Price Hill Chili Family Restaurant

It's not a trip to Cincinnati for this westsider without breakfast at Price Hill Chili. We had a large group ordering everything from omelets, goetta, sandwiches, French toast, and chili cheese fries. All came out hot and delicious. The staff was friendly as always ( Our family has been going there for like 40 years!) They have added on since I was a kid, but the quality and service has stayed the same. Good family atmosphere, something for everyone.

Probably the worst staff I’ve ever encountered. We’re from out of town and decided to stop by this chili parlor to give it a try. When we walked in, the waiting area—right next to the bathroom—reeked of toilet cleaner, which was already off-putting. We waited about twenty minutes before finally being seated. Our waitress, who had freckles, was incredibly rude and barely said two words to us the entire time. I tried to make small talk and mentioned that we were visiting from out of town, but she completely ignored us and walked away. When she returned, she practically threw our items down on the table and left without a word. If you’re visiting from out of town, I’d strongly recommend skipping this place. For a local restaurant, they clearly have no idea how to treat their customers also waited a hour for are food and the whole time the host kept bringing more people to their tables with no food coming out staff was arguing and cussing and a hundred more problems stay away.

We have had Gold Star and Skyline and Gold star is our favorite of those two but wanted to try some non chain locations to see which one felt was best. Out of the 4 we tried and adding the 2 chains. Price Hill Chili Family Restaurant ranked #2 for us. Very good chili dog and very kind informative service from 4th generation family.

I had a terrific dinner here tonight with my husband. We sat at the bar because I looked the more intimate atmosphere. We were greeted by a server wearing a mask that took our drink orders. We had the option of an actual menu or using a QR code for the menu. We started with the greek salad which was big enough for two to share. It was very fresh and delicious. I ordered the Greek yogurt and my husband had the Boom Boom burger. Both entrees came out quickly, hot and tasty. We also ordered the Greek fries as neither sandwich came with a side. For dessert we had the traditional baklava and cheesecake. The baklava seemed to have been frozen but it was still good. The cheesecake was thick with a creamy top. We really enjoyed our service and other customers in the bar as well as our food!

Chili was very good. I got 4 ways & 5 ways to go, with coneys. The bag ofcheese they give is nice sized. Don't forget to get the wings. They are GREAT!! I enjoy the bar area. Love talking to the locals.

Great food and great service. I've passed this place so many times. I had no idea how great this place is. Bring someone or a group.

I have gone to this restaurant since I was a child. I have NEVER experienced service the way I was treated today. Our server was Makenzie. She was so rude to my friend and I and had the worst attitude. She didn’t greet us when she came to our table. She took our drink order and we asked for straws and extra creamer. Never got it. When our food came she threw it down on our table and walked away. She never checked in on us after receiving our food and I had to flag her down to get our checks. I handed her my card the minute she brought it and she was clearly annoyed I did this. She came back and gave us our receipts without saying a word to us and walked away. This place has gone downhill since Sam has passed on. All of the servers are always so nice and inviting. This one, not so much. I’m surprised she works in a position she has to deal with the public. If she’s having a bad day, I understand. However, leave that at the door and do your job.

It was my first time here and I heard the food was good. I went with a couple of friends and we had to wait a bit because it was busy! Parking was hard because it was super full. I got the corned beef hash and eggs, which also comes with home fries and toast for about $7! The price of everything was incredible for the big sized portions. The corned beef hash and home fries were a bit more wet than I usual expect it to be, but still pretty good. I expected crispy fries, but they were a bit soggy. However, everything was made well and tested good. The sandwich that we ordered was huge! It was stacked with meat and very much worth the price. This is a great place for a comfort meal, casual date, good breakfast, or a meal with the family. It gives off a very home comfort vibe. Staff was very nice and accommodating!

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed P.H.C. Long time patron of this westside staple. Surly it has changed over the years from a small dive to a rather large restaurant. Specializing in Cincinnati style chili and breakfast foods makes this place the gem that it is. The other menu choices are equally good as well. My only complaint would be that they bread their wings. Who does that? Anyway I passed on those and had the Sams Salad at my last visit. Full bar and drinks in the lounge area makes it a great spot to watch the competing teams on tv. I recommend you try Price Hill Chili if you have not. Good service , good bar food and decent prices won't leave you disappointed.

