After dinner at a nearby restaurant, we stopped here on a whim just for dessert, and ate outside since it was a nice evening. My husband ordered chocolate mousse cake, and I got tiramisu. Both were *excellent*. And both had the tiniest smidge of sauces on the plate that were so good, we asked about them, and were told it was a kiwi sauce and a raspberry sauce. So then we ordered a piece of ricotta cheesecake to share, and requested that it be *doused* in those sauces. And that was amazing too. The man working was super friendly, and actually ended up giving us the cheesecake for free!

If zero stars was an option... Firstly, the server greeted us with attitude and an unkind aura. There was no "hi, how are you?" she said "are you here to eat?" very rudely. Once sat, I ordered a sparking wine. Sparking wines are supposed to bubble from the bottom up. It was completely flat and gross tasting. We ordered their fried Mozzarella as an appetizer. We noticed a hair in between the glass table and our table cloth. Decided to ignore it as it wasn't physically on the table. There were only 2 tables in the entire restaurant. It took 20 minutes for the appetizer to come out. The appetizer didn't look appetizing but we decided to go for it anyways. After I cut into the fried mozzarella, we found 2 pieces of hair on our plate. Which belonged to neither my partner nor myself. I walked up to the server to whisper quietly "we found a hair in our food, we would like to go ahead and pay for our drinks and leave." the server was not concerned, apologetic, nothing. Then, tried charging us for the fried mozzarella. I told her I was not paying for that and she says "are you not going to eat it?" We were really excited to try this place as we were celebrating my partner's promotion. The manager even walked past me, smiled and asked if everything was okay. We still had to pay $30 for our two drinks. We will not be returning and encouraging others to avoid this place.

I'm obsessed and will definitely be back! Incredible food. Owner went above and beyond. Service was fantastic. Ambience was cozy and made me think of "home". Thank you George for your incredible restaurant and food!

It's been two weeks since I ate Primi Piatti and I still cannot forget the experience. The food - unforgettable! The ambiance - nostalgic. The service - old-fashion, traditional, reminiscent of fine dining of a lost era. The owner came and greeted us. Finding out we were celebrating a birthday, brought out a slice of heavenly limoncello cake, so light, so sublime, simply elegant. A voyage of the senses.

Google
Hands down some of the best food and service I’ve had in a while. Britt was a fantastic server and picked just the right wine to go with our dishes. The owner made sure to stop by our table to ask if we were having a good experience. The lasagna may date and was a step above what you’d expect. I had the sea bass with a (requested) lemon cream sauce. It was out of this world. Definitely recommend for date night or even just when you’re craving a good meal and good experience.

Google
Quaint and authentic. This place leaves little to be desired... The food took me straight to Italia, and the service is unparalleled. Was quiet enough for a catch up with an old friend, but would be equally perfect for date night. Glad I stopped in!

Google
I wish I could give more than 5 stars for the service and food! Wow, what an experience. George, the owner was amazing ! So friendly and funny ! Nikki our server was great and really knew the menu well ! The bread was great and fresh. We had calamari for an appetizer which was amazing perfectly breaded, and the dipping sauce was so delicious. We had lasagna, pasta puttanesca, and veal parmesan! It was all warm, delish and flavorful ! George talked with us like we were family and hung out with us. There was no one in the restaurant while we were there and we had a fabulous time with them ! I can't wait to go back ! He brought us 2 complementary wine bottles as my boyfriend does not drink alcohol so he brought over a bottle of zero alcohol wine as well! So thoughtful! The restaurant vibe is very early 2000s but to be honest it's also just mom and pop Italian and that's what we all want anyways, like hanging out in your grandmas kitchen

Went with several friends on a Tuesday night which wasn't overly busy. Ordered our beverages and 3 appetizers which seemed to take longer than expected to hit the table. Things went down hill after that. Waitress disappeared for 30-40 minutes before taking our orders. Food took close to an hour to make it to the table. Trying to sort out the checks was a nightmare. I was charged for 3 entrees, 1 too many. The one positive was my entree. The Grouper was some of the best I've ever tasted. As much as I liked it, don't think it's worth the 3 hours our group spent there.

