The Best Sandwiches For A Park Picnic - New York - The Infatuation

"Usually, we prefer our bánh mì with as many types of meat as possible. But we’ll make an exception for the veggie bánh mì at Winner in Park Slope. It’s absolutely stacked with all the usual fixings, but what sets it apart is the creamy—dare we say meaty?—mushroom pâté smeared onto the homemade hoagie., and fried onions on top. Their actually-meaty sandwiches are good too, and we always snag a baked good for dessert." - willa moore, will hartman, bryan kim, sonal shah

Very nice park with great walking trails. The views were also amazing. It paths do go down hill or up hill, so just be advised. My kids love exploring the pathways. They said it felt like a secret garden.

We decided to Ride around Redlands today and came to prospect Park unloaded our bikes rode around the park and like always very nice scenery and people all over taking pictures for their events, great place for nice pictures and restrooms and available.

Google
This park is such a peaceful place with scenic walking trails that are perfect for a relaxing stroll or light hike. The views along the way are absolutely beautiful. Just a heads-up, the paths can get a bit steep in spots, both uphill and downhill. My kids had a blast weaving through the trails. They said it felt like stepping into a secret garden right in the middle of the city.

We dint walk far but it was very pretty and quiet and comforting there. There was a good amount of parking and plenty of benches and a few tables. Beautiful place to take pictures. There was a young girl getting her quinceanera pictures there. It was gorgeous. There is the bamboo forest which is cool. Right outside the park is that red, large fork in the road w a little tomato or orange man sitting on the ledge, that was cute.

Google
The park is nice. Has an amphitheater and an orange grove in the area well shaded. Walkways and benches, the park is very well maintained. I would give it a five-star, but the parking is limited, only reason I give it a 4 star. It's very nice for people who love to walk and enjoy the greenery.

Google
Prospect Park is located up on a hill, but you can park on the street level as well and walk up using one of the paths. This park has stunning views overlooking Redlands and then some! There are plenty of benches to choose from, as well as a nice little grass area next to the Cottage House on the top. There is a nice public restroom for your convenience, and they have a few dog stations available. BE ADVISED: This park is notoriously busy with photoshoots, and once you see it for yourself, you will understand why. Be sure to bring a jacket if you run cold, for it is at a high elevation.

Google
It's so beautiful and peaceful. 10/10 Love that's dog friendly. The picnic are It's also beautiful 🫶🏼 The trails and the beautiful castle 🏰 made it even better. Little girls would love it dressed as a princess 👸 and 15 añeras .

Google
Super cool park with a spooky vibe, been coming here forever and now it’s finally getting the attention it deserves! It’s gotten way more popular lately, so fingers crossed the influencer crowd keeps it chill. Still one of the best low-key spots for a fun date night.

Yelp
Our Sunday walk at Prospect Park was great! We chose it as the place when we visited Redlands. There were a lot of different people that were young, old, kids, and dogs everywhere. I loved how lively it felt as we walked around the entire park for an hour, which is about 2 rounds around the park for us. Even though it was busy, some areas were quiet, with people taking photos and happy dogs enjoying themselves. And guess what? The restrooms were sparkling clean because restrooms at public parks are usually gross but this was well maintained and I have no complaints.
google avatar

KimberLee M.

Yelp
Beautiful park with such a variety of scenery. Park benches have great look out views all the way from Redlands to the local mountains. The outdoor theater there has live summer performances. Nice public restrooms. There's a small lawn area there for doing yoga or having a picnic on a blanket. Get lost in the bamboo groves. It's just a really nice park. Not a park with playground equipment or swings-there's none of that at Prospect. More of a nature park. Good for sunrises and sunsets. Very scenic. Romantic. Always seems like someone is there doing a photo shoot for graduation or a wedding etc.

Yelp
Loved all the different areas we could take pictures. Parked at the cottage and had a bathroom close by. @heathercobbphotography https://www.instagram.com/heathercobbphotography?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Yelp
This is one of my favorite parks in Redlands! It's a great park to take a nice beautiful walk in, get some good views of the city, do photoshoots, picnic, or watch a local theater show in the summer. I live in the neighborhood and this parking is super popular, especially when the weather is nice. I always see a ton of photography going on and its because there are so many different beautiful spots all over. In the spring and summer there are fun events like live music or a local summer theater show in the amphitheater. It's not all a flat surface so its a wonderful walking trail and the view spots near the top are spectacular of the city and the orange groves. There are picnic spots on the side closer to cajon street and thats also a great place to park too. On the other side of the park is historic Kimberly Crest which has certain visitation hours and is another cool place to check out. It's definitely worth checking out for its beauty and environment. :)