The restaurant had a wait for lunch on Sunday which makes me think this is a popular place! The restaurant also has the bar attached to it to allow for a lot of seating room. The food was very filling, but we were disappointed in the appetizer, Spicy Spuds, as we were expecting potato skins with the description it listed but it came out as fried cone balls where we couldn't taste any potato. Lots of choices for food based on their menu.

I hosted 9 friends at Price Hill Chili last night, and discovered that the dining in experience here was even more enjoyable than getting their take-out. The hostess walked us through their many dining rooms, to arrive at Golden Fleece Lounge, their attached bar, where I assume they could best accommodate our larger group. Unfortunately, they couldn't seat us at one table, putting 6 of us at one table and 4 at another, and it had the noisiness of a bar setting, making conversation within our group difficult. However, the hospitality was amazing -- very proactive, friendly and engaging. Our group arrived 1 or 2 people at a time, and the waitresses were right on the spot with each arrival, immediately taking each person's drink order as they were settling in. We ordered an assortment of appetizers, which definitely seem to be one of Price Hill Chili's fortes. Each were ample, delicious and the epitome of comfort food, though the real "hits" among the group were Sam's Spicy Spudz, a type of jalapeno popper, and the fried pickle chips -- the taste of the pickle comes right through the hot crunchiness of the coating. The entrees were equally amazing, with kudos in particular to the goetta and cheese omelette, the clam chowder, the spinach salad with salmon, the Little Hippo ham-and-cheese double-decker -- and, actually, pretty much all of their double-decker sandwiches. These are plentiful -- and affordable -- helpings of hearty comfort food. And -- an added attraction -- on Friday nights they have live music, so we enjoyed acoustic versions of 60's rock classics from The Two Steves. All told, a fun night out in a family-friendly casual venue! With the exception of the noise level, well done, Price Hill Chili, well done.

Had dinner here on a Friday nite with some friends. We shared some appetizers (spinach artichoke dip, fried pickle slices, "spudz" which are potato/jalopeno poppers, Greek bread with marinara) All were really good. For my main meal, I had a bowl of clam chowder. a 4-way onion and a cod sandwich on tye. The 4 way was forgettable--odd for a chili parlor, but the cod sandwich was large and crispy and I really enjoyed it. We had some good conversation until the live music started just after 7, then conversation was almost impossible thereafter since we were in the same room as the band. But the music was mostly 60s and 70s favorites and that seemed to make up for it. Service was friendly and attentive. They have a pretty large menu with something for everyone. I would recommend the double deckers and appetizers. Prices are very reasonable here. This place is a big hit with the locals. And there are 4 different rooms, so it is bigger than it looks from the outside. Plus a bar, so to call it a chili parlor is almost an understatement. One of Price Hill's gems.

Service was excellent considering we were a party of 7 adults and 13 teenagers! The ambiance was nice & comfortable. The food came out in a reasonably quick time. Everyone enjoyed the meal and there wasn't a complaint. Whatever they had playing on the t.v. was odd but at least the volume wasn't on. It was weird documentary about the Stanley cup. Anyway we enjoyed ourselves!

We were visiting this area on Sunday morning and someone suggested Price Hill Chili. I wasn't aware of their menu or even the idea that they offered breakfast items. I decided on an order of buttermilk pancakes , no meat. They were a decent size and the flavor was very good. Not overly sweet, which was good. I started to order lunch items but I was hungry and I wanted breakfast food. Even for carry out, it was good. I can't vouch for the ambiance or service but my son in law didn't gripe about it. We went for lunch and sat in the bar area which was pretty quiet at that time of day. Our server was great. I had a 3way and a cheese coney my wife had a Greek salad. I was in the mood for Skyline and thought this would do the job. But I found it to be pretty bland. My wife thought her salad was great.