Yelp
Home made food with wonderful flavors Cool vibe and quaint Service exceptional and mingling with owner-chef George lots of fun

Yelp
Maybe we went on a bad night but the service was so so bad. It took so long to just get the wine. They were pretty busy but it just took way too long. It was obvious they forgot about us for larger parties. The entrees were fantastic though. I had the lobster ravioli which was amazing. I would get take out from here. The bread and appetizers could use some work thought. The bread was like cardboard and the calamari needed to be a little more crunchy/cooked.

Yelp
From outside it's not a very noticeable restaurant, however when you come inside it gives you this old traditional Italian vibe. The service was great, very friendly and patient going over the menu and the specials. We opted for the mussels which were really good and if you ask for some more bread you can dip it in the remaining sauce and it's delicious. The carbonara was good, but not great to be honest; it needs some extra flavor in my opinion. The portion was generous so no complains there. I would definitely come back and try some other things in the menu

Yelp
It was my first time here and it exceeded my expectations. It is not a frou frou place like some other Italian restaurant in Avondale. But it feels like an Italian family invited me to their home for dinner that is hearty and comfort food. Service was friendly and inside decor was cozy; perfect for date night. The bread with olive oil was a simple presentation. But the bread was warm and so good. Calamari did not have too much breading which was great. The lasagna was a special and was good. A little disappointed by the Bolognese which is only served during lunch but if you ask, they're still serve it for dinner but it's not on the menu. Overall a solid place in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Ordered the eggplant with roasted bell peppers panini. Great taste but a bit dry for my liking. Asked for a little red sauce on the side. Perfect balance! The ambiance was very relaxing, dimmed lighting with soft music on in the background. Loved sitting outside- pretty tables and nice soft music. However, midday it just became too hot for me.

Yelp
Amazing service, the owner is always so pleasant and welcoming. Never been disappointed, have had dinner here 10+ times and always amazing. Nice local joint.

Yelp
We will never come back. We were so excited to try out a new spot with such a decent rating. Well we walked in and initially liked the decor, but the longer we stayed the more dust and datedness we started to notice. and we were there for an extremely long time... so long I wish we had walked out. the waitress was kind, but clearly overwhelmed and possibly the only one there on a friday night or that's how it seemed I could be wrong. The complimentary bread was cold, and unlike any other italian restaurant we have been too, the oil and vinegar was brought in a tiny ramekin enough for one or two slices... probably would have been better if we could have it at the table as our waitress was not able to come by that often. Honestly do not get the salads at all. My husband ordered the spinach salad and it really was laughable. it looked as though they took half a handful of spinach, a pinch of onion and a pinch of sliced almonds then drenched tfo it. He had to send it back. I ordered the caprese and it was just okay... nothing special but not bad. and by the way those took like 25 minutes to come out then we waited another 25 for my chicken parmigiana and his veal rosamarino. I will say my chicken parmigiana was edible, and I think he felt the same way. my parmigiana was soggy and unevenly heated, which makes me suspect it was nuked in a microwave, but is concerning for the amount of time that took. My husband's veal plate, you can look at the picture and it speaks for itself. We just ate it because we were so hungry. Overall, it just wasn't restaurant quality, and for an $80+ meal for two after tip this was absolutely a one and never again situation for us.

Yelp
It is completely my fault for not noticing. They closed at nine instead of 930 according to Google, but I called at 9 o'clock to put in a takeout order after landing from my flight. They took the order and it was ready within 15 minutes. They were so accommodating, especially for technically being closed. The inside of the restaurant was beautiful with pictures on the walls and some famous autographs. The woman who took our order was incredibly kind even after I apologized 1000 times for the mixup The gnocchi was wonderful. The sauce was perfect. My husband got the salmon and said it was great. If we were staying in the area longer, I would have definitely put it on my list to return in person and sit down

Yelp
I had a truly lovely lunch today!! Started with the fresh brewed peach tea 5/5 Next was soup of the day -- SO GOOD! 5/5 Next was ensalata capresse - SO GOOD 5/5 The bread was - just ok- but it was not really a must for me so that's ok. The establishment was clean, quiet and kind of adorable. The server was an attractive gentleman

