A fresh Tobin Hill entry serving handmade pasta, pizzas, and a fun brunch. The San Antonio Express-News praised the cooking while noting the thumping soundtrack; Axios also spotlighted its playful drinks. Go early if you prefer a quieter vibe.

My wife and I were searching for a date night eatery. We came across Primos last night while searching . So we made a reservation for today . We read so many wonderful reviews about the place so we came with high expectations. I must say we were still blown away with our entire experience. The food was incredible , and our server Lindsey was nothing less than spectacular. Her recommendations were spot on and she was just a joy to talk to . She even recommended some other local spots to hear live music and have some cocktails. Even though my wife and I are stuffed still, we are so looking forward to our next visit there .

Decided to reserve a table for date night after seeing a reel on social media. Started off by trying their signature appetizer the arancini and it was delicious! Great selection of wines and cocktails. Had a bottle of the red wine from Sicily and it was very smooth. For dinner we had the roasted pork porterhouse and the margherita pizza and they were both fantastic. Trey and the rest of the staff were very hospitable and provided exceptional service. Would absolutely recommend for your next date night spot or a nice family dinner.

They turned the old Nola location into a cute neighborhood pizza joint. The drinks were outstanding. Recommend the limoncello margarita 10/10. We started out with the meatball appetizer 10/10 flavor and sauce were great . The double pepperoni pizza was incredible. Def recommend that. This place has nailed the consistency of crispy crust and just enough doughy pizza ratio. The pizza isn't flavorless. The Gustoso was good as well. Just think it needs a little bit more sauce to get it back over into the pizza category. I would definitely recommend and go back. Service was excellent !

Google
Location and atmosphere are casual and nothing special but the food made up for it! We inhaled the Arancini balls which just needed a little more sauce and then scarfed down the Supremo pizza which was delicious. The Scallop Tagliatelle was also very good. They have two desserts, Brown Butter Cake and Tiramisu, so get both as they are both delightful.

Google
This place is the real deal! We came for brunch, ordered the Calamari as an appetizer, and the Baked Eggs did not disappoint. The Baked Eggs are extremely flavorful and the focaccia bread to dip into it is chefs kiss! The only note I have on it is the sauce is so good that I wish we had another piece of focaccia bread to dip into it and finish every last bit as it’s that good. The Calamari is high quality, cut into large chunks, and has an amazing lemon aioli sauce that paired perfectly. It also included some bonus fried onions and fried shishito peppers. I’ll definitely be coming back for dinner very soon!

I have been to Primos for brunch and dinner and everything has been fantastic! The servers are all so friendly and eager to provide a great service. The place is so cozy and inviting that we ended up staying a little extra longer to indulge on desserts and coffee. The food was all amazing, pastas and pizzas are made from scratch and you can tell!Just great food and great people running it which makes the experience perfect. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants✨

Google
I'm hyper critical when it comes to food. I expected to be let down by the new Italian place in san antonio. This couldn't have been farther from the truth. Fiona at the hostess stand was informative and cordial without being over bearing. Our waiter Alan was attentive without looming with us wanting for nothing. The scallop tagliatelle was delicious. With the size of the scallops I expected them to be frozen but they were fresh and were as sweet as the ocean with an aromatic sauce. The meatballs were flavorful and to your nona's standards. The true stand outs were the risotto which shined through with the creamy texture and the broth that it was cooked in shined as bright as the san antonio sun. The ravioli had a citrus pop that elevated the perfectly al dente pasta. Smaller menu done to expert standards. Your new go to modern Italian destination.

Google
First time since it opened, taking over the old NOLA venue. An Italinate menu with nice variety. Calamari for appetizer with green shishito peppers deep fried were a nice start along with special mention for the Southside SA cocktail - gin mint and cucumber in a coupe glass was very refreshing. The porterhouse pork with polenta and the garlic crispy chicken get bonus points. Modern decor and a nice bar. Service was very good, friendly and prompt. Fiona, the manager, was very nice and engaging with a sharp eye on everything. I'll be back

Yelp
Beautiful little restaurant that is very clean and organized. Staff was very kind. Portions were generous and delicious! Would highly recommend the chicken parm sandwich!!!