I was in town for a wedding and my dad said we HAD to come here before leaving town, as he used to be a Cincinnati native and grew up here. I don't like chili so the name was a bit off putting, but if you feel similar, don't fear! The menu selection is huge. We personally came here for breakfast, so I got French toast. The rest of the table got pancakes and an omelet, with goetta of course. First of all, the portions are HUGE. I was shocked! The food is also delicious. The pancakes were fluffy, the flavor on the French toast was exquisite, and the omelet was cooked perfectly. This place was spectacular, and a lot bigger than I expected it to be! I enjoyed it.

Price Hill Chili is a great neighborhood chili spot. Over the past ten years I have visited on countless occasions. On my most recent visit, I went with a friend for lunch. I ordered a BLT sandwich and well done Greek fries. The sandwich had a nice amount of all of the toppings, so this is a sandwich I would order again. It had been so long since I had eaten their fries and they tasted heavenly! Ordering them well done resulted in crispy perfection. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. We visited on a weekday close to the holidays, so we had to briefly wait for our table.

The food is served up quick and with a smile at this local chili parlor. While they're known for their chili, and beyond comparable breakfast, it's their wide variety of lunch and dinner options that is sure to please any palate. They have 6 rooms and a bar to serve parties large or small but the food is not small on flavor. Every dish (many made with a little bit of flair from their Greek heritage) is made fresh and to-order and I can't say I'd have anything I would not order again. As a Cincinnati west-sider, I've been here more times than I can count and would encourage anyone coming across this review to do the same and visit this small business. You can even purchase their famous Greek dressing to take home if you desire. Just give this place a shot and you will leave with a happy stomach and likely a rekindled friendship with some you know from new or old.

We arrived on a Wednesday right around 9 am. They open at 8 am and we figured we were there plenty early to not have to worry about finding a seat. Boy, were we wrong! The place was hopping! We found a table in the back of the room next to the bar. There seemed to be one person waiting on all the tables and we were concerned we wouldn't be noticed. It did take a while, but we completely understood why. We ordered coffee and by this time someone else had arrived to help out. The coffee came pretty quickly. Next we ordered and waited a little while longer. I didn't time it and I think that means that while it did take some time, it wasn't an extraordinarily long wait. I ordered corned beef hash with eggs over easy and fried potatoes, crispy. I also ordered a side of goetta. I'd seen pictures of the hash on Yelp, so I knew what to expect. It was a little more nondescript than I was hoping, but it was okay. I'll skip the corned beef hash next breakfast and just stick with the goetta, which was beautiful! It was a huge piece of goetta and it was cooked perfectly - good and crunchy. The potatoes, as requested, were also nice and crispy. Overall, breakfast was delicious and we'll definitely come back.

Soooo I am from the East Coast, where diners are a dime a dozen - but also, we have some of the best diners in the world. I have very high standards for a greasy, diner-style breakfast that is meant to soothe your hangover woes. Price Hill Chili scratched the itch, but honestly can't hold a candle to what we have over here on the east coast - so perhaps I have a bias. This place was up the block from our Air BnB, and we opted to call for takeout. The gentleman on the phone was pleasant enough and was able to accommodate our needs. As anyone from NJ would know, the classic BEC, SEC, and THEC (or PEC) are a clear cure for a hangover - it appears not so in the Midwest. Sure, there were omelettes and eggs your way, but the only breakfast sandwich available was The Mailman, which was your choice of egg, breakfast meat, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on an English muffin, rye, or wheat bread. No kaiser rolls or bagels to be found! Honestly, though, I can forgive that, and I don't want this review to be too much of a competition between East Coast and Midwestern breakfasts. (That's not the reason why I gave this restaurant only three stars.) I opted for a bacon, egg, and cheese Mailman on an English Muffin - hold the lettuce, tomato, and mayo, please. We also got another Mailman on rye, plus an order of French Toast, biscuits, and two sides of homefries. The food was ready quick enough, and we opened the bag to indulge. My Mailman sandwich was actually quite decent - it was loaded with perfectly crispy bacon, and did its job well. The other Mailman sandwich, from what I understand, was mighty fine too. The other items, however, left a lot to be desired. The French Toast was served dry - no powdered sugar, syrup, or butter at all, just battered and fried toast. It was the same issue with the biscuits - they were tasty, but dry - no butter, jam, or anything to put on the biscuits. Perhaps this was a mistake on Price Hill's part, or perhaps this is the way it is - but being that we were in an Air BnB, we had no condiments to help the situation, and we were hoping that the diner would provide breakfast necessities like butter and syrup with our order because that is how it's done in NJ. I think, though, the worst sin of all was the homefries - they were honestly the worst homefries I've ever tasted, and it's what truly knocked down my rating from four stars to three. They appeared to be sliced boiled potatoes - no salt or pepper, no crispy edges, no peppers or onions (again, maybe that's an East Coast thing, but still). They were just two Styrofoam boxes of steamed sliced potatoes. And again, being that we were in an Air BnB, we could not crisp them up in a pan because we did not have the materials to do so. We shouldn't have to do that anyway - homefries should, at the very least, be crispy and salted. I know this place is an area staple, and I would venture to give this another try - from the reviews, their chili seems to be excellent. Also, my friend's fiancé is a West Side native and absolutely loves this place. I would try this again the next time I am in the area, but as of right now, this was my breakfast experience as an East Coast Italian.

