🚇 Peckham Rye 🍺 £5.80 Amstel The Prince of Peckham is located just off bustling Peckham High Street in Southeast London. The nearest station is Peckham Rye on the Windrush Line. This pub was originally called The Clayton Arms, built in 1867, then rebuilt in the 1930’s. The Prince of Peckham came to be in 2017 and is named after Lee ‘The Peckham Prince’ Stanley from the 90’s TV show “Desmonds”. The exterior of the pub is clad in beautiful glazed tiles and the stonework is painted burnt orange. On the right hand wall of the pub is a large mural by @mrcenzone which changes from time to time. This is a good size pub where the decor is traditional at heart with some contemporary touches here and there. The servery is centrally located and is also clad in glazed green tiles like the exterior. To the right of the servery is a hatch that leads to the kitchen. The seating is a mix of traditional tables and chairs, poser tables and comfy Chesterfields. There are some nice features dotted around the bar which add a touch of style to mix with the traditional pub decor. There are four other rooms at the pub which are available for private hire, I had a little peek in to the Terracotta Room which has stunning stained glass windows. There is outside terrace with benches to the left of the pub. The beer selection is all keg with a selection of mainstream brands and some local brews from @brixtonbrewery . I kept it simple and ordered an Amstel, my pint was great, price point was less than average. The food is by @whitemencantjerk who serve up a variety of Jerk Chicken and comfort food dishes, we were feeling peckish, so we thought we try the Jerk Chicken. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, it was flavourful and had a nice kick, £14.95 all in. We arrived around 7pm on warm Saturday evening in July. The pub was absolutely packed with an upbeat, vibrant and lively atmosphere. The punters were a mix of all ages with a 70/30 split of drinkers to diners. The service was friendly, the team member who served us was welcoming and courteous. Peckham has seen numerous pub closures over the years, so it was great to see this pub in full swing and thriving. We loved the vibrant atmosphere, the beer offering was good, the service friendly and we will definitely be back for more Jerk Chicken. We had a delicious Caribbean lunch this Sunday at the Prince of Peckham. We ordered wings, Jerk chicken meals and mac and cheese. My son (10) ordered a Jerk chicken burger that he really enjoyed! We loved the little sauces that came with the meals and the rice and peas was amazing! It had a lovely hint of coconut… really lovely! The staff was very nice too! We will definitely be back!

The food was mediocre maybe I was expecting too much. Proportions were small the rice tasted like it had been warmed up yet the food was lukewarm the coleslaw didn’t have sauce so just tasted like sliced cabbage. The sauces was nice and to be honest I only ate the food because I was hungry and had wasted £16 on it. The happy hour cocktails aren’t great, needs more variety and at least one classic cocktail we all know and love! The atmosphere was nice although some music outside would be appreciated. The staff are lovely, polite and friendly they bring your food out but you have to order at the bar and everytime you order you pay service charge. The security are a bit of eye candy but apart from that I wouldn’t be in a rush to go back.

10/10 atmosphere. Every time I’ve been it’s very lively and staff are really friendly and welcoming. It can be a bit hectic at times but it’s worth it for the food - I want to come back soon!

The service had a touch of chaos; although the waiters were helpful, we weren't informed about ordering at the bar (no table service). The warm atmosphere with loud music may not suit everyone's taste. The food, rich in flavor, especially the oxtail, was delightful. The crispy wings, though undersold on the menu, exceeded expectations, as six were served instead of the stated three – truly wonderful. Highly recommend this Caribbean fusion pub.

Nice pub with plenty going on, just check first that what's happening gels with the mood you're looking for. We went for food and drinks on Sunday evening after a long day decorating. We just needed a chilled evening. However Sunday night is karaoke and although it is advertised as starting at 9pm it actually kicked off at 8, primarily it seemed for a group of women who were sat in front of the screen and in party mood. As soon as we had finished our food we left as it was impossible to hold a conversation over the noise of the karaoke. Shame the pub doesn't stick to it's own timetable.