Yelp
What a beautiful park! We passed by it on the way to Kimberly Crest and had to stop on the way back. They have rows and rows full of orange trees with plentiful fruit. Handpicking is forbidden! This place helped me imagined Redlands and California at the beginning of the 20th century full of orchids and orange groves everywhere! I loved walking around here, what a great idea, the groves are part of Redland's history. For me, having the privilege of walking around trees full of fruit is a feeling hard to describe. Dream like. Prospect Park is a dream of a park!

Yelp
My wife and I love Prospect Park! It's always a go to for us when we want to enjoy Mother Nature and unwind. We have taken several photos here from big life moments over the past handful of years. We have taken engagement photos, and most recently our first babies pregnancy announcement. There are serene trails on the property that lead to beautiful views and shaded areas where it's nice to catch a sunset or read a book and relax. Definitely a recommended location to spend some quality time with your family and loved one's

Yelp
Went here to take my quince photos and oh ehm gee this park was gorgeous the nature and atmosphere is so nice

Yelp
This park is cool, I brought my son here to ride bikes and play on a playground; however we didn't realize they didn't have one haha. Nonetheless it was still fun a scenic for us to ride around our bicycles and have a small lunch there. We enjoyed our time, very clean and we felt safe. Wish we took pictures but we were so caught up riding around all afternoon.

Yelp
The food was great! I ate inside and the meal was very comfortable. How ever maybe a jazz music background instead of "I'll sex you up" songs Food and service outstanding!

Yelp
Nice hidden park & mini paths both dirt & paved. It's the perfect place to go in the summer because it's has lots of shaded spots. Picnic/bench areas throughout & picturesque opportunities for newlyweds, groups/families & special occasions. An outdoor amphitheater that has festivals when life goes back to normal I suppose and the orange groves, let's not forget those:) And last, but not least, you have a few areas with views of the mountains to enjoy. A gem in the neighboring community of Redlands & nearby cities. I don't know honestly if it'd be worth the drive long distance unless you have family/friends or business out this way. Then it's definitely a treat.

Yelp
Prospect is a beautiful park that is great for pictures or picnics. Prospect Park is a place that hold so many great memories from circus and childhood for me.

Yelp
I finally checked out this park. I arrived just after 4PM on a Tuesday. I didn't see a parking lot so I parked along Cajon Street. Signs said park is opened from 5 AM-9PM. As I got out of my car I noticed 5 hipsters taking oranges and eating them in their trunk of their car. There are large signs everywhere that say picking is prohibited. It left a pit in my stomach knowing my car was so close to theirs. I don't trust people who break the rules. I walked up the paved road and saw lots of couples hogging the benches and lots of people doing photography. They like to stay in one spot for awhile by the colorful trees. I waited a long time. I get agitated because going to park to relax isn't so relaxing anymore. The park is nice but it was really hard to enjoy myself with screaming kids. Perhaps I can visit another time that isn't so busy.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I's FAVORITE PARK in the IE. We love coming here on Saturday mornings to get our bodies moving before "attacking the day," as he says. I am always blown away by all of the beautiful and countless views. Somehow each time we come, we discover a new little path. Aside from it being a nice place to get your steps in, it's also a hidden gem for photography shoots! We've seen people taking graduation and wedding photos here. But, the park is big enough where the sessions don't feel intrusive or bothersome. The area is surrounded by beautiful, historic homes and is even right next to Kimberley Crest mansion which my bf mentioned is a popular place for outside ceremonies and weddings. To my surprise, Prospect Park also seems to host the Redlands Theatre Festival (except maybe this year due to COVID-19) which I LOVE!! Being a theatre goer myself, I can't wait to be back to watch a production. Definitely pay a visit if you're ever in the Redlands area!

Yelp
A great little community park! Its a walking park, versus the playground type park. The orange orchards act as a super green buffer to the two adjacent busy streets. The super wide walkway to the center of the park, is well worth the short walk for the vista of the valley looking towards San Bernardino. This is a good place for walking and reflecting. The Redlands City staff keeps the restrooms and grounds very tidy. Good job staff! There is a volunteer organization that helps with maintenance, as well. They, too, have done an excellent job over the years. Parking can be a bit hectic on the weekends.