This visit was recently part of a Cincinnati Chili mission I was on to try all of the best in the city. These guys are up toward the top of the list. Their building is HUGE. They have multiple dining areas and a really big bar. I sat at the bar and got great service. The menu is also huge with lots of other great offerings, but I was here for the chili. I ordered two chili cheese sandwiches and a coke. The chili was nice and flavorful and not too runny. The mustard and onions gave it a nice kick. I loved that they had their own hot sauce. I feel like after I finished visiting all of the parlors around the city, if they had coke instead of Pepsi and had their own hot sauce, they were top notch above the others. Just my observation. I dont get to this area often but I am definitely coming back to try some of their other food offerings. It all looked so good and the place was very comfortable.

Chili it's something that is very common even more so in Cincinnati as they do their own way of it here and oh how yummy it is! The chili that can be found in this city is unique as it seems like most of it is made from a base of cinnamon and chocolate so it gives this distinct flavor that you really can't find anywhere else in the county which is awesome because it's a cool unique thing to find in the area when your here. Coming here I already knew it was all about the chili so that's what I ordered I got the one that had beans in it so it added a bit more zest to something that was already unique and flavorful in it's own way I mean with a pile of cheese on top of it how can you go wrong! For a starter we ordered some fried pickles they were super yummy just the way they should be and came with a sauce that had a good zest to it with just a dunk of the pickle into it. This really felt like it was a locals place as there were a bunch of cops eating next to us and it just seemed like everyone here knew each other which was cool as it's always the places like this that an outsider wants to find. Overall yummy Chili and delicious fried pickles who knows if I'll make it back here again but it's definitely not out of the question as it had what was totally good for this given chili of a cold day!

My son said this was the BEST Cincinnati chili. We were surprised how big it was, and then at the debth of the menu. Everything looked good. I was amused neither of us got Chili in any form since that's what we came for. I had a roast beef sandwich with coleslaw on it. It so reminded me of a New Orleans poboy...just as messy! And delicious. My son had a bowl with tater tots, gotta, gravy, eggs. It was huge, and he polished it off in little time. Service was great, prices reasonable. Too bad it's not in my hood. I could be a regular. I would even get around to that chili!

Janet was very friendly. This family owned restaurant was my first stop for breakfast as a new resident. Service was good, but I wasn't impressed with the taste of the food.

PHC is a West-side institution. Great goetta and friendly, older servers. You'll see three generations of a family walking in as well as groups of older guys talking about "the good old days."

Rueben is excellent along with beef barley soup and chicken noodle soup. Service is excellent

Walked in to some greeter that hated life and her job. Got the eye roll, huffed and puffed, and could speak more than 2 word at a time. "How many?" 7 Eye roll, "Hahhh, name?" Bill Huff puff, "It will be 30 mins." We stood over in the corner and watched her treat everyone else that walked in the same way for about 10 minutes. Then we left. We drove to another place just down the road and had great service. Never ever again.

Great for breakfast or chili! Always great service, hometown diner feel is my favorite.

Chili has good flavor, so does the sandwich. Hot sauce is big plus for me since I'm a giant spicy food fan.

My go-to spot for goetta and eggs. That with some potatoes and onions, toast and black coffee. Chef's Kiss. Especially for the nights I don't wanna cook.

