This place has really good sushi. We ordered the Spider rolls, Twister rolls, and rock chalk rolls. They were all delicious especially the Twister rolls. The twister rolls had peppered tuna and peppered salmon, and I could not get enough. Also the $3 sake bombs during happy hour are a great deal.

Google
Very nice unpretentious sushi place and bar. Highly recommend the Long Island iced tea if Kayla is working. Best LIT I've ever had anywhere in the country. Sushi was good. Presentation on the apps was top notch. Waiters and staff were super friendly. Will come again if I'm ever back in the area.

Google
My daughter granddaughter, and I decided to go out for dinner. When I asked what we should have all 3 of us yelled Sushi! We decided to try Pime Sushi on Main and it did not disappoint! We had everything from soup, salads, 6 different rolls and even dessert! Oh, and don't forget the hot sake! It was amazing, and we will definitely be going back!

Google
Great lunch deal on sushi! Otherwise, it's a bit pricey for medium quality food. 2nd try: Get the lunch bento box. The vegetable tempura is amazing! I think it might be the best I've ever tried! The California Roll was good, and the Hotline Bling Roll was everything you could want in a modern non-raw sushi roll. The miso was a little weak, the salad was good, and the sashimi and nigiri were acceptable. Our server was so sweet and brought my wife a mango mochi when she was not feeling well.

Google
One of my favorite sushi places.. i get the same thing over and over. Crab cakes and Stonehedge sushi.. They never disappoint.. I'm always satisfied. Dine in or carry out

Google
Great food and great service! The sushi was excellent. The tuna rolls were delightful, the smoked salmon was perfect. Even the basic rolls were tasty. Our server Josey did an amazing job!

Google
Emiliee was fantastic and they have a dedicated gluten free menu. Great happy hour specials!

Google
Even though it took about 8 mins for someone to greet us, our server was very pleasant, and attentive. The appetizers were fresh, the sushi was some of the best I've had and the lunch price was great! I would recommend they get a ring sound on the door so they know there are customers waiting. Overall it was a decent experience!

Yelp
I wanted some sushi for my birthday luncheon and discovered that Prime Sushi had a great happy hour menu from 2:30pm - 5:00pm, so I spent a bit of time enjoying the Plaza Library up the street until 2:30pm approached and off I went. After being seated at a hightop in the bar area, by a very lethargic host, I waited for over 10 minutes for a waiter to appear. Fortunately I already had a menu, so I was prepared to order and not risk another possible wait. I ordered 3 rolls: Philadelphia, Shrimp Tempura and the Spicy Shrimp Crunch. Priced between $5 and $9 each, they were a fantastic bargain with each roll being 8 pieces. My long pre-meal wait was not as bad as my post-meal wait for a check. For 15 minutes I sat with a dirty plate, empty water glass and credit card in hand trying to make eye contact with any staff member to facilitate an exit. Nothing worse than terrible customer service putting a negative experience on a great meal. Would I return? Only for the Happy Hour pricing and I would sit at the bar, so I have my servers quick attention. Food and value - 5 stars Service - 2 stars Rounding my 3.5 up to 4 solely for the great value.

Yelp
Sushi was solid overall. It was also my friend's birthday so our server was able to give her a complimentary birthday dessert.

Yelp
Good sushi, great drink, attentive staff. Price wasn't ideal- little on the expensive side but it's close to the plaza. Love the outdoor seating! Not much traffic around which was nice
google avatar

Vianca P.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this sushi spot. They have indoor and outdoor seating and they had steady business throughout my time there. I sat at the bar and started off with miso soup and the fried calamari. Miso soup came out piping hot and well seasoned. It was great. The calamari was cooked perfectly, not Chewy at all, but absolutely no seasoning so it was very bland. The sauces it came with were good and helped add some flavor to the dish when dipped, but calamari lacked flavor. I couldn't decide between the Salmon Crunch roll and the Stonehenge, but the bartender suggested the latter and I was not disappointed. It was really good and the cream cheese always brings out a good flavor. Just away from the Country Club Plaza so you can get good street parking. Enjoy!

Yelp
One of the best sushi spots in KC area hands DOWN We ordered in house and door dash hasn't failed us yet If eatin in I highly suggest making a reservation!

Yelp
I had never heard of this sushi spot but we decided to stop by and we are SO happy we did! The service was fast and there weren't many people so the ambiance was very calm. We got several rolls, all of which were delicious. The shrimp crunch roll is one of my new favorites now. Would highly recommend if you're near the Plaza area. We were happily surprised by this restaurant!

