Everyone’s dishes were phenomenal. I ordered the Moroccan Chicken which was cooked to perfection and served with an excellent lemon based sauce and veggies. The atmosphere had the perfect ambiance for the occasion and service that was equally amazing. The sticky toffee pudding was a perfect dessert to end the night and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested.

Pretty great Italian. Pasta was clearly homemade and delicious. Penna Vodka was as usual delicious. Standout this time was the burrata appetizer…a wonderful bite of food!!! Crave it and will go back for that. Penne bolognese s excellent. At first surprised by the lack of tomato base of this dish, but it was actually amazingly delicious!! Couldn’t finish close to all the food. Only complaint was the Caesar salad was way over-dressed, but a minor thing overall….just need to put about 50 percent less dressing, otherwise would be an excellent Caesar salad. Service very good. I know people complain about the added 20 percent tip, my only critique of this is that they don’t even give the option to tip more than this, which I would have. I have to assume, that they must have problems w people not tipping this minimum. Also hazelnut brownie sundae was pretty good

Primo Grill is a very classy, yet relaxed restaurant. I absolutely loved the decor and vibe of the place. We were greeted right away. We had a reservation but I did see that people could walk-in and get sat as well. They offer gluten-free noodles and I highly recommend the shrimp scampi with those noodles (PHENOMENAL)! The service was incredible. If you save room for dessert, the bourbon chocolate cake is where it’s at (also gluten free and delicious). Overall a truly great experience and definitely worth the stop. Fair warning - dishes are $17 or so and up but still worth it in my opinion. This would be the perfect place for a date. As far as parking, they don’t have a designated parking lot but there is parking available on the street around the building and surrounding area.

The food has been spot on. Chef and kitchen are amazing. Bartenders get it right every time Seth has made us feel like the only guest in a full house. This is a hidden gem.

Been here a couple times and each time was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding is a must! Got the Moroccan chicken and the tagliatelle this time and both were fantastic!

Google
Hands down the BEST restaurant around. The food was cooked to perfection! Almost unbelievably well. So much so my husband personally went and thanked the chef for how well his pork chop was cooked, seasoned, the overall flavors for the dishes... He went on and on about this being the FIRST RESTAURANT EVER that made a pork chop correctly. Perfectly. Melts in the mouth with perfect flavor.... The calamari, that was the other dish that blew him away. He never thought he would like calamari that wasn't breaded... Until he tried this one. Yet again he was blown away. Loved it. I really enjoyed the homemade stuffed raviolis with a corn filling. Super good. Drinks were awesome! This is now on our list of DEFINITELY RETURN ASAP.. next time we are in that area of Tacoma we will be dropping in for a meal. Last but not least... The service was GREAT!! loved our waitress. Very attentive, explained everything we had questions about perfectly. The drink recommendation was spot on. I always LOVE waitresses and waiters that you can trust.. I'm in the mood for this I'm leaving it up to you .. and they knock it out of the park. You can absolutely trust your server here to try new things you may not be so brave to do at other places... They know their menu 💯. I hope this helps anyone trying to find a great restaurant, perfect environment, awesome servers, and DELICIOUS FOOD!!! (Be prepared to be STUFFED! 😉)... Your welcome in advance! 🤗

Google
I had high hopes for this place that unfortunately disappointed. The food was not high quality and seemed overpriced for something that could be made at home. The mixed green salad was not good. The penne alla vodka tasted jarred and lacked flavor. The carbonara was yummy, despite egg shells being present. The happy hour deals, however, made up for the food. Tasty drinks at a fair price. Great ambiance and fair service, but the quality of food deters us from going back.

Google
The person who took my order was very kind, other than that absolutely horrible. Pasta was not cooked all the way. Asparagus in our appetizer not cooked or seasoned, whole dish was trash honestly. Ordered 2 ravioli dishes, they both came with 6 ravioli each!! I was billed $110 for this. A addition almost $8 togo fee AND a 10% tip for what!!! I hardly ever post reviews but.. NEVER AGAIN.. Do better!!!

Yelp
My food was bussin. Best environment and steaks. The pork chop is also bussin. The owner is also a great guy

Yelp
Went here for Valentine's Day and had a phenomenal experience! Not only was the service quick, attentive, and friendly, the aesthetic was nice and the food was excellent. To start, my wife and I tried their brand new Espresso Martini and to our astonishment, the bartender actually came up to our table and told us it was the first day that they were offering that drink and wanted an honest review. Truthfully, it was great! Sometimes espresso martinis don't have the right mix of flavor and just taste like bitter vodka and coffee, separately. But this drink was very succinct and well mixed. We had the ragu and the New York steak and both dishes exceeded our expectations! I have no notes or ideas for improvement, they were perfection! This is the perfect place for a date night or business meeting. Thanks for the awesome night!