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, as I’ve heard so many good things and had been looking forward to trying it out. We booked it for my son’s 21st birthday, which made the experience all the more disappointing. 1. Cleanliness and Water Service: When we asked for water, we were offered filtered water instead of bottled or mineral water, which was fine in principle. However, the glasses provided were dirty. After requesting a clean glass and waiting for a while, I went to the bar to check on it and found the water left unattended. Additionally, the water provided was clearly not filtered. 2. Food Availability: When we attempted to order, we were told that burger buns wouldn’t be available until 3 PM due to a large booking upstairs. While this was frustrating, we tried to understand. However, shortly after, another group that arrived at 2:30 PM was served burgers with buns. This inconsistency was disappointing. 3. Kitchen Closure: When we wanted to order more food later, we were told the kitchen was closed because it was too busy. Considering we had booked in advance, this felt unacceptable—especially as walk-ins without reservations were being served around the same time. If they were unable to manage the workload, they shouldn’t have accepted more bookings or walk-ins. 4. Hygiene: The toilets had no soap, which is concerning for a restaurant/pub where people eat with their hands. We informed the staff, but nothing was done. Basic hygiene should be a top priority. 5. Staff Attitude: Some staff members were outright rude and dismissive, which made the entire experience worse. As someone who has worked as a waitress, I understand the challenges of the job, but the lack of professionalism and courtesy was shocking. I had high expectations for this place, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to its reputation. The service, hygiene, and overall experience were a massive letdown, especially for such a special occasion.

Third time buying and this time a takeaway. Food packaged well. Nice staff. Never been outside and chilled but people are always laughing or talking, with good vibes of music in the background. Good vibes when you walk inside. If you're looking for a local spot to hang out in the day, a good place to go with good food and vibes. Not sure about the nightlife, never been but heard it turns into a bar/club on Fridays and Saturdays. This time I ordered rice and peas and jerk chicken with sauce, and coleslaw and the chef put in a little gift and the surprise was sticky honey wings, which I have become a fan of. Thank you again.

The food was decent, music and ambiance was cool;' the service with a few waiters was cool and service with a couple of them was simply trash. They definitely need some professional development on how to deal with the patrons properly. Also, if they know that the bar gets busy around certain times, develop a system. We placed an order with our waitress, and she was simply missing for about 40 mins. We kept looking around like where's our drinks? I finally asked and they said she went on break. Ummmm... you want to let someone know, including the tables you're waiting on? Rude and unprofessional. Nonetheless, the DJ was pretty fun and kept things moving along. Now let's discuss the female bathroom. Just GROSS. I immediately felt the need to bathe after using the restroom here. They need a complete overhaul. It smelled like mildew and was unclean; no nice way to put it. Get that together. The worst thing ever is to use a grubby bathroom at a restaurant and have to return to your table and eat. Yuck. The restroom should be just that-- a REST ROOM. A place to go recover and feel better and more fresh. That was not the case at all. On a positive, the place had great music and flavor. They just need some professional development meetings, perhaps some wisdom or more mature oversight along with a major bathroom upgrade, immediately. Happy restaurant hopping!!

London's best 2 in 1. I was across the pond for business and was looking for a place to relax, eat and also hear some good music. That's not a small task, especially if one of those is severely lacking. Prince of Peckman delivers with some of the best wings I've ever had. The honey garlic wings were superb! I wanted to order more food, but they were whole wings so I was just fine with that. The customer service is lacking, mostly due to staffing and the amount of people this place attracts. The servers take your order and If you sit outside like I did, they just try and come find you. It's pretty chaotic, everyone was nice and professional but they need a better system. So I got the food and relaxing patio I was looking for, the last piece of the puzzle was some good music. Never fear, the Prince turns into a club after 10pm. They play a variety of genres, with smooth transitions all night. I left around 1am, but this place was still going strong at that point. Pro tip: Get there at 9pm and eat and enjoy yourself, when the place turns into a full blown night club you don't have to pay for entry. There is a re entry fee and a lonnnnng line to wait if you do decide to leave and come back after 10pm.

Prince of Peckham is such an amazing spot. It's Black Owned and that was enough for me to stop and support ! I don't know which was better the food or the vibe!? I came on a Thursday night which was such a perfect day. It was well attended but not overwhelmingly packed. This particular Thursday was R&B Thursday and TALK ABOUT A VIBE! The music was great, the drinks were flowing, and the dance floor was burning. The DJ really set us up for a great and fun night! In addition to the smooth vibe and the tasty drinks (try the daiquiri) the food was the BEST JERK! The chicken was well seasoned and literally fell off the bone. The cabbage was cooked to the perfect texture and the rice and peas tied the meal together! I highly recommend stopping by Prince of Peckham and prepare for a perfect night of vibes, friendly Black faces, and amazing amazing food!

Place closed the door and told us to leave after we already bought a ticket to get in.

My mother and I decided to support more businesses of color during our most recent visit to London. We came all the way from the US for this place. The food was ON POINT! Good chicken. All flavor and not too hot. Crazy dope atmosphere and staff. Worth the trip to Peckham. I'll definitely be back when I'm in London again.