Yelp
Amazing prob the best I've had! Crab Rangoon off the charts. Can't go wrong with anything I've tried sushi roll wise

Yelp
For a start, I have recommended this place to various people and have been referred to this place myself. HOWEVER, my mother had placed an order on DoorDash for 1 Vegetable Egg Roll ($9.20), 1 Philadelphia Roll ($10.35) and 1 Spicy Girl Roll ($13.80). And additional tax ($3.99) totaling to $37.34 overall. Only FIVE, yes FIVE, small vegetable rolls barely over two inches long and as round as a nickel at best. EIGHT pieces of the Philadelphia Roll AND EIGHT Spicy Girl Rolls... crammed TOGETHER? Two SMALL containers for $37.34? Prime Sushi Bar's website did NOT include the set amount of either rolls + only showed SOME photos & ONLY the Vegetable Egg Rolls displayed an amount which was 5 (but of course no picture for them there for size). Like this is so disappointing. I used to love this place and now I feel differently. Please, do better. P.S. the flavors in the cream cheese, that smoked taste, that is absolutely not it for both the Philadelphia Roll and Spicy Girl Roll. It's too overbearing and takes away from the raw fish and other addons. It just makes it a "cream roll" at that point. Please, consider a more natural/regular cream cheese flavor.

Yelp
I did take out ; it was ok ... not great but ok. The rice is just not the best for excellent sushi . The fish was fresh & the rolls were good .

Yelp
I loved this place! We went around 5 pm and were seated immediately. The host and waitress were amiable, and the food was excellent. We ordered a few different rolls. Our favorite was the Chiefs Roll. I would not recommend the "on fire" rolls. They were terrible. Tasted burnt and Smokey.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been at a good sushi place. Service was great for the most part. There was just once where we were rushed out since they sat us in a section that was needed for a reservation. It would make sense to just seat us in a different area if they needed that section but oh well. The sushi is pretty good from what else I have tried in the KCMO/KCK area. My wife tried out the ramen and she seemed to like it quite a bit. I have allergies to shellfish so I greatly appreciate that they served our sushi order on the same plate as far as what I ordered came on the same plate and what my wife ordered was on her own plate. As far as drinks go, I would hope to see a bigger or more diverse selection. Sake is nice and all but how about some Japanese whiskey drinks on the menu?

Yelp
4.5 in my opinion! Prime sushi is now a household favorite of mine for sushi. Located a little past Country Club Plaza, the location is in a quaint little neighborhood, lots of things to walk to, and outdoor seating. We started with the shrimp tempura-one of my favorites, and Prime's was top of the par! It was so good I forgot to get a picture! Love anything tempura and Prime has a good tempura batter. We then each ordered two speciality rolls. The scallop roll was my favorite one. Everything we had we really good and fairly priced for sushi. Will 100% go back! And bring friends!
google avatar

Yelp
This place has the best customer service and an amazing sushi selection! Not only did they allow a 20+ person reservation they were extremely prompt with our orders and drinks and were always available to help!

Yelp
Yum!! This popular south Plaza sushi spot is lively, cool and most importantly delicious. The sushi is fresh and creative. Classic and prime (specialty) rolls as well as sashimi and nigiri, bento boxes, soups, salads, fried rice, fried noodles, bibimbap, and more. Full bar - cocktails, sake, beer and wine as well as soda. And if you have room - dessert. Which I was too full to try because the sushi portions are generous. Great for dates and friends gathering.

Yelp
Food was really good, nice sized rolls. Well served glass of wine. Ambiance was good, a little crowded but still good. Service wasn't amazing. We waited longer than usual to get a drink order. So as soon as they came, we placed drink and food order in case they'd take a while to come back.
google avatar

Yumi S.

Yelp
This post is about service as the food is normally good. We are frequent customers, but the last three times we have been there we sat at the bar instead of at a table. Big mistake we should have learned the first two times he served us he was just rude, this time he didn't acknowledge us for 5 minutes so we left

Brian K.

Yelp
Really great happy hour. Great sushi and an amazing price. We have gone multiple times and would highly recommend.

Yelp
Tried another salad from them tonight and it was also excellent! Delivery was perfect and I loved the spicy tuna preparation!
google avatar

Yelp
Prime sushi is a great neighborhoood spot, I always love the service here! Good sushi selections and yummy appetizers. I would definitely try to come here for lunch instead of dinner because it's basically half the price of dinner menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Prime sushi has a great HH, attentive service, and great prices. Chefs Choice was excellent. Sashimi was generously cut and had great flavor and Nigiri melted in your mouth. Server happily accommodated my request to use Diet Coke and not regular. Shrimp Tempura was delish.