Yelp
Came here to run, It's NOT good for running- it's nice for a walk. I thought there'd be some kind of long loop path around the park that i could just do laps on but the park is made up of a bunch of short interlocking paths which are packed with lots of unmasked ppl doing photo shoots so you can't run without frequently stopping bc you risk ruining someone's photo. (I did go on a Saturday and it's December so it's high peak time for photoshoots). That being said, it's gorgeous and that's why people are taking their photos there. For people looking to run, I'd recommend the neighborhoods around the park. I ended up doing a 7 mile run in the neighborhood. The neighborhood is really nice, the homes have a lot of character, and there's nice long paths/sidewalks.

Yelp
One of the most beautiful parks in California, this park is an absolute enchantment and sits right next to Kimberly crest... a very easy walk to go and see their museum and all it's got to offer. The neighborhood is lovely for a walk and the park itself hold a beautiful long walk toward a rose garden and bamboo trails ... there's a outdoor theater at the park for plays, it was a wonderful adventure to explore with my children age 3&6.... There is no playground but this park kept my kids exploring and wandering.... For about 4hrs ... there is also a trail w a stream running through and bridges to walk over... very wonderful enchanting park... don't forget to pick some oranges they taste great too!
google avatar

Iwona A.

Yelp
The trees are years old so they provide great shade on a hot day. Plenty of different tree types to see like orange trees, magnolia trees, etc. The Kimberly crest mansion is also here and you can get a tour (appointment-based and fee-based). If you're don't feel like walking, you can also take a tram to the top. Great views and places for picnicking.

Yelp
In 1975 when I met my husband at 19 yrs old we went to see Prospect Park on our first date. The park was not a tourist attraction back then and it was still in great condition. We walked up to the front fountain by the house and sat on the lawn. I asked my future husband why the fountain wasn't on and then I pointed to the house and asked him if we could ask someone to see the inside of the house. I was young and naive but so enthralled by the history of the home when my husband started telling me about how he played on the grounds when he was a teenager. All of a sudden the fountain turned on as a man came out of the castle. I asked him if we could see the place and he took us around back and let us in. I felt like I was walking in a time capsule. We got to go upstairs to the second floor but for some reason I felt the presence of Mrs. Shirk who was watching us the whole time. The castle was still the same inside as I saw it and picturing it as it was in the past. We left shortly after that and I have never forgotten the moment.

Yelp
You wanna feel at peace and just hear nature and be in content well you got it. I'm a nature person since I'm diagnosed with anxiety and depression disorder.

Yelp
I just love Prospect Park in Redlands! It's quiet, well-shaded (in most parts), clean, and ... not only is it great for walking or running through the trails but it is a photographer's hidden gem --- oops, did I just let out my secret? Yes, this park sets a gorgeous backdrop for an outdoor photo session! In the last year, I've seen more and more photographers coming here with families, couples, and even high school seniors to capture lifestyle photos outdoors. One of my favorite places to shoot here is just outside the picnic area and restrooms, which---by the way---are pretty clean! It's a vine-covered veranda with sunlight popping through for those gorgeous backlight shots. Down the hill is also a great photo opp for a bamboo-like backdrop. It's so green here and makes even an amateur photographer's photos stand out. If you continue walking down the hill, you'll see the open-air Redlands Theater and a grassy area with large trees! I can go on and on about all the wonderful parts of this park but you'll just have to see it for yourself. It is a bit tricky coming up here but there is a small unpaved parking lot across the restrooms. You'll have to be vigilant while driving up and watch out for hikers as the road leading up to the lot is a narrow, windy, single-vehicle road. Look for signs pointing to Carriage House and you'll find it better than Google Maps will give directions. Tip: - Wear comfy walking shoes; - Don't be scared if you see a lizard or squirrels running around; and - Keep Prospect Park clean and beautiful!

Love this location!!!! Awesome spot for photography! Lots of cute little areas and nice views!

Yelp
Beautiful scenery only recommended to use a lots of bug spray other than that nice place to bring the family
google avatar

Yelp
Prospect Park can best be described as an immaculate garden with an amazing view of the entire valley. Actually, it's gardens upon gardens--orange orchards, a rose garden, a greenhouse, a bamboo garden, palms, pines and on and on. It's a beautiful, quiet place to sit and relax or go for a walk. The Shakespeare Festival is held at the amphitheater there every summer, and Kimberly Crest is at the edge of the park. The only problem is that people overuse the park for photoshoots, which is usually easy enough to ignore although every graduation season it becomes littered with confetti. Otherwise, the city does its best to keep these grounds extremely well maintained.

