"Princi is an Italian bakery inside the Starbucks Reserve Roastery, and it’s the first location of an Italian chain. The square-shaped focaccia pizzas here are great, whether you go for a margherita or a potato-and-pancetta slice. Pairing pizza with a cold brew lemon whiskey cocktail from the Roastery might not sound all that appealing at first, but it’s actually quite good, and a compelling enough reason for us to step inside the coffee-filled chaos that is Starbucks Reserve." - Aimee Rizzo

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I honestly think I’m being a bit generous giving it an overall three stars. The service and atmosphere were fine. No complaints, but nothing special. The prices were high, but that was to be expected as my husband and I wanted to go to a nice restaurant for Valentine’s Day. The problem was, it was expensive for food that just wasn’t good. Extremely bland. It’s hard to mess up a Caesar salad and somehow they still did. A few strips of romaine hearts covered in dressing with some parm sprinkled on top. Definitely not worth $13. We hoped it wasn’t going to be telling of our main courses, but they were unfortunately flavorless as well. They looked pretty, but for a $36 entree the portions were small, which again would’ve been fine if it had just been tasty. I took mine home and added my own sauce and seasonings, much better.

My wife and I dropped by a Monday night for dinner. We did not have a reservation, but the hostess managed to get us a table anyway. The place was nicely decorated for Christmas and nice music was playing in the background. Well, I write nice music… it was … most of the times. Some times techno/house music was played, and that definitely seemed out of place. Right after we sat down, our waitress, Melissa, greeted us. She turned out to be the most caring, cozy, professional and attentive waitress we have met for a long time. She went above and beyond in kindness and service - really made our evening perfect - just as if we were visiting someone in their own home. Kudos. Thank you. The restaurant has a nice menu selection and an interesting wide selection of wines. They also carry soft drinks, cocktails and waters. Melissa told us about the daily special and answered all our questions we had about sone courses. We ordered the bread to share - with the most wonderful garlic/parmesan/chili pepper oil. For mains we ordered the daily special: veal ragout and we ordered the halibut. The dishes were VERY tasty - as if they had been made from scratch of fresh ingredients. Overall we had an excellent experience. One should definitely visit this place. We’ll drop back in next time we are near.

Food was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed every bite. The pizza sauce was great! I got to try a bit of my sisters dish with the vodka sauce and that pasta was so good as well. The Christmas dessert mousse cake was an incredible finisher to a great meal. Only thing I didn’t like was the garlic flat bread. Kinda bland.

Google
Service was pretty alright, but the food was just mediocre. I ordered the penne arrabiatta and it was bland aside from the taste of plain red pepper flakes. Our garlic flatbread appetizer was quite bland as well. I would rather get pie tap any day.

I’ll preface with this place being a bit more expensive than normal. I think my dish at $16 was the cheapest thing that wasn’t an appetizer. A large amount of the menu ranged from $25-45 for an entree. Just something to keep in mind I guess, as this is a bit higher than our normal Italian date night locations. We got the garlic flatbread to share. Average, a bit too much rosemary but warm bread is always good. We think Pie Tap has a better version of this if you’re ever interested. I got the basic marinara pasta with a beef meatball. I enjoyed this dish! Sauce was pretty good and meatball was lovely, but perhaps not worth the extra $4. Bf got a spicy penne dish and was not impressed for the price. He said it was watery tomato with some red pepper flavor. Not offensive, he said, but not worth what we paid. It should be noted also that the first time they brought our check it was for a different table, so if I hadn’t been checking the price and contents we would’ve paid for the wrong food. Our appetizer also almost got given to a different table. Overall, we place this in the middle of our tierlist of Italian places around. We’ve definitely had worse, but we’ve also had better.

We had a great time at Princi Italia. We came in at 7 pm on a Saturday during the dinner rush with no reservations but a man I think was the manager did his best to get us a table. The waitress that served us was fantastic, funny and super friendly. We had just spent 12 hours at the hospital so it was great to be treated warmly. The food was awesome too, very nice and trendy spot.