Yelp
Heard about this place on SA Live and it's Italian so I just had to find out first hand. From the moment we entered I felt the vibes this is the place. The waiter was amazing and I knew this was going to be my place to go. He was very polite and attentive my friend and I just had appetizers. It was 11 in the morning but they were ready to make our stay pleasant. I can't wait to return and dive into some of their other dishes. Yelp
From start to finish, just a fantastic experience. We loved every bit of this place - the ambience., the service, the appetizers, the drinks, the food! Caesar salad was awesome and the pizza amazed us. The dessert was purely delicious and all drinks were incredible. This will be a go to spot for us to take out of towners.

Yelp
We went to Primos last night and really enjoyed it. The calamari, mixed with peppers and onions, was excellent. The arancini had great flavor, though they were unfortunately lukewarm, almost cold, in the center. We got the sausage pasta, which was decent, but he wasn't a fan of the broccoli rabe in the dish. Now the pizza: easily the best we've had in San Antonio. Everything about it was spot on. The brown sugar cake was absolutely incredible, and the drinks were delicious. Overall, a great night out!!

Yelp
New restaurant where our old favorite Cookhouse used to be. I made reservations just in case Friday nights were busy. Despite having reservations, we still had to wait for a table. With the wait, we ordered some alcoholic beverages. The restaurant seemed like it was lacking coordination in service. Once seated, I ordered the calamari that came with fried olives and onions. Very delicious! For mains, I ordered the scallops tagliatelle and my husband got the pork porterhouse. Tagliatelle was on point with the texture, but flavors were pretty mundane. My husband enjoyed his porterhouse and didnt share. He said it was good! Outside of the service, I would say the food was pretty decent.

Yelp
Recommend: No Food: We went for brunch and ordered the Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich and Big boy pizza. We also ordered the Foccacia and Steam Mussles. The dishes were ok, nothing spectacular or that stood out. For that reason, we found that the price was too expensive. Service: The service was great. Waiter was very attentive and friendly. Ambiance: very cute restaurant, quiet, and intimate.

Yelp
In the spot that once housed NOLA and Cookhouse, Primo's brings a fresh start to the established space. The menu is Italian inspired, but with more creative options like a scallop tagliatelle in basil cream sauce and cheese ravioli with brown butter and asparagus. The chefs focus on quality not quantity is appreciated with respect for each dish. A house focaccia served with whipped ricotta and honey drizzle offered the perfect blend of sweetness with savory. The meal rounded off with some kind of brown butter cake that was warm and melty in the center topped with vanilla ice cream. Plenty of wines and drinks along with a cozy vibe.

Yelp
We decided to try out this new restaurant that we saw on social media. It was great! We booked last minute reservations and were sat outside, they had fans going so it was bearable, but I would recommend trying to sit inside, if possible (the restaurant is on the smaller side, so I can see it filling up very quickly). Our server was very attentive and had great recommendations for us. Their drink menu was a fun twist on classic cocktails, I got the aperol spritz like drink and it was sweet and yummy. We started off with the meatballs and calamari as an appetizer. The sauce on the meatballs was great, I wish I could have had bread to accompany it (one downfall, no free bread like most Italian restaurants offer). The calamari was served and thick pieces, so the breading to calamari ratio was great, not too much breading per bite. For our main entrees, we split the cheese ravioli and a pizza. The cheese ravioli filling was superb, and the sauce had a semi sweet taste to it, definitely not like a normal cheese ravioli you would expect. The pizza was a little above average, nothing spectacular but better than your common takeout pizza. Another call out is that it is in the pricier side for Italian. However, I would definitely recommend coming here as it was a great experience! We'll be back soon to try out some of the brunch menu items!

Yelp
Incredible experience. Grabbed a quick (late) lunch as an "out-of-towner." Server Caleb was excellent. Super sweet and patient as we decided. Hostess from the start was extremely friendly and a great face to the restaurant. Food was fresh and yummy. Ambiance was exactly what we were looking for on our summer weekend getaway.