Yelp
My sister and I traveled all the way from California for a quick business trip, and little did we know that one dinner at Primi Piatti would become the highlight of our entire stay. With limited time in Jacksonville, we wanted something special--and boy, did we find it! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family. The warmth of the staff, the intimate atmosphere, and the undeniable passion that fills this restaurant made us feel at home instantly. And then came the food... stupendously delicious. Every bite was an explosion of authentic Italian flavors, crafted with love and expertise. But what truly set Primi Piatti apart was the experience. As the restaurant closed for the night, we were invited to stay and join in an impromptu celebration--dancing, laughter, and pure joy. It felt less like a restaurant and more like a family gathering in the best way possible. The owner? A true gem. You can tell he deeply cares about his guests and has built something truly special. We're already dreaming of a return trip to Florida, and honestly, Primi Piatti is at the top of our list of reasons to come back. If you ever find yourself in Jacksonville, do yourself a favor--go. You won't be disappointed.

Julia M.

Yelp
I wish they would answer their phones but it seems they like to close at 8pm. What is the point of having hours til 9:30 if you don't take orders past 8pm?

Michael T.

Yelp
Excellent Everything! Everything is homemade and wonderful. Service very friendly yet still professional.

Yelp
SERVICE / AMBIANCE: Service was excellent. We got sat right away and our waiter was very attentive to our table and needs. FOOD: I ordered a glass of moscato to start and the waiter graciously gave me a heavy poor. Unfortunately, I think the wine had been previously opened or something as the taste of the wine was far off and very challenging to drink. My husband and I then ordered an appetizer along with the free bread called Mozzarella Bella. I didn't like the taste of this dish. It was very oily and it was mozzarella on toast that was fried together. The free bread with oil and vinegar was nothing special and I actually didn't eat it. My husband ordered the fettuccine carbonara, which was good but nothing stand out about it. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, which was tasty. Lastly, we ordered dessert and got the tiramisu. The tiramisu was flavorful and the best food item we ate at Primi Piatti.

Yelp
Love this small intimate restaurant. Service never misses, attentive but never feel rushed, great recommendations, and always very pleasant. As you're enjoying the wine and homemade bread with oil/herbs the smell of fresh garlic being sauté tickles your nose. The mussel with wine sauce appetizer is great and also adds another dip for your bread. You can choose any pasta or meat dish and it will be fantastic. They also have specials and the Chilean sea bass was over the top. Pasta dishes are not over cooked and taste heavenly You will never be disappointed by this quaint little restaurant. Truly a hidden gem on Park Street with excellent food.

Yelp
A non discript door just off the main road in the Park&King district. Frankly, I might have just walked by without a second glance. But, we didn't. We opened the door and to our surprise, a nice Italian restaurant. We were greeted by George with a smile and menu. He slipped us in, though many tables were full. We enjoyed every bite as we chatted with George throughout the evening. The lasagna was excellent as we're the bisque and caesar salad. We finished off the meal with lemoncello and an Italian espresso (a lemon twist on the side). Thank you again for a great evening. (It's small, call for reservations, but leave us a spot.)

Yelp
We had an amazing time at this establishment. We came early to catch a show after dinner, and were served by Nikki. We were greeted by a clean and beautifully classic environment. We ordered the calamari to start, and in combination with the fresh warm herbed bread it was promise of a great night. My partner ordered the lobster ravioli and I ordered the veal parmigiana. It was amazing, large portions and extremely well cooked. We caved and got limoncello cake and a cannoli for dessert, paired with cappuccinos. We will be returning for the attentive service, and the excellent meal.

Erin D.

Yelp
If you haven't dined at Primi Piatti yet, you're seriously missing out. This place defines family dining. Giorgio and his family welcome you like one of their own, and the experience only gets better when the food arrives--hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. This atmosphere is perfect for those special occasions or date night. Definitely worth it!!

Trace B.

Yelp
Really expected more based on the rave reviews. Calamari app was below average. Lobster ravioli, shrimp scampi dish, egg plant, chicken Marsala dishes. All average. If I lived in the neighborhood I would probably eat here occasionally. Because of the reviews, we drove in and met another couple. Way better options in the area.

Veronica A.

Yelp
The food was amazing I got the chicken Parmesan, the ambiance was great and George was an amazing host along our server!

Deidre T.