Google
Great Italian restaurant to enjoy a weekend date night or family dinner. The food is always good. We love how they are generous with the portions and it always comes out smelling delicious. Bolognese sauce is on point and not heavy on the salt as most restaurants serves it. They offer a good selection of wines to pair with your food so do get yourself a glass. Pasta cooked perfectly and every dish we had so far flavored really good.

This was our first visit to Princi Italia. The weather was nice so we sat on the lovely patio. We ordered the charcuterie board for an appetizer. The charcuterie board was excellent; prosciutto, sopressata, capitola, aged provolone and taleggio cheese, roasted peppers, Sicilian olives, and peasant toast. The toast was so good we decided to continue with bread and ordered pizzas for our entrees. I ordered the fig and Gorgonzola pizza with arugula, prosciutto, shaved Parmesan and fontina cheese, balsamic reductions, and extra virgin olive oil drilled on top. Exquisite! I highly recommend this flavorful pizza. My husband ordered the Italian Sausage pizza with roasted peppers, cremini mushrooms, goat cheese, San Mariano pizza sauce, oregano, and basil leaves. He loved it. We visited Princi Italia because the restaurant participated in the 2024 Taste of Plano in March benefitting the Hendrick Scholarship Foundation. We like to patronize local businesses that give back to the community. We highly recommend Princi Italia for a delightful meal. We also want to give a shout out to our waiter, Gerald, who was an absolute delight and really made our visit exceptional.

Yelp
The restaurant is conveniently located next to the movie theater. We went to see a family film and needed something quick and easy. We had a beautiful margarita pizza, while the kids enjoyed their own pizzas, which were actual pizzas and not pre-frozen ones. I was very impressed by that. I wish we hadn't been in such a rush, as it would make for a great date night in the future. The chicken tenders were fantastic; they were actually chicken Parmesan cutlets that had been cut into strips, and they were delicious. Melissa, our server, was very friendly and kind.

Yelp
While this place is beautiful on the inside with a decent wine list, this is NOT a good place to go to if you are looking to enjoy food. Bad #1 - I got severe food poisoning after coming here which is wild considering how the taste here was mostly mediocre. Bad #2 - Hidden charges that you aren't told about. Their Tartufo pizza is subpar but I was blindsided by a $14 additional surcharge. I went with the "recommendations" and I wasn't even aware that that meant extra ingredients aka extra money. At least tell us that the recommendations are a la carte! I don't mind paying extra but that's so slimy to do that to a customer. If you still want to get a spot here, I recommend using an app to book a reservation. Service is only fast if you order everything at once sitting down. The calamari is good.

Emely M.

Yelp
The appetizers at least the ones we had are very small. The salads are bland hardly any dressing or flavor. The entree was flavorful and a decent size we have the crusted chicken. The ambiance is nice and the very clean. The service was not so great the server was very condescending and agitated every time we asked for something or wanted to order something. Personally wouldn't go back for the price it's a little overpriced for the lack of flavor in the food and service.

Alfonso M.

Yelp
Ordered the Romano crusted chicken, chicken is crispy and the linguini is al dente. Great service from staff. The place is nicely lit and you can have a great conversation.

Liza K.

Yelp
Celebrated a friends birthday at Princi on the patio with delicious cocktails and delicious food. I enjoyed the chicken Romano with pasta. They do offer gluten-free options which my friend chose. We also enjoyed a delicious tiramisu dessert. Service was wonderful will be back.

Beryl D.

Yelp
The restaurant and staff were very accommodating and they offer bottomless mimosas for $12 for Brunch! I'm docking a star because our server had too many tables to adequately tend to ours. Additionally, the chicken and waffles is not advertised as a sandwich. Definitely a turn off when served. The lemon sole piccata was good, but it would benefit from more sauce.

Abhijit R.

Yelp
Visited the Plano location over the weekend. Service by José and ambiance was great, but the food left a bit to be desired. Looks they had a decent wine collection. Did not have the Sangiovese that I had picked, but ended up with Jose recommended Montepulciano d'abruzzo, which was nice. We had a variety of dishes. Amongst the better ones were the Grilled salmon w/pea saffron risotto and my fav, Apple Crostata. The rest of the dishes lacked flavor. I was expecting the spicy Penne Arrabbiata to be very spicy, but it was quite bland. We also had the Fig and Gorgonzola Bruschetta which was decent with blue cheese sprinkled, but other than that the rest of the food seemed meh. We were told that the kitchen was backed up due to being short staffed, but honestly did not see any delays in the service. The manager checked up on us as well. In the fence whether I'll try this place again.