Yelp
Just stopped in for some drinks. This place has a super cute, clean and refined look to it. I love the big windows that open up to the outside for when the weather is nice. We were greeted by an incredibly welcoming host who let us know that we could sit anywhere we'd like at the bar. We visited on a Saturday right when they opened at 4 o'clock and we're surprised to see that they had a happy hour during that time. Although we didn't order anything from that menu still unattractive option. My friend ordered a nonalcoholic cocktail which looked beautiful, but had table salt all over the rim. So overwhelming she had to scrape it off in order to enjoy her drink. Unfortunately, a good amount of it fell in her drink, and she couldn't finish the bottom portion because it was so salty. I ordered the rosy bees knees and it just felt like a confusing drink. Love the description and flavor profile but it wasn't executed very well. The drinks unfortunately, were not enough to get us to come back to enjoy dinner here later. Cannot comment on their actual food, but these two drinks left us pretty disappointed.

Yelp
This was a very cute place for a date night. The food was quite tasty and we were so happy with our appetizers. For our main, my husband got the penne ala vodka with a half chicken. The chicken had great flavor and the past was also good. I got the pork chop which I normally don't do that often because pork is hard to cook. It came out and it was medium rare (and no one advised that it would be undercooked or asked for a temp) It took a long time for us to flag down our waitress after we got our mains so by the time I got my dish back, my husband was done eating. The drinks were very good also. We got the chocolate cake which isn't listed as flourless so it can be misleading as to what it is. We got the vanilla panna cotta as well which was good but we weren't blown away by either dessert. When all was said and done our bill was well over 200 for the two of us and we were honestly shocked that we didn't get comp'd a small something for me getting medium rare pork. They also add 20% to your bill when it comes out. Be prepared to drop a good amount of money when you come here!

Yelp
This charming spot made for a great dining experience. The restaurant was bright, clean, and welcoming, with a super friendly staff that added to the warm atmosphere. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious, it was tough to choose a favorite! One of the pastas or the appetizer might take the top spot, but honestly, everything was so good. We enjoyed every bite and even ended up ordering a second pizza because we just couldn't get enough!

Yelp
Primo Grill has been on sixth Ave for twenty five years and now that I've eaten here four times in the last few years, I know why. It's unpretentious, welcoming, and the food is perfect every time. The bartender mixes my favorite Old Fashioned in Tacoma and the Happy Hour deal is one of the best. I love being at Primo, it accomplishes that rare feat of being comfortable and special at the same time.

Yelp
Classy and delicious! In from Honolulu for graduation weekend, and we found this restaurant and we're happily surprised at everything. The staff and especially our waitress's was top notch. The food exceptional. I had the chicken and it was cooked perfect with a Mediterranean flavor. Everyone else dish was excellent. You won't be disappointed, we weren't

Yelp
We love this place!! The ambiance is great and the food is amazing! The best calamari we have ever had. Make sure you order the focaccia bread to dip in the sauce!! We all ordered pasta dishes. Delish!! We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
The pork chop with the peach chutney and butternut squash hash is absolute perfection! Make sure you eat it in house! It is truly delectable! The perfect balance of flavors . You can taste the smokiness of the apple wood in the pork chop, along with the sweet with a hint of spicy in the chutney. The butternut squash hash is cooked perfectly with incredible flavor.

Yelp
The vibe was very nice with lots of natural light. The food was fantastic - we shared two pasta dishes and both were excellent!

Yelp
Always known for wonderful dishes to try, lovely and inviting environment and service, without being over-charged. Primo is a delightful establishment to go to for any celebration.

Yelp
Primo is the familiar old friend that always has something exciting to share! We have been to Primo many times over the years and even though we live in Puyallup now, we still make time to come here. They just never fail us and we always enjoy our meals, they have staples on the menu that you can enjoy time and time again, or try one of the seasonal specials which are creative and delicious. There's always a full restaurant and it's a pleasant atmosphere, full of rich conversations and laughter. The service is great and always attentive, you can tell everyone wants you to enjoy your time at Primo. We will always recommend this place.

Yelp
Stopped here because I've heard good things and the place is cute inside. It was pretty crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. I ordered the grilled Moroccan chicken and was pretty disappointed. It was extremely fatty. The dish also came with "lemon aioli" which just tasted like mayonnaise. The marble potatoes were pretty tasteless. Not worth the $30. But because it was happy hour, you could get decent $8 house wines. If I ever go back, I would need to try something totally different.