Yelp
A cute restaurant that offers great food, cocktails and service. I am very picky with Italian food, because I feel the true essence is always lost but not here. I have been here for brunch and dinner already and loved it! I tried the lemon ricotta pancakes with their coffee ( I know they are not a coffeehouse but this is one of the best coffees I have had in a long time they even make in a italian moka pot) and their pancakes were fluffy and just hit the right spot. For dinner we had a bottle of wine, pasta, my friend had the steak and shared a pizza. All amazing the pizza feels authentic, the steak was cooked to perfection, the risotto was amazing and the pasta felt homemade and intentional. Definitely a fantastic addition to San Antonio's culinary experience. Oh and one must not forget the famous dolcezza which is an epic gooey cake. A definite must try!

Yelp
cute little restaurant where NOLA used to be on st mary's. we made a reservation for a friday night and there wasn't too many people when we got there but i would definitely recommend a reservation since it's a smaller restaurant. it was definitely quality and fresh food. the menu isn't huge but they do make accommodations.

Yelp
This place was lovely for an impromptu Tuesday night girl dinner! Excellent service and simple, clean aesthetic. It was quiet on a weeknight, but the cocktails were nice. The food and dessert were good. We got the tiramisu and... yum! I'd come back!

Yelp
My first time going to Primos during lunch for my sisters birthday & it was so lovely! The atmosphere & ambiance was very nice. Our server was so friendly, gave good recommendations & made sure everything was perfect. We started off with the focaccia appetizer & it was delicious! The bread was light & fluffy, matched perfectly with the cheese & meat. The main courses did not disappoint, the fresh made pasta was cooked to perfection & the flavor was amazing. The sandwich was nice & crispy & the garlic knot was perfect. The pizza was delicious & was good for sharing! Will be back!

Yelp
Met up for lunch on a Tuesday. Just two of us. Girlfriend and I. She made a reservation for 11:30 AM. Walked in and was the only one in the restaurant. The host and server Caleb was extremely personable and attentive to us. When she arrived, we decided to sit out outside as it was not a scorcher that day, but still warm. He turned on the fans for us. We ordered a shareable appetizer; the focaccia. It consisted of whipped ricotta cheese, a honey drizzle, capicola, olives, and sweety drop peppers. It was delicious, especially if you are an olive lover. And by olive lover, I mean green and black. Especially green. They like their green olives here and they are salty and delicious paired with the sweetness. The bread was outstanding. It was crispy on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside. Unfortunately once we started eating in came the flies. They were so annoying. Caleb saw us constantly swatting them away and was kind enough to bring us one of the mechanical fly swatting machines. Unfortunately, it did not keep them at bay and when it was time for us to receive our entrées, we changed it up on him once again and returned inside. As we were dining, patrons started to come in and fill up the restaurant but for the longest time, it was only the two of us. We each ordered an Arnold Palmer as our beverage and we each ordered our own pizza. She ordered the Gustoso (mushroom, red onions, roasted garlic, arugula and ricotta). I ordered the Big Boy (spicy capicola sausage, green olives, and mozzarella). Again, Delicioso. If you are not not an olive fan, ask for the pizza without them or give it a go. The size of these pizzas are definitely shareable and she and I each decided to get our own so that we would have plenty of leftovers to take home. We were offered dessert but declined as we were full, but I would definitely return here for an evening meal as well as return for a nice lunch again. Thank you for the attentive professional, amiable service and the delicious food. Well done.

Yelp
The restaurant is really nice and clean, the food overall was okay. It needed salt. The service was not great, our server was extremely pushy and not very hospitable. The restaurant was less than a 1/4th full, it was 2+ hours before close and our server came to the table every 2 minutes to ask us if we were ready to order. After we ate, he refused to split the check and said he could only use two cards to pay. We were a table of 6, everyone only got one cocktail and an entree. As somome who works in hospitality, It would have been incredibly easy to split. When we asked to split it very politely, he said " Not my problem, y'all figure it out and tell me when you're ready". It was so odd and uncomfortable. Would potentially get it again Togo or at the bar.

Yelp
Very good food and nice atmosphere in the old cookhouse restaurant spot. We got a couple appetizers...muscles, meatballs, Caesar, and Brussel sprouts. They were all very good. Great Italian wine selection.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!! We ate the Arancini & Calamari as an appetizer. Both fresh and delicious in flavor. The Cheese Ravioli was very scrumptious. The supremo pizza was delicious! But my favorite was the dessert, the dolcezza was amazing!! And of course Peyton's customer service was fabulous!! The ambience was very calm and welcoming. Overall, I had an awesome experience!!