Tanya J.

Yelp
Great food and location! There fish dishes are always my go to! Recommend for lunch or dinner!

Frank S.

Yelp
Very poor service. We have crossed this one off the list. We made reservations on OpenTable and indicated that we were coming for a birthday. When we arrived they told us the table wasn't ready. We reminded the hostess that we are here for a birthday, please put a desert on the tab and have it delivered after dinner. So we go sit at the bar. Here we find one bartender working the entire restaurant. He never acknowledges us, never asks us if we would like anything to drink. 45 minutes later we get called for a table. They put us in the back corner of the restaurant with a lovely view of wine boxes and a ladder (see photo). We ask for another table, they said "no, this is your table". Then it took 30 min for the waiter to take the orders He never returns to refill waters and at the end of the meal failed to deliver the desert. So sad, we used to love this place. There are too many other restaurants providing good service. We will never be back.

John T.

Yelp
The wait was kinda crazy. It is Christmas Eve so it was expected but after we got seated we waited 20 minutes for waters. The food also wasn't worth it. The truffle mac and cheese had little flavor. Our server was great tho

Billy F.

Yelp
Menu selection is lacking and kitchen is inconsistent. However, it is their high prices that simply doesn't match the so-so quality of food and service that is the most troubling.

D lee C.

Yelp
Great hide away with a great following. Orders are presented with and Jason,at the bar is great.

Stephanie O.

Yelp
Food is very good. Not exactly Italian but more of an Italian flare to some fresh food. Service was great. No complaints Ambience- we went for brunch, so it was very well decorated but not too stuffy. Very comfortable

Susan L.

Yelp
We just had an amazing dinner.. The calamari were so well prepared, the MLP pizza was so good & the Caccio y Pepe out of this world with the crab meat! Melissa, our waiter, was so adorable and always checking-in to ensure our dining experience was the best! Thank you for an enjoyable experience on a chili cold night!

Amiee B.

Yelp
Great taste in food.. pizza was delicious Probably won't be dining in anymore, only ordering to take out if we ever come back... Service was a bit weird. They didn't treat us equally as the other customers. We waited at the door for a good 10mins to be seated. Then we ordered right away, after we ate we had to wait a very long time to be asked if everything was okay, and even ask for a box & the check. While the other table was getting plenty of customer service.... Not cool. But totally understandable if they are under staff... treat everyone the same no matter what age we look like..

Ebony W.

Yelp
This place was very interesting. The food was excellent, the ambiance was relaxing and the service was great. Definitely going back!

Lam B.

Yelp
The atmosphere was really nice and had an upscale look to it. However, I wasn't too impressed with the service nor food. We ordered a bottle of wine and the server excused herself and placed the bottle on our table so she could open it. She continued to struggle so I ended up opening it for her. As she poured the two glasses, she spilled wine on the table. She was done with her shift so we closed out but she wasn't very progressional as she untucked her shirt while cleaning up her other tables. The Fig and Goat Cheese Bruschetta was really good though I don't care for goat cheese. I believe a jam accompanied it so it nulled the pungent cheese taste. I ordered the Osso Buco and it wasn't all that tender. It was tough to cut through the meat with my butter knife. The risotto was decent. My friend said her pizza was delicious so she took the rest home.

Ryan H.

Yelp
The bolognese is so great! The waiter told me the chef adds nutmeg to the sauce! Great little Italian spot.

Isaac R.

Yelp
Food was great, nice place to sit and relax and have a good meal. Pasta was great and the Pizza was A+.

Deanne B.

Yelp
Excellent as always. The veal chop parm is five star. We have been going here for years and love the atmosphere and the excellent service !

Melinda S.