Yelp
Went for midweek dinner with friends. Dishes were what was expected. I had Chicken Frances. I love the lemon in this dish. The chicken was tender and the sauce was just right. Overall we had a good experience. Service was slow that night as they were having computer trouble. Would go again.

Joshua M.

Yelp
An unforgettable dining experience! My girlfriend and I were warmly welcomed by the owner, George, who made us feel right at home. His genuine hospitality added to the already incredible dining experience. Truly a wonderful guy. The food was outstanding, authentic, flavorful and delicious--this is Italian dining at its finest. Thank you, George, and the entire Primi Piatti team for making this such a memorable wholesome night. We'll definitely be back! 100% recommend

Richard M.

Yelp
Some of the best Northern Italian food in Jacksonville. Small romantic setting will remind you of being in Italy. Everyone in my party of four enjoyed all their entrees. Would recommen.

Yelp
It is mandatory I come to Primi Piatti every time I'm in Jax. I have yet to find a Italian restaurant that hits the way this place does. The service is always top tier and so is the food, wine and deserts. Perfect atmosphere to come alone, on a date, or in a group. Like I said this place never disappoints. The owner is such a nice person, and loves his establishment and his customers. You can tell.
google avatar

Shannon R.

Yelp
Food was good. Nothing amazing but still pretty good! I don't know if it matched the price point though. Service was terribly slow! Like so slow! But our waitress was nice. Bread came out hot which was nice but they gave us butter (the fake stuff) instead of a plate with oil. So we had to ask for that. The fried Mozarella was really yummy!! Calamari not so much... I ordered the chicken francese. This is something I order a lot and i wish it came with more pasta. The portion was kind of small for $26. Overall definitely not terrible but not that amazing either.
google avatar

Tyrone T.

Yelp
Aside from the food, which was delicious, I came here to talk about the owner, who came to our table to personally enhance our service. It could've been because they weren't busy, but that doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is that he didn't have to. What matters is how much he obviously cares about his business and his customers. To me that makes all the difference between a great restaurant and one that's unforgettable.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I loved the carbonara. So delicious! The bread was also nice. The servers and the owner were all so kind. George, the owner, made his way around to the tables, chatting to so many. It's clear he knows and cares about his customers, so many are regulars and people bringing in their family members for a great meal and to introduce them to George. The food was so delicious. I got the house salad, carbonara, tiramisu, and a decaf coffee at the end. It seems they have a great wine selection (I don't drink, though), so definitely check that out! I would definitely recommend coming here. We also had a chat about quality of food and ingredients and it sounds like George genuinely cares about not only what he eats, but also his customers. The quality and simplicity of ingredients matter, especially in our fast paced world. A first time customer that'll definitely be a regular here on out.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
Amazing! I had their red snapper special and my husband had the lasagna special. Then, we were encouraged to have some tiramisu. The owner/manager came with some dessert wine and good conversation. We WILL BE BACK!

Cindy C.

Yelp
We tried Primi Piatti on a Wednesday evening. We were a little hesitant due to a bad review by someone. We had the place all to ourselves since we arrived early for dinner. The poster mentioned the place not being clean. I can tell you it was exceptionally clean and tastefully decorated. Linen table covers and serving dishes were spotless. The bread was served warm and the dipping sauce was not in a tiny bowl. In fact after both of us indulged , there was a generous amount leftover. We both ordered the lasagna and it was amazing! Served piping hot in a boat shaped bowl. Both of us took enough home for a second meal. Service was exceptional!
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Had a great dinner and the service was perfect...not too much but always on point. The ambiance is welcoming and the owner makes rounds to welcome guests. I don't remember anything negative with my service.

Greg D.

Yelp
Excellent sea bass! Owner shared an Italian beer with me. Very nice ambiance as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Primi chicken and chicken francese were excellent! Very nice atmosphere. The service was on point!

Yelp
Second visit here. Food is very good but service is not. I can definitely tell I'm not welcome, lol. They make it known very plainly with the ignoring of my presence. And that's cool. After my next visit, that will be the last. Love the food though.

Alden M.

Yelp
Always a great place to eat! So accommodating and the service was amazing! We will be back as this is one of our favs in the neighborhood!!!

J H.