Yelp
If I could rate this restaurant 4.5 stars I definitely would. One of the best sushi restaurants in KC. Great service and an even better happy hour. Their Spicy Mayo is definitely odd in color but it is so tasty. Started off with the calamari and shrimp tempura (not pictured) and it was very very good. Nothing out of this world but we finished every bite. The roll of the night was definitely the Einstein Roll. It had the right balance of flavor and texture. It's definitely one of a kind and I will be combing back specifically for this roll. The spicy crab was really tasty too. I tried my friend's Chiefs Roll and this was good but did not top the Einstein. When I come back, I will definitely be trying the Hotline Bling. This place is a must try if you're within the area or even within the KC metro. Probably my second favorite sushi place in all of KC. :) Left very happy.
google avatar

Yelp
The sushi rolls here were delicious. Great service and a great happy hour. The restaurant seating is somewhat limited and at night, a pretty intimate/low-light dining experience. My favorite roll was the double Philadelphia- a basic Philly roll w/ pieces of smoked salmon on top. Our waiter was nice and helpful. We will definitely be coming back!

Victoria V.

Yelp
One of my favorite spicy ramen bowls in the city! BUT- unfortunately the worst crab rangoons I've ever had. If large; empty fried breading is your thing, you'll love them.
google avatar

Olivia S.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here on a Sunday because my go-to sushi places were closed and I was desperate for some vegetable tempura. The take out order was ready in 30 mins, which was pretty speedy for a sushi place! The vegetable tempura traveled shockingly well, and it was super tasty. I also enjoyed my tempura shrimp roll. My vegetarian sister wasn't too impressed with the vegetable roll because it had a lot of competing pickle flavors and textures. I would definitely try here again! I'm not super familiar with South Plaza parking, but I was able to swinging a street parking spot around the corner to grab my pick up order, but the streets are usually a little parked up on the weekends.

Yelp
Never disappoints!!!!! Went for happy hour. Finally tried the happy hour cosmo and it was delicious!!! Great prices for sushi happy hour. Got an appetizer, multiple drinks, and 4 rolls for under $60. Prime is by far my go to!!!
google avatar

Sherelle L.

Yelp
Happy Hour is where it is at! If you go outside or happy hour... I just don't understand lol. Save your money chile! We got 6 total rolls and they were HUGE! The three of us could have shared 4 instead. Out of all the sushi places I have been to, this one has the best value without sacrificing the taste. My favorite out of the rolls were Stonehenge , Hotline Bling, and Black tiger!

Yelp
I was looking at the menu on Yelp and saw I could order carry out directly through the app via grub hub. I placed an order to pick up after running a few errands. I ordered the garlic butter endamame, chicken gyoza and vegetable yakisoba add chicken. My order was ready in about 30 minutes. When I pulled up I saw that there were about 6 people waiting for their orders right at the door. Therefore I couldn't get a good look at how the restaurant is set up. My order thankfully was ready and I was able to leave right back out. The chicken gyoza was just ok. It seemed to be missing something. The garlic endamame was delicious. It has tons of fresh garlic and a sauce that added an additional depth to the flavor. The yakisoba had very thin noodles. I was expecting thicker noodles but the flavors were great. There were a ton of veggies and very filling.

Yelp
Was sad I made the 30 minute drive, rice was not up to sushi standards, my husband has never in his life left food on his plate but he ordered some snow heaven or something roll they brought it on a plate of some kind of flammable liquid lit it on fire and left I refused to taste it he took one bite and said it tasted like Lighter fluid, got wrong drink, just kind of a hot mess $150 situation
google avatar

Phon W.

Yelp
Went for lunch and everything was great! Had the garlicky edamame and the Chiefs roll! Everything tasted good and fresh.

Elliott S.

Yelp
Very overpriced and mediocre food. Crab Rangoon's are hollow and orange chicken is dry. Found a hair in my to go order also.