Yelp
Such a beautiful park to capture beautiful images. Also, very nice for a small walk around the park. This is my personal favorite.

Yelp
Beautiful Park to take family pictures totally recommend. If you're searching for a beautiful Park to take pictures with your children who might not always cooperate if you take them to a professional photographer.. this is the place to go and this is why I asked my sister to take pictures of us with her new iPhone who took beautiful pictures in the outdoors and I loved how they turned out I would totally go back with my family to take pictures again.

Yelp
Beautiful park in Redlands. Took the fam there and walked around the smell of the orange blossoms were insane.
google avatar

Rou M.

Yelp
This place is absolutely beautiful in the spring with all the flowers blooming and the intoxicating smell of orange blossom in the air right when you get out of the car. It's a nice place to watch the sun set as it has a good city view. Lots of people walking around and occasionally some people with a few oranges. FYI you're not allowed to pick the oranges (and yes there's security). I've seen photographers here and even a wedding reception at the club house up top.

Yelp
I had left really early from San Diego on my trip up north and I ended up stopping in the Redlands area to grab some breakfast. Before heading to breakfast, I decided to grab a quick run in a park in the area since I'd be sitting in the car all day driving. This park came up close to me in Yelp and I ended up here. The area is quite a nice neighborhood, very quiet and lots of people were out and about walking around it very early in the morning. Park is very clean, up kept and makes a good spot to go running or walking your dog. There is a tree field next to it though, didn't quite catch what they were growing. Overall a nice park to grab some exercise. There's plenty of street parking in the area, there is a lot for the place but it was locked up early in the morning.

Felicia C.

Yelp
Really beautiful place I enjoyed the walk although it was short it was beautiful. Good place to take pictures too. If your looking into doing something new you should come here.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a huge park but the perfect spot to have professional photos done! My daughter had her 5th bday photos done here. There are alot of areas to get great shots. We actually ran into 3 other photographers taking photos there as well so it is definitely a popular area.

Yelp
We had our wedding here with the reception at the Carriage House. Peggy was amazing to work with. She was very responsive when I had questions and was coordinating with all the vendors. Absolutely the best decision to have our wedding here.

Yelp
This park is absolutely Beautiful, it is well maintained and kept very clean . This is a perfect place to go on a picnic with the kids, boyfriend, in laws, or even by yourself . It is such a relaxing place and has beautiful views . There are also several Hiking trails which are perfect if you need some fresh air . 10/10 would recommend

Yelp
I love this park. It was saved from development in the early 1900's by the residents Redlands themselves. The city wanted to build. I'm so so happy they fought to keep this a Park because it's one of the more beautiful parks Ive been to. And i travel quite a bit all over so my word doesn't come without experience. It's quiet, can walk your dogs, have a picnic, watch the sunset..... love it.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Prospect Park is such a beautiful and peaceful park. I love walking here and looking at all the amazing views of the mountains and our city on a clear day. It's a very popular place for many people to come have their pictures taken because of how gorgeous the surrounding area is. In fact, my husband and I actually had our wedding photos done in the orange groves here! It has many different things to offer including trails and an outdoor theater where they hold an annual theater festival. Located right next to the park also lies the historical Kimberly Crest home; an old Victorian era house surrounded by some of the most beautiful gardens in the city. Certainly one of my favorite parks in the area and one I would without a doubt recommend people come visit.
google avatar

Bianca M.

Yelp
Came here today for a photoshoot, and I fell in love as soon as I walked out of my car! *heart eyes* This Park is huge, and every spot is the perfect spot for some pictures lol. The scenery is beautiful so literally every picture I took was amazing! I'll definitely be back for more photo shoots in the future, and also for a picnic!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful little park! We took a walk through and loved the orange blossom smell in the orchard. Took some fantastic photos and generally had a great afternoon. One aspect that really made this place memorable was the spectacular views off the hill. The paths run up and down the side of the hill at very easy slopes with well kept paths.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful place to come and walk around. Hike a little and just take in the scenery and connect with nature. You really feel at peace here. It's all so beautiful and really kept up. Nice for a romantic walk.

Yelp
I went here for my first time, three days ago, and I loved it! It's beautiful, plus the orange blossom scent, wow! And there's a coy fish fountain! xD it could be cleaned, though. The water was a little too green. I don't think the fish like it! Please fix that!... Other than that, I loved everything else.