Yelp
What an amazing find! A+ all around. We were in a bit of a hurry so didn't take any pics. But we agreed that the calamari was the best we'd ever had. Fun cocktails and excellent service. They substituted pineapple juice for grapefruit juice in the Tuscan Smoke. Now there's a winner!!! We'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Friend and I went for dinner and Primo's met all of our expectations! We started with the Burrata as an appetizer and it was absolutely delectable!! Even the bread that accompanies the Burrata was SO good! For drinks, I had a mocktail that I really liked- it was freshly prepared and not overly sweet like some places make their mocktails. Our entrees came out together - I had the ravioli and my friend had a pasta dish that contained sausage - We tasted each others dish and we both loved the food. The were both delicious, the only thing is that my ravioli was not very hot. I'm not sure if it had been sitting for a few minutes before both our dishes were brought to our table- We are still going back to try as many things as possible. Can't wait to experience more of Primo's. And great service! our server was attentive and very nice, offered to split the appetizer on our separate bills.

Jasmine N.

Yelp
Fantastic food! Service was great. We got the Arancini, scallop tagliatelle and the supremo pizza. Sadly they were out of the burrata. But the other 3 items were delicious. Dessert was a must have. The browned butter cake was fantastic as well as the tiramisu.

Yelp
Tried out Primo's for Sunday lunch and had made reservations as it was Father's Day weekend. The inside was well packed but outside dining was plenty. We ordered calamari and the steamed mussels for appetizers and for our main entrees we got the sausage pizza as well as the double pepperoni pizza. Everything's was really good but the star of the show was the steamed mussels. That sauce they were served in was absolutely fabulous! The service was top notch as we were checked on repeatedly and given recommendations on what to try. I plan on going back to try out the rest of the menu. Definitely recommend to put on your list to try!

Yelp
Food & service were amazing. The setting was really nice. Only thing bad I would have to say is that it was hot in there but the food was TRULY SO FREAKING GOOD!

Yelp
The food service and ambiance is just impeccable! Our server Lindsey, was kind and very helpful as she walked us through the menu. My boyfriend and I are quite picky but she made every accommodation happen! We cleaned every single plate because the portion sizes were perfect and the food was delicious. We will be back for brunch!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was fabulous. Started with mocktails then on to appetizers. We got the meatballs and the ricotta focaccia. The meatballs were juicy and flavorful and the focaccia was so soft with high quality olive oil. We then split a pepperoni pizza which had great soft crust. Huge pizza, plenty for two to share. We will be back. Nothing was remotely average. Great service as well.

Yelp
This was one of the best meals I've had in ages. I had the roasted pork porterhouse with mascarpone polenta and shishito pepper relish (enough for two meals). My friends had the cheese ravioli, and we shared the garlic bread knots. I highly recommend this place. Our waiter Alan' was so attentive and friendly. Do I have photos? No, I just couldn't wait to dig in. Added plus was three choices of High Wheel beer and a full bar, including Kinsman Rakia (my favorite). The atmosphere is relaxed, but it's nice enough for a special occasion. I look forward to cooler weather and sitting outside, but the inside was comfortable, unlike many places that are too cold. I'll be back frequently. I can't wait to try them for brunch!

Yelp
why the hell dont u guys put that there's rasins and random brown squares in the french toast on the menu!? i didnt want that shit still tasted pretty good though just a warning wouldve been nice!?

Denise D.

Yelp
The staff at lunch were so welcoming & friendly. We really enjoyed our cocktails. The Tuscan bean soup was delicious as was my pepperoni mushroom pizza. We will return for more pasta.

Yelp
I've been to Primos three times and have never been disappointed. They their food is fantastic! The staff is friendly and attentive.

Yelp
UnGodly high and $5 for tea when I went is so beyond exorbitant! Places like these need to stop popping up if they can't offer food at a reasonable price. Not to mention, you can get a gallon of great tea such as Milo's for less than $4 at Walmart. I hate places that overcharge just because. Charging for simple drinks more than a gallon of gas is the reason these places should stop existing.