I like , Empress chili and Skyline better, too spicy, made me suck last time, burgers are fair at best

They have great American fare food with a large selection of options. It's quite a large location so go as a group or communicate your location.

West side staple. Family owned establishment with a wide variety of food, from big greasy spoon style plates of breakfast classics, to enormous double deckers... Cincinnati style chili, hot sandwiches, and don't forget an order of Greek fries! Favorites are the turkey and roast beef double decker, Big Sam, Chili Cheese omelette, or the Stinger. Of course, as mentioned, don't forget the Greek fries.

Great food &service. Hasn't changed much which in this instance is great . Nice fire on the patio

Divey place with a solid menu. It was too early for chili the day I was there so I opted for a breakfast selection - I got the omelet with spinach, feta and mushrooms, home fries, rye toast, side of goetta. The omelet was fine, the egg was so thin as to be a crepe which I thought was great, but the ingredients inside were not warm, the feta was still as cold as the refrigerator. My favorite was the goetta (pronounced getta for all you non Cincinnati folk). Its a type of sausage specific to this area made of meat, oats and spices. Will definitely order this again. Need to come back to try the chili though!

I visited this restaurant for a meeting dinner. There was a lot of staff and made people feel welcomed. I ordered chicken gyro, no tomatoes and Greek fries with Dr pepper. Did not take long for us to get our drinks although we had a large group. The staff did well refilling until the meal came. My gyro came just with onions, no lettuce, and the pita bread was hard. The fries were cold so I requested they provide fresh, hot fries. The meal was just okay as a result of the sandwich not prepared as I requested and waiting on the fresh fries. Didn't want to send sandwich back too just because of the fear of people messing up order more. Got my receipt but the waitress grabbed cash and cards faster than I was able to get mine out. I did finally get it out and processed. I may return to try other menu items. Not sure if it was the large group but I would give another try.

This place is/was the first stop after arriving at the CVG airport. We were told by family friends that this is much better than Skyline, so no doubt they drove us here to try it. From someone who has never been to Cincinnati, I must say that this whole chili creation is an amazing thing to take pride in, because I sure did enjoy my meal, especially here! Our server was SO nice and accommodating for us. She wiped down the largish round table for us, and her attitude was extremely positive during our entire dining experience. In fact, when she found out my friend & I were visiting from out of town (and were first timers), she gave us a small complimentary Greek desert at the end. So tasty! At the beginning, she gave us some popcorn to share around the table, and then someone ordered some spinach dip (it was just ok; chips were a little too salty in my opinion... and spinach dip was decent, not amazing). But, my friend & I split an order of the 5-way chili (great choice) as well as a Hipo sandwich which were both the perfect choices to start off our hunt for bomb food on our trip. I'm so happy we were brought here; and I imagine that I'd come back if I find myself in the Cincinnati area in the future!

Back again on Friday night. My husband and I love coming here. Everyone is friendly and we always have a good time in the Golden fleece lounge. Anna the bartender is so great at what she does, she remembers our drinks and is very attentive. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was truly delicious .Tonight my husband tried the ribeye sandwich with sauteed mushrooms and onions on a hoagie roll. He said that the steak was delicious and very tender and he is going to add that to his new list of favorites. This restaurant has been hosting live music on Friday nights in their outside enclosed seating area which is a great touch. I am posting a picture with the updated hours as the hours of service on Yelp are not correct. Sorry for the reflection but it was the best I could do.

So I came here st the request of a huddy. Its a little dank. Could use a new carpet and a fresh coat of paint but ibget the impression the locals come if the lights are working or not. I tried the club sandwich. Yes, i get that the word chili is in the name of the building but I said it once and I'll say it again, that is not chili. Spahetti is not in chilli. But the sandwich was good so there's that.