Yelp
Went for happy hour with a couple of friends, which is a great way to enjoy a variety of menu items at a great value. The mushroom goat cheese pizza was outstanding, and the steak frites was delicious as well, though I would have preferred not to have the frites served on top of some sort of tangy sauce that made them a bit soggy. Next time I would ask to skip the sauce. The mixed salad with hazelnuts was divine...the dressing almost tasted like a lemon custard dessert! They have wines on tap, which is a great way to ensure a fresh glass of wine. Love the environment - small, cozy and non-pretentious.

Yelp
I'm sad it took me this long to try primo! I hope they are in Tacoma forever! The creamy Parmesan polenta was to die for! 10/10. Everything was yummy but this appetizer stole the show.

Janet F.

Yelp
Margherita Pizza The bottom of the pizza was burned and the pizza was dry. I wanted to like this place but I'm very disappointed.

Yelp
We recently went to Primo for my boyfriend's birthday. The cocktails and food were SO good. I can't believe we hadn't been to Primo before. It was hard to choose what to order since everything sounded so good! Thankfully, our server gave excellent recommendations. The tagliatelle was fresh since it was made in house and the sauce was flavorful. My boyfriend said his steak was cooked to perfection. We ended the meal with the hazelnut brownie sundae which was a decadent birthday treat. We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Primo Grill - 4/5 Stars Primo was a relaxing and delicious dining experience. The menu was nice and our waiter was extremely polite and gave great recommendations based on our conversation. I absolutely loved the swordfish special from the day we went and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic dinner date.

Yelp
This response is a disappointing example of poor leadership and customer service. Rather than taking any accountability, it's filled with deflection and excuses. To be clear, there was confirmation on my end--so please correct that misinformation. And yes, we were fully aware it was Mother's Day--that's exactly why we were there: to celebrate my mother. What became obvious during our visit was that larger parties were prioritized over smaller ones--and why should that be the case when I made my reservation over a month in advance. Regardless of the holiday or other events in the area, that has nothing to do with how my party was treated or the lack of professionalism we experienced. My mother--the guest of honor--had to step in and help your team figure out where to seat us. That shouldn't happen at any restaurant, especially one claiming to deliver quality service. I've been to much busier restaurants that provided far better service. Unfortunately, when I reflect on the experience, it also gave off racial bias--whether intentional or not, the disparity in how we were treated was noticeable. At the end of the day, this is about the principle of how your establishment treats people--and that's clearly something that's being missed here. No response is necessary. Best of luck to the new owners. Y'all surely will need it if this is how you respond to feedback.

Yelp
I wanted to go somewhere classic, so we drove right into Tacoma and found Primo. We were greeted right and sat near the bar . We started with the mussels in a chive curry cream sauce--rich and aromatic. The lobster shrimp pasta, made with hand-crafted noodles, was a perfect balance of creamy and savory, while the lobster tails were tender and buttery. Nothing lasted long enough for photos A highlight of the evening was when the owner personally visited our table, checking on us and recommending desserts. We took his advice and tried the vanilla panna cotta--smooth, light, and the perfect way to end the meal. With its excellent food, warm service from Rachel, and inviting atmosphere, Primo Grill was a top-tier dining experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing nice evening

Yelp
We went for a birthday dinner and we were seated right away! The server was quick to tell us the specials and made sure to go over some great vegetarian options! We got an appetizer and 2 main courses. The mushroom pasta was delicious and it was fun to try the pesto pasta dish as well! The best was the dessert, we did have to pay for the birthday dessert (which I thought would've been complimentary) but we got the brownie sundae and it was divine! Only thing I was surprised with was that they allowed babies in, one was crying and fussy on the other side of where we were sitting.. and parking was kind of a hassle.

Yelp
All around lovely. Blended red wine flavorful and smooth. Pumpkin ravioli rich and delicate. Loved the sage. Pasta dish with chanterelles delicate and clean but still full of flavor. Dessert perfect for sharing. All around great meal and relaxed yet attentive service... Left feeling totally satisfied and yet not over full. Perfect portions. Love love love.

Yelp
We just hosted our son's wedding rehearsal dinner at Primo's and everything was AMAZING!! Planning the menu and venue logistics with Rebekah made it seamless and provided great guidance. The private room was perfect for the event and all the food was delicious. Rachel our server was wonderful and the food from the kitchen for such a large group was timed perfectly. I would highly recommend this place for great food and service.