Yelp
This has been a staple in my dining experience! The owner is a great entertainer! if you looking for authentic Italian food and home feeling this is the place! this is the best spot in Jax!!!
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Don't waste your time anywhere else. Come see George and transport yourself into the Italian country side. Came in as a late Valentine's Day date night and we were blown away! My wife had our server bring us his two favorite dishes and both were incredible. Amazing wine list to boot! 10/10
google avatar

Steve O.

Yelp
Great place for any special occasion. The food is fabulous and the service is the best. Yes, this is old school Italian and as close to the real Italian as you can get in the states. The mozzarella caprese was on a par with most first course I had in Naples, Rome, and Taranto. The spinach ravioli is a great choice for ricotta fans. The star of the meal was by far the chicken parmigiana, tender and cooked to perfection. Can't wait to bring my friends.

Stephanie L.

Yelp
The food was incredible. The service put the wonderful food and wine to shame, however. George is truly a treasure. He treated everyone in the restaurant like family and made us feel like he had known us all his life. This tiny little restaurant is beautiful and cozy, with wonderful ambiance and an absolutely incredible experience and meal.

Carolyn N.

Yelp
Stumbled across this gem on accident and wow... a new favorite! From espresso to crab bisque made in house with real crab meat, fettuccine Alfredo to a fabulous lemon dessert I loved everything and will be back . George, the owner is great. He truly cares about his customers and business and has even been there for 17 years . He is such a kind person and I feel like family when I come here . They have a great selection of wines and even Italian beers. the ambience is there and the patio out front is adorable . I recommend dining here for any special occasion from anniversary to birthday as it is a fine dining scene , and the staff will help make it special !

John N.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Could not recommend more. From the owner (who is incredibly personable) to the staff, to the cooks. These people are incredible. Highly highly recommend this restaurant if you want to have an incredible time and eat a meal that makes you leave talking to your significant other about how you will tell friends about this.

John L.

Yelp
Lovely hidden-gem in Jacksonville. Small restaurant but excellent food that has that old family recipe that's been passed down taste.

Yelp
This was the second time we'd been to Primi in the last month. First time, we were in the area and stopped by not knowing what to expect. It was fabulous. So we went again tonight and George was our guy. He was amazing. It was really busy with every table full but he and his staff navigated things well. The setting is nice with Italian prints and Tuscan inspired color palette. My wife had the gnocchi again and I had the chicken parmigiana this time. Diablo last time. Both were great. We told him we were headed to Milan in a week and he came out with a bottle of Chianti he wanted to try with us and we ended up drinking the whole thing. This is our place from now on. George is our guy and looking forward to bringing him a few bottles from northern Italy for his own drinking pleasure.

Lauren M.

Yelp
This was our first time here and we had the best experience. The staff and owner were so nice and welcoming! We will be back and I definitely recommend to others!

Latisha Y.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years now. Whether it's for a leisurely lunch or celebrating something special for dinner, we always get great service, and the food is fantastic. It's a treat to go out to eat and have it be consistently good. We ordered caprese salad, a cup of pasta e fagioli, a cup of crab bisque, shrimp scampi linguine, lasagna and a slice of chocolate mousse cake.
google avatar

Yelp
Was not impressed with the food or service-- maybe better luck next time ‍ I do want to try when they have a live show.. Will update post

Yelp
Had an excellent tasting dinner. Both entrees were outstanding and so was the appetizer. Wine was tasty as well.

Warwick61 W.

Yelp
While visiting from out of town our son suggested we try Primi Piatti. It turned out this unassuming restaurant is GREAT! The charming decor suggests an old, family-owned restaurant, and that is what it is. The service was first class, and the food was excellent. All of our five different main dishes were delicious, as was the she crab soup starter and the limoncello cake desert. Prices are very reasonable. Staff is friendly, and the manager super gracious. He even treated us to after dinner complimentary wines (of excellent quality) and sat with us to chat for some time. Whenever we visit Jacksonville again we will definitely return to Primi Piatti. They do not seem to have a website, but that is a minor item, totally surpassed by the food and service.

Chloe C.

Yelp
amazing restaurant. We ordered just about every seafood pasta dish and Everything was superb. The owner/ manager brought us a bottle of wine to try and we loved it! Customers for life right here(: highly recommend