I honestly cannot believe I have never left a review for Price Hill Chili. This is a staple in my life as a west sider, quite honestly. My husband and I go here so often for breakfast and it's one of our favorite places to go even still. First of all, I have always loved the maze of this place. It's always fun to wonder what room you'll end up being seated in. None of which are bad. Fun fact, they have sports memorabilia and articles on the walls. One day I looked up and saw an article about the reds and the columnist had the same last name as my friend. I jokingly texted him a photo and asked if he knew the guy and his response was, "Yeah, that's my dad!" Price Hill Chili, bringing friendships together! The food isn't gourmet, but it's the delicious comfort food you crave in a place that feels like home. We love the Mailman sandwich and get that quite often. The Hangover Bowl is amazing, but you have to come very hungry for that. If I'm being honest most of what I've had here has been breakfast food, but the chili is good too! And I always love ordering a Bloody Mary or a mimosa with my breakfast. Service is also always friendly and familiar, even if you're being served by your waitress for the very first time, it just feels like you're a regular and they've waited on you a hundred times. Another thing I love about Price Hill Chili, which may not still be true because of e current pandemic, but they at least used to open at 6am and I would meet my husband there for breakfast sometimes. There was something really homey and soothing about being there at 6am drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying breakfast. I can't explain how wonderful this place is to me. I hope that, if you have never been, you'll give Price Hill Chili a visit.

Not sure why I've never posted a review for PHC but I frequent here on the regular. Breakfast lunch or dinner, I'm always in. I'd go every day if I had the time - its certainly affordable enough and they have the best variety. It is the staple west side family restaurant and anyone in town can vouch for it. The waitresses know all the regulars (me) and rarely do I have slow service (though it does happen, as it would to any busy restaurant). Top recommendations: Breakfast: Goetta Feta Omelet with homefries extra crispy Lunch: Egg Salad Sandwich with tomato and no mayo on wheat. Side of greek or regular fries Dinner: The Stinger with Pepperjack Cheese and no mayo. I would not steer you wrong !

This restaurant has raised their prices to unbelievable amounts. I ordered a turkey club, cheese fries and a Mountain Dew. My bill was $19.98!!! I was shocked. The restaurant is NOT fancy at all. I will NOT eat their again. They have lost a lot of customers due to this issue.

Not my favorite place for chili, but they were alright for the price. If you like your chili with more cinnamon then this will definitely e your go to place though Everything was fresh, and hot still by the time I got home. They have a pretty large menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff was super nice too!

Great place. Been there many times to dine in and carry out, too. Highly recommend anything on the menu but the Big Sam is my favorite.

In the 80's, my husband and I were food poisoned at this restaurant along with 27 other people and ended up with a class action lawsuit. We thought after 20 yrs. We would eat here again considering there are on a handful of sit down restaurants anymore. I'm so disgusted in the service I received. The 2 times I've eaten here again, the waitress ignores us after 2 refills. I think they're trained to hold back on refills, and stop checking on you. We spend about $45.00 when We eat there WE DESERVE good service! Another thing are the restrooms. Disgusting! Toilets never work and the floor tile is really awfully dirty. Today my shoes were sticking to the floor as I walked. You would think after that lawsuit the manager would have the place in tip top order. So disgusted

Food not like it usually is. Always get the big sam burger and greek fries... 45 min wait for dry, cold food !!... not a happy camper after this visit and been craving since last December !!!... 1st visit since COVID hit :(

Incredible menu, service and staff. You won't leave hungry. Don't let the name fool you - menu is so much more than Chili. Cassidy was our waitress, hands down the best ever - could easily work at a high end restaurant but probably does just as well here. We live in Covington, so we order delivery from PHC through Uber Eats. Our two favorites are the Mahi Mahi sandwich and the Salmon sandwich. They are outstanding and always arrive well packed and still warm. Their fries and coleslaw are also great. This is one of the few "go to" restaurants of ours where we can always count on consistantly great food at a reasonable price.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE My family has been going here for over 40yrs Called to inform them that they burnt a sandwich black in a carryout order, and shocked that they let it out of their kitchen that blacked burnt. So it wouldn't happen again. I could care less about a credit. and as someone in the industry myself as a senior manager, I was appalled by Alexia attitude and unprofessionalism as she displaced blame on me, the guest and customer, and implying I was wrong. Then Alexia becoming argumentative stating if we really came as regulars why is there a problem now. I asked to speak to Steve and she refused stating she would not let me speak to someone above her. And good luck getting through to anyone. For a family business I'm shocked he would allow his daughter to behave as such.