Yelp
They never answer their phone after 8pm. If they don't want orders after 8 they should state that on their website. Not the close at 8:45 BS

Yelp
I visited Primo Grill with a small group before attending a nearby Christmas play. We stopped in here for some pre-play dinner and drinks and had a great time! Service was great and really attentive, and they were really gracious with my group after me being half an hour late *eeeek* due to bad traffic. The atmosphere is great as well, definitely more of an intimate/romantic vibe. My table saved me some bites of some of the appetizers, and the standout for me was the roasted cauliflower. I think cauliflower is SO underrated and this dish was done sooo well. Would definitely get it again! For my entree, I got the carbonara. Can almost never say no if that's on the menu. It was definitely really good, but I can't say it's the best I've had. Still really tasty though, just was missing a little bit more flavor! It was my first time in and I definitely plan on returning for happy hour (in the bar only) as they have a really great and affordable HH menu. Would be fun to come back and enjoy with some girlfriends!

Teresa W.

Yelp
Poor preparation for our Mothers Day reservation. They were not accommodating as our reservation was made over a month in advance. The owner was frazzled and unable to problem solve not wanting to inconvenience other reservations. We were told they usually put reservations for three at the bar or tabletop but clearly that wasn't true as we later saw parties of 3 seated at tables. It's not worth the 20 percent service charge for this low level service. Food was okay but not exceptional.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
The focaccia is very good but the pasta and sauces are very gloopy and bland without much flavor.
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
Its been a while since I last reviewed, but I do have to say we have been visiting at least once a year to Primo Grill. Primo Grill continues to be a 5-star restaurant each visit. We made a reservation a year prior and requested for a seat by the window because i wanted it to be "romantic and special" for the hubby's birthday. They did just that. For entrees we ordered the seafood special which was between the lobster or the salmon. Salmon was soft and not dry and was served atop asparagus. The asparagus was lightly drizzled in oil. We also ordered the Classic Pizza. Very thin crust and tasted much better fresh than to take home. Not thick cheese mor overloaded with condiments. Overall, will continue to come back here again. Always a treat to have before a show or for a date night.

Yelp
My fiancé and I went out for my birthday tonight and received recommendations to this spot! Lauren was our server and made our time here super memorable and nice! We ordered a margarita pizza, creamy polenta, calamari, pesto pasta and pork chop! Every dish was so good, we just couldn't finish it all. Lauren was extremely attentive and made sure we didn't have even an empty plate or glass of water on our table. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

Sam W.

Yelp
I love my weekly visit to the Primo Grill. But to be completely honest something has changed. Thank God for my bartender John . Even when he is super busy making all the cocktails for the entire restaurant,he always makes sure we are well taken care of and makes every visit special. ( It doesn't hurt that he is very handsome.) We hope that things return to the level of dining that makes Primo Grill so special.

Yelp
The food and staff is amazing. The drink menu is also great. My wife and I thought we were in Seattle with the way they had the restaurant set up was beautiful.

Yelp
This is a nice spot in Tacoma. Boys like the food here and the environment is family friendly.

Yelp
My girls and I had a 6:45 reservation on a Saturday night. Here's what we enjoyed: the salads were fresh, pizza and carbonara pasta was delish, the hazelnut brownie sundae was the perfect ending to the meal. Our server was attentive and kind. This restaurant is really cute and I loved the feel of the dining room. Unfortunately, we were seated in a back room near the bathroom. The meal was a bit pricey but the food was good quality. I will definitely return and would love to check out their happy hour!

Yelp
Went for Valentine's Day , got steak and it was grizzly. I kept having to spit in my napkin cause couldn't chew. Brussels sprouts not the best partially covered with flavor .For the amount of money you pay it wasn't worth it. Appetizer was probably the best part of the meal the cauliflower bites. Customers service was not on top of it. Especially when you're forced to automatically pay 20% for a tip. They don't even have a tip line on receipt automatically just adds it in . If it was Cuervo bravo yes I'd be happy to pay that but no where near . Me and my boyfriend won't be going back .Sorta sucks I been wanting to try that place for along time and very disappointing .

Yelp
Our second time ever eating here and I'd give it 4.5 stars. There was four of us and we all loved our food. We had the polenta with Gruyere cheese to start and a roasted vegetable balsamic salad. I had the pork tagliatelle and it was great. My boyfriend had the lamb shank and really liked it too. Our friends had the salmon and the roast chicken; they liked their food a lot too. For dessert my boyfriend and I shared a bourbon-chocolate, flourless torte that was delicious. Our friends had a coconut layer cake and a sticky toffee pudding. That last one was the stand out. Sooo delicious. That with a bourbon neat would be delicious. Service was good but dinner was a very leisurely and long experience which we didn't mind. We'll be back again!
google avatar

Saemyi L.