Yelp
A great new sushi place near the plaza. Super cool decor, outstanding bar, service was awesome as was the sushi. Really delicious and creative roll idea!
google avatar

Yelp
Great sushi options. Even if you don't like sushi there are great dishes. I love the edamame

Yelp
Just went to Prime for the first time, and I will say, I appreciate a sushi place that does happy hour! Their drink and food specials were great, and the service was also fantastic! My friend and I got there at 4:30 pm, which I didn't know is firmly in the happy hour time (since they open at that time!)--right away, the host gave us the menus and the low-down about happy hour occurring (with the special menu). Since it was my first time, I had to get a smattering of things, right? So we ordered the edamame (good but would have appreciated a bit more salt or like a bit of soy sauce to make them a little more seasoned on the outside) and the shrimp shumai (good little shrimp bites). For a drink, I got the sake sangria--which was good, but they only give you about half a wine glass full--not sure if that is the happy hour portion or if that is normal, but I was definitely going to need more of a beverage than that! For food, my friend went with the teriyaki chicken bento box--and WOW does that come with a million things (forgive me for not taking a picture): it came with tempura vegetables, white rice, 4-piece California roll, teriyaki chicken--needless to say that she did NOT finish it but it looked delightful. I stuck with the happy hour menu and I got the Spicy Girl Roll and the Mango Cha Cha rolls--it was yesterday and I must have been in a sushi coma because I cannot remember what was in the Spicy Girl Roll, but it was quite good (and had some like crunchy noodle stuff on top). The Mango Cha Cha had spicy crab, cucumber, avocado, shrimp tempera, topped with spicy tuna, mango, crunch flakes, eel sauce, and spicy mayo. Both were great choices, and I won't lie that I finished all those rolls because I was hungry and they were great. Overall, the service was super friendly and fast. Our server, Taylor, was super friendly and gave good suggestions for us, since I shared it was my first time there. She was great at checking in, and due to my interest in spicy food, she was always there to help me when my water needed refilling--much appreciated, Taylor! Can't wait to go back and try more selections!

Yelp
Called to make a reservation for Valentine's Day. Made the reservation and then 2 days later they canceled my reservation to fit other people in instead. Shitty business
google avatar

Yelp
I've eaten a lot of Sushi but this has to be the best sushi I've ever had! The atmosphere is awesome, very good wine and top shelf liquor! This will be my go to Sushi spot!!!
google avatar

Becca B.

Yelp
Prime Sushi Bar is a top spot to get delicious sushi in Kansas City for a reason. The happy hour prices are unbeatable! $5 for several of the appetizers, $5 for several of the more basic/classic rolls, and $10 for loaded rolls! The sake bomb was only $3.50 as well. I had ordered the Crunchy Salmon Roll and the Shrimp Tempura roll. I also ordered the chicken gyoza to start. I highly recommended going to Prime Sushi if you are craving fresh and tasty sushi!
google avatar

Netanya B.

Yelp
Sushi was tasty. Happy hour is a must for sushi and Japanese food lovers! They have great drink and food deals! The service however was a bit slow; it was very busy for a Wednesday afternoon and it took a while to get our checks.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
This was our go to sushi place in KC (moved from coastal towns where good sushi is aplenty). We just had a pretty ugh experience tonight and now feel like we can't go back. We ordered three rolls with shrimp tempura in them and all three tasted like they were made hours ago and sat in a fridge (think grocery store sushi). We've had all three numerous times before and never have they been this cold and meh. We said something and the manager was pretty gaslighty. He told us they batch cook tempura items for sushi and then cool them down before assembling. Okay, that may be true but we've never had these ice cold. This was more than cooled down tempura. In fact, I also had a sweet potato roll that was warm. We were left feeling like we were being lied to. The bill was $100 and the risk of having meh sushi again at that price is not worth it. Such a bummer.
google avatar

Ed S.

Yelp
Amazing appetizers! Don't sleep on the garlic butter edamame! So good! Then the sushi.....amazing! We love this place, and it has yet to disappoint
google avatar

Adam S.

Yelp
I'm far from a sushi connoisseur, but I liked everything I tried here well enough! Anyone remember that movie Sideways? They're on a wine trail, and Miles is diligently looking for every possible note and aroma, and his friend is casually chewing gum and chugging it? That's me when it comes to sushi. As long as it's fresh, most of the rolls taste pretty similar to me. We snagged a spot on the patio (I like the South Plaza more than the Country Club Plaza, so it was very nice and relaxing), had a glass of wine and ordered: - California roll - Spicy tuna - Hotline Bling: crab mix, avocado, cucumber, shrimp tempura inside, topped with spicy tuna, jalapeno, eel sauce, spicy mayo, sriracha, and crunch flakes Basically two classic, more boring but delicious rolls and one fancy one. The California roll was hitting the spot the most, and the Hotline Bling was really cool as well. It seems to my untrained sushi palate than eel sauce takes a roll from good to great. Our service was nice, the vibes were good, and overall it was enjoyable. Since our favorite sushi spot in KC is now closed we'll be hosting an open set of auditions for a new go-to spot, and Prime is an early contender.
google avatar

Kai C.

