain of poor customer service and professionalism. Parking : I took an Uber. There's site parking in a garage or low level. - hookah is only served on Thursday There's a guy there taking pro photos . They are $25 per frame . Framed in a 5x7 glass framw

Yelp
We made a reservation and walked into the restaurant excited. Brunch was packed. Once we sat, it took a server ten minutes to even talk to us. Once we did that, they were out of several food and drink options. As we sat we saw others having a range of emotions and experiences. Some really turning up and others disgruntled for lack of service or wait on food and drinks. We also saw folks eating from plastic cutlery which is kinda disappointing for such a nice place. After 30 minutes we got water. And by 40 minutes with no cocktails or food ordered we walked out. Most disappointing part was when we told our server we were leaving, she shrugged in defeat. I'll always try and support black owned businesses. But maybe instead of a videographer during brunch hire more help.

Yelp
First time here, so my partner brought me for my Birthday Dinner. Just us plus the kid. (13) It was a Thursday, 7:30 reservations so it was not to turnt up and crowded. The music was good. I was worried at first bring my daughter but it all worked out. They started me off with a B Day shot of choice. (Love that!) The food was really good. Drinks are amazing! The only complaints I have is that they did not trim the fat off of the oxtails. But they were tender! My daughter LOVED the dip. She is the one who got the pasta with no meat. We ended up just getting the meat on the side because they were still charging the same price. But she did not even really eat it because it was way to spicy. The food/drinks are on the pricey side and I'm not sure if it is really worth it. But I think everyone should try for themselves. Was the food good, yes..will I be back..probably not. Unless they switch up the menu. Keep in mind there is an automatic gratuity on a party of 4 or more. BUT it was just 3 of us. If you spend over $170, 20% is automatically added as well. That was not hard to do! It just took us by surprise, we still left extra but I think that's kind of weird. All in all it was a great experience.

Yelp
Very nice vibrant spot with some really good food. I got the oxtails empanadas to begin with and they were very tasteful. The meat was very juicy and the casing was fried just perfect. They paired it with a creamy sauce and it just made it that much better. The oxtail platter was amazing as well. The oxtails were full of flavor and just falling off the bone. The sauce that covered them was very juicy and flavors were great. The one thing I will tell you to stay away from is the Mac and cheese. They tasted bad. Overall though great service and great food. Pair this with the rooftop movies right above and you have the perfect date night.

Yelp
Highly over priced. I'm sorry, but for a black business, I get make ur money. But please offer nicer presentation. Quicker service. Faster food delivery from kitchen to table. The young waitress was very nice. No problem with staff. Great views I will say. Nice greenery outside the windows. Again, the food was not up to par with price. Any comments on here that suggests otherwise may be paid actors.

Yelp
I want to say our server was an angel and I am going to give her a 6 out of 5.TaCarrie you are a beautiful soul. Now to the food I don't eat grits like that. I am not a sweet person all the time either. So my options were limited. I am came to Prey for a friend's birthday brunch. I wanted Crab Trap Hash everyone at the table did. Guess what they didn't have any of . Mostly everything else on the menu I didn't eat. I didn't want anything sweet, I was tired of chicken, I had lamb chops on Friday. So Crab Trap Hash it is. No, it wasn't. They didn't have any. So I had to get a side of bacon three strips for $8 two scrambled eggs for $6. I wanted to add toast like regular toast couldn't do that because they don't serve regular toast. You have brunch and you don't have toast. Make it make sense? So, that is a 1. An associate order shrimp and grits without bacon. Guess what came in their meal bacon. I give that a 0. Now I will say I did taste the oxtail and it was decent but nothing to go tell everyone about. I will give them a 3.5. How do you have Brunch without coffee and tea. I give that a 1. I also don't like the fact the Bruch menu is so limited. I give it a 1. I dislike establishments that act like they can't split a check. Now they allowed the check to be split because of the food mishaps. So, you can split a check. Put it in writing on the menu. I give that experience a 3. The manager did allow for it but the policy should be in writing. Just makes for a better customer experience. Total 2.5 I don't think I would return.

Yelp
I arrived for lunch at half past twelve and the restaurant was totally empty. Not one customer in the place. That was my first clue and I should have listened to it. The hostess was the only waitress for the big empty room. I ordered the half po boy and seafood gumbo. The only thing resembling seafood in the gumbo was an inedible crab shell, and the only other things in the soup were thin sausage slices. The soup was flavorful. Two tiny fried filets of catfish and the bread was slathered w mayonnaise. But the real 'elevated experience' was the bill, which included not only a MANDATORY 20% tip but also AN INVITATION TO TIP MORE ON TOP OF THAT. No sir! A tip is a VOLUNTARY GESTURE at the choice of the diner.

Yelp
Food and atmosphere was a whole vibe, the staff was very friendly and attentive to the customers. This place has a live DJ nice but not to loud to enjoy

Yelp
Tried to have dinner here last Saturday. The hostess was lazy. Didn't seem to want to get up from her seat to help us. Told us like 5 times we'd have to sit outside. She offered to call other guest to confirm if they'd still be coming, but she NEVER called and proceeded to tell use we could sit outside for the 6th time. So we finally sit outside, there was a dark skinned guy that told us he could help us (he was very nice but I didn't get his named. He had another table outside he was attending to). Then a couple minutes later an older lady came outside and told us the table we were sitting at was reserved. We just got up and left. There was maybe 4 tables that had guest and a the bar. But other than that the restaurant was EMPTY. I try to support black owned businesses as much as I can. But it's so hard when they put little to no effort.

Yelp
Came in for Sunday brunch and there was no wait. Server was attentive and provided great feedback on menu options. I was a little concerned on how fast the food arrived but everything was hot, fresh and well seasoned. This is my second time visiting this restaurant for brunch and they do not miss. I enjoyed the music , not too loud and able to have a conversation with my friend while the music played in the background which is a plus.

Yelp
I absolutely love prey! I dream about this food in my sleep!!! I've been here twice and the service is always great. The waiters are very attentive. I'm going with my husband tonight, so thought I'd leave a review as I usually don't go back to a lot of these aesthetic fancier restaurants since the quality of the food is always mid. So me coming here the 3rd time is crazy!! Love love love the salmon over mash and Acadian pasta. Tried a bit of my friends catfish aswell and it's was amazing. 10/10!!