Yelp
We had our staff dinner in the back area so we had a set menu we can choose from. All the things I ordered were great and service was good. My only complaint is they set 4 tables with 7 seats each and it was just awkward to have odd numbered seating.

Yelp
This place was perfect for what we were looking for. I wanted somewhere that felt special on a Sunday night for a 10 year anniversary. Primo was primo. It's at great length of a place that feels casual while still feeling special. The service was great - so efficient at friendly. No weight, no attitude, the server checked in often. I did make a reservation, but it wasn't that busy on a Sunday night. It was a beautiful evening. They had huge window/doors that were up, adding to a really open-air feel to the restaurant. All the food was good a couple things were great ie a white, salmon special and the sticky toffee pudding. So grateful for restaurants and staff who have survived the pandemic, and create a great environment to eat in .

Yelp
Sat at the bar and received EXCELLENT service from Tyler. Beautiful bar ambience with an open air kitchen! And dimly lit seating. Definitely great for a date night! Awesome food and amazing flavor. Tried the penne and it was well seasoned with a perfect amount of Parmesan! The steak was cooked to perfection and the Brussels sprouts were crisp and packed with flavor. Try the "Italian Panoma" it's a game changer! I love reposado.

Yelp
Wow this has got to be my favorite restaurant in Tacoma. The food is delicious the specials are chosen by what's fresh. The service is very prompt and always friendly. There is a real sense of care in all that work the floor.the menu has a good cross of everything one might want with gluten free options. The wine list is nice and cocktails are delicious. Save room for dessert!!!
google avatar

Tom B.

Yelp
Food and atmosphere were generally very good however the service left a lot of room for improvement. We had a reservation on a Saturday night so I understand it gets busy but when we only see our server (Rachael J) essentially twice: when she took our order and when she dropped off the check, an auto 20% gratuity on a $100+ bill was not at all deserving. On top of that our order was wrong and was only fixed when the expeditor took it upon himself to make sure we got what we ordered. Normally, I would write something like this as a one off but this was our first impression of a restaurant we were excited to try after recently moving to the area and it left an overall sour taste in our mouth (service-wise). We will probably come back because the food was good but hope the quality of the service will reflect the price of the bill.

Yelp
Food is good, staff is outgoing and has good team work. Menu is not too big. Could expand a little

Yelp
Excellent service and food. They even sent out a bought the lamb I liked and prepared it for me even though it was not on the menu/. OMG It was so good. The people are so friendly. My children took me their for my birthday. It was awesome. I felt so comfortable there.

Yelp
We are meat lovers- I ordered the ribeye and hubby ordered the braised rib. I took 2 bite and stopped. I know I wasn't at Butchers House but my steak tasted like it was from Dennys.. very grainy, hard & chewy. And I think the chef forgot to season it. My husband's "braised rib" was glorified pot roast. It wasn't all bad though, the staff was AWESOME!! Nowadays, nice service is so hard to find. AND our sides & Appetizers were also delicious!! They just need to step it up with the meat.
google avatar

Laurie B.

Yelp
We finally made it here for a birthday dinner after hearing about it for years. The service and everything we ordered were absolutely wonderful. So sorry we waited to eat here but we will definitely be regulars now.
google avatar

Christy P.

Yelp
The food was super good!!! Atmosphere was good, service was a little slow and no wine recs but I would for sure go there again!!!
google avatar

Thomas R.

Yelp
It was very busy when we went, but with our reservation, we were seated almost immediately! The appetizer was very good and our entrees were delicious! But, we both LOVED the Toffee Pudding for dessert! Rich and decadent with so much flavor! The restaurant was a little loud , but we didn't have any trouble talking about our day!

J P.

Yelp
I wouldn't consider this Mediterranean food. More like New American with a slight Italian/Mediterranean influence. Food was good, not great or anything super exciting. Especially for the price. Service was extremely slow (waitstaff) and we kept getting bumped by people walking behind our chairs, so it felt like the layout was a bit cramped. There were kids and babies there and while that isn't a problem on principle, as a parent myself out on a date with my husband I don't want to pay $200 for dinner while sitting next to fussy kids. I can do that at home for a LOT less. Probably won't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the first time I've been to Primo Grill in years! We decided to stop by for a drink and I was craving a salad. Yum. I loved the vinaigrette and the citrus dressing was very nice. My significant other ordered the truffle fries. They were really good, as well, and came with some sort of delicious ketchup and aioli. We decided we had to try the gruyere polenta because It sounded fabulous. It was really tasty, but I couldn't eat a ton of it. Fair enough. I loved the basil gimlet. I probably could have had a few more! I imagine I will be making these at home! All in all, everything was really good, the vibe was super chill, which I appreciate, and the happy hour prices are awesome!