Yelp
So very, very disappointed in this restaurant and it's server. I have been there multiple times and had lovely dishes and good service but tonight I was so angry when I left ... my friend and I had a great meal we had started with a cocktail and then I asked for a glass of white wine. The server said American and I said yes when I got my bill my American Chardonnay was $22. I was floored and angry and I'll never come back. Took really bad advantage of me. Complained to the man at the front door but was brushed off. This is not what customer service is about. Shame on you!

Claire W.

Yelp
I've ordered takeout and dined in a few times, and after my last experience dining at the restaurant, I will not be back. One of the dishes I liked to order was the Romano crusted chicken (via takeout and dine in), but I've found that it's very inconsistent. The most recent times I've ordered it, it has not been crispy and that has been very disappointing because the first time I had it it was uber delicious. The mussels are good and the calamari is hit or miss; sometimes the breading sticks, sometimes it falls off. The last time I dined in was Mother's Day and maybe it was too busy for them to handle because the serving sizes were so small. I ordered a special Seabass and it was a 4" x 4" piece of fish with two broccolinis, the Romano chicken was served with a tiny fist size of pasta, not enough to eat with the chicken. The inside of the restaurant is semi fancy and it can accommodate groups. Bottom line: the food is inconsistent and I would not go on a holiday because your portions may be small.

Carrigan R.

Yelp
The service and ambiance was great. It was a little loud in the restaurant, however it was a Friday night and pretty busy so it makes sense to be a little loud. Our waitress was very enthusiastic, and she did not forget anything at all even though she was super busy. The food however was underwhelming. My husband's Veal special (for Friday nights) was very tender however he said it did not taste good whatsoever. My fig and prosciutto pizza look amazing, but the taste was ....... Lacking. I could only eat one piece. My mother's seafood (lobster, mussels, crab, clams) linguine (we can't remember the name of it) was "not very tasty" (in her words). She only had a few bites of the dish. My mother's limoncello drink was one of the better things she had that night. It was well presented and well balanced. We had the tortellini and the calamari appetizers which the calamari was really good but the tortellini was average. The bread the tortellini was served with was better than the tortellini itself. My husband ordered an espresso (not pictured), and I ordered a cappuccino. Both drinks tasted a bit burned unfortunately. Again, we enjoyed our server, just not the food unfortunately.

Sandee V.

Yelp
Great dinner! Loved the food and wine! First visit! Will be back next time in Plano!

Sara M.

Yelp
Had a nice meal on Christmas Eve. They were right on time with our reservation. Service was nice and the cocktails and food was yummy! Only thing is pretty small portions considering the prices. No bread or salad/soup included.

R K.

Yelp
Absolutely best Italian restaurant authentic and great tasting dishes. Attentive service and great wine and menu selections. I'm a regular never disappointed.

Finance G.

Yelp
They barely give you any pasta even NOW with the short rib. For 35 bucks? Plus tax plus delivery. It's usually filled up. It's like a joke NOW. Never again. I'm starving and barely eaten all day long. But this is the day you pick to short change me?

Honey B.

Yelp
The restaurant on their patio is dog friendly. Unfortunately the waiters aren't . Went to dinner with my dog ask the waiter several times for water , said he didn't have a bowl and ask another server and he came back with the plastic bowl of water . The original waiter never came back to check on us we finally request a different waiter . And he was really nice and dog friendly. I recommend the restaurant but I don't recommend the waiter. He was unprofessional. Will not come back here again, unless his fired !

Amanda R.

Yelp
We celebrated my friend's bday here last Saturday. The restaurant is such a cute place that I didn't know existed. I really like their bar setup. It is definitely a great place for date night. We grabbed a few drinks while waiting for our table. Our waitress was polite and friendly. The calamari was REALLY good. My boyfriend and I shared a pepperoni pizza with mushrooms on it. It was delicious. We had no leftovers to take home. We split a bottle of wine which was the most expensive part of our meal, but that was to be expected. I definitely want to come back here and try other things on their menu!

Anastasia K.

Yelp
I would give this place 0 stars if I could. We made a reservation for Dallas Restaurant Week and once we got there, we stood around waiting to be seated for about 5 minutes (note: people who came in after us were immediately sat, whether they had a reservation or not). Once we were sat (at the very back of the restaurant where no one else was sitting) and given our menus, the waitress filled our water cups halfway and then... nothing. We waited for 15 minutes for anyone to come back to us to take our drink orders or any orders at all, but we were completely forgotten about. We watched as other people were sat, their orders taken, etc, before we decided to leave because we were tired of being neglected. Afterwards we walked into Kona Grill nearby and we were given AMAZING service. Please go there instead of Princi Italia!