Yelp
We went during happy hour on a Sunday. They have one of the best happy hours in KC. The sushi was good. They put this pink sauce on top of some of the sushi rolls which I could of done without. Their main hits were the appetizers that were spot on! The service was so friendly here! Lots of seating with bar tops, 2 main dining areas, and patio seatings. I am definitely planning to come back to try more dishes. We ordered more than what I took pictures of, but I was too busy pigging out to capture it all.
google avatar

Lea G.

Yelp
To be honest, it was edible. The tempura was tasty but way too oily. The nigiri I had was not fresh, but it was possible to eat it. My boyfriend got the chicken bibimbop, which was mostly rice. We wouldn't eat here again. Service was good. Ambiance was on the level of the food. Sportsball on big tvs, freezing cold AC on an already cool evening. Not my thing.
google avatar

Grace Y.

Yelp
3.5 Stars --- the portion of the bibimbop was bigger than expected. It came out on a sizzling skillet bowl which was a nice touch! It was a good meal, but nothing special. The portion size definitely helps make it better.

Yelp
I'm on a quest to find the best soft shell crab in KC, so I've been finding restaurants on Yelp who offer it and putting them in my "Soft Shell Crab" collection. Today's pick was Prime Sushi! I'll preference this review by stating I didn't get the full Prime Sushi experience. I called in my order for takeout and I only got 1 roll since my priority was the soft shell crab. Walking in, I noticed that the ambiance was nice. I also like that they have outdoor seating for when it gets warmer. I was greeted by the host at the door and informed him that I had a carryout order. He pointed me to the bar and said the bartender would be right with me. The bartender had her back to me because she was on the phone, so I waited. The host noticed that I was still waiting and gave me the check to pay. That's about the extend of my experience inside the restaurant. As far as the food goes, don't get the soft shell crab. I couldn't wait to get home, so I ate it in the car. It was still warm, but it had a lot more breading that I'd like. It was also coated with panko, so it was a lot more crunch to the outside than I was hoping for. I like for my soft shell crab to be crunchy, but not because it heavily coated in panko (if that makes sense). I've seen other places make it this way as well and I'm not a fan. The legs were pretty much all batter. In addition to the soft shell crab, I ordered the baked salmon roll. One look at the picture and I knew that's what I wanted. I waited until I got home to warm it up in the oven and it was delicious!!! It was filling, but not to heavy. I see why its one of their most popular rolls and I definitely recommend it. I was disappointed about the soft shell crab, but very pleased with the roll. The roll leads me to believe that some of the other ones are also pretty good, so I'll likely be back.

Kathy N.

Yelp
Sushi rolls were very good, service excellent and prices reasonable. Huge selection of sushi and very fresh for the middle of the country!
google avatar

Andrea T.

Yelp
Food was great but the customer service was lacking. Our waiter truly did not want to be at work. The ambiance was satisfactory.
google avatar

Chi H.

Yelp
Went here for the first time recommended by a friend. It's funny how we were all cravings sushi. Hadn't had it in a while and this was someplace new to try in the city. We had a double date night and what's better than good food, good company, and good times. This place is a vibe. Parking the in the back was easy and close by. Service was okay, just forgot our gyoza sauce with our dumplings. Had the crab cakes, they were delicious. We got the strawberry fields roll and kiss on fire sushi. Both were good, plentiful and different. Would definitely come back to tried their other options.

Yelp
Several colleagues and I stopped by Prime sushi for dinner on Sunday night. We were promptly seated and offered water and drinks right away. The waitress was very attentive and quickly took our orders. I got a miso soup, seaweed salad and a Philadelphia roll. This is my staple when I go to new sushi restaurants. The seaweed salad was a bit too sweet. I knew they typically add some sugar to make it palatable, but I didn't find it to be good this time. Miso soup was really good with a few pieces of tofu in it. My Philadelphia roll left much to be desired. The salmon tasted previously frozen and definitely not fresh. The amount of wasabi was scarce, to say the least. One of my colleagues ordered nigiri, and also felt that the fish was not fresh. The group later ordered dessert, mochi ice cream, which was quite good. Overall, extra stars for service and dessert, but would not come back here for sushi.
google avatar

christopher B.

Yelp
It looks decent in the photos, but the quality of the fish was very so so. Everyone says the hotline bling but it's basically average sushi with sriracha on top.. on to the next location.