Barbara W.

Yelp
We went here after receiving a gift card from a friend. Here are my takes on the restaurant: 1) This location has a really nice atmosphere. It's just got a good "upscale bistro" vibe that makes it a great neighborhood place for a date night or celebration. 2) Service was good. 3) The food has some really nice dishes, but their execution is spotty. My son's pasta was undercooked, and after him eating 3 bites and asking me if there was something wrong, I tasted it. When we brought it to the waiter's attention, we were brought a half portion of the entree. Essentially, they subtracted the overly chewy (3-4 min before al dente) pasta that he attempted to eat plus a bit and gave us 1/2 of a properly prepared entree. All I can say is that is a bit insulting. It implies we either were trying to get something extra for free or they're just too cheap to make right on a bad dish. I assume the food will be good when I go to a restaurant. Before I will even think about going back, they've minimally got to get the food right. We may try again to see if it was an anomaly.

D H.

Yelp
Would not recommend this restaurant. Poor service and the food is mediocre at best. Ambiance is good but that's about it. We had two bad experiences in a row....should have not given them a second chance. Overpriced too....pizza and Caesar salad was $40. I'm trying Dough Boys next time!

Lauren H.

Yelp
The food was pretty good and the service was excellent. Very good prices! Perfect spot for lunch. My only reason for removing one star is that the patio door was left open and we were literally being swarmed by flies the entire time we were there. Yes, we sat inside.

Krista Y.

Yelp
Cute place! We had reservations and got seated right away. The food, drinks and service were all excellent.

Daniela T.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a quiet and peaceful date. The Orecchiette Pasta Dinner was superb and filling. The Italian sausage does make the plate a bit salty and thankfully the server was able to get me a new plate fit to my liking. My partner ordered the Romano Crusted Chicken Dinner Plate and I could not resist a bite of his plate! Absolutely mouthwatering. Paired it off with some wine and it was perfect! Love the setting and I appreciated the staff being nice and accommodating.

Carlos F.

Yelp
No doubt, the Princi Italia's restaurant is one of the best in Dallas, everything Meg, furnace crash meatballs, Bolognese homemade pasta's import cure meats, one of the best age prosciutto Princi Italia' production is make every day fresh, including includinhomemade pasta location in Plano at $3300 Dallas Parkway, Plano, TX

Mp S.

Yelp
For a place that serves Italian cuisines, this place leaves a lot to be desired. No baked bread for the table..... we got served cold (from the fridge) cinnamon nut bread with butter. Half the stuff on the yelp photos is not even on the menu. Very limited choices for lunch. If you want pizza....go to a pizza place.... If you want Italian..... go find a proper Italian place. Got served appetizers.... But no plates.... Sat there staring at it until plates arrived. So far... pretty unorganized and poor service. Lasagna was cut from a pan and reheated. Center was barely warm. Very stiff lasagna that is far from authentic Italian. Penne and marinara was just that... boiled penne and marinara from the can or bottle. This place should hire a pro Italian chef and make REAL Italian food instead of heating stuff that tastes like it was bought from Costco or Sam's. Your better off just boiling pasta at home and buying a bottle of marinar

K G.

Yelp
Well, the weather is nice and we enjoyed the patio. The lasagna is awesome. The patio is adorable at night backing up to fountains and some twinkle lights in the trees. Initially the service was slow but the server made up for it by pitching in to help her coworker. Overall a very pleasant experience -I will be back.

Pam G.

Yelp
I ordered the branzini at the waiter's recommendation because I don't eat flour and he said it wasn't breaded. I also said to please make it low oil. My husband got the same thing. After a long wait, it came breaded and greasy. He took my food back to remake it. It took another long wait. So eventually I urged my husband to eat his meal. He was done when my food came. The waiter apologized but that was the extent of it. Food was oily and salty. Not a healthy meal for me. No offer to give us a coffee on the house. No courtesy of any kind was given on the bill. Just a bad experience with an apology and an excuse. We'd also ordered a simple pasta to go. The bill was very pricey. It was not worth it. (Ambiance is about all they have going and it's basically a lot of decorative lights.) I'm actually feeling physically ill as I write this and like I shouldn't have eaten there.

Ted S.

Yelp
Our first time to try Princi Italia. Cocktails and flatbread got us off to a great start. Each of our four entrees were excellent. Desserts were over the top to finish off a great evening. These folks will be added to our regular routine.

Kylie C.

Yelp
I'm so disappointed in Princi. We came after church on Easter not knowing that they had a special fixed menu... unfortunately the menu was full of brunch items that weren't even Italian. It took a very long time for our food to come out to us as the kitchen was very backed up. By the time our food made it out, it was cold and lacked flavor. I wish we would've went anywhere else... we weren't the only table with these issues. Save your time and dine elsewhere.

Kaye C.

Yelp
This place has the most authentic carbonara that I have had since we were in Italy! The pricing is a little high-we spent about $125 for 5 people for dinner, but for a nice restaurant that's average. We have had several different waiters and they are all awkward in their own way, but professional and the food comes out quickly. It's a nice place for a family dinner or for a date. There is also a full bar.

Ryan N.

Yelp
The wife and I had a wonderful date night here out on the patio! We had the following items: Orecchiette (5/5 rating): housemade italian sausage, rapini, chili flakes, parm. Spaghetti Bolognese (5/5 rating): classic bolognese, reggiano parmigiano. Both pastas were al dente - tender and firm. The italian sausage in the Orecchiette was flavorful and just the right amount of spicy. The bolognese had plenty of meat and the sauce tasted freshly made. I ordered two whiskey-based cocktails, and I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of the cocktail menu, and I couldn't find it on their website either. But I rate the both of them as 4/5. I like a stiff drink and both had good flavor but tasted mild to me. The wife tried two of the red wines and she enjoyed both of them. We definitely see ourselves coming back in the future for more date nights here!

Carolyn S.

Yelp
The lasagna was phenomenal!! I've Never been to an Italian restaurant that didn't serve bread ???? Oh well!! Helped me keep my calories down

Shubha S.

Yelp
We enjoyed our evening here with good service and decent food. Their Happy Hour is great with lots of drink and food specials! Our cocktails were well made. The fig and goat cheese bruschetta was loaded with figs. Another appetizer we got was grilled cheese bites which were okay, nothing impressive. The halibut was good but the side of spinch it came with was pretty bland, tasted like it was just wilted. Cheese ravioli on the other hand was delicious. The house salad was just ok too...for the price, I expected a better dressing and better composed salad. Overall, a nice place with good ambiance and service.

Edna A.

Yelp
Our first time here with one of my friends and we loved our experience. Food was delicious. Atmosphere was perfect and the service was excellent! I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're craving pasta!!!

Melissa B.

Yelp
Food is authentic amazing , yummy managers are the best pace is so fast friendly clean best appetizers tortilni and rosemary garlic flatbread yummy

Kaci A.

Yelp
Two stars for the service and Tiramisu I had. Food was mediocre, and management needs to get it together. Bartender dropped a wine glass where the pick up window for tables cocktails was. The glass was on the floor for about 30 minutes while people around the Bar were stepping on it and you could hear it under their shoes as they walked by. Bartender went under the counter and cut his finger on the glass. When he returned he had limes in the same hand that was bleeding! What the heck!? When I finally mentioned the glass to the waitress a young guy came by with a mop and basically mopped all the glass under one of the bar racks. They were very busy but that doesn't mean you toss aside TABC and FHL laws for your own convenience. What's sad is I'm 99% sure management knew what was happening but I'm sure he would never admit it. If this is what they allow in Front of House I can't imagine what they do in the Back Of House.

Leena J.

Yelp
Update! Round two was a success. I am happy to say that everything was delicious, hot, fresh, cooked and served so well! We loved our appetizers, main courses and even dessert was the bestt grand finale! Such a better experience! Thankful for a great evening! Wonderful-friendly people and great food! Love!
